Great location. Walking distance to Jay and Bergen subway stops. Lots of food choices within walking distance. Rooms were clean and beds comfortable. We weren't sure about the beds at first because they are very low to the ground and do not have a box spring. Secure building. Must have key card to enter after a certain time. Also need key card to operate elevator. Employees were very friendly and very accomodating. Genuinely seemed to want to make our stay nice. Lobby was very inviting with lots of seating and a large picture window. The coffee was great. Breakfast was well done. The choices were quality items and not just fillers. Would stay here again.

The best and most critical part of this hotel stay was the manager, Mr. Steandly Eko. His excellence in service is the only reason I booked this hotel. Outstanding manager. He is invested in making sure his hotel runs well and his clients satisfied. The breakfast was meager with few choices. Very disappointing. The hotel was clean, the rooms were clean, the physical fitness center was clean. Very conveniently located for business and activity in the Cobble Hill area of Brooklyn. Very safe area. Conveniently located to the subway system. The mattresses and the carpeting in the hallways could benefit from replacement.

I love this hotel’s location! I came here last year and everything felt and seemed brand new, I came back last week and many things look old or not clean enough. The room was ok but they could improve the bathrooms, the shower looked orangey. the Included breakfast was not bad but based on the hotels prices, they could do better. And the day my sister and came, the front desk employee was not nice or friendly at all. I thought she had a race bias towards me and my sister, I didn’t have a good experience with this person.

Avoid this place at all costs. After a long journey from the airport via train, I arrived at this hotel only to be charged over $750 for a two-night stay — $600 plus a $150 deposit — for what should honestly be a $50-a-night motel at best. From the start, the experience was terrible. The front desk employee was shockingly rude and unprofessional, which immediately set a negative tone for our stay. My mother and I were both shocked at how unpleasant the guy at the front desk was. We just lost a family member so we really wanted to have a relaxing stay. This place is the opposite and the hotel should really work on who they hire. The hotel itself is rundown and uncomfortable. There’s no air conditioning in the hallways, our room had no bathtub, and it reeked of mildew. It was genuinely upsetting — I wanted to cry. Spending this much money to stay in a place this awful is a huge disappointment. Please don’t make the same mistake. Do yourself a favor and stay literally anywhere else. The Hilton down the street looks nicer and I’m sure has nicer staff.

Google
Great location for our needs, near Atlantic Terminal for easy access to the Long Island RR and JFK airport. Rooms were clean and cleaning staff was very accommodating. Nice blackboard in the bathroom we could use to ask for certain items like more soap or coffee pods. Breakfast was okay and sufficient for us as we usually had lunch and dinner plans. Will stay there again when visiting our son and his wife in Brooklyn.

I very rarely write reviews but we were so shocked by our experience that I feel compelled before other people waste their money. Do not stay here under any circumstances. There is 24 hour construction directly in front of the hotel. The city is building a massive prison and have been granted a permit to work all day and night. The work is planned until 2029. The heavy machinery, drills, yelling, and fog horn every time a steel beam was lifted all night, every night - even over Memorial Day weekend - was awful and made it impossible to sleep. The hotel needs to disclose this on their website - we would never have stayed there had we known construction was 24 hours. I asked that we be moved to a back room (which was marginally better noise-wise) and they gave my child a broken roll away bed because they had no double rooms. I asked for a different roll away and they said they’d bring one in 5 minutes. No one ever showed up. My child ended up sleeping on a mattress on the floor for the privilege of several thousand dollars. Additionally the hotel is very basic, dirty, and in a state of semi-disrepair (broken towel racks, broken safes, filthy hallway carpets)—certainly not “luxe” in any way. Stay away from this hotel.

Google
It's a decent place if you're just crashing for a night or two. The room's clean, but the mattress sucks 'cause they're all soft. I asked if they had any other mattresses, and they said no. Then I asked if I could sleep on the extra one, and they wanted to charge me thirty bucks a night.

