The Best New Hotels in the U.K. for Your Next Visit

"Pretty much anything creative director Alex Eagle does gets our attention: the creative director was the brains behind concept space The Store at Soho Farmhouse. Now, she’s been called in to give Berkshire’s 118 room Oakley Court a do-over. The result is effortlessly eclectic: There are plush Eagle & Hodges couches, with oriental rugs set snugly beneath mid-century chairs. The beds are big and comfy, dressed in the kind of big, bold, stripy bed linen that evokes long, lazy summer days. Elsewhere, there’s a gym and pool area with infrared saunas, and a restaurant and terrace set along the river. In the summertime, you can play tennis at the on-site courts, or follow one of the nature trails that wind around the grounds."

Rating: 6/10 The grounds are beautiful and the food is good, but the overall experience could use more care. Furniture by the water was stained and unusable, and even the room furniture had visible marks. We initially booked self-guided boats but canceled after seeing how poorly maintained they were. The TV in the room is extremely outdated — the only way to stream is through your phone, and for some reason it kept turning on by itself in the middle of the night, waking us up with its light. It seriously needs replacing. Board games were mostly empty boxes covered in dust, despite being advertised as an amenity. Breakfast hours were inconsistent (one day until 11am, another day closed before 10am), which was confusing and disappointing. Towels were also insufficiently provided. The River House restaurant was the worst part: we waited over an hour for a burger, received no apology, and were still charged a £7.50 service fee. The staff would benefit from better training and attention to service. Overall, it’s an “okay” experience with lovely surroundings, but it lacks attention to detail — even at checkout, the reception felt a bit absent-minded.

We recently held a 3-day training event at Oakley Court, and I genuinely couldn’t be more impressed with the experience. From the moment we arrived to the final goodbye, everything ran seamlessly. The entire team made sure no request was too much — and their support played a huge role in the success of our event.||A huge thank you to Alaa and his team, who truly went above and beyond. Their flexibility, professionalism, and deep expertise shone through at every turn. Alaa not only helped us stay on top of the logistics but also suggested thoughtful improvements that enhanced the overall experience. His knowledge, calm manner, and proactive support made all the difference.||All 33 attendees stayed over at the hotel, and without exception, they were incredibly impressed — not only by the level of service but also by the fantastic food throughout and the comfort of the rooms. Everyone commented on how well they slept and how cared for they felt.||When it came to our team-building events, Alaa and the team pulled out all the stops. They created a warm, welcoming, and energising atmosphere that struck the perfect balance between professional and relaxed.||We had participants travel from across Europe and Hong Kong, and every single person was blown away by the venue and service. From IT support to room layout, every detail was handled with care and precision. Staff were always on hand, incredibly friendly, and quietly efficient in keeping everything running smoothly.||The variety of meeting and dining spaces also made planning easy and gave us great flexibility throughout. We truly felt supported and well looked after at every stage.||This was, hands down, some of the best service I’ve experienced anywhere. I’ll absolutely be recommending Oakley Court to colleagues and contacts — and I’m already looking forward to coming back for some personal time at the hotel soon.||Huge thanks again to everyone involved — your hard work, professionalism, and warmth didn’t go unnoticed.

Oakley Court is one of the most stunning grounds I’ve stayed on. I couldn’t believe how vast the space was with it over looking the Thames - it’s the perfect mix of regal and tranquil. The rooms are great, staff are delightful and the food was amazing! The whole place is breathtaking and you get to see more of it on the boat rides they do. 10/10 would recommend and will definitely be back.

I stayed here with my husband and dog for a weekend and enjoyed the beautiful grounds, rooms, and dining area with friendly wait staff especially in the main dining room. The bike ride along the Thames was a lovely way to see the area and visit the castle while avoiding the crowds. I did have some difficulty with communication, but in the end Oakley Court staff sorted it out.

The main building is stunning, and many of the annnex rooms have been remodeled. A spot that is especially appealing to those who enjoyed the Rocky Horror Picture sShow. It also has housed a large number of Hammer, Horror, films, such as Christopher Lee’s Dracula! Summer pop up being operated by SoHo House looks interesting, but we were unable to sample it, only open on weekends.|A truly beautiful setting on the River Thames! Great service, nothing stuffy! Only hiccup was air-conditioning in room. You might want to check its operation when you arrive to make sure you’re not going to have a warm evening! Thankfully, it is England and the temperature was lovely at night! The restaurant had an interesting menu. No set dining room, you choose which room in the mansion you would like to sit while dining or having cocktails. Very nice!

Incredible location for our stay and event. The staff worked tirelessly to accommodate all our needs. The grounds are gorgeous situated on the Thames and the nature views all around really made the venue stand out. Highly recommend.

Just spent a delightful weekend at Oakley Court. Wonderful setting, delicious food and attentive staff. We booked a cabana for lunch at River House which was a huge success and everyone went out of their way to look after us. Also booked self drive boats for a hour on the river which was lovely. Highly recommend this hotel and only an hour or so from London. Ideal.

From beginning to end, Oakley Court offers a beautiful, luxury, quintessentially British, riverside hotel experience. With the added bonus of access to Soho Riverhouse through a gate at the bottom of the garden, this summer stay was exceptional. All of the staff were approachable and friendly, my room was stunningly clean and well maintained, the bed was very comfortable, and I slept peacefully through the night. The room service breakfast was served piping hot and representative of the luxury experienced elsewhere on-site. ||Whilst I can imagine a stay here might be very different if the weather didn't allow you to enjoy the outdoor space, sitting by the river and enjoying drinks and good food in the shadow of the beautiful manor was well worth the price paid. There's also plenty of lounge and bar seating indoors should the heavens open, but I personally enjoyed the ambience of being by the river the most.||I'd happily stay here again and recommend it to anyone looking for something truly special in the Windsor area. You'd pay a lot more for a lot less elsewhere in London.

Yelp
Great hotel and restaurant. The staff go out of their way to provide great service. Beautiful 19th century manor and estate. Beautiful grounds decorated with great works of art including Jordan Webb sculptures in wood of animals.
