The gondola ride up was really nice and scenic. We purchased Thrill Pass tickets online ($146 each). We experienced an issue with the tickets, but they made good on an offer to remedy the situation and I’m very appreciative of that. I don’t think buying tickets online helped avoid any lines nor save time, because once we arrived we had to wait in line at guest services to redeem our online ticket for a wristband. Consider waiting and purchasing tickets there if you go so that you can verify what is open and get a good sense of the place.
The alpine coaster was fun. The chair lift to the top observation deck was peaceful with a beautiful view, and it was a nice touch to have a banjo player playing live music on the deck. If they had served drinks at the top (hot cider, coffee, etc) that you could enjoy with the view, then that would have made the ride even better.
It is a little older of a destination, which is evidenced by the technology and systems they have in place, as well as little things related to the ambiance. And as a couple traveling together, there wasn’t a lot to keep us busy all day.
All in all, if I had small children, it may have been a better value because there is ice skating, bumper cars and swings. But Gatlinburg offers so many options for chair lift rides, alpine coasters and zip lining, that I didn’t find this to be good value for the price for adults.