Yelp
Update - The first time I came to this place I loved it and it's a shame what it has come to, last time I left a highly detailed 5 star review. We went again hoping for similar results and it wasn't even the hotel but the service, the cleaning and room was fine but the man at the front desk was horrible just nasty and also took a literal hour to make the food just to find out they didn't have burger buns, and the food we got was mediocre the fries were soggy and the chicken was bland so we had to order out after we already paid, the guy at the front desk didn't say sorry or anything he just said he's busy which he wasn't because the lobby had 2 people in it hope for better next time 2 stars

Yelp
At this point in my life, I would sleep in some pretty dire conditions if it meant I don't have to wake up with the demons my wife gave birth to in the morning. Thankfully, when we got the chance to get away from those adorable little monsters, we were able to book a room at the Nu Hotel. The room was surprisingly pricey, but still more affordable than the other options nearby (there may have been something happening at the Barclays Center to drive up the rates). And aside from a slightly funky smell upon entering (I hope it was just a fluke), the room was nice. It was just about all the things we were looking for, which was basically a decent bed and a clean bathroom in this neighborhood. We had grand plans to go out to brunch the next morning, but horrific hangovers meant the continental breakfast came through in the clutch (much appreciated), and the post breakfast nap was necessary, right up until the noon check out. The guy who checked us in and the lady who checked us out were both quite pleasant, and that was the extent of our interactions with the staff. I'd do it again, if only for the most reasonable rate in the area, and getting the hell away from my kids.

Yelp
Had an opportunity to stay at the Nu Hotel this weekend. While we are still amid a global health crisis, I was impressed by how accommodating the hotel staff was. Everyone was friendly and wearing masks. The service was great and they even gave me a kit with a quality mask, hand sanitizer, and other information about COVID-19. We were able to socially distance when using the elevators and there was a lot of hand sanitizer stations throughout. The hotel was spacious and amazing. Very swanky and close to good eats in downtown Brooklyn.

Yelp
Small hotel centrally located by the prison. Joking aside, good location walkable to major subway stop (Jay/Metro), b61 bus and others, shopping, jail, courts, food. Cute and nicely updated. Free breakfast till 10.

Yelp
Professional customer service is what you get at this hotel. I emailed the hotel to arrange a surprise staycation for my mom and cat (You need to sign a waiver and will be charged a $100 one-time cleaning fee) - Katherine B. , account manager, responded to me in a timely and professional manner. They offered a very good rate and prepared some welcoming refreshment in our urban suite. I felt so welcomed the moment I connected with them - good customer service goes a long way. NU Hotel is a boutique hotel located at downtown Brooklyn where it is surrounded by a bunch of good restaurants. Make sure you grab a pizza at Sottoca, omakase at Ki Sushi, smoked brisket sandwich at Mile End & pastries at Bien Cuit etc if you happen to stay here. They are all within 5 to 10 minutes walking distances and I guarantee you wouldn't regret your choices. I had a great time here with my family and I left with a bigger tummy.

Yelp
Check in was a breeze . The young lady at the desk was courteous and accommodating. In the morning I wanted to go to the gym before breakfast ( breakfast is included) was having some issues getting in( gym also included) . I went to the front desk the young lady was so helpful she came down with me tried the key . It didn't work. She went around to the staff entrance and let me in and showed me out to exit when I'm done. Going the extra mile was appreciated. The gym was clean the entire hotel was clean, rooms bathrooms etc. After working out I went to have breakfast , there was a great variety to choose from. Fruits were fresh and juices were as well. The staff assisting were great as well. Overall excellent service. Will be booking again soon. Decor was different but appreciated . Loved the art work all around . Lovely place .

Yelp
So this needed to be its own post... Y'all know I love graffiti and taking pictures so I wanted a space that felt unique and eclectic... Not a chain hotel and I picked up on the nuhotel It was a cute little boutique hotel situation... I chose a room with a mural ... next time I want the room with the hammock And for an NY room it was huge... I def recommend if you're in Brooklyn Oh and it's one of very few Brooklyn hotels with parking ... there is a garage next to it, but I luckily found on street parking every I took away a star because my sink drained slowly and overflowed and there was a stain on the bed skirt I didn't notice until the last day of the trip

Yelp
Wow, this was by far the MOST UNCOMFORTABLE mattress and pillow I've slept on in a while (like, since camping or sleeping on a college pullout bed)! I've stayed at hotels of all budgets (including most recently at much cheaper, $100/night hotel in Brooklyn) and have never thought twice about the mattress/pillow situation but this was literally painful to lie on. I'm giving them two stars because the staff were SO nice and accommodating, they even upgraded me to a larger room when I complained (which unfortunately was just a larger uncomfortable bed). The hotel is also just way overpriced for what it is: a great location with very average-looking features and a neck-crushing bed that will leave you wishing you'd saved the extra $ on a good massage. Never again.

Mike A.

Yelp
They screwed up our reservation and refused to refund. Absolutely unhelpful. Stay away from the place.

