The doom and gloom reviewers must be from out of town. Like all cities none of them are perfect and none of them should be reviewed as corrupt, crime riddled . If you traveled to the wrong part of town then you weren't paying attention to your surroundings. Oakland is not a crime infested city ran by corrupt politicians . How can you say that you don't know how Oakland handles their business. Oakland have issues like most large cities in the country. Crime is down and our political representatives aren't corrupt maybe policy issues but not corrupt. There is a lot that Oakland have to offer . It's diverse and a safe place to live. So stop beating up on our city .

Don't come to this city, if you like your stuff. Because it will get stolen. No tinted windows will work. They will break your windows just to look in a empty car. Trash trash every where. If you want to get trapped in a wild sideshow and get your car smashed up. Visit Oakland

I don't get how people keep voting for the Mayor, City Council members, and School Board when crime is through the roof, car break-ins are a terrifying experience, and people don't even feel safe. I think Oakland has been high jacked by social activists who know nothing about the economy or human action, and are just driving Oakland down the drain. Read Murray Rothbard and stop making bad decisions.

First time there. Very pretty place especially while watching the Oakland symphony. The only thing shocking was that more people weren't there to enjoy.

There was a Good Friday service that Bishop Bob Jackson put together. It was 3 hours long the day was beautiful it was so Spirit-filled I thoroughly enjoyed myself. Are Council people Treva Reid was there as well as Lauren Taylor. Our chief of police got up to speak and he was so full of the spirit he had to calm himself down it was just an awesome day. Thank you Bishop Bob Jackson

I agreed completely, the city lack of accountability same as SF. Police are afraid of the criminals. CRIMlNALS are taking over both SF & Oakland. 911 calls went unanswered. I have never live in any city that 911 don’t answer emergency calls. They will have you go through voicemails to dial certain call to Oakland police. The police here are as coward as the UVALDE POLICE Department in Texas. Criminals & homeless took over the city. DON’T MOVE TO OAKLAND OR SAN FRANCISCO!!! These are RATS infected cities & seem like the incompetent Police & Governor NOT DOING ANYTHING ABOUT THEM!!!!! Your high taxes from income to property are paying for incompetent or corrupted cops & governments!

This city is messed up because of the lack of accountability from current city leadership and vacant positions. Toxic long-time city workers in comfortable positions and city workers treating residents like trash. While buttering the palms of their special interest. Cannot be trusted.

Yelp
Gorgeous building, home to many activist activities, and a beautiful and necessary piece to Downtown Oakland. Stunning archicture an building details. Must see in person, a photo (or at least mine) doesn't do it justice.

Yelp
Not sure who is responsible for cleaning up the homeless corridor by 12th St under the bridge that goes to Embarcadero way towards Coast guard Island by 15th Ave in Oakland was, but A great job was done since Barbara Lee has taken office and I applaud and appreciate this clearing work! Bravo to all! Bravo, Bravo, Bravo! I only hope that the homeless folks have been placed in dignified care and places where they can be safe and given the opportunity to improve their situation in a step by step process. I can offer an idea of a plan I came up with if an empty multi-floor office building with bathrooms on every floor could be used. If interested please message me. But meanwhile congratulations again on the clearing of that horrid corridor and maybe working on clearing the prostitution parade on International Blvd near that same area near the catholic school should be addressed next. Thank you, thank you, thank you!

Yelp
Once in awhile it's entertaining here in Oakland. Today they're having an outdoor Bay Area Blues event. Nice place to hang out grab some lunch and listen to some music. They even had a nice lady reading poetry. Wonderful atmosphere and people. If you have time, come out and enjoy.

Yelp
Oakland has gone to sh*t .. homeless making the city disgusting .. you no longer see neighborhoods clean have soooo many people renting out garages converted into apt etc.. cars parked on red stolen cars left for months to yrs. Potholes already fu*ked my car especially down my street theres so many potholes you dont see city works fixing the street and if they do it its a small area they "fix". This mayor sucks she can't even keep bay area teams let alone Oakland clean& moving out the homeless who bring rat problems. Just today (Nov 16th 2021. @10pm) city works doing something on the my street like wtf its fu*king 10oclock at night people are sleeping and work in the morning they had all day today to "fix" whatever it is they need to do. City works are still working on whatever it is on my block its almost midnight these f*ckers know ppl work in the morning but then again they don't give 2 f*cks.. they can't continue this shit in the morning when everyone is working like after 8am. I bet they wont be done "fixing" until late at night... whoever is their boss is an idiot to have them fix an issue at this time at night.

Yelp
This is the worst, A Lobby full of people with one Clerk on a Monday! Wonder why robots are taking over? I just came to get a abstract for a parking ticket that was already paid. This ticket thing is all a gimmick anyway! Fix some roads or do something constructive....

Yelp
It is very hard to meditate in public at Frank Ogawa Plaza. Walking in DTO on a Sunday often reveals Churches explaining why to be abusive in slurred words. The situation is very bad. Being half attacked by an African American person while walking almost every day in Downtown Oakland is bad for me for a lot of reasons, yet listing race simply demands listing what horrors the caucasians are up to. Using the police non-emergency number is often too grueling because of the vast amount of abusive behavior. What is half attacked? Half attacked is not a drunk staggering about. Half attacked is someone rushing into your security bubble to see how you react. In my experience that sounding strategy indicates an over 1:100 ratio of actual crime to scouting. Yet, you can't tell many people that because people will say being able to tell the difference between initiation of combat and normal walking is impossible. That cultural block of instincts is a crucial point in the global warming process.

Yelp
A classic beautiful building that once held the distinction of being the tallest building west of the Mississippi. They could give tours of this thing, it's pretty cool. While it's restricted from most, there'a an old jail at the top that is supposed to be pretty interesting! ;-) This building almost didn't survive Loma Prieta and to reinforce it's chances it was placed on a base isolation device that separates it from the ground, allowing it (hopefully) to ride out the next quake.

Yelp
I had a appointment to meet with the vice mayor they were very unprofessional rude and despite talking with the assistant who was fired for even scheduling a appointment they wouldn't let me pick another day very push and it not worth time to contact so unprofessional very unhappy with them
