Google
We visited Ocean Diner because we're were looking for a place with breakfast offerings. We came late in the morning, so we were able to easily find on street parking and were able to be seated right away. We opted to sit outside. There are a few tables on the sidewalk by the street available. It makes for a charming place to have coffee and breakfast. The service was good and fairly prompt. The coffee was good and served with cream and sugar. We enjoyed our food as well! They had many traditional and innovative menu choices! It was a pretty wide selection of great offerings! If I lived in the area, I would go back again because it was an overall enjoyable dining out experience!

Google
Solid diner spot with a huge selection of dishes. The prices are all affordable, and the portion sizes are huge. The French toast was so flavorful and the biscuits were massive. Highly recommend!

Maria B.

Google
Had the best Huevos Rancheros ever! The service was excellent. Love the decor in the diner and the Old Band music. Definitely a great experience!

Google
This diner may be small and often crowded, but it offers a really cozy atmosphere with excellent service. Despite the hustle and bustle, the staff remained attentive and friendly throughout. The portions were generous, and the menu had plenty of healthy options, like the high-protein breakfast with salmon and egg whites—perfect for a nutritious start to the day. The oatmeal crème brûlée was a pleasant surprise, rich and delicious. However, the real star of the meal was the strawberry cheesecake waffles—they were absolutely out of this world! On the downside, I wasn’t a huge fan of the biscuit and gravy skillet, but overall, the diner serves up a satisfying, well-rounded breakfast experience.

Google
I used to come to this place as a kid with my dad, so it is extremely nostalgic. This is your local diner with a bit of a Mexican twist. They have pretty much anything you could think of when it comes to a diner. Also look out for the cute old couple. That’s there pretty much every day at the end of the bar.

Google
Great breakfast place, coffee taste fresh and hot. Came here for the very first time to have breakfast with my family. Staff very friendly, food came quickly , good portion and the salsa pairs well with my food. Cozy but a little too cramped. There’s hardly a space between chairs when both are occupied but don’t let this stop you from having great food and great service .

Damir B.

Google
Ocean Diner is a cheerful breakfast spot tucked away from the touristy pier. Their menu is huge, but the cinnamon roll French toast is a standout. The servers are friendly and remember regulars, which makes it feel like a community staple. Portions are generous without being wasteful. It’s one of those comforting local places you just keep coming back to

Google
Solid, consistent, and above average. Ocean Diner is great whether you just want a filling breakfast amd good coffee or if you're watching macros. Delicious food, outstanding service. We've been going here since they opened.

Yelp
Just visited this place for a quick Breakfast. Some Street Parking out front or a small lot in the back. Their Service was very friendly and quick. I recommend their Housemade Biscuits.. they're very delicious!

Yelp
Was craving a good old-fashioned American breakfast and Ocean Diner came through. It's everything you want from a nostalgic diner: retro 50's decor, friendly staff, and a menu full of comfort classics. I went with Lulu's Skillet, which hit the spot -- eggs, bacon, veggies, melty cheese, all in one hot mess of happiness. The biscuits were just okay for me (a bit dry), but once I slathered on some butter and jam, we were back in business. It gets busy, but service stayed fast and welcoming. Parking is available in the back, though it's a little tight -- drive slow and maybe skip the SUV if you can. I'd definitely come back when I'm in the mood for a no-frills, feel-good breakfast.
google avatar

Yelp
I like retro diners and Ocean Diner fits the bill with that iconic 40s, 50s vibe In Hermosa Beach. There's even really cool old framed newspapers about WWII and pinup queens like Betty Grable. I enjoyed my breakfast with prompt, helpful service Recommended.

Yelp
This diner is a classic breakfast/brunch establishment. We sat outside on the sidewalk. The interior is small. The ambiance is not great but the food makes up for the lack of ambiance. We started by ordering a Morning Glory muffin which we cut up between the three of us. It was recommended by our server. He said that it is a favorite that always sells out. It was moist and very delicious. My sister and I ordered the breakfast sandwich. It had cheese, bacon and an egg on an English muffin and it came with breakfast potatoes. The egg and bacon were cooked to order perfectly. My partner had the Sweet Loraine omelette which also came with breakfast potatoes, and he thought his breakfast was good. The service was quick and our server brought our dogs a water bowl. I would definitely recommend it based on the service and food.

