Nuuk International Airport

The airport is new, but seems very weird when you arrive. Basically you are going in the waiting and duty free area so that you'd get to the exit to go outside. There is only one belt for luggage which is nice, and once you pass this you enter the main hall which is like one big room with an unmanned reception in the middle. If you want to save money, take bus number 3 right in front of the entrance, just look at my photos where to wait, and make sure you have Danish kronor because you can only pay by cash. The airport has a cafe and a restaurant as well as a small souvenirs store which is nice in case you've missed buying one in the city. There are no clear public announcements, but just a notification from the staff at the gates. Overall, it was a nice experience to see this side of Greenland.

Very inefficient. 4 beautiful brand new self drop off stations, but all of them closed. Had to wait in line and witness the struggle between the staff at the counter and their laptop. Boring. 5 flights today only, and the line was so long that it reached to the OUTSIDE of the airport building. How is that even possible? Not to mention the security checks, where more than 70% of the bags had to go through a special inspection, blocking completely the flow of passengers. Rarely seen such a mess.

Very clear airport with nice and helpful staff. What I didn't like much was that you need to go through security even for domestic connection flights. Another thing that could be done better here is some public transport information. Luckily for me, I have data and the lady available at the information counter was very willing to get some information for me about that.

This isn't your sprawling, bustling international hub; it's a cozy, efficient little airport that feels incredibly personal. From the moment you land (often with breathtaking views of the fjords!), you get that immediate sense of being somewhere truly special. The check-in is quick, the security line is often non-existent, and before you know it, you're either heading out to explore Nuuk or hopping on one of those incredible propeller planes for an even deeper dive into Greenland. It’s got everything you need – a small cafe for a coffee, a shop for last-minute souvenirs, and wonderfully friendly staff. It's the perfect, no-fuss start or end to an unforgettable Arctic adventure. Five stars for being the most charming little airport with the biggest views! 🙏🏻☘️

We had a great experience arriving here in Nuuk - July 2025. Our return trip was quite early in the morning and check in was very slow though. It's a new, smaller airport and I'm sure as more international visitors travel, things will improve.

Oh my! We were excited to be flying out of Nuuk’s new ‘international’ airport after an expedition cruise. Just because they were shut one day because of the security staff going reindeer hunting, just because they were actually closed to international flights because they weren’t up to snuff (just a few days before we were due to fly out) - I was still willing to give them a chance. How bad could they be? Pretty bad as it turns out. We arrived in the last tranche of passengers to leave our ship (so maybe 250 odd?) - can only say thank heavens there weren’t two ships disgorging passengers that day. This is a small airport. In less than a year, it’s been outgrown. We walked into the terminal and it was packed. Out of all the people who got there before us, it didn’t look like many had been processed. The queues to check in were snaking back and forward onto themselves, We put up with this in the final queue that was closest to the entry door for about 5 minutes. Then I saw a local use one of the 4 (or 5) - really - not enough - self-service machines. I usually avoid these things, and didn’t know my PNR/Booking reference - but left hubby in the queue and took 2 steps to the nearest machine - WOO HOO! We knew we were flying Air Greenland and that was all we needed - scanned the passports, the machine found our booking, selected sets and printed bag tags - that was us, walked to the chaotic bag drop area where the handling staff were incredibly overwhelmed, almost got into a fisticuffs with some fool who thought we were pushing into the check-in queue - so had to wave our boarding passes and then just pushed the bags into the general area that was getting loaded onto trolleys. Cue the next circle of hell. There are three automated gates where you scan your boarding pass to get to actual Security. (only 3!) Which would have probably worked ok. One was functioning. The second was blocked with a family of 4 who were struggling and the 3rd was blocked by the posterior of the staff member helping the family. So 1 of 3 ‘working’. But there was no rush as there are two massive security screening belts and machines… but only enough staff to make one work. These are the ‘new’ machines where you don’t have to take much out of your bags - BUT - only 1 in say 8 bags made it through - which meant the other 7 bags had to be scanned/inspected/swabbed by another 2 staff. Eventually airside. Already busy, was packed to the rafters by the time we were called. Air Greenland sells a premium product but you wouldn’t know it in the airport - no lounge, no priority boarding, just sit close to your gate then wait for chaos to board. And it’s the only Duty Free in the world that doesn’t have actual perfume testers. Fail. Fail. Fail. They built this place for the capacity they used to need - it is outgrown and dated less than 1 year old.

New terminal in Nuuk has everything what you need from airport lot's of seatts, good offer for souvenirs, food for trip and what is most important: 3 check in gates, so you don't need to be at the airport 2h or more. 1,15h is enough. There is also silent area on the 1st floor . Everything clean Power sockets, free wifi and usb an charger C sockets as well near each two seats. Inside vert warm. Also extra room for smokres
