Nugget Theater

Nice and cozy and beautiful <3 Andddd the snacks aren't overpriced! Here for the telluride horror film festival and for gown many people came in for the free showings today it wasn't a mess and everything started on time. Props to the great staff!

The Nugget is an old West theater like you'd see in a Western movie with a piano player and can-can girls. It's small, so almost every seat is good. It has floor seating and a balcony section with about three rows on three sides - left and right and in front of the stage. It's like time traveling back to the old West and it's wonderful to see shows there.

This place has nostalgia for me, as it's a theater, one of three, that I get to go to during the Telluride Horror festival. I love the charm of the whole city, but this theater itself really embodies the charm of the film festival in it's quaintness.

Love this little theater! Great popcorn and staff are always friendly! I only wish a schedule would be posted online or recorded on the phone saying which movies were coming next and their show dates.

Best place! It looks like a movie theatre from the 50’s, it’s got so much character! The popcorn is absolutely amazing! Worth it! Brand new seats too!

This is one of Tom Cruise's favorite theaters and it's where the annual Telluride Film Festival, a heavyweight in Film Festivals, is held every year. This class is shown throughout the whole year and it's an incredibly nice theater for such a small town, albeit with a smaller movie selection than say, a Regal 24.

Fabulous local theater showing a good mix of movies. It fits right into the feel of the town with historic charm while being very comfortable.

This little theatre is great. It's intimate, so every seat is a good one. The popcorn is the best! Real butter, for the win!

The whole historic building is being remodel, The Nugget Theatre will be closed for months.

Love the Nugget which is closed for remodeling hopefully will be back on line soon. I thought seeing Horizons in a historic western town theater would have been epic!

We were in town for the Horror Fest and really liked this theater. It is small and is laid out like a typical theater. The single bathroom caused quite a line but it is what it is. The sound, seats, and show were great!

I was here for the horror festival, and this theater is super cute. It reminds me of one where I am from, and I enjoy the size and no-frills aspect. They make do very well with the space--they cram as much seating as they can (I mean that in a good way) in the actual theater which is, like, 2 steps away from the concessions. Bonus for having a little self-serve water dispenser. I hope to return!

Classic single theatre with tasty popcorn and free water! Saw The Lost City in the off season and it was a great time!

I'm all for quaint little theaters with curators and arthouse films and whatnot, but I think the Nugget achieves that in the face of a being little bit uncomfortable, namely in the seats, which used to belong to an AMC theater before the upgraded to something a little more spacious. I can't imagine being in here for the annual film festival, asses to elbows with the people on either side of you for hours on end. During my visit, I saw a limited-run film about a niche subject - exactly what you would expect to find at The Nugget. Walking into the auditorium, I saw posters advertising upcoming airings of The Hangover 2 and The Zookeeper - two films I would definitely not expect to find here. If I'm going to watch 90 minutes of garbage, I want to do it in a 750-person megaplex with a giant tub of popcorn and a gallon of soda. But I guess they have to make money like any other theater.

This place couldn't be any cuter! I was happy to see that they had a movie theater in Telluride, since my friend and I aren't 'bar' people and the town basically closes up at 8pm. They show two movies, one at 6:30 and the other at 8:30pm and they alternate early/late showings daily for their one screen. The gals working there were really kind and polite. They have a decent little snack bar. It's NOT stadium seating or big huge seats, but I was really comfortable during the show and perfectly happy with my experience there. Super cute for a small town theater.

A great old place right in the center of town. Really a perfect place to see a film, not too big not too small. I dont understand how anyone could find this place uncomfortable. It was absolutely fine and I have back problems. The staff was very helpful as well.

As a hearing-impaired person, I can only enjoy films if the theatre is equipped with T-coil or close captions are turned on. It was impossible to call the theatre in advance to find out, so, about two weeks ago (mid-June 2019), my family and I went to the box office as soon as it opened to inquire. I was told by the ticket taker, both were in fact available. Yay! But then, someone who seemed to be in charge and was standing behind the ticket taker announced, rather rudely, that close captions were not available. She then said, again abruptly, that they did have an audio-enhancement system that required me to either bring my own headphones (with an appropriate plug) or borrow one of their used (!!!) ear buds. Ear buds would not work for me as I wear hearing aids. The line for tickets was building up, and this second person basically told me to move out of the way. My family was with me (right behind me), and they went to see the film (Rocketman). Feeling humiliated and disappointed, I got out of the way (i.e, left), and went on a long hike (alone) to calm down. We used to live part-time in Telluride in the late-80's to 90s; my family was there together as a sort of reunion, and part of it was remembering the theatre from years ago. This episode was a truly a disappointing experience. Given the Telluride film festival, and that a significant #of people who come to visit then and at other times may have some sort of hearing issue, I strongly recommend the theatre owners/managers find a way to improve...

The movie theater in Telluride, it's expensive as most things in Telluride, but very comfortable and well heated in winter.
