***UPDATED BELOW***
There is no way I can give this trip a 5 Star.
This is the third time we have stayed at Camp David and will probably be the last.
We arrived Friday 8/1, unloaded the car and headed to town to have dinner before seeing Carousal. The show ended about 10:30 and we stopped by Safeway as there wasn't sugar for our coffee. We returned to the cabin abound 11:30 to not one light shining anywhere on the property. The light by the parking area was off. I would assume it would be photosensitive to provide light once the sun sets. We were able to use the phone flashlights to reach the porch without tripping.
That night I tried to charge my phone and watch on the nightstand closest to the outside wall. Didn't matter which plug I tried, it immediately fell out of the socket.
The next morning, I showered. I travel many times a year for both business and pleasure and have never had a worse showerhead. Ever.
Later that evening, we jumped in the jacuzzi to find that less than half of the jets were operational. Didn't matter what tricks we tried with the dials.
But the piece de resistance was Sunday morning at 4:00AM when we were awaken to what sounded like a train outside the bedroom window. It stopped after about 10 seconds and not sure what it was, we laid back down to sleep, only to have the same sound happen 2 minutes later. And then 2 minutes after that. We realized it was the sprinkler system spraying water at the side of the cabin. This unbelievably loud noise happened every 2 minutes for ONE HOUR!
Guess what happened Tuesday morning at 4:00AM? Yes. Another hour laying awake listening to a "every 2 minute" wakeup call.
My 2 cents to your reply:
Lighting ***When we were leaving, I saw the big light near the parking area. Shame on me for assuming it would be on when we got back.
Sugar ***Suppling coffee but no sugar or powder creamer doesn't make much sense. I wasn't complaining. Just surprised.
Bedroom Outlet ***Then you must have adjusted or replaced it as there was no way a plug was staying in that outlet.
Showerhead ***If it is the same showerhead from our first visit, that was 10 years ago. Might be time for a change or at least cleaning.
Hot Tub Jets ***Not true. I turned every dial, in every combination. Sure a small jet (very minimal) came out, but the jets closest to the cabin were the only one that had any power at all.
Sprinklers ***Ok, two things. We were not going to get out of bed at 4:00AM and "fix" an issue that should never have been an issue. Secondly, we had no idea it was going to happen again.
Mark, we truly strive to create a comfortable, enjoyable experience for every guest. What’s most disappointing is that we were not given the chance to resolve these issues during your stay. Many of these concerns could have been addressed within minutes.
***We were not concerned with the first 5 points. Number 6 was ridiculous. It never should have happened. Whoever set up the path of that spray didn't have a clue what they were doing. And as I said above, we had no idea it was going to happen again.
I will be posting a public response to your review as well, since it impacts not only our company but also the future of this particular cabin. We greatly value our returning guests, and I hope you’ll consider that open communication during your stay could have led to a far better outcome for everyone.
I hope you also might reconsider your review and remove it, since we were unaware of these concerns during your stay. Had we been given the opportunity, we could have resolved each of them quickly to ensure a more enjoyable experience for you.
***I would not have even posted the review if you had responded to my email reply to your "Share your experience" email I sent 8/5. All I got was crickets.
***Do what you must, but the most glaring thing in this email is not once did you apologize or say you were sorry. That speaks volumes about your company.