Yelp
I wanted the whole Brooklyn experience on my first visit, so I opted for a boutique hotel vs a chain I could lodge at in my native Atlanta or anywhere else. My guy selected this hotel at the top of the boutique list he sent me and it was a great location not too far from his residence with lots of local shops, eateries, and tourist attractions nearby. From the airport, it was about a 35 min drive on a Sunday early afternoon. On the way to the hotel, I called to see if I could do an early check-in since I'd be getting there a little before 2 PM when check-in wasn't until 3 PM and the staff was very accommodating to allow this, so I was grateful especially because all I wanted to do was take a nap! I'd booked a King-size bed in a NuPerspective Room which is one where a local artist has hand-painted a Brooklyn-themed mural on the wall. The room cost was a little pricey averaging in the mid $400s w/tax included for my 2-night stay (I also had there Black Friday special so it would've been more), but the reviews were very good and I liked the website, so I thought it was worth it at least this once! My room was located on the 2nd floor (patio view was lacking, but it was cool because it's the city) and the hotel has four floors, I think. Upon entering my room, I noticed a cigarette smoke smell, but the hotel is non-smoking, so I was thrown off by that **I asked the hotel staff about it and he let me know there's a charge of like $300 if guests are found to be smoking and they get put out so it may have been smoke from outdoors blowing into the vent system.** Aside from that, I noticed the beautiful mural on the wall by Kristen Haskell and the place was clean! I was glad there was a mini-fridge, microwave, and Keurig- I think those should be standard accommodations in any hotel room. The room was very spacious and I appreciated the decor along with the work desk. Because I was sick when I arrived, I was grateful for the complimentary snacks/beverages available in the lobby's bar area. Relaxation was key for me and the bed didn't disappoint as it was comfy and plush! He slept well, too, so it must've been a great place to sleep! The 1st morning I was there, I missed the complimentary breakfast which ends at 10 AM, but it was fine. The 2nd morning, I made sure I got to breakfast and I was a little disappointed as I thought it'd be a continental breakfast (I was fixated on scrambled eggs and toast at a minimum LOL), but it was more grab and go style (assorted muffins, cereal, oatmeal in a cup, packaged avocado toast, coffee/tea/juice/milk. Overall, I'd stay here again as there are lots of positives! POSITIVES: 1) Location; 2) Hotel Staff/Amenities/Sanitizer stations throughout; 3) Room Cleanliness (shower tile was cracked in some spots but not a dealbreaker); and 4) Early Check-In/Check-Out (they'll allow it if available and I took advantage of both) NEGATIVES: 1) Cigarette smoke smell 1st day; 2) Parking- I didn't realize parking is $45/day for a regular-size car at the parking garage next to hotel and there are no in/out privileges, so my guy had to find elsewhere to park since neither of us considered the parking scenario; 3) No continental breakfast; and 4) No in-hotel store in case you forget toiletries/grooming items- I forgot my comb and the hotel was able to offer a tiny comb that you'd use for a newborn (they tried and I was like that's not going to get it LOL)!

Yelp
The rooms are very basic but well maintained. The location is ideal, near a lot of great dining and decent shopping. The staff is attentive and the neighborhood is safe.

Yelp
Such a cozy and comfy stay in Brooklyn!! I stayed here for two nights with my boyfriend as we visited the area. Positives: -Friendly and down to earth desk staff -Free cookies for guests in the lobby (delicious btw) -Comfiest bed ever! -Hardwood floors free from allergy dust -Low to ground beds (which I loved!) -Clean rooms -Chalkboard in bathroom a very fun and cool touch -Free coffee and keurig in room -Close proximity to stores -Easy walk to Fulton Street -Window has noise isolation from street cars -Lo'ccitane products in bathroom -Free breakfast in the morning (but it's a small light selection: i.e bagels, toast, coffee, kashi bars, fruit) Negatives: -room was hot and radiator wouldn't blow cold air -windows open only one inch -LED lights by the bed were broken so we couldn't read -desk chair didn't roll well -Detention center was across the street but didn't bother me. I felt safe inside the room. As far as Brooklyn goes this was an excellent hotel. Had a few issues as far as room temp was concerned but I loved my stay. Our room was directly in the front of the hotel so we had a nice view of the streets ok BK. I would definitely stay here again if I was in the area.

Yelp
My husband booked this hotel for our mini-honeymoon and it was great! They placed a champagne bottle per the request of my husband. They also had breakfast in the morning. Due to COVID, no one there so I was able to pick up what we wanted and take upstairs to our room. The design of the room was BEAUTIFUL. When we got to our room, the tv wasn't working (my husband fixed it) and we didn't have a tub like we requested. All in all it was great !!

