Delicious! Loved our food. Best dinner on our trip so far. We got 2 of the pork meals and fresh guac. Clean restrooms! Loved the decor! Loved my mint lemonade!

Behold, a culinary gem uncovered in the vibrant heart of Barcelona - Oaxaca Mexican Restaurant! After a relentless quest for authentic Mexican flavors, my disappointment finally came to an end as I wandered into this gastronomic oasis nestled in the bustling El Born neighborhood. Let me take you on a journey of sensory bliss that transcends borders and delights the palate. Picture this: a sun-kissed afternoon spent in the enchanting outdoor dining area of Oaxaca, where verdant foliage and ancient stone arches adorned with twinkling lights create an ambiance reminiscent of a bygone era. As we settled in with tantalizing cocktails and a tantalizing spread of tableside-made fresh guacamole accompanied by an array of fiery sauces, we were transported to a realm of colonial opulence. The guacamole, crafted from luscious, imported avocados from South America, was a symphony of flavors that danced on homemade crispy tortilla chips and crunchy pork rinds. Each bite was a revelation, heightened by the zesty lime juice variant that set taste buds abuzz. Our passion fruit mojitos served as the perfect cooling companion to the fiery appetizers, refreshing and invigorating. The culinary odyssey continued with a ravishing display of red ceviche crowned with mango cream, a tower of fresh fish enveloped in a tantalizing sauce of tomatoes, spices, and onions. This culinary masterpiece was a testament to Oaxaca's dedication to flavor and presentation, a feast for both the eyes and the palate. Our dining adventure reached its zenith with the unveiling of Michoacán-style Iberian carnitas, a succulent pork delicacy that allowed us to create our own tacos. The interplay of textures and flavors, from the crispy half-tortillas we could wedge into the warm and fresh soft tortillas, to the velvety guacamole and fiery hot sauce, was a symphony of taste that left us satiated yet craving for more. To conclude our epicurean journey, we indulged in a trio of homemade Mexican ice creams - vanilla, mango, and pineapple - each adorned with a sweet and tangy fruit syrup that elevated the creamy confections to new heights. The artistry and care put into every scoop was evident, a testament to Oaxaca's commitment to culinary excellence. Throughout our feast, the impeccable service at Oaxaca shone brightly, with attentive staff guiding us through a world of flavors and ensuring a dining experience that was nothing short of extraordinary. As we compile our list of holiday dining destinations for visiting family, Oaxaca stands as a shining star, a beacon of culinary mastery that is sure to impress even the most discerning palates. We thoroughly enjoyed this gastronomic voyage and discovered the unparalleled magic of Oaxaca, where every bite celebrates Mexico's rich culinary heritage.

A nice experience of yummy food in a Mexican themed restaurant. Not the usual unrefined Mexican fast food place you can find all over the world. It’s classy, beautifully designed and warm, with cheerful music on the background. Definitely highly recommended: the red ceviche and the margarita! An absolute delicacy! The soft shell crab was all right, but lacked a bit of punch, in my opinion. Great service. Worth its while!

Wow this place did not disappoint. We had a foodie tour but got cancelled and we went here . Being from San Diego I have had lots of Tacos in my life . We had the Carnitas , Al Pastor and Chicken Tinga . These tacos were way beyond what I have ever had. I wish I could eat the Al Pastor tacos everyday .

What a dump. I've never had a waiter treat me so badly in my life. We paid 50 euros for a beer, teeth breaking tortillas, super plain guacamole, 2 teaspoons of 5 dipping sauces, some tuna tortilla with a terrible aftertaste and water. The tastiest item? The water. I'm doing you a huge favour by advising you to take your money and make your way to San Pedrito, Restaurante Y Licoreria 9m away where you'll have real delicious food for extremely reasonable prices👋🏼 You're welcome and thank you to the Oaxaca staff for being so rude because it led me to a real restaurant with real food at the end of the night 😉

We went in between lunch and dinner service. The drinks and tacos were delicious. As was the guacamole. It was a lovely experience.

