The Best Antique Stores and Flea Markets, According to the Pros

"Why it's great: A lot of markets these days have a tendency to sell machine-made items, but Mercado Artesanal de Písac has a wide variety of beautiful artisanal crafts to buy, and the money goes to the artisans who actually create them. What to look for: You'll see women wearing derbys, bowlers hats, embroidered hats, and hand-knitted alpaca chullo hats that you can buy, which inspired my AW18 hat collection."

You can find here typical artesanal products like at many other markets. Prices offered by vendors were higher than the ones I saw in Cusco. However, the market itself is very scenic and nice to walk around and just admire.

Although this market is now tourist oriented, it was already established by Spanish conquerors as a relevant place for commercial trade. Now, Pisac Market has several sections, handicraft, food, pottery, weaning, among other sections. Do not hesitate to bargain, my non-Spanish-speaking girlfriend managed to bargain and get some interesting discounts!

Visited April 2025. Fun to walk around and see the handcrafts, but I do see lots of vendors claimed the same products I saw elsewhere to be 100% alpaca or baby alpaca, when the other vendor told me it’s blended with cotton or synthetic. Hard to tell whether it’s real alpaca product, would go to Cuzco for factory manufactured product for better price and trustworthy brands to buy real alpaca products.

Fun market with lots of stalls run by locals.

Same old cheap stuff that you can find all over Peru. If your looking for natural handmade quality stuff, your are so much at the wrong place.

Tourist trap. Same haversack selling for 30 soles was offered at 120.

A bit of the regular stuff in Peru, but the textiles are lovely