Yelp
I would definitely want to come back soon as I can I highly recommend it. Rooms and bathrooms are pretty clean. Prices are not bad at all for the night I just cant wait.

Yelp
Large, undated / modern rooms Comfy bed and linens Convenient location Friendly staff Door bell ringing sound in the background. From the parking garage next door.

Yelp
I was at the Nu Hotel at the beginning of June and I had the best customer service ever! Everybody in the staff was absolutely cooperative and helpful. All of them went beyond their duty. My room was clean, bright and quite, exactly what I needed. Location perfect for taking walks, and for using the subway.

Thomas M.

Yelp
Small hotel with excellent service. Like many hotels, no daily maid service, unless you ask for it. We had very quick response to any requests during our weeklong stay. Staff all friendly and helpful. Continental breakfast. 2block walk to subway. Detention center and Courthouse across the street, so Police cars on street a common site. Highly recommend for a stay in Brooklyn.

Yelp
Awesome stay! Was down in Brooklyn for work, and they put us up at the NU Hotel. The rooms are amazingly comfortable, the bed was like sleeping in a cloud! Bathroom was well outfitted; high end toiletries and a super powerful compact blow dryer. Great wall murals from local artists definitely gave a nice taste of Brooklyn to the room. Conveniently located to lots of great places to eat, and a nice neighborhood for walking around. I was pleasantly surprised with how quiet and dark the room was with the curtains drawn. Staff were very friendly and accommodating. 10/10 would definitely recommend!

Yelp
Very nice hotel at Brooklyn. Near to few metro stations makes it easy to travel to Manhattan. Clean and nice rooms. Hotel also have gym if that matters to you. Breakfast is ok, not plenty, but all you need to start the day. Nice and helpful stuff

Yelp
I truly loved staying at this hotel! I was here for 5 nights, three of them with my boyfriend. Firstly, the service was incredible--they were really good at making us feel welcome and answering our questions. Mel was a rock star, I totally think she needs a raise. When I first saw the room, I was a little disappointed. It felt a bit small and not a lot of light. Very quickly, it grew on me! The windows are really big, so I kept the shades up most of the time. The beds were super comfortable, with excellent sheets. And there's even a chalkboard in the bathroom to write notes, get creative, etc. Includes breakfast, although there is a small facilities fee. Great location! Love Boerum Hill and it's right near the subways. I'd stay here again in a heartbeat. Two thumbs up.

Ian T.

Yelp
This hotel is ok. For the price it's just right down the middle. Staff was fine, rooms were clean Wifi worked...no complaints, utilitarian hotel Id say. I was in NY for work, this hotel was fine to sleep in.

Yelp
Parking fee is much bigger than they promise Breakfast is poor and there are too little space and too many people. I never had a chance to have a seat. But hotel is clean. I won't come back

Yelp
Since I have haven't been to Brooklyn in over 25 years and we are heading out to the Barclay's Center for a concert last week, I am checking every website for the best place to stay to avoid the travel back to NJ after the show. Amazing how much bad press the top hotels get, Sheraton, Marriott etc. my god you would think with Social Media nowadays that they would be extra careful to please their guests. With that said after many reviews even though it costs a bit more we settle on a Boutique hotel just off Atlantic Ave at the base of the Brooklyn Bridge called the NU HOTEL. Special online deal was $279.00 plus taxes included overnight parking next door which ala carte is $28.00 Arrive just before 2PM and parking is easy and they let us know just call ahead of time and vehicle will be ready. Walking or UBER only tonight so the car will remain till tomorrow no issues. Check in and given our sticker for overnight parking, but room isn't quite ready. Lobby is well BOUTIQUE NY.. very stylish with various tables and outlets for power along with a bike stand outside which I assume can rent from point A. to Point B. Room is ready about 2:45 and we head up.. Not ever staying in a hotel like this before I didn't know what to expect but it was interesting to say the least. Room is done in modern boutique type NYC art with very modern fixtures. Hardwood floors no carpet. King Bed is very low to ground while bathroom is adequate and it has Giant Chalk board on wall with chalk and erasers. As stated INTERESTING! Single Cup Kureg Coffee maker with various types of Tea & Coffee is complimentary while the rest of the liquor, wine & soft drinks in cooler have price tags on list attached. (More on this later) Walked back from the Barclays about 1 mile at close to midnight and felt very safe, hotel was quiet while bed linens were top quality, the softness of mattress and low proximity to the ground was no good for my back. Power outlets were ample and shower was OK water pressure was just lacking and not all the cascading rain shower heads were actually spewing water, but no real issues. Other issue is the AC / HEATING Unit is VERY LOUD when it cycles and it is right on top of the bed. If you are light sleeper this will not be your thing. All and all place is Extremely Comfortable, VERY CLEAN, people were nice and friendly in a nice neighborhood close to everything.. Knocks off for soft mattress but that's just me. Only other issue we had was when I received my final Bill it contained about $17.00 in various wine & soft drink charges which were NEVER CONSUMED. Spoke to Robert twice, Daquan twice and finally Janet who sent me a copy of the updated Bill with the charges removed. Honestly the $17.00 is not a big deal and it could have been an honest error but I don't need 5 phone calls, actually it was closer to 10 as the front desk often goes to Voice Mail and the box is full. With that small issue aside for cleanliness, proximity and value I'd certainly stay here again if necessary. Really 3.5 Stars!