Google
Liked the location and atmosphere. the food was just average, and the mezcal selection was quite disappointing. I was particularly looking forward to trying a reposado mezcal, but they were out. Very basic selection left. If you're a mezcal enthusiast, you might want to check elsewhere, probably they stock better during high season.

Had the best lunch here! The staff was so friendly and offered recommendations. The menu is in multiple languages. I had the tuna tostadas, the carnitas, and the chocolate mole cake for dessert. I also had a Paloma with my meal. Every single thing was amazing and I’d love to come back. I cannot say enough good things about this place.

Yelp
Great food, service and drinks tonight. The ambience was really great and the staff was very friendly. The pricing was a bit high, I would say a bit more in line with what I pay in the US. $12-15 drinks and $25-30 meals. Great restaurant with great taste though!!

Yelp
I'll say it directly: the food is absolutely delicious but I would never return. It is a fine dining restaurant that honestly with their prices for what you get minimized the experience and made it not enjoyable. The problem is not that it is expensive, rather that it is hard to justify the pricing when other restaurants of similar caliber deliver at a more reasonable price. Even more, if you are latino and accustomed to many of these dishes you will find yourself scammed and resonate with what I'm writing.

Yelp

Yelp
This was a good meal, plentiful and tasty with good service. We had the tasting menu and it was generous, with a couple memorable courses. Overall the restaurant is nice and the flavors were great.

Yelp
I hate giving them a 4 because the food was amazing. The fact that they were a Michelin Star restaurant in 2019 and 2020 we expected that the perfectly selected wine that my husband ordered before the food didn't make it to the table until after the food got to our table. When the waiter brought out the wine he ruined two bottles because he could not open the them. Although we felt bad for him, we were not happy as our food was getting cold. We ordered the octopus, delicious, fresh, and tasty. We ordered the guacamole that they make right in front of you and it was so delicious, that for me is a meal in itself. It was perfect! I ordered the carnitas with beans and freshly made tortillas, very good as well! The ambiance is great, the outdoor area needed some cleaning up, BTW make reservations. It gets very busy and we we lucky to get in.

Yelp
One of the best dining experiences I had in Barcelona! Went for the full course and almost everything was delicious but the absolute high points were the ice cream, Cochinita pibil, and the agua Chile. Nothing disappointed and was the best authentic Mexican meal we could have asked for. The service and drinks were great too!!!

Yelp
* My boyfriend and I started our evening with salsa and the molcajete de guacamole - great presentation and absolutely delicious. Along with the guacamole we ordered two margarita mango picante. Very tasty and very mezcal- we loved them:) * We then got served our starters which were the mixiote de quesillo(yummmyyy!!!) and the tacos de cerdo(so good). We also got the elote which was so filling and delicious. We recommend adding the lime to it! *More drinks came, like the cucurrucucu Paloma. They played the song when I order it - Brant back memories:,) * For the entree we got the pollo con mole negro and Cochinita pibil. Wow! So good! ***I want to personally thank the staff of this restaurant for making this experience one to remember. Thank you for everything and I appreciate you!***

Yelp
It was a fabulous meal with excellent flavors. The mango margarita was delish! The service was friendly and informative about the menu.

Yelp
Stopped by to try their Mezcal and I'm glad I did. Very friendly staff, helpful with menu and made the ordering very easy for a tourist. The Guacamole was outstanding, and the Mezcal is very good as well, slept very good that night.

Yelp
I visited this restaurant over the some days off with my family. For the adults we ordered the tasting menu and for the children some pulled pork. I also had a Margarita as a starter. The guacamole was freshly made at our table, the presentation of everything was beautiful and interesting. The flavors fit together in refreshing ways. The service was attentive but not overbearing. The chocolate dessert was simply amazing. This was an expensive meal, but it was well worth the experience!

