O Veleiro Bed and Breakfast

Rob, the owner, really is an icon, actually the first one to establish official real B&B in Brazil. He speaks fluent brazilian portugise and english and he is totally chill to talk with. He really cares for his clientes to have a great time, and if you have a special wish just ask him. The location is perfect for Rio, with Uber its easy to travel to most of the nice places within 10-20 minutes. He can tell you where to go and can organize things for you too, he has over 30 years of experience so you can trust him. The house is beautiful, the beds are good and the rooms have all you need. Breakfast is a sure 12/10 and you will like it. He even gives everyday fresh mostly homegrown fruit juices, fresh scrambled eggs (muito bom) and other things for breakfast. One day fresh pancakes too. Just try it yourself, it was the best thing we could book, especially over New Years Eve when Rio is totally chaotic, you will have your calm here. Fantastic place to stay. Beautiful garden and lovely rooms. Rob and Richard were extremely friendly, helpful and welcoming and went out of their way to look after us. Richard's breakfasts were amazing and a highlight of our stay. The B&B is in a pretty, quiet, safe residential area. We walked for 20 minutes to the local restaurants, mall and supermarket but getting an uber is very easy too. Very close to Christ the Redeemer. Highly recommend this- its a real gem.

Loved this gem of a bnb! Had a super cosy room to share with bonus hammocks to lounge in outside. The gardens and neighbourhood were beautiful. Easy location to uber from and get around. Got to enjoy a delicious breakfast and was welcomed by kind hosts. Highly recommend!!

We had a great experience. Although our room was nothing fancy, but it did have three beds and air conditioning that worked. What made this place special or the owners who we absolutely loved especially Rob, he was very engaging, and we shared a lot of stories. We love the grounds that it sets on, and we love all the plants and the two tortoise. The yard, the courtyard, and the house was very well kept and had great energy. It was a ways up the hill, if we were to go back to real, we would probably return to stay a night or two. This is a bed-and-breakfast. It was comfortable. But I do have to let you know we were informed that bed and breakfast is do not supply shampoos or conditioner. I guess that is a Brazilian thing not sure, but definitely worth a visit. I WOULD RECOMMEND

We stayed here for 5 nights and it was a great location to see all the sights easily. We booked Ubers and they came quickly to the door and you can get everywhere in no time at very reasonable prices. |The owners are really helpful giving advice on safety, banking etc. We had a really good breakfast each morning. No complaints.

Great place. Excellent value for money. Good quiet location and a nice safe part of the city. We enjoyed the walk down the hill into Botafogo especially after finding the short cut. If we didn't fancy the walk, we used Uber and had little difficulty in getting them to make the pick up.

Loved our stay at O Veleiro. We came for the carnival and were concerned that we were not staying in the prime spot, however we are so glad we stayed here instead of Copacabana etc. as it was so quiet and felt very safe in the local area. Rob and Richard were incredibly helpful and knowledgeable. They seem genuinely interested in everyone’s plans each day so they could give tips or alternative recommendations. Great place to start our few months travelling in South America and made us feel welcome and at ease - thank you ☺️

Amazing place to stay in Rio! We liked everything - room was very comfy, breakfast was good enough (especially we loved local fruits, fresh juice and brazilian coffee). Rob is excellent host and also a good interlocutor, he helped us a lot with advices about Rio. Territory of this hotel is lovely - everything is green, clean and stylish. Neighbourhood is also seemed to be safe and there was really beautiful spot with view at Sugar Loaf. It's just 20 minutes to go on foot to the subway. And I also want to mention cute dog and cat - Luna and Amora - we really felt like home! We were a bit afraid of coming to Rio because of crime situation, but thanks to this place we really enjoyed that vacation! Thank you so much for hospitality! Hope to come back here some day.