Yelp
The Nu Hotel, is a boutique hotel, well maintained and ideally located in Brooklyn. Very clean rooms, some larger then others, we had one with a hammock. Wonderful staff, that come up and check to see if all your needs are met and they give great directions too! Nice little breakfast is available every morning, cereal, fresh fruit, yoghurt, bagels and cream cheese, lots of different sweets and more... Not to forget coffee, tea and orange juice. Bikes are available to ride for free... we rode to the Brooklyn Bridge and enjoyed it completely. On Friday evenings they have entertainment in the lobby. To sum it up... a must stay... shopping in abundance, food, bakeries, what ever your heart desires... close to historical locations... and Hamilton isn't far away either... He's a must see!! So if a New York trip is in your future, please.. check this location out... I'm very happy we did!

Yelp
Tonight I checked in and the front desk clerk was so inviting. I wish I had gotten her name but she was blonde hair tall wonderful woman. She was so nice as far as to tell me places to eat and local attractions. It's really the smiles and warm Welcome that makes a difference in your stay. I stepped out to grab something to eat from one of her recommendations (The Spot) and as I return she asked me if I was happy with the accommodations. Then proceeded to hold the elevator door open for as she wished me a good evening. Now the room very spacious and clean the bathroom has great lighting and plenty of counter space for whatever you may need. Everything you need is right at your fingertips. Paid parking steps away which is great! Nice hidden jewel!!!!

Yelp
You can probably beat the location in Brooklyn a thousand times. But the staff is remarkable. Still it's Downtown Brooklyn and there are hundreds of places within walking distance. Room was spacious, clean, and cozy. The air conditioning units are extremely loud, though #newyorkstyle.

Yelp
This hotel sucks! Super expensive and not worth it. Stayed here for Mother's Day staycation (we live in Brooklyn). The girl checking us in had zero personality and put our entire family in a full size bed room and said we can pay $30 extra for a rollaway bed. No "Happy Mother's Day" not even a smile. We were packed like sardines into the bed. Super hilarious but I'd rather be in my actual Brooklyn home . The coffee machine in the room was broken and the entire snack bar empty. Talk about being pampered on my special day. Luckily we had an amazing time sitting on the tiny bed ordering in from 5 different restaurants getting to try a new part of Brooklyn.. but the special memories had zero to do with this hotel. Go somewhere else ! Trust me.

Yelp
Had issues with first and second room. Staff needs training. Front Office manager rectified everything to my satisfaction. Room is nice. Hotel rates are NYC rates. Breakfast was nice.

Yelp
So, some background: my mom and I flew in to NYC yesterday for my godmother's father's funeral. Before coming here, we were originally gonna stay at a B&B about two-three minutes away (The Justice Manor--I never recommend). That's a whole other story involving money that I won't go into since that isn't what this review is about. Nu Hotel saved our behinds and came in clutch with the room availability, affordable pricing (which is shocking for NYC), and accessibility for my mom! The free breakfast is pretty good, too, and I appreciate the sleek, modern decor. Our room came with a coffee machine and I'd live here if I could just because of how comfy and youthful these rooms are; it's right up my alley. Did I mention there's cereal? And that my bathroom came with chalk and an eraser to write on the black wall behind the toilet? All in all, things work out! I only wish we knew about this place earlier last week. But I will for sure be adding this to the list of hotels I visit next time I come here! P.S. Scottocasa is across the street, so if you want some bomb pizza, it's only a hop step and a jump away if you don't feel like traveling a rather long distance.
google avatar

