Oasis Of Mara Nature Trail Trailhead

Visiting the Oasis of Mara was a truly meaningful experience. Standing there, it’s easy to feel the history and understand how important this place has been for generations. The oasis has long been a vital water source, sustaining wildlife and the Native people who lived in the area, and it continues to be an important symbol of the region’s heritage and connection to the land. What makes it especially impactful is how thoughtfully preserved it is for the community and visitors. The easy, paved loop trail makes it accessible for almost everyone, which helps more people experience the history and beauty of the area. During our visit, the loop was closed for repairs, but even so, it was still worth stopping to see and learn about this important place. It’s peaceful, beautiful, and full of meaning. I highly recommend taking the time to visit and reflect on the history it holds—it’s one of those places that quietly leaves a lasting impression.

It was closed for the most part as of Feb 21 2026 but I still got good photos and the people in office was really nice.

Nice spot to stop and see an Oasis. It's an easy 5-minute walk and there's a public bathroom available. Definitely worth stopping in for a look. Some good information placards too.

This trail area is small but beautiful. It has a palm grove and myriad cactuses of different shapes and sizes in the trail. Very kid friendly and even wheelchair accessible. One can spend half an hour to an hour here.

Joshua Tree is fantastic and a place of unlimited exploration of natural desert beauty = thousands of acres! Trail types vary. Beautiful boulder & rock formations. Pets are not allowed in the park.

Update: currently closed due to recent flooding. The recent storms did a lot of damage. The trail is covered with sand/mud & there are a lot of dangerous washed out areas Nice loop walk. Got to see a lot of different lizards, bugs, birds (like quails, doves), & rabbits before 11am (specially during spring). Love that the restroom is so accessible.

I would say the labeled plants and rocks in front of the building here were more valuable than the trail itself. Section of the trail around the palm trees were closed but still the trees were visible. Nothing exceptional but yes easy paved path, wheelchair and stroller friendly walk.

Nice easy trail explaining the history of the oasis and surrounding countryside. Look out for wildlife. There are lizards, quail and plenty of other birds.
