Now that’s how you pour a pint! I had the pleasure of being served by Michelle, she’s AWESOME! I had never been here before and I was so excited. I’m a home brewer and had loads of questions about the beer. Michelle answered all of them, she even let me sample a few before I committed to a pint of their bent prop Pilsner (which was super crushable). The steak and fries were mighty fine too. Overall excellent experience with Michelle being the highlight! I highly recommend!

Google
Fantastic food and beer. Recommend the Ragged Pine pale ale for the beers. I got the brisket donair with fries and it was delicious. Having had donair and brisket all over Canada, this was one of the best. The truffle mac and cheese also looked great. It was very busy, about a 25min wait, definitely expect a wait if you come for dinner. Worth it though. Servers were friendly. Definitely check it out if you’re in town.

Google
We visited on Wednesday (not open for lunch.) They open at 4pm. They serve lunch on Thur to Sun, so check first. Several locals recommended this place. Since we were walking and exploring the town, we thought we stopped in to use the restroom and try their beers. This place had a great atmosphere and local vibe. Within the first-round of opening the place filled up quickly. The food portions we saw from the other tables were huge! I wish we had time to grab dinner here, but at least we were able to sample the local beers. I would still recommend.

Google
Amazing atmosphere and great tasting foods and drinks. Their draft beer was fresh and great, their steak sandwich and mac & cheese was very delicious at the way to the old town Yellowknife. I’d really enjoyed and have a great time with lovely food and beer.

Google
This place is truly one-of-a-kind! You can feel the love, dedication, and sheer hard work poured into every corner of it. Visiting again after a few years left me genuinely blown away (AGAIN)— it’s even more impressive than I remembered guys! We also got to try your latest feature - Forager Gin - (a new personal favorite) and wow… next level. Anyone reading this review, you absolutely cannot visit Yellowknife without making a stop here! Trust me!

Google
Atmosphere is kinda good. Staff were very nice. We loved the steak, but the wings tasted very weird. A bit expensive though

Google
Food was outstanding. Ordered the pulled pork sandwich with mac and cheese. Drinks were also delicious and fairly priced. Would come again!!!

Google
The Tee Time Lager and the Bent Prop IPA were both very good. They also serve food, the ceviche contained local trout if I recall correctly and was great. The bartenders were also friendly and prompt.

Yelp
Call it NWT Brewing Co/Woodyard/Brew Pub, but whatever name you use for this place, this is a must stop in Yellowknife. I've been to the Brew Pub many times now. It's my go to place. Firstly, the beer is fantastic. There is everything from wheat beers to IPAs, to porters, including a couple of seasonal beers in the mix. I've never had a bad one, and if you haven't been there then maybe try a flight. I have my faves (Turbid Wit & the Oatmeal Porter), which I typically keep going back to. But their seasonal beers are always worth a try. Now if you are thinking that the Brew Pub is only good for beer, you would be wrong. The restaurant part is equally as good. I've had the Flatbreads (pizzas), Chicken Sandwiches, Mac & Cheese, and Burgers. All delish ! Hard to go wrong here. Portion sizes are decent and my meal has always come hot out of the kitchen. I've always had great experiences with the staff there. Keep in mind that this is a very popular place in YK, so of course you have realize that you may have to wait to be initially seated. I've never waited for longer than 10 mins, in any of the times I've been there. Technically they don't take reservations, but I've had larger groups, and we have been accommodated. I've also never been to the Brew Pub when it isn't busy, yet they always have a number of staff to serve you quickly. Overall, a great spot for a cold beer and a bite. My only gripe is that the noise level is always high, and at the end of the evening your voice can be a bit strained.

Yelp
good food. excellent beer. Thing is, it says here they're open till 10:00. It's 8:50 and they're already goilong around taking "last call" orders and chivvying people to get ready to leave, even though it's relatively busy still. This kind of shit happens all the time.

Yelp
Stopped by while walking in Old Town Yellowknife. Great ambiance and staff. The food was fantastic and of course their beers are quite good! They have lots to choose from.

