We checked in late for a 3 nights stay so when we came back from the shop, I was surprised to find no kitchen knife to prepare and cook our dinner. I called housekeeping but received no answer, so after I was able to reach reception at 9:30 pm and explained my needs for assistance, they said just give them some times. I explained again that I'm waiting for that kitchen knife to cook dinner as my toddlers have not yet eaten. They came quickly enough but brought me a tomato knife. I said, that's not what I needed. They went away then called me to say that they don't have a normal kitchen knife, not in any other rooms either.
I could not believe this to be true, because my husband has business travels on a regular basis, and we have stayed in other similar apartments such as Meriton Suites Mascot Central, and the Crown Towers in Perth to name a few, and they have every knife a normal home kitchen would have. This is such a disappointing experience and we're only at the beginning. The reception staff even tried to charge us extra for parking when our booking already have parking for one car included. I had to point it our to them when they told us the parking cost as we responded yes to needing a carpark. They even asked if we wanted two keys when both my husband and I were standing there together, and our booking indicated for 2 adults and 2 toddlers. Seeing service like that upon our arrival, so when my husband suggested we tell them about our room not clean and ask to be moved, while it's true, I decided against it, not wanting them to move us to a room on a much lower level out of spite. Regardless, the part where we can't have a normal size kitchen knife in our two bedrooms apartment is what bothers me the most. I would love to be able to check with a manager to understand why the Oaks Plaza Pier only have tomato knife and bread knife, and no kitchen knife, but I found no option to contact a manager on their website. I can't just walk down to reception to look for a manager because I have childcare drop-off followed by work in the office every day for the whole duration of our stay. I won't call and ask to speak with a manager for obvious reason; I don't trust these staff would give me the manager on request.
