"Classic Venue With Exquisite Wares Among the most loved and respected purveyors of fine antiques and Thai art is OP Place. Built in 1908, OP Place features a plethora of art galleries and shops offering a spectrum of wares ranging from Asian handicrafts to jewellery, fabrics, antiques, artworks, Thai silk and carpets. Even if you’re not in the market for antiques, the building itself deserves a visit. Neoclassic architecture and a manually operated lift add to the sense of grandeur."
Use to called Oriental Plaza. Very small compare to modern shopping center. Kind of old and nastalgic atmosphere Most shops are antique/ art and craft and jewellery shops some shop are opened over 20 years ago. most shop are gear towards high end clientele/tourist or local.

Bangkok design week, waited to enter the place for 1 h outdoor on the 40 C heat, without fans or anything. They said that you had to register online to enter without Q, but this information wasn’t stated anywhere in this event.

This is a neat place in some respects. It is attached to the Oriental hotel in Bangkok, probably the nicest hotel in thailand. It has lots of antiques, silks and tailors, but seemed a bit pretentious and over priced to us. We went and treated it a bit like name art exhibit, which was pretty fun. It is not somewhere I would be sad if I missed.

A little surreal. Just about hanging on to past glories. Half the shops are shut. The ones open have beautiful stuff, but no-one seems to care...I was quoted 70,000 baht for a small silver plated sculpture.

It is a little dated now with a few shops having closed. Still worth visiting for a few moments to look at the old decadence decor and check out the art gallery on the ground floor (they also have an outlet at the Mandarin Oriental next door) and the various antique and tailor shops.

Very upmarket but the antiques! I fell in love with one piece and was beautifully treated by the store owner... Not the stuff of every day, more the stuff of dreams... Beautiful building!
