Yelp
From just the quick stop in for a sweet treat to top off our AYCE KBBQ dinner at SO KBBQ right next door, I'd say this place has a lot going for it.
Location, Location, Location. What better a place to hang your shingle as a Korean bakery than right next door to the hottest KBBQ place in NoVA?
The display counter and cases are right there before your eyes as you step through the entrance.
Loads of yummy pastries, all individually wrapped, both sweet and savory items. All of the classic Korean bakery items and some unique ones. All apparently made fresh daily in their back kitchen. All of the items are individually wrapped so they're easy to grab and take home to enjoy later. They also have beautifully decorated cakes in a refrigerated case up front (see my vid).
If you've never been to a Korean bakery before, you just have to try it. Pastries aren't the heavy, sickly sweet, doughy, greasy baked goods you find at classic American bakeries or donut shops. Korean pastries are subtly sweet, light, and airy where you can actually taste the fresh ingredients that go into making them. No comparison.
Prices are not break the bank - especially for baked goods made fresh that day.
PRO TIP: Pay with cash and get a 5% discount. It may not amount to much of a savings but every little bit helps, amiright?!. :)
The place is pretty big inside, spacious, bright and clean with a lot of seating to enjoy your goodies right there. They also serve coffee and latte drinks, smoothies, teas, milkshakes and bingsoo (Korean style flavored shaved ice) - see my pics of the menu sign boards and prices. Literally something for everyone.
Service was quick and friendly.
The place is open late - 9PM on weeknights and Sundays and 10PM on Fridays and Saturdays. (At least that's what their door sign said even though Yelp and even their own website shows 9PM close every day.) We got there around 8PM on a Saturday and it wasn't crowded at all.
Definitely recommend a stop-in after a SO KBBQ meal - even if you pick up a few baked goods to take home like we did.
