10 Best Beach Towns in North Carolina

"A long public pier popular for fishing and shoreline views; the town surrounding it is noted as dog-friendly, with owners saying, 'Dogs are welcome, on a leash, anytime,' and locals recommending both casual beach days and seasonal visits in spring or fall for milder weather and impressive sunrises and sunsets." - Lydia Mansel Lydia Mansel Lydia Mansel is a writer with more than eight years of experience editing and writing for both brands and online publications—with a particular focus on travel, fashion, and lifestyle. We had a beautiful time here with the family so much shore to explore! Parking was not to hard to get...seems busy looking at it but lots of availability to enjoy for the day! Water was very warm!

Google
If you fish this is a great pier. Plenty of benches and 2 sinks fir cleaning your catch. I went for the view. You can also buy an alcoholic beverage at the bar to take on the pier. You can't take your own. The view is beautiful!

Oak island beach near Lazy Turtle is very nice. Plenty of space for everyone to put out beach tents, dogs were on leashes, clean and super fun!

Only spot you can park free for a couple hours. Great views and very calm. Didn't see anyone catch fish but I'm sure they are there!

Yelp
Wonderful place to walk the pier, sit back and enjoy the ocean breeze and views. Always fun to watch the fisherman making their catch. Always a fun place to visit and take it all in.

Yelp
It's a pier and it cost you to WALK on the pier. $1.00 per person. I couldn't believe it but I paid the $3.00 so we could walk on the PIER.Call me crazy but I just don't understand. I have never been to a pier off of a beach that I had to pay to walk on. Beautiful views from the pier but it is old and you can see where they have replaced wood beams along it. Plenty of benches for the fisherman to sit on. I believe you have to pay to fish off the pier as well. The pier is plenty long with lots of room for all the people that had to pay a $1.00 each. There is a bathroom right off the pier but you have to pay to use that too. And a water fountain but you guess it, you gotta pay to use that too. When back in Oak Island, I wouldn't come back. There are other piers that I can visit and don't have to pay for every single little thing for. But because the view was gorgeous - 3 stars.

Yelp
Also known as the Oak Island Fishing Pier, this great pier offers 50 cent walks for adults, which are also free for children. They the pier house offers food, clothing, bait, tackle, and beer. When I was there I met Tommy, the owner. He was extremely nice. I can't wait to go back and fish off of it this fall. North Carolina piers have a very rich history and I am grateful for each one which is kept open and maintained. The Yaupon Pier is no different, it is the tallest pier in NC, was built in 1955, rebuilt in 1972 and again in 1992. It is an asset to the East Coast. Be sure to read about its history and visit it if you have the chance!

Yelp
My family and I visited the pier on July 21, 2017. The pier is condemned until further notice.
