23 Best Things to Do in Montreal

"There's a deep history of and passion for design and technology in Montreal, and this immersive exhibit held at the Palais des Congres is the largest of its kind in Canada. The show itself is a stunning display of natural landscapes, videos of artists performing and creating, poetry that floats across the screen, and psychedelic designs that transport the audience; the substance of the show itself appeals to adults and children alike. Because you need to book tickets in advance the exhibit never gets too crowded, so you'll be able to keep your distance from others and experience the magic without feeling cramped. Tech nerds will be totally in awe of the production quality, and the substance of the show itself appeals to adults and children alike. Expect to hear lots of "oohs" and "ahs." - Todd Plummer

OASIS Immersion — Museum Review | Condé Nast Traveler

"So, what’s this place about? There's a deep history of and passion for design and technology in Montreal , and this immersive exhibit held at the Palais des Congres is the largest of its kind in Canada. It's a partnership between Ecorecreo (a Montreal-based tourism company) and the municipal and provincial governments, and makes makes a compelling case for all visitors to pencil in some time at the convention center. It's open to the public with timed, ticketed admissions. How’s the space? OASIS uses 105 lasers and 119 surround-sound speakers to project immersive projections on the walls and floors, turning over 21,000 square feet of convention centre space into a technicolor dreamscape. The current show, RECHARGER/Unwind, is a celebration of various artists from Montreal and abroad, and is spread out over three distinct rooms. Because you need to book tickets in advance, the exhibit never gets too crowded, so you'll be able to keep your distance from others and experience the magic without feeling cramped. The art’s the main thing, of course. How is it? The show itself is a stunning display of natural landscapes, videos of artists performing and creating, poetry that floats across the screen, and psychedelic designs that transport the audience. Expect to hear lots of "oohs" and "ahs." Did you meet anyone on staff? Did they make an impression? There are limited staff at the transition points between rooms, and they are there to help guide visitors who might have a hard time seeing in the dark or need to exit for a bathroom break. At the end of the day, what—or who—is this place best for? Tech nerds will be totally in awe of the production quality, and the substance of the show itself appeals to adults and children alike. The convention center sits on the fringes of Old Montreal, so it's a great 90-minute (total) diversion before or after any excursions or dinner plans in that neighborhood." - Todd Plummer

I brought my high school art classes here to experience 'Nature Vive' since we were learning about installations and focusing on sustainability objectives. Not only were some students in tears from being immersed in the beauty of blooming flowers and flowing lava, but they enjoyed 'playing' in the colours and patterns and finding special elements such as the 'sparkles' that followed you. Kept 44 teenagers entertained and engaged for an hour and a half and have only heard excellent feedback from them. Very welcoming and accommodating staff - truly appreciated as a teacher. Thanks again, and you'll be seeing us in the not too distant future!

Nature Vive was an inspiring experience. I like the meaning behind it but the in-person experience could be improved. The introduction explanation before we entered the room was great. The staff was knowledgeable and fluent in both English and French. However, the seating was limited and no interaction throughout the whole experience.

Umm.. Kind of boring if you are not a rolling stone fan. The entire show is on music, they should had done for movies. Atleast as a tourist from india we can correlate. Rock and Roll and that to Rolling Stones which is like 1960s -1970s is too old for millenial generation or GenZ. Immersive experience of lights is amazing but if you cannot corelate with the story it becomes monotonous.

Beautiful! For those who don’t know, you can purchase a Passporte MTL (city pass) for $56 CAD which includes 3 activities, and this is one of the activities included for that price. For the price I think it was a good experience. 3 medium sized rooms with large projection screen walls and visuals. If you’ve been to other kind of shows (like Van Gogh) it’s similar, do not expect TeamLab though.

Oasis Immersion is a dream for anyone bored with reality. Each room is designed for you to sit, sink in, and watch projected art so gorgeous it feels like sound and color are having a conversation just for you. But here’s the rule: use your library voice. I’m talking to you — yes, you, the person talking like we were at a Metallica concert. Staff shouldn’t have to tell you to “Shhh” like you’re in kindergarten. This is a meditative experience, not open mic night. And don’t worry about the kids on field trips — they pass through fast. They’re just tiny tourists in training. This would have been an easy 5 stars, but I’m a diva for peace and quiet, and the occasional chatter pulled me out of my zen. Next time, I’m bringing earplugs and pretending I’m at an art spa.