Yelp
I do not recommend this place as there's few seating and staff had a poor management on the waitlist. We arrived at 6:30pm last night. We didn't have reservation and was told that it could take an hour before we could get our seats. We left our phone number as contact, walked around the neighbourhood and came back at 7:20pm when the phone got an automatic text message saying that our table was almost ready. We arrived and saw a group ahead of us just entered. The waitress at front said we have to wait another hour and that the text message wasn't accurate. What's the point of first-come-first-served and creating a wait list if you don't follow the list and will just sit groups at random? 0 stars out of 5. We left for Black Knights Pub instead of waiting for yet another hour.

Yelp
Overall a good place to eat at. Location is good. This place needs to play Zach Bryan music.

Yelp
With stressful times, high turn over, and the celebratory season....I will admit, I wasn't terribly impressed this time around with service quality. My reso was lost in the ether, and was told I was the lucky one that they could "squeeze" me in. I asked about the beers, and was asked what I liked....reasonable, but I wanted to hear wjat had recently been created and their new best sellers....which I didnt get. The poutine trio we got was pretty dry (lacking sauce), and our server was not very approachable. I'd usually chaulk it up to being busy, though there was a lot of chatter amongst the servers by the bar that seemed excessive whilst people waited for their bills...or me, who wanted to know more about the product. No real recommendations were offered....but was very happy woth the goat cheese dip! After the sour beer that was recommended because I usually like a fruity type beer....that was not my cup of tea, nut choked it down.....a sample would've been appreciated before I committed to a pint. The pickled Caesar was "meh". My partner loved the breadbowl with chickpeas and such. So not a terrible experience, but had high hopes....perhaps I set the bar too high during these times....I hope things will return to the excellent service, drink, and food that I've experienced when this establishment first opened.

Yelp
Small and intimate brewery with a friendly staff. If you order the House and Premium flight, you'll be able to try all of their beers in one go (and then decide which one you like). Foodstuff is awesome - mac n cheese and putine were superb. Salads we're solid. Only minor regret was the chicken wings that were a tad dry. Overall a great place to booze and dine.

Yelp
Definitely the place to be in town. Brewhouse with surprising variety of beers. Rustic log feel inside and good sized. Wood seats. Busy place. Great place to hang out. They have a patio. In old town. The large Unisex washroom takes some getting used to. Limited menu due to covid. Regular pub food comes with fries. But they have salads. Meals a tad expensive for what you get. But nice vibe so I would definitely return.

Yelp
Best place in Yellowknife! We came here every day to drink their amazing bug repellent IPA and to chat with the friendly staff. The food here is amazing and not your typical bar food - the chef takes it to another level! Do yourself a favor and have a drink and a meal here.

Yelp
Friday February 22nd around 6pm we went to visit this spot, unfortunately we couldn't have the whole experience because we were literally kicked out by a manager with a terrible attitude that poorly handle a sitting assignment situation made by his host lying in our face. I don't know what was his problem that day but we felted not welcomed and we left. Thank you for your response, but nothing the fact the way the manager treated/asked us to moved once we were located on the table assigned for a supposed rearrangement of tables. Yes, we waited in another high table of another section, but for the manager to call us back to be seated on the original table that he promised to us. We didn't order anything and we kept saying to everyone that we were waiting our table. It looks like we were discriminated from that section just for being Asian, American or Latin or for wearing customary winter clothes that most of the people visiting the city is wearing, who knows what crossed this manager head. I usually don't do reviews of places, but this was a really a sad experience and I need to stand for myself. This was the only negative highlight of my trip to the NWT and the worst treatment I have ever received in Canada.

Yelp
Poor service results in (update: complaining about poor service gets one banned from this "establishment") me waiting for an incorrect burger to be replaced while my friend eats and I get hungry-er and the "experience" twice as long as it should be. (AND THE BUN ON THE REPLACEMENT BURGER WAS REFRIGERATOR COLD)
google avatar

Yelp
Every time I come here, service is always ready for your order. Their multi beers on tap that is created in house, is definitely some thing to try in the north (the only brewery in the NWT) If your out an about, check this place out. Food is always on point and beer is always cold.