Yelp
Rude night staff and total lack of air in the rooms make it a pretty unpleasant stay. The rooms are basic and not as pictured. When I raised concern that no A/C in the middle of a NY heat wave the desk clerk was dismissive, put me on hold for 10min, and we were told there's no engineer on site they'll look into it in the morning. It's not great news if staying one night. AVOID

Yelp
Just returned from a quick weekend in Brooklyn and chose to return to the NU Hotel for my stay. Their respect and concern for their customers is worthy of an excellent rating on YELP! When I arrived late on Friday evening, I noticed that the clock radio in my room was not working. As it was almost 11:00 pm, I called the front desk to ask if someone could replace the clock radio in the morning. The hotel operator asked if it were possible to send the evening service person to replace it then! I was so surprised with the accommodation and excellent service. Upon returning home on Sunday evening, I realized I had left a medication behind and called the hotel and spoke with the operator named "Liz." She assured me she'd ask the housekeeping supervisor about it in the morning. Additionally, I got an email from the assistant general manager, Natalie on Monday morning to let me know that it would be sent back to me once found! I offered to pay the postage, but she declined my offer! Incredibly, I received the forgotten item, via FEDEX, today, TUESDAY !!! With so many choices available...customer service like this, needs to be recognized, validated and shared!

Yelp
This is the hotel I try to love, but it's sometimes very hard. I stayed here once and it was ok, but on the second stay I was put in a room that had "welcome back mr rosenblatt" written on the wall in chalk. That's not my name. And when I entered the bathroom it looked like the Kleenex holder was stuffed with used tissue. (Photos included) Guess the cleaning staff just sorta stuffed some tissue in there, and called it a day. That particular room smelled like mold, but others are better. The front desk staff is a mix of girls really trying to be helpful, and guys who just don't care. If you do choose to stay here, choose a room on the fourth floor and, whatever floor, request a queen room. They're more updated than the king rooms. Breakfast is pretty good: bananas, coffee, cereal, yogurt etc.

Yelp
Trying to decide where to stay in New York City is challenging. Most of us love Manhattan, but those hotel room rates are almost more per night than a round trip ticket. So since my paternal side of my family is from Brooklyn, I wanted a more authentic hands on experience. I found this modern fair priced hotel right next to a parking garage and about one miles distance from the Brooklyn Bridge. I was hoping to take a brisk early morning walk across the bridge, snapping pre-dawn photos as the sun peaked up over the horizon. Unfortunately mother nature trumped those plans, no pun intended. What added to the decisions to stay here are the various restaurants and little retail shops within a few minutes stroll down the street. In addition, online photos looked new and authentic, which never hurts. Nobody likes an inflated pre-sale on accommodations, because reality and fantasy are two very different aspects of life; And will be verified eventually. I was there early, even with it raining like cats and dogs in late November. Quick question here: is it allowed to rain in NYC while hard working people are on vacation?? I think not. LOL. But I pressed on, full steam ahead. The nice staff at NU allowed me to check in around 12pm, so up to the 4th floor I went. My room was exactly like I thought it would be. Cozy, modern, comfortable, and chic. I sat my stuff down, freshened up a bit, from a several hours commute from Connecticut in rush hour traffic, oh vey!! Since I was meeting a friend in Manhattan by the Metropolitan Museum of Art, I called Lyft for a ride. Prices were not surging, but it kinda sucked that my fare was nearly $50, one way!! What ya talking about Willis?? Had I known that in advance, I would of booked a hotel in Manhattan and saved time and the aggravation. So learn from my experience, huh. Or take the subway. Or city buses. It's only money right?? I believe Lyft now provides quotes on their rates prior to rides to help alleviate this urban financial situation. Awesome!! Returning back to the hotel later that night, I ordered a bottle of wine from the lobby bar along with a little snack. I was too exhausted to walk to a nearby place, but honestly should of just ordered something online, it would of been cheaper with more options. Again, another little travel lesson. I was just so overly exhausted, my brain wasn't thinking straight. No worries mate. One of their staff walked my food up with me, which was nice. Everyone was pretty friendly and helpful. I wish the hotel had more late night appetizers to choose from or suggested a local restaurant. Their limited snack choice were underwhelming. What bummed me out was the parking situation. I called them earlier before I booked my stay here to make sure they would have ample space. They said they would. The garage is literally right next door, which is super convenient. When I arrive the manager tells me they are full. Well, hang on a second buddy. So I mention I am staying next door at NU Hotel. And he says okay, for you we will make room, like he is doing me a favor. Umpff. Their best rate is a 24 hour, $30 set amount, plus an extra $10 was added since my rental car was an SUV. And then they zinged me another $10 because I was a few minutes over my 24 hour time stamp. So folks, it cost me $100 to get into Manhattan and back. And than another $50 to keep my rental car in Brooklyn. What a rip off! Boy, did I really mess up. Lesson learned. Nobody said staying in NYC was cheap, they are not fooling people. Plan ahead really well, because those details can add to your budget quickly without a whole lot to show for it. Besides, how many drinks could I had enjoyed for that amount of wasted revenue?? Oh, my liver hurts just thinking about it! Check in was a breeze. Checking out was fine. The Nu Hotel staff are professional and efficient. I just wish they were a bit more hands on with luggage assistance, a better parking arrangement with the next door garage. They definitely need to be more flexible, hotel guests are spending over $200 a night, don't rip us off on parking. It's tacky.

