NUSTAR Hotel Cebu (Cebu, Philippines) Verified Reviews | Tablet Hotels

"On a rising stretch of Cebu’s south coast, NUSTAR Hotel is part city hotel, part island escape, with high-floor views, bold interiors, and space to properly unwind. Rooms and suites are oversized, with deep soaking tubs and floor-to-ceiling windows that look out over sea or skyline. There is an ease to the place, but the energy picks up in the tasting room, lounge, and pool villas. It is the kind of address that sets a new tone for luxury in Cebu." - Tablet Hotels

Nüstar Hotel, developed by Robinsons Land in Cebu City, is marketed as an ultra-luxury property, but the actual experience falls significantly short of that positioning. For a hotel in this category, attention to detail is critical, and unfortunately this is where the property struggles most. Several in-room amenities were problematic: the espresso machine did not work, blackout curtains were ineffective with light leaking from the bathroom, and multiple sliding doors were difficult to close. There is no true master switch—bathroom and cabinet lights must be turned off manually. Finishes throughout the room felt surprisingly cheap. The air-conditioning unit was excessively loud, and drainage noise from the room above was clearly audible, making restful sleep difficult. Soundproofing was poor overall, with hallway noise easily heard, and corridors on the guest floors were not air-conditioned. Service felt oddly positioned. The assigned “butler” offered little beyond what a standard front desk already provides, making the role feel like a rebranding exercise rather than genuine added value. Lounge access is located in a separate nearby hotel, creating unnecessary inconvenience. Dining was equally disappointing. Breakfast included items such as Tender Juicy hotdogs, eggs were served cold, and the buffet flooring was waterlogged—completely inconsistent with luxury standards. Overall, Nüstar Hotel delivers a premium price but a mid-tier experience.

Review – Nustar Hotel Cebu We deliberately chose this hotel as it is advertised as a 5-star resort. Unfortunately, our overall experience was very disappointing and did not meet this standard in any way. I would like to explicitly highlight the very friendly and genuinely helpful staff, as well as the modern and visually appealing room. Sadly, this is where the positive aspects end. The breakfast was poor in both quality and selection and felt more like that of an average city hotel rather than a 5-star resort. What was particularly disappointing was that there was not even enough fresh juice available in the morning — despite only three to four tables being occupied at the time. This is absolutely unacceptable for a hotel in this price category. Food and beverage prices throughout the hotel are extremely overpriced — two to three times higher than comparable restaurants just a few minutes outside the hotel — without offering any corresponding quality or added value. Housekeeping was unreliable. Despite activating the room cleaning indicator, our room was not cleaned for several hours, and we had to follow up ourselves. We were also very disappointed with how a room upgrade request to a sea-view room was handled. On-site, we were repeatedly told that no rooms were available, even though multiple suitable rooms were simultaneously available on Booking.com. Even after clearly stating that we were willing to pay an upgrade fee, we were only given a vague “maybe tomorrow,” with no follow-up whatsoever. For smokers, this hotel is completely unsuitable. Every time you want to smoke, you must leave the hotel entirely and walk to the entrance area. There are no seating options and no designated, comfortable smoking area. This is extremely disappointing and poorly managed for a hotel claiming to be a 5-star resort. Additionally, a large number of external visitors are constantly present throughout the hotel and lobby, significantly diminishing both the sense of security and the resort atmosphere. In the evenings, people were even sleeping in the lobby, which is absolutely unacceptable for a hotel in this price range. Without the casino and the completely overpriced mall (even by Philippine standards), this hotel would, in my opinion, be no more than a 2- to 3-star property. Conclusion: Despite the friendly staff, we cannot recommend this hotel and would not stay here again. It was the most expensive yet by far the worst hotel we experienced during our five-week trip through the Philippines. The value for money is very poor — there are significantly better alternatives in Cebu for the same price.

We had a memorable stay at Nustar Resort! The reception area was adequate and check in was quuck. We were then billeted to our room which had a great view!!! The room was spacious with ample natural light which livened up my mood! Waking up to the Cebu City view on one side and the sea on the other side was a good start of the day. My children loved swimming in their pool and spending time in the bathtub 😁 Everything was clean and service was impeccable! Thanks to our butler who made sure we truly enjoyed our stay! Breakfast was at Fili, the puto maya and sikwate was lovely! Hope they open their own restaurant. I bet that would make the experience more memorable! The staff were very friendly and accommodating! We will definitely come back!

A well-air-conditioned indoor playground that kids will really enjoy. There are so many areas for children to explore slides, ball pits, climbing nets, trampolines, pretend play zones, and activity tables that keep them busy and engaged. The space feels safe, clean, and thoughtfully designed, with bright colors that make it fun and inviting. Parents can also comfortably watch while kids play. Overall, it’s a nice place for kids to burn energy, play freely, and have fun, especially on hot or rainy days. The type of socks you is something that has grip (they have available) and the fee is around 600-800, there might be additional for adult/guardian. Great experience and I may come ba k again soon.

Nustar is the highly sought after hotel in our city, even as locals. And i was curious to check in that i kept checking for a year until an occasion made me do it, but luckily agoda offered an affordable rate. The whole establishment is good, clean and modern when all things considered. The prices inside are not as wild as i imagined. But i need to share that the staff are not as accomodating as i imagined they would. I swear. Also, theres some smell in the bathroom and the ac is problematic at night.

The rooms here are very clean, the service is professional and staff is friendly, and it is connected to a mall. Furthermore, the location is next to the ocean which is very nice and you can walk to another mall which is not to far (along the ocean). There is also another mall called SM, which is not too far but a taxi is necessary to get there. Overall, I think it is worth staying to see what you think. I believe you won't be disappointed.

Nustar Casino Hotel in Cebu is pure luxury. From the moment I arrived, everything felt elegant and well thought out. The rooms are spacious, spotless, and offer amazing views of the city and ocean. The staff are incredibly polite and attentive, making sure every detail is taken care of. The casino is lively and upscale, with a great mix of tables and slot machines. The restaurants inside are top-notch, offering a variety of food options that truly impress. Whether you’re there to relax, play, or just enjoy a premium experience, Nustar delivers on all fronts. Definitely one of the best hotels in Cebu 🎰✨

The NuStar Hotel Resort and Casino is top-notch. Rooms are clean and spacious with all the amenities of a world class hotel/resort. The staff are very efficient and very courteous at all times. ||The Concierge (Jake & Jam) were very helpful with the arrangements for our shuttle back to Mactan Airport. ||The people in the Front Desk, Duane, was very efficient and very enthusiastic in making sure that our room preferences were met. He made the checking-in process smooth and stress free.||Btw, in the many times that my wife and I have taken holiday breaks in Cebu, our NuStar experience has brought it to a higher level. |I could safely add that they have the BEST BREAKFAST BUFFET we have ever had!||Thank you, Nustar!