Yelp
Went to visit the brewery with some colleagues while in town for a conference, and this place did not disappoint. Food was fantastic and interesting- I had the veggie burger, and the edamame with stout salt (a weekly special!) which was very filling reasonably priced. My colleagues shared the veggie tempura which was crisp and not too greasy, and the Great Slave Charcuterie. Our server Sam was friendly and helpful, and went above and beyond what was necessary to make sure that we were comfortable. The beers were delicious, not too "craft-y" for my Coors-loving friend, but interesting enough to please the beer snob in our group. An adorable spot with a short and sweet menu that's to die for!

Yelp
We stumbled in here on a recommendation. Turned out it was a great suggestion. We found ourselves here daily over our 6 day stay in town. Got a chance to try out a collection of beverages. Tried out their hibiscus ale, a citrus wheat sour, a flight of their beers they offered, as well as mojitos and margaritas. We got a chance to try a bunch of their food : vegetable curry, poutine, goat cheese salad, Woodward nachoes, and the baked Mac and cheese (that came with a corn dog sausage). Everyone here was really friendly, and offered suggestions for things to do in town. It was neat seeing this place as a gathering place for all kinds of people. Also the only brewery in the NWT currently.

Yelp
It's a good place to stay and enjoy the wonderful afternoon. There are two souvenir shops next to here. It's very convenient to visit.

Yelp
Worth the long trip up north! Nice space to hang out, friendly service, and great tasting beer. Props to whoever runs your social media and marketing. I'd been wanting to check this place out for a long time and so glad I did.

Yelp
There's nothing else like it in Yellowknife, and that's only partly what makes it a must-try. Their food is hearty and healthy with a great variety to choose from. Their staff are super friendly. They've got drinks for days and even a great cider list (for non-beer drinkers). My only request: Let customers pick their temperature for burgers. I like mine medium :)
google avatar

Ted R.

Yelp
The Shack Burger & Fried Chicken Sandwich never disappoint, they are delicious. I would recommend either of these family favourites matched with any side available. The online order and pick up service is easy to use and the staff are fast and friendly! Have a growler of your preferred brew to top off the meal!

Yelp
This is one of my friends favorite's. It's very trendy rustic/ farm house looking with wonderful ambiance and dim lights. I have tried the Korean Fried Tofu Sandwich $15, The Shack Burger $16, Pork Tacos $15 --only 2 :( , Honey, Thyme & Cinnamon glaze Crispy Buttermilk Chicken Wings $16--overcooked, dry and burned :( and their daily soup, it was OK. I enjoyed the Korean Fried Tofu Sandwich and The Shack Burger the most. The staff it's friendly when you are about to order but they never come back after that. Had to approach to the bar for drinks and water. Bring your sunscreen and fight a patio table in summer time and enjoy your favorite locally brew NWT beer with seasonal options and a good chat with friends. My favorite NWT beer: KickSled Cream Ale. But if it is your first time here, try the beer flight. They also have a great choice of cocktails, just make sure to state that you want short glass, I got 1oz cocktail serve in a mason jars so I could only taste juice :( If you want to have a conversation come early, it gets busy and loud after work and you literally have to yell. It is definitely a great after work hanging place so be sure to behave or not ;) Features: SHACK ATTACK MONDAYS - Starting @5PM Shack Burgers on for $10 TACO TUESDAY! $5 tacos starting @5PM Every Wednesday $10 Pizza's starting @5PM

Yelp
Wow! I wonder why I always only bumped into Asians tourists in town, until I come here! This is where all the rest of the tourists and potentially locals are hiding!!! I feel like I am back to Canada!!! The service was like any busy pub, attentive enough to keep the drinks flowing and take your order at the right time! I had the ambrrr, it was alright. The flat iron steak was cooked right (medium), but very very rich with all the different sauce and how the vegetables are cooked. The meal was a bit on the salty side, without any beer! So drink up! I would recommend you come here at least once even you are just staying in Yellowknife for two days. The price was reasonable, the ambience and the quality of food definitely paid off!