Yelp
We stayed here for 6 nights in the late summer. It was great! We had a pleasant room with a modern vibe and cool local art, high enough and sealed enough so there was no traffic noise. Attentive staff: a little trouble with a shower knob that didn't adjust properly was quickly rectified and a last minute request for a roll-away bed was no problem. Lovely continental breakfast included: coffee/tea, juice, yogurt, oatmeal, hard-boiled eggs, fruit, cereal, toast. The hotel is in a great location, nearby Smith St features tons of restaurants, bars, and shopping. Very walkable neighborhood with plenty of subway stops nearby, too. Things that could be better: very small closet, no ice machines (you have to go down and ask for ice) and confusing layout for check-in made the hotel lobby look like an informal cafe. However, I chalk all these up to the hotel making the most out of small, tight NYC spaces. None of these are a problem to me and we'll be back in the Spring!

Yelp
Really great hotel. I was wary since I don't trust boutique hotels for business travel, but everything else was expensive. They let me check in early, which was a major bonus because I flew on a red eye, and needed a nap and shower before heading to work. Quick and easy subway trip to my office in the financial district. Breakfast is pretty substantial -- they have yogurt in cute jars, hard boiled eggs, bagels and cream cheese, turkey and Swiss cheese, muffins, good coffee (and almond milk!). The room was big and comfy, I was in the "family and friends" suite. Rainfall shower was great. Blackout shades were great. I travel to NYC often (and used to live here) and this was a great hotel for the business traveler. I was on the second floor and didn't notice any street noise.

Yelp
Wow-just checked in. It's a shabby hotel with Soviet 60's style era decor and a front desk that looks like a all night gas station in the worst neighborhood ever. The bed is on the floor, the room is musty and there is no help with luggage or parking. All this for something in the $400 a night range-imagine my delight.

Yelp
My favorite hotel in Brooklyn! The good: - cozy and unique rooms with some awesome in-room features, including: white fluffy robes, yoga mats, Keurig with coffee/tea and mugs, L'Occitane bath products, etc. - the hotel has a great urban vibe, with cool art and chalkboards and mid-century modern furniture - the staff are lovely - each morning there is a really nice continental breakfast included: coffee, yogurt, oatmeal, hard-boiled eggs, fruit, cereal, toast - the location is great: nearby Smith St features tons of restaurants, bars, and shopping. Plenty of subway stops nearby, too Why 4 stars instead of 5? - Small things: water pressure in the shower isn't great, and the bed comfort is really hit or miss by room Overall would definitely recommend if you need to stay in Brooklyn!

Yelp
I know a friend that got a complimentary night here due to someone she knows. Anyways I would NOT pay the prices they were originally asking ($300-$400 a night) if I was visiting New York on business or vacation. But now they dropped them to below $200 a night. So it is a great alternative to staying in a 2 star motel in the city for the same price. But it is a chic addition to downtown Brooklyn, offering both complimentary breakfast and wireless internet. This 93 room eco-friendly hotel is designed with cork floors and furnishings made from recycled teak wood. Also had a gym on site and steps from many great restaurants.

