The Cliffs of Moher are an absolute must-see destination in Ireland. Despite facing challenging weather (I happened to visit during Amy storm), the overall experience was outstanding, and the dramatic atmosphere only added to the rugged beauty of the site. The Experience and Atmosphere The views are simply fantastic, especially if you are visiting from outside Ireland and experiencing this unique coastal geology for the first time. Prepare yourself, as the location is very windy! I experienced a classic Irish weather hour, where it rained four times in sixty minutes, with each downpour lasting less than five minutes. This volatile weather is part of the fun and emphasizes how wild this part of the Atlantic coast truly is. Dining and Value I was pleasantly surprised by the visitor center's offerings. The on-site restaurant is reasonably priced, which is a welcome relief at a major tourist attraction. A particular highlight was the food: the soup and chowder are fantastic and make for the perfect warm meal after battling the coastal wind. Practical Tips for Visitors For those planning a visit, take note of two key points: Parking: There is ample parking available, which makes access easy. Booking: Be sure to book your tickets online, as this offers a high discount and is the smartest way to save money on your visit. Overall, the Cliffs of Moher are a magnificent spectacle of nature, and I highly recommend embracing the wind and rain to experience this incredible sight.

• Built in 1835 by Cornelius O'Brien, a local landowner and descendant of the High King of Ireland, Brian Boru (reigned 1002–1014). • Purpose: A viewing platform for tourists, who were already visiting the cliffs. Cornelius was a progressive landlord—he developed tourism to help local residents escape poverty by employing them in construction work (including building a wall along the cliffs). • Legend: The tower was supposedly built to impress the ladies Cornelius was courting. Another theory is that it served as a teahouse or decorative "folly" for guests.

Adds a point of interest to the cliffs themselves, but the view from the top is terrible. The way it's designed really doesn't let you see the cliffs at all, you have to peer through tiny spaces in the wall and its almost impossible to take a decent picture. They also let about 30 people up at a time and they are all crowding around the 3 spaces that actually give a view of the cliffs. Honestly, standing at the bottom of the tower gives just as good of a view as going to the top, so if it's going to be a 30min wait I wouldn't bother. No additional ticket is required to get up the tower itself once you have paid for the cliffs of Moher entrance.

Costs money to go up and the line is usually crazy, but you can still go up thr front steps to get a much better view of the Cliffs for free.

The iconic 1835 lookout tower at the Cliffs of Moher, built by Cornelius O’Brien — a local landlord with a flair for eccentric “tourism projects” who believed bringing visitors here would “benefit the people and bring cash into the area.” Climb to the top for panoramic views of the Atlantic, the Aran Islands, and Connemara on a clear day. Worth knowing: outside of official opening hours, the gates are open — you can visit before 8am or after closing for free. It’s quieter then too, without the crowds, which makes the experience even more special. During the day there’s a entry fee that covers carpark, entry to tower and visitors centre, but the views (and the photos) are hard to beat.

O’Brien’s Tower is a must-visit landmark at the Cliffs of Moher. Built in 1835 by Cornelius O’Brien as a viewing point for tourists, the tower offers panoramic views of the Atlantic Ocean, the Aran Islands, and the Twelve Bens of Connemara on clear days. The tower is located near the main viewing platform and is accessible via a short walk from the visitor centre. The climb is relatively easy and rewards you with breathtaking vistas.

Loved that we were able to climb the tower and see the cliffs even more!

The tower was built on the cliffs in 1835 by local landlord and MP Cornelius O'Brien as an observation tower for the tourists who frequented the cliffs at the time: "strangers visiting the Magnificent Scenery of this neighbourhood". It is said to have initially served as a "teahouse", featuring a large round table with seats of ironwor

Yelp
This is an interesting tower to walk to. There isn't really that much to see. The nice thing about it is the view up top but it isn't so different from what you'd see from the walkway already. It is nice to get that full 360 walk around though up top. I didn't think it was really worth the line to go up to be honest but hey, if there isn't a line or the wait it short, it is worth taking a look!

Yelp
What's not to like? It's a great old tower and it costs 2 euro to go in. Great views from the top. Also, how many old towers can you climb around in? Not many. So when you visit the Cliffs of Moher, try the tower.

Yelp
Once you get to the top of the Cliffs of Moher, keep walking towards the tower. The tower was open 6 years ago for a tour for 2 euros, but it was not open this time. I'm not sure why or if it's permanently closed to the public, but the view of the tower along with the view of the water and the cliffs from the tower are spectacular.

Yelp
If you want the perfect wedding in Ireland, you must do it with advice from Perfect-Details.com and Kate Deegan. My wife and I just did, and it was unbelievable. We renewed our vows after 55 years of marriage in the O'Brien Tower at the Cliffs of Moher on September 15, 2021. Thanks to Kate, it was perfect and very memorable. She helped us with arrangements for everything. First, she recommended the perfect hotel for us, Dromoland Castle Hotel. It was like a fairytale. Next, she recommended a list of possible venues. O'Brien Tower was an ideal choice. Kate made all the arrangements with the Cliffs of Moher Visitor Experience for its use. The selection of the celebrant, Dara Molloy, Celtic Priest, was Kate's recommendation, and it proved to be impeccable. He conducted a Celtic Ceremony that we will retain in our hearts forever. Kate's selections for the multitude of services we needed were right on the mark and outstanding. They included a hairdresser, makeup artist, florist, harpist, wedding cake baker, photographer, videographer, and chauffeur. Besides being extremely creative and multi-talented, Kate is a beautiful person. She is calm and takes everything in stride. No problem is too complex for her to solve. You tell that she loves what she has been doing for twenty years. She's the best.
