As of 2026 I'm an Accor/Marriott Platinum, IHG/Hilton Diamond, GHA Titanium, and Radisson VIP member. I receive at least some formal 'VIP treatment' at almost every hotel I go to. I have been to Indonesia many times and each time I have stayed here for at least 2 months. But to be honest, with the exception of a very small number of hotels/resorts, Indonesia's hotels/resorts are like machines with a missing screw somewhere. For example the Westin right next door has so many flaws that I couldn't list them all, and The Laguna is ridiculously overpriced for its rooms and amenities. At the Sofitel, I had to summon the front office manager to complain, and I don't understand why Hilton Bali is 'Hilton'.
This resort is part of Accor's 'Handwritten Collection' brand and I had been disappointed by numerous Handwritten Collection hotels so I had very low expectations for this resort. At one Handwritten Collection hotel in Indonesia I personally witnessed a burst pipe in a bathroom flooded with water.
Now let's talk about this resort. I've never seen such friendly staff. Even compared to Korea or Japan - which are known for their exceptional hospitality - the staff here are on par with them.
Thanks to my Accor membership, I received a room upgrade and enjoyed afternoon tea and evening cocktails at the Palace Club located within the resort. While the food options in the Palace Club are smaller than at the Club Millésime in Sofitel next door, each dish was truly delicious. I especially liked the scones which I consider the best I've ever had.
Even the cheapest rooms are larger than those at other resorts and my room is comparable in size to suites at other hotels and resorts. While this resort is older, I can tell from the moment I step inside that it's well-maintained. The cleanliness is top-notch.
Another plus: the garden is vast and well-maintained. There's even a space where hotel guests can feed the fish. Sitting at the outdoor tables in the Palace Club, sipping tea and gazing out at the gardens brings me peace.
The best part about this resort is how quiet it is. While other resorts in Nusa Dua are as noisy as a market, here, you don't have to worry about noise day or night.
One downside to this resort is that their upgrade policy is only one level higher. While Sofitel Nusa Dua and Pullman Legian offer generous room upgrades to Accor Platinum/Diamond members when there are plenty of rooms available, this resort only offers one level upgrade. Unlike other Accor properties, this resort doesn't offer welcome food or letters for elite members. However considering the cookies provided in the rooms this doesn't seem to be a major drawback.
More than anything else I absolutely love the room here. While my schedule and circumstances prevented me from staying in a suite this time I'll definitely stay in a suite at this resort again when I return to Bali.
+ Like the Sofitel next door, this resort also invites a select group of guests for cocktails and food every Thursday evening. I think only those who book a Palace Club room or higher are eligible. The Palace Club staff had already told me about the event but I didn't know the exact location, so I went to the reception desk and asked, and she replied, "Invitation only." I thought to myself, "Lol... This resort must have a lot of Accor Diamond and Limitless members." So I went to the Palace Club for a drink, and a friendly lady told me the location so i could go there. Sate was really good so i ate more than 10