First time went here and it was great experience for us. A Truly Magical Experience at OASIS Immersion! Visiting OASIS Immersion in Montreal was by far one of the best experiences I’ve ever had. From the moment I stepped inside, I was completely captivated by the stunning visuals, immersive soundscapes, and the powerful storytelling. Every room was thoughtfully designed to evoke emotion, spark curiosity, and transport you into another world. The interactive elements made the journey even more engaging, and I loved how each theme offered a unique perspective on creativity, innovation, and human connection. It wasn’t just visually impressive—it was deeply moving and inspiring.

Upon arriving, we had to wait about 20 minutes before reaching the front of the line. When we entered, we walked through a room with a few boxes and decorations meant to imitate a “backstage” area. We spent about five minutes there before moving on to the next room, which was essentially a “waiting room” for the main event. I personally saw no need for this, and it was one of the two reasons I disliked my visit. We waited what felt like 10 to 15 minutes before entering the next room. We decided to wait before entering since everyone was rushing in. Ultimately, that turned out to be a bad idea because seating was very limited. The room was essentially a large cinema where you watched the experience on a big screen. All the seats were taken, and many people were left standing for 40–50 minutes. I personally really liked the music & visual effects but I would have preferred to sit down. What: Oasis immersion AMPLIFIED Time: 4:00pm

The Vivre Nature is not to be missed. I originally thought there was just one immersive experience but in fact, all three areas are. I was thoroughly moved by the experience and left humbled, but uplifted. It is also a very family friendly activity where the next generation can not only learn through an immersive visual delight! Loved it so much.

Yelp
I've been to a few immersive art exhibits in the last few years as they've gained popularity, but I'm often been underwhelmed by them. When in Montreal a few weeks ago, I had some time to kill my dinner reservation and just happened up on OASIS Immersion (when exploring Montreal's Underground City, I ended up in Palais des Congres, where OASIS is housed). I decided it seemed like a fun way to spend an hour or so before heading to my dinner. I'm glad I stopped by - the show I caught was definitely the best immersive art exhibit I've seen so far. I think they may offer different experiences on different days, but the show I caught was Nature Vive/Root for Nature. The Root for Nature immersive experience brings together several organizations committed to conservation and sustainable development, including the United Nations, the David Suzuki Foundation, the Workshops for biodiversity , the Age of Union Environmental Alliance, the Palais des congrès de Montréal, Tourisme Montréal, WSP and National Geographic. The Experience is produced and traveled by OASIS Immersive Studios in collaboration with National Geographic. The experience had some truly gorgeous nature and landscape photography (I especially loved the first and third galleries), and I found it inspiring and entertaining and well worth the cost of admission. Definitely a great activity for a bad weather day or if you have some time to kill when other things have/are closed!

Yelp
Went to Vincent Van Gogh exhibit and it was nice. Get there early as the line is based on your appointment time, but they only allow maybe 10 people to go in every 15 minutes. I felt though personally that the chairs or seats were not necessary and it felt like it disrupted the atmosphere a bit. I think it would've been nicer to put maybe just cushions if necessary. They did have the exhibit in French and English which was nice. It was a bit small as there were only three rooms to go through before heading to the boutique. I think my expectations are a lot higher because I've been to a lot of similar ones in Korea

Yelp
This was a beautiful building to walk into with stain glass panels of different colors. Staff were also nice and directing us in the correct direction. Highly advise purchasing the Montreal passports online to include this event as well as 4 others costing $88 total as opposed to $30+ each. It's comprised of 3 rooms with the first two being smaller. There were 15 stories told amongst the rooms with different kind of seat options as well. Content including grief, Hawaii bombing, shipment containers, heritage, blindness, and more. It was a great time but could have benefitted from having more audience engagement. Would come again!

Yelp
OASIS immersion is a new permanent immersive indoor attraction located at the Palais des congrès de Montréal. Currently, you can enjoy the Inspirations exhibition, which includes three different galleries with a variety of projections on the walls and on the floors. At the end you also have a gift shop and a coffee lounge. I visited the exhibition with my 10-year-old, a friend and his 4-year-old son. The show lasted 75 minutes so at some point it was too long for the younger one. It is to be noted that you're not allowed to run or touch the walls for obvious reasons, but it might be something to consider if you're intending to go with active kids. It was fun and interesting, I'm curious to see how this space will evolve in the next few months.

Yelp
The whole show last for 1h15 min or 45 minutes depending on how fast you want to go. The third room is the longest, you might have to sit and watch the whole 6 shows. The projection of images and storytellings is top-notch as it is known in Montreal for their creativity and it did not disappoint. I love every moments of it and I went out of the place with a sense of renewal and aspiration. Cheers to Hygge!
