Very nice and relaxing place. Make sure you don't miss something called the bamboo walk, I almost did. The bamboo grew so tall it made almost a tunnel over the walkway! Anyway, it's a little pricey at 20000 RWF, but you can use a credit card. Just as a warning, they will try to take your water bottles (there are trashcans everywhere, but apparently they're still worried someone might litter?), I told them I am keeping my water bottles or I'm not coming in and paying. I kept my water bottles in my backpack.

Honestly my expectations were blown out of the water. The maintenance of this place was beyond most parks I’ve been to. Perfect for a walk, run, bike ride. I believe the trails add up to about 6.5 km but they were helpful in suggesting how to make it my desired distance for a run.

The place was serene, beautiful and the nature absolutely beautiful. The environment had butterflies and birds which I absolutely enjoyed. For whatever reason, I expected a tour guide but I guess there was no need for one. At some point, I felt lost so I just turned back. I also didn't leave with the same gate I came in with and I couldn't really figure out how to get there. Not a bad thing at all. Just shows how "big" the place is. I only wish there was better directions around the place.

You'll need to pay an access fee of 20k rwf to gain access to the park. You have WIFI access at the reception, the park has a recreational center, a restaurant and access to rent bikes for sights seeing. The park has a pond, Pond Kivu located in Sector 3, there's a lake at sector 5 but that's a long walk. The park is serene, a great place to exercise, go for a picnic and even meditate.

Nyandungu Eco-Park – A Peaceful Nature Escape Loved this quiet green oasis in Kigali! Perfect for birdwatching, gentle walks, and reconnecting with nature. The well-maintained trails and peaceful atmosphere make it ideal for relaxation. Small suggestion: Providing maps at reception would help visitors explore better. Still, a wonderful spot to unwind away from the city!

Stepping into Nyandungu Forest is like exhaling a breath you didn’t know you were holding. Hidden right within Kigali’s urban embrace, this lush sanctuary is a living, breathing testament to Rwanda’s deep respect for nature, conservation, and community healing. The moment you enter, the noise of the city fades away and is replaced by the rustle of reeds, the chirp of birds, and the gentle hum of wetland life. The walking and cycling trails are immaculately maintained, perfect for reflection or recreation. Whether you’re strolling alone or with friends, every turn gifts you with scenic views, migratory birds dipping across the water, medicinal gardens showcasing Rwanda’s rich herbal heritage, and artistic rest spots that call you to sit and soak in the beauty. What touches the soul most deeply is the park’s story: from a degraded wetland to a restored ecosystem. It’s not just a forest, it’s a second chance. A symbol of resilience and rebirth. Rwanda always finds a way to bloom, and Nyandungu is proof of that spirit. This place is for everyone, the tired, the joyful, the curious, and the dreamers. Bring your camera, bring your journal, or just bring your heart. Kigali may be known for its cleanliness and calm, but Nyandungu gives it a pulse of green magic. 🌱 Rating: 5/5 🕊️ Mood: Peaceful, Healing, Inspiring 📍 Must-Do: Try the medicinal garden walk. And don’t forget to visit during golden hour, it’s poetic!

I visited Nyandungu Urban Wetland Eco-Tourism Park on a Saturday and loved it so much that I went back on Sunday, it’s now something I want to make a weekly ritual. The park is breathtaking, calm, and beautifully designed, with long stretches of greenery, walkways, and well-kept spaces that make you forget you’re still in Kigali. The entry fee is affordable: I paid 3,000 RWF as a foreigner with a visa. For Rwandan citizens and residents, the price is lower (around 1,000–2,000 RWF depending on the category), which makes it very accessible for everyone. It’s worth every franc for the experience. Getting there is easy, the park sits between Kimironko and Masoro, just a short drive from most parts of the city. There’s ample parking at the entrance, so arriving by car isn’t a problem. Inside, the walkways are smooth and safe, perfect for solo walks, family strolls, or jogging. You’ll find benches along the paths to rest, shaded areas to cool down, and plenty of spots to pause and take in the scenery. There are also clean facilities and a café where you can grab a drink after your walk. Walking through the wetland trails, watching families, runners, and nature lovers enjoy the space, I felt both relaxed and inspired. Nyandungu is a true escape inside the city and a reminder of Kigali’s commitment to green living and preserving nature. Highly recommended if you’re looking for peace, fitness, or quality time outdoors. Tips for first-time visitors: - Best time to go: early morning (for a quiet walk) or late afternoon (to enjoy the cooler breeze and softer light). - Bring water, sunscreen, and a hat if visiting during the day—there are shaded areas but large parts of the path are open. - Wear comfortable walking or running shoes, as the trails are long and it’s tempting to keep exploring. If you’re a runner, this is a perfect place to track laps without worrying about traffic. Families can bring kids, as the park is safe, clean, and stroller-friendly. Plan at least 1–2 hours to enjoy it fully, there are plenty of corners to discover.