Yelp
I would NEVER recommend this establishment for tourists. I wish we'd have read the many negative comments on here before we took a taxi to get there from our hotel. Upon entering the restaurant my 22 year-old daughter was asked for ID. Coming from the USA we assumed this was for drinking alcohol and my daughter had a picture of her ID and I vouched as her mother, this was not okay. It's perfectly fine that the laws obviously need to be followed but at no time did the hostess mention we needed ID to even eat food. Sorry nice they sat us, gave us menus knowing my daughter didn't have her ID we still thought we could eat but she could not have alcohol, the way it is literally anyplace I've been in the world. Then the hostess blatantly embarrassed us by calling over I believe the owner/manager who very rudely said we couldn't stay. Let me add we have traveled all over the world (Europe, India, Dubai, etc) and have never been treated so rudely and abruptly. We even discussed calling another taxi and going back for her ID, now if anyone that interacted with us would have explained the "law" that you can't even order food without ID, or offered to call us a taxi to go get her ID, or been the least bit pleasant that would have been fine but after reading the other reviews on here I see this is a pattern of bad customer service in general. I'd love to add that we walked down to the Dancing Moose and had a wonderful lunch with exceptional customer service aNd as tourists would highly recommend you try there instead.

Yelp
They can't seem to cope when it's quite full. Waited an hour once order went in, not a big order - soup, salads and burger. Asked where food was after an hour - then said it would be ready in 15 min. I think they lost the order. Seems to happen here from what my friends tell me. So didn't have a chance to eat, had to get to a function.

Yelp
We were in town on our way to and from Hay River for Arctic Winter games and we spent every waking minute in YK here. The beer and the food were fantastic, the best poutine we had on our trip. Great atmosphere and our waitress was a great server and ambassador for NWT. My only regret was the Lumbersexual never got tapped while we were in town, but left us reason to visit again.
google avatar

Shane C.

Yelp
Wonderful Staff, always friendly and always try to accommodate. Fantastic food and atmosphere, which are bonuses since the dozen or more artisanal crafted beers are all great. The cocktail menu is creative and authentic and the serving time is usually pretty quick. If going any week night, plan to wait a little to get in if between 5-8pm as happy hour is very popular for locals. This is a great spot in the OldTown of Yellowknife.

Yelp
Great wings. Super local brews. Good servers. Everyone is knowledgeable on the beers on tap
google avatar

Yelp
This brewery restaurant way exceeded our expectations! The ambience is hipstery and chilled, food was excellent, beers are even better. I had the house platter, their house-made hummus and beer cheese dip is delicious! For entree I shared the fish burger with my boyfriend, it was light and very fresh, one of the best fish burgers I've ever had. I got the beer flight for drinks, I liked the Turbird Wit the most!
google avatar

Rick H.

Yelp
Great place for beer and food. I had the ipa. Delicious. Also had the pork tacos. Really good. Great for groups
google avatar

Cynthia H.

Yelp
Super friendly service! Tried their beef dip and it was really good! Their beer is on point too and all brewed right there. The waitress was absolutely amazing and it was a really cozy atmosphere. Definitely recommend!

M K.

Yelp
Amidst restaurants that change their closing times/days without notice on either yelp or even their storefront... This place is a gem. And not just because they meet this basic minimum requirement. Their beer is superb. The beer flight and premium beer flight are both highly recommended for anyone who has a hard time choosing one beer among so many awesome choices (like myself!). The charcuterie board and beet salad are both fresh and awesome. If you come here multiple times, you can even enjoy the different platings for the board. Staff are friendly. Restroom decor is fun. And restrooms are clean. Overall best food and drinks in Yellowknife during our stay.
google avatar

Liam M.

Yelp
Great place to go for some food and a drink. Great atmosphere and awesome service. Can be a little loud, so if you're looking for a quiet bite to eat this may not be the place.

