Prior to our arrival, we phoned to check if we needed to pay extra if our kids brought a friend each. We were told no, but when we arrived, we were charged an additional $40.00 and informed that information was incorrect. No apologies or discussion just told to pay. Our en-suite powered site was also only stocked with two towels for six people and told that they have no more even though the original booking was for 4 people – thankfully, we always bring our own.
On Saturday morning, we grabbed some coffees, which were nice, but the staff’s attitude left a lot to be desired. Everything seemed like an inconvenience rather than a service. Later that day, someone unfortunately had an accident in the pool, and while that’s obviously out of the park’s control, it took over an hour before guests were notified of the closure.
Bingo that evening was a highlight – really fun, and we even won some free coffee vouchers, lollies, and chocolates. However, when we tried to use the vouchers the next morning, the same poor customer service reappeared. The staff member questioned where we got them and why they weren’t signed, eventually accepting them but clearly not happy about it.
Food at the café was very expensive, so I’d recommend bringing your own meals. There also aren’t many BBQs available, so campers should plan ahead and bring one.
Our en-suite itself was old and in need of renovation. The site layout was odd – we had to park half on fake turf and half on dirt, or else sit half on each, and our caravan isn’t large (only 18’6”). The overall setup felt awkward and dated.
On our last day, with nice weather, we asked politely about a possible late checkout but were met with a blunt and rude “no.” It was disappointing, especially considering the numerous signs around the park warning that rude behaviour towards staff would not be tolerated — apparently, that doesn’t go both ways.
We did enjoy the hot chips and bacon & egg roll from the café – both were great. The standout of the trip, however, was the guy behind the bar — absolutely fantastic customer service. He deserves 5 stars on his own!
Unfortunately, the constant sewage smell around parts of the park was quite unpleasant and hard to ignore.
Overall, the park feels old and run down, and the customer service (aside from the bar staff) was very poor. It’s a beautiful location, but we’d recommend considering other spots along the South Coast that are better maintained and have friendlier staff.