Yelp
I stayed here for 2 day while I was having my entire condo painted. I definitely didn't want to go back home after staying here. The hotel is modern, cozy, and clean. It's located next to everything, restaurants, subways, markets, etc. As a born and raised Brooklynite I definitely appreciate convenience. I'm looking for new home projects that would require me to stay at a hotel so I can go back.... :D

Yelp
This hotel bases itself on modern design vs comfort. It is way over priced for what it offers. One thing they avoid telling you is that you will be charged a 25 dollar per day fee plus tax, to cover the wifi, breakfast, coffee and tea in the room, and the use of a bicycle. They call it a New York local hotel fee. I made my reservation through an Internet booking company which I guess only covers the room fee and tax. Would of been nice if I was informed when checking in about the local fee, but I wasn't. Nor was I told when checking out either. Just showed up on my credit card. I would recommend you check out alternative hotels in the area, you may get more for the dollars spent.

Yelp
Very clean, a bit modern for me in that it was not carpeted. A plus is no dust mites or skanky foot fungus from previous guest to be picked up. Yummy free cookies in the lobby. Everyone get's a minibar so everyone has a fridge. Free continental breakfast exactly 10,000 times better than in chain hotels. REAL bagels, cream cheese, granola bars (that you can put in your bag for later), Activia yogurt, some muffins I skipped and really good coffee. Amazing friendly staff. I was able to park free on the street right around the corner. You are right in Brooklyn with this hotel and I had an amazing rate of $141. The last time I stayed at a hotel in Manhattan it cost over $300. But service and amenity-wise this is comparable to a Hilton Garden Inn, not a "regular" hotel. If the price had been over $200 I would have wanted more amenities. Bed is comfortable and slept fairly well. There was a lot of traffic noise from Atlantic Avenue below, so if you are a light sleeper then request a room on a different side of the hotel. Me, I was too excited to be looking at my window at a real city to care. A few blocks away is Court Street with plenty of cute restaurants and shops. A real New York neighborhood to explore without the bother of crossing over into Manhattan.

Yelp
Nice place next to busy road. Our room was facing that road but luckily after dark there isn't much traffic. Free breakfast definitely helped us keep expenses down and organize our day. Their parking is $35 per day. The only problem was that they put a metal folding table in each room and someone above us kept letting theirs fall over onto the floor with a loud clang sound after midnight, which woke us up.

Yelp
I stayed here for 3 weeks while in NYC for business. What makes the Nu Hotel a winner: * it is cheaper than a comparable Manhattan hotel * located a short walk from many of the prime NY subway lines * it is in a great part of Brooklyn with a lot of character (good for tourists to see something other than the crappy Manhattan locales everyone sees). Shopping, restaurants, grocery stores etc. * a decent gym (I bought clothing with the intention of using it, but work sucked the life out of me while there) * free breakfast * decently fast wifi * they make daily chocolate chips cookies at the front desk that are quite addictive.

Yelp
Reasonably priced, boutique hotel, with lots of fun colors on walls. Beds are very close to the ground & have an amazing workout facility but I got 0 service down in the basement so I had no music. Chalk wall in bathroom was cool & everything was so CLEAN. To me, that is the most important part of a hotel and this one nailed that.

Yelp
A cute, small hotel in a convenient location. Friendly staff, high-end bath and body products and free breakfast with coffee/tea/sparkling water any time.

Yelp
This hotel was pretty AWESOME! Stayed here for 3 nights while I was on a work trip. Here's a few reasons: 1. I flew redeye into New York (bad idea) and I didn't really sleep all night, so I was desperately needing to take a nap when I arrived. When I called in, they told me that they don't have a room ready for me yet, but when I arrived, they hooked me up with a room right away and my original check-in time wasn't until afternoon. Really appreciated that the flexibility. 2. The hotel was pretty cute with a cozy feel. 3. They provided complimentary breakfast including orange juice (with hipster straw), yogurt, etc 4. The peeps at the front desk were always really nice. They welcomed me back to the hotel every time I came back. Small thing, but I appreciated the nice touch. 5. Comfortable room and bed, decently sized for New York/really normal size for everywhere else though. Granted it was kind of pricey per night :P I would definitely come back if the rate is reasonable.

Yelp
Loved the hotel and the staff! Had some problems with my booking through the app, however the staff ( front desk receptionist Gaga was extremely helpful) resolved it pretty quick. Room was spacious and nice . Will be back again for sure

Yelp
I live in Brooklyn (actually like five blocks away), but my boyfriend and I come here often, because I still live at home and well...you get the picture. They serve breakfast (no extra charge) in the mornings, and there's a gym down below. The rooms are super comfortable and are styled in a way that feels as though you have your own apartment/condo. Very urban, but very home-like. Not cold an icy, not messy and dirty. The chalkboard in the bathrooms are my favourite features.