Yelp
The only brewery in all of the Northwest Territories! and thankfully they do it right. We visited NWT/The Woodyard several times during our stay in Yellowknife, as it was conveniently located in Old Town, near the docks. The place has a fun & vibrant atmosphere and is easily one of the social and foodie hubs of the entire town. I stuck to one beer while there - the Kicksled Cream Ale, and absolutely loved it. It was light and crisp, but still had body and wasn't bitter. One of the best beers I have had. We had dinner there several times, and while nothing on the menu knocked us off our chairs, everything we ate was quality and fulfilled the new hip foodie credo of "comfort food with a twist". But, we did try the Saturday brunch once and that was pretty fantastic. I had the chicken and waffles, which was such a huge portion I was still eating leftovers the next day. Their fried chicken has a pretty unique twist with it's maple sriracha sauce. We also got the Brewmaster's Poutine with chorizo and that, frankly, was a masterpiece of Canadian culinary arts. NWT/TheWoodyard is a fantastic local watering hole and a mecca for foodies who crave modern comfort foods as a change of pace from the usual Yellowknife fare. It's also one of the few places in town that is open late!
google avatar

Bruno A.

Yelp
Really good chicken and waffles, spicy but the perfect amount. Only had an IPA, really good.

Ag L.

Yelp
Very nice place for beer & food, atmosphere are very cool. Must go restaurant in Yellowknife
google avatar

James W.

Yelp
Best mac n cheese ever !! Honey Brown Nut and cream ale were delicious! As well as the wings,'some of the best I've had. Staff did a great job accommodating our large group.
google avatar

Julie M.

Yelp
Stoped in to this restaurant when driving in the area. Very friendly staff with great service. It was toco Tuesday so decided to try all 4 options. The were all delicious and had wonderful flavour. Definitely would go back to this spot.

Kristi S.

Yelp
Great little spot - good service and great food. I had the chicken burger which was so savoury! Great homemade fries as well which I didn't really want but since they they were out of their daily side and weren't willing to substitute much I didn't have many options. Also, they could invest in a couple more options for ciders for those who don't drink beer. All in all I was fairly happy with the food and service here, I would go back if I was ever in the area again!
google avatar

Tim V.

Yelp
Went with my son Will and his friend Paul and had a great time with the premium Flight while they enjoyed the regular. Nachos and tacos delicious and the food I saw being served to others looked amazing! Great place!
google avatar

Adam O.

Yelp
This is one of my favorites in Yellowknife! The food is awesome and goes great with the local brews. The Buttermilk Fried Chicken Sandwich is perfect. Get here early or be prepared to wait, but it is well worth it!
google avatar

Meg O.

Yelp
I've been to NWT Brewing and The Woodyard twice now. I'm very happy that this place exists in YK! I love craft beer! Most recently, I tried the Bug Light beer. It's a delicious light IPA. Flavorful and tart, but not heavy and aggressively hopped. Perfect for a warm, sunny day. As far as the food goes, I've had the Wild Mushroom Pizza and the House Greens salad. Both were tasty and contained good quality ingredients. My sister and good friend swear by the Vegan Bowl. They could very easily create an amazing house made veggie burger. I would totally order that. Love the decor and atmosphere here also.

The F.

Yelp
Everything is great. The food, the beer, the atmosphere. Only two complaints 1. Price of Beer (where are the specials?) 2. Closed on Sunday (how quaint)
google avatar

Jennifer P.

Yelp
A friend took me here my second night in town and I was really impressed. Server was very attentive, apps were hot and tasty, and beer selection was impressive. Even had a couple of vegan/veg options. We sat for a couple of hours and never felt rushed. Would totally recommend!

Lindsey D.

Yelp
Blond waitress was so kind, so sweet, this was our first and best experience in Yellowknife. The food was so good and the beer was great, I kept wanting to return to this place.

Reese L.

Yelp
I walked into NWT Brewing starving and craving a drink and was so happy to see that it felt just like home! And by home, I mean a Brooklyn brewery vibe with great decor, jolly employees, good company, and of course, delicious beer and food. Brian was my server and the owner and his wife were at the end of the bar. Everyone was incredibly friendly and engaging, which I appreciated considering I was traveling alone. I tried the flight and from there, I think I chose a honey or a maple beer. Whatever it was, it hit the spot. Food wise, I ordered the chowder and it was enough. I expected a New England based chowder but it was Manhattan. I almost sent it back but am happy I didn't because it was sooo yummy! I highly recommend visiting here, especially if you're looking for more exciting night or daylife around YK. The brewery has a good energy to it and I can't say enough about the staff. I will visit YK again and when I do, this'll definitely be a place I return to. Check it out everyone!
