The beach itself is genuinely stunning, with luminous turquoise water and a fascinating underwater landscape. Snorkelling is a treat: curious fish glide right up to you and the underwater reefs are beautiful . I also spotted three sea snakes with striking black-and-white bands, beautiful but venomous, so awareness is essential. As well as the cone snails to make sure you are aware of those and to avoid them. Lionfish, a lone jellyfish, and an abundance of sea urchins make appearances too, so reef shoes and a snorkelling mask are highly recommended. That said, relaxing on the beach can be a challenge. You are frequently approached by vendors selling everything imaginable. While it’s easy to understand the economic reality behind this, the constant interruptions can be exhausting. The people are however quite respectful of a no thank you. The people on the beach too offering dolphin yoirs is something to research, they are often not licensed, uneducated about marine conservation and often do more harm to the natural life and harass the dolphins. I would recommend doing dolphin tours through the aquariums who actually add to marine conservation and do good. All of this aside, the beach truly is beautiful. I would recommend staying somewhere with security or choosing a quieter, less crowded stretch of sand usualy at the end of the beach, and keeping your wits about you at all times. With the right precautions, it’s a place well worth experiencing

access to the sea is relatively good and the tides are not as bad as on other parts of the island. Good snorkeling is close by and I ended up finding it much better here than at several of the offered snorkeling spots around the island

Nungwi Beach is absolutely beautiful, but the beach boys made it a bit overwhelming. Not even a minute would go by without someone approaching us to sell something, and many didn’t take “no” for an answer even from my partner who is a grown man. It really made me wonder how uncomfortable I would’ve felt if I had visited alone or with just my girlfriends. The beach itself is stunning, but the constant approaches definitely took away from the experience.

The beach is beautiful, with crystal-clear water and sand as soft as flour. Unfortunately, the many street vendors and so-called “Maasai” sellers really take away from the otherwise wonderful atmosphere and disturb the overall experience.

All scenery was so beautiful! Sea is calm and clear. Worth the visit. Sunset cruise entertainment was NOT GOOD. Absolutely horrible and inappropriate.

Beautiful beach, but the moment you try to go into the water people start harassing you. They are persistent, all the time, at any time. There are no marked zones for swimming, the boats they drive at high speed just a few meters from the beach. It’s dangerous.

Lovely beach, perfect for sitting down and enjoying stunning sunsets. It can get a bit crowded depending on the time of day, but it’s still a pleasant spot to relax or go for a swim. The main downside is the frequent presence of Masai and other vendors, who can be quite persistent and approach tourists every few minutes to offer their services — which can somewhat disrupt the experience if you're looking for peace and quiet. That said, it’s still a beautiful beach where you shouldn’t hesitate to settle in, especially if you choose to sit at one of the beachfront restaurants for a more peaceful and comfortable setting. There are plenty of restaurants and resorts along the beach, offering a wide range of options for dining or unwinding, depending on what you're looking for.