Yelp
Food: solid. They gave me popcorn with what tasted like Cholula on it. Meh. I asked for tortilla chips and they were way too thick. The salsa was meh. I got a caesar salad to start, and it was a real one (with anchovies). Tasty. Then al pastor tacos that had pineapple in them. They were ok. Nothing special. Service: ok. Atmosphere: ok. So, three stars aka "A-OK"

Yelp
Sick of tapas in Spain? Please check this place out. Fantastic Mexican food prepared perfectly. Not over seasoned or unnecessary ingredients. Very fresh and presentation was excellent. Drinks were spot on as well. Highly recommend the guacamole prepared table side.

Yelp
The service our party of four received at Oaxaca was painfully slow, and there weren't even that many people there! We stopped in for a pre-dinner drink and sat down on the side with the bar. The restaurant and bar was pretty and we might have considered staying for dinner if the service hadn't been so terrible. The manager was overly chatty with another group and there was only one bartender. It took a really long time for us to receive menus and our round of drinks. Once we finally received them, we requested the check because we were ready to move on with our night. I definitely wouldn't go back with so many other bars and restaurants in the area.

Yelp
There is such thing as a mezcalería?! Yes yes yes. The decor is awesome. The bartenders are friendly and honest that they're also learning. They give you an orange and fresh worm salt with each mezcal. There is so much to look at in here, I really enjoyed chilling at the bar. I didn't try any food but the menu looked tasty!

Yelp
Stopped by on a hot day looking for a cold cerveza. Found it! Hand-prepared guacamole and chips to start (delicious) and cochinita pible (Yucatán slow roasted pork) taco and a negro mole chicken tamal were a great mid day snack! Best tamale outside of Guatemala that I've had. So tender with just the right amount of mole for taste and steamed banana leaf flavor.

Yelp
The food was average The service was slow It's over rated The guacamole was so tasteless The main dish was badly tasting with flavorless sauce

Yelp
Pricey food. But you get quality Mexican food. The tortillas are made there as well! All the food was fresh. The decor has a sexy vibe to it. The restaurant is Mexican with a modern feel Service is great.

Yelp
We came here in search of a very upscale restaurant and were disappointmented. Food wasn't amazing. There aren't many items that are at traditional mexican restaurants on the menu. The chips are incredibly hard as well. For the price I feel like it should've been much better. The waitress at the time seem a bit bothered as well. I got the vegetarian tacos and I didn't like them at all.

Yelp
Some good Mexican food with that Barcelona flair. Guacamole is outstanding accompanied by some unique house made chips. Tried many dishes in our part and enjoyed great flavors in each one.

Yelp
Food was tasty. We had guacamole, green ceviche, steak, and conchita pibil, margarita, a mezcal drink, and hibiscus iced tea. All delicious, although all spiced for Spanish pallets, (on the mild side.). The waiter made a point of warning us about a couple little slices of Serrano pepper that were really tame. It's OK, I appreciate the warning, but it was kinda funny. Service was efficient and attentive, but staff was cool, (in a negative way.) No terrible, just didn't get any sense of joy from anyone. A little joy goes a long way towards making a good meal great. Prices are high. Atmosphere is nice. Kewl tables made from big slabs of wood. Good food, but add more heat. I'd give 3.5 stars if I could.

Yelp
Absolutely the best food and atmosphere. Everything was fresh and delicious, service bar none. Will definitely be back again! Order the Iberian- breed cochinita pibil... doesn't do it justice to call it pulled pork, but that's what it is... to die for! A Catalonian twist on your Mexican!! Yum

Yelp
This restaurant was amazing! The food was absolutely delicious, we got the quesadillas, tacos, guacamole and it was the perfect amount of food for a quick bite in between museums and sight seeing. I'm literally craving the tacos again today! Their margaritas were fabulous too :) the interior, decor and overall aesthetic of the restaurant was so cool! Will definitely be recommending this place to all of my friends

Yelp
Wonderful authentic Mexican restaurant in Barcelonetta neighborhood. The salsa was not great, but the guacamole was outstanding. Pulled pork tacos were amazing, but vegetarians also can do very well.

Shane F.

Yelp
Just OK. Overpriced. We were persuaded by all the good reviews on Yelp but left disappointed. Chips overcooked. Guac was just OK. Tacos were average. Probably our most disappointing meal in Barcelona.
