"Uber cool Port Douglas The heat's been turned up in Port Douglas with the reasonably new QT resort. It's not beach side but with all the relaxing by the in-house lagoons, the juicy citrus tones and staff dressed in bright Hamptons style, who is going to leave the hotel anyway? Make use of the gorgeous vintage-style bicycles - and take them all around town - and use of the lap pool, gym and tennis courts to keep bikini trim. 170 rooms, plus a couple of exclusive villas, are decked in mainly whites, with bright colour pops in cushions and towels. The lobby is really appealing, a place to hang out rather than just sign in and move on. The hotel brings a cool new edge to this tropical town. It's a bit of a discerning young person's hotel, perfect for those looking to do the tropics in style, away from the madding crowds in the centre of town."

This was my first time staying in Port Douglas, and I honestly couldn’t have picked a better place than Oaks Resort. I had such a great time from start to finish. The resort has a really relaxed, tropical vibe that instantly made me feel like I was on holiday. One of the highlights for me was the swimming pool and jacuzzi, they were absolutely perfect. Whether it was a refreshing swim during the day or relaxing in the jacuzzi in the evening. Overall, my stay at Oaks Resort made my first visit to Port Douglas extra special. I’d definitely stay here again and would recommend it to anyone looking for a comfortable, relaxing place to enjoy this beautiful destination.

The first thing I want to mention is the breakfast. It wasn’t anything fancy, but I could truly feel the chef’s sincerity in every dish. That morning, the chef had a tattoo on his left arm and a hunched back, and he kept checking the food and cooking with real dedication. I’m genuinely grateful for the delicious breakfast. The reception staff were also very friendly and explained everything clearly—it was a really pleasant experience. The swimming pool was spotless and well-maintained, which added to the overall positive impression. One downside was the cleanliness of the room. The bed cover looked yellowed and old, with visible stains in several spots. The carpet was also quite dirty. Interestingly, the room I stayed in was connected to the neighboring room by a door. Although it was locked, I could hear everything from the next room. Also, the room didn’t seem to be soundproof, so I heard a lot of noise throughout my stay.

We had a fabulous 5 night stay at The Oaks. Rooms were great, clean and furnishings were modern. Beds were a little soft for my liking but none the less comfortable. The restaurants within the resort were great and had plenty to choose from. Location was convenient - only a 5 minute drive to the main street of Port Douglas. The included buffet breakfast each morning was a great addition. The pool is also fantastic. Great for kids as it is not too deep. Overall, a great vibe and would highly recommend for families.

Very accommodating, and able to help with a last-minute booking. The pool was lovely, and the late-night receptionist was extremely professional. I believe her name was Charlotte, and I would definitely recommend her for a promotion. I would also suggest spending a little more for one of the nicer rooms, I will certainly do so next time

Our stay at The Oaks Hotel Port Douglas was absolutely incredible from start to finish! The resort was beautiful, clean, and relaxing — the perfect tropical escape. Everything from the check-in to the poolside vibes was seamless and stress-free. The atmosphere was so warm and welcoming, and every single staff member greeted us with a smile. It truly felt like home away from home, just with palm trees and sunshine! 🌴☀️ Everyone was so friendly, welcoming, and helpful — truly the best experience we’ve had. The staff went above and beyond to make sure everything was perfect. A special thank you to the amazing team, especially Charlotte, Adam, the lovely Maltese girl, and the Spanish girl — you all made our trip unforgettable! 💙 Kind regards Zoe, Leah& George

Had a great 3 night stay at the resort. We had a well furnished 1 bedroom apartment and the swimming pool was top-notch. Only gripe is, we didn't have room service at all for 3 days (even though we hung up the sign for room service). Not a big issue for a 3-day stay though, the reception was open 24 hours for extra towels/amenities.

After reading a lot of negative reviews and such a cheap deal with Jetstar holidays we really weren’t expecting much but we were extremely happy with our stay. The hotel and surroundings were incredibly clean. Room was very modern. The pool and pool bar were great and the restaurant was lovely especially outside. The food at all times was up to a great standard. My only feedback would be to have more of a bar area that’s separate to the eating area with maybe Happy Hour or cocktail of the day etc we will be back for a lovely resort stay.

Extremely Disappointing Stay – Not Worth the Money We had a very bad experience from beginning to end at the Oaks 4* Resort Port Douglas. The problems started before we even arrived. We had booked a shuttle bus four months in advance, yet when we landed at the airport there was no shuttle waiting for us. After calling the resort, we were told it would arrive in an hour. We couldn’t wait that long, so we ordered an Uber — and despite not using the shuttle, we received no refund. When we arrived, things only got worse. The restaurant wasn’t open, and the only food option available was pizza, which had to be ordered through reception. We waited 45 minutes, only to find out the restaurant never received our order. We had to go back to reception and order again, and still received no apology. The service at reception was consistently unfriendly and unprofessional. We were then given room keys that didn’t work, which meant yet another trip back to reception. The room itself was far below the standard expected of a 4-star resort. Although they claimed housekeeping was daily, the beds were only changed once a week. Housekeeping only replaced towels — and one of them was dirty. The room had dirty doors, dust on the lamps, and even a cockroach in the bathroom. Noise levels were terrible. Our room had an interconnecting door, and we could clearly hear our neighbour — including a woman screaming and having loud conversations. From upstairs, we constantly heard heavy footsteps. Sleeping was nearly impossible. Because of all these issues, we decided to leave 4 days earlier, but the resort still refused to offer any refund despite the poor service and unacceptable conditions. To make matters worse, the resort does not have gym facilities, which is surprising for a place marketed as a 4-star resort. The only positive thing I can say is that the swimming pool was nice. The location is also very far from everything, which added even more inconvenience. Today is actually my birthday, and instead of enjoying a relaxing holiday, we decided to return to Brisbane where at least we can count on friendly service. This stay was extremely disappointing, and for the money we spent, we could have travelled overseas and received far better service. We will not be returning and would not recommend this resort to anyone.
