I went to Oakville Trafalgar Memorial Hospital on December 17th 2025 at around 3 AM because I was having chest pain and breathlessness. There was just one couple ahead of me at triage, and they kindly let me go ahead when they realized what I was experiencing. As soon as I described my symptoms and told the nurse my pain was 5/10 at the moment but had peaked at 8/10, she immediately gave me aspirin — and I truly believe that nurse helped save my life that day. Someone else might have given Tylenol, which wouldn’t have helped in this situation, but she clearly knew exactly what to do and reacted without hesitation.
Within about 10 minutes, the entire medical team was focused on my care. Blood work was done right away, I was seen by the cardiology team, and from that moment onward everything was handled smoothly, calmly, and extremely professionally. I ended up needing to stay almost 15 days, and during that entire time I felt safe, heard, and looked after.
I especially want to thank Dr. Michael Heffernan (cardiology) and Dr. Maaz Kamal (internal medicine). Not only are they incredibly skilled doctors, but their kindness and bedside manner are truly exceptional — honestly the best I have ever experienced. They visited me twice a day, even when there wasn’t anything new to update, simply to check how I was feeling and reassure me. That level of care makes a huge difference when you’re going through something serious. I always felt like I mattered — not just as a patient, but as a person.
Every single nurse who attended to me was patient, gentle, respectful, and attentive. I never once felt ignored or rushed. The hospital itself is also extremely clean — my room and bathroom were deep-cleaned every day, which made recovery much more comfortable.
Another thing I really appreciated is that they don’t restrict you from meeting visitors. Seeing familiar faces and having loved ones around truly helps you not feel lonely — the environment feels supportive rather than isolating. They even keep a sofa bed inside the room so the person accompanying you can sleep comfortably at night. That meant the person staying with me could rest properly while still keeping an eye on me, which was incredibly reassuring for both of us.
And even though the treatment is completely free, they also provide meals three times a day — breakfast around 8 AM, lunch at 12 PM, and dinner at 5 PM. As a vegan, I’ll be honest — the taste isn’t restaurant-level, but it’s a hospital, not a spicy street-food stall 😂 so I really can’t complain. It even took me a few days to realize I could actually choose my meal options because no one explained that part at the start — but once I figured it out, it was totally fine.
From start to finish, my treatment at Oakville Trafalgar Memorial Hospital was handled with compassion, expertise, and genuine care. I honestly felt like I received five-star treatment like i am some kind of a celebrity😂. I cannot thank the staff enough for everything they did for me during such a frightening time.
Based on my experience, I can confidently say this is one of the best hospitals in Canada. There are absolutely no complaints from my side about Canadian healthcare after what I experienced here. I am deeply grateful to every doctor, nurse, and staff member who helped me — you truly made a difficult time easier, and I will always remember the kindness and care I received here.
