O Forno Pastelaria

After spending time on the sister island of São Miguel and feeling completely deprived of any decent baked goods I was thrilled to find O Forno in Angra on Terceira Island. Try the tuna sandwich on onion bread, the Dona Amelia’s and any of their large assortment of pastries.

Great location just off the City Center, and there were many locals waiting in line as we approached. A great sign! The line moved quick, as the typical work ethic here is inspiring to say the least. Anyway, wonderful choices of the local sweets, but don't wait too late in the day, as the inventory sells quickly here. We loaded up, had a couple double espresso's and still kept it under 5 Euro's. A must stop for your sweet tooth, and your caffeine fix.

We tried both Dona Amelia and Caretas. The Dona Amelia served at our hotel was better and we had a much better Caretas at the restaurant across the street the night before. Not sure what the hype is about.

The cinnamon bread sandwich is simply wonderful; they could improve their customer service training a bit, but I think that's a problem throughout Portugal. Otherwise, the food is acceptable.

A great selection of Azorean cakes and pastries. Too many to choose from…

Famous bakery in Angra do Heroismo. The pasteis de nata are very good even if the custard is a little liquid. The fresh orange juice was not sweet but the coffe was fine. I spent 7€ for 2 pasteis, 1 americano and 1 orange juice.

Glad we found and enjoyed the pastries at this famous bakery. Wonderful staff made our experience even better. Enjoy+++