Yelp
Love this small cafe place! Great food and service the strawberry waffle is amazing and the staff is great too

Yelp
Delicious food - I had the big daddy burrito which was so much food! I had to take half home. The coffee is better than any diner coffee I have ever had. Kids loved the hot cocoa!

Alicia V.

Yelp
Delicious food, warm environment, and good service. Couldn't have asked for a better place to take my friend for his birthday breakfast. Also I forgot my hat inside and a man ran out to give it to me, thank u so much!
google avatar

Yelp
Great vibe, great food, great service. This place really takes you back in time. Parking isn't the easiest but that's ok. This place is totally worth a visit and such a hidden Southbay gem!
google avatar

Yelp
My first time at Ocean Diner. I was stopping by somewhere for brunch before a doctors appointment but I recommend going early or being ready to wait since this place gets poppin'! There is 1 hr street parking available on the street. The service was prompt and friendly. Our server noticed the huevos rancheros dish was getting very messy and brought over napkins without us asking! The vibes of the diner are very cute and local mom&pop vibes. I really enjoyed the dishes I ordered. The classic eggs and sausage combo was really good! I was very happy that the eggs and sausages didn't feel super oily, which is what I experience at most diners. I really enjoyed that it felt like comfort food home cooking. I saw that they have homemade granola and lemon ricotta pancakes! I'll definitely have to come back to try more items on their menu!
google avatar

Yelp
Food was served cold, but the taste was good. Service was on point. The menu boasted about the quality of the brewed coffee for decades. To me- it tasted burnt. The location was just east of PCH. The inside of the restaurant was like a dive diner.
google avatar

Randy R.

Yelp
Came here with some friends since I used to live on the Westside. To be quite honest nothing against the restaurant, but the food is your typical American breakfast restaurant. Food was good, but nothing I can't find in nearby cities like Redondo. Manhattan Beach, El Segundo or Playa Del Rey. It's a local place for local people that don't drive more than a 2 miles radius.
google avatar

John P.

Yelp
Good breakfast, good friendly service at a decent price. Nice place to stop in for a bite.
google avatar

Yelp
Our go-to breakfast spot in South bay. Everything is always great! I had the cinnamon roll pancakes, and I know granola might seem like an odd choice for pancakes BUT it is sooooo good, the crunch really puts it over the top!!!! As a southerner, The biscuits are not authentically southern but they are fluffy. We have had a plethora of the omelets and they are all top notch. The wait staff is fast and kind. Your coffee will never go empty. The ambiance is cute and kitschy. The table seems are a touch uncomfortable but more unbearable.

Yelp
I brought my fiancee's mom here on a Sunday at 1:30 pm and I thought it was the best time to be here. It wasn't crowded and no wait. I brought her here because I knew she would enjoy all the old memorabilia. It's a 1940's themed restaurant for those that don't know. Portions are huge and the coffee is really good and definitely caffeinated. This place never disappoints, the service is pretty much always good, and it's worth the price. I ordered Mama's Home. It came with two thin cut deliciously seasoned pork chops (I had them put the yummy gravy on the side), eggs, yummy home fries, and toast. My fiancee's mom got something from the healthy options section. She got the one called Rick's Breakfast. She liked it and thought it was good. We also got some of their homemade salsa that was mild and it was almost like Tito's Tacos salsa. It was good. Especially when I put some on my eggs.

Yelp
Bottom line: Greasy spoon perfection The wife and I left town for the weekend and wound up on Hermosa Beach for a few days. The Saturday mornin search for a local breakfast spot didn't take long as this spot was on the same block as our hotel. There was no wait time for 2, someone came by super quick to take our order and we had drinks right away. The food came out within minutes and it was all delicious. I had one of the waffle dishes and the wife had a skillet - all of which was delicious. The staff were friendly and attentive - look no further if you're lookin for a great local greasy spoon..... this is the spot you want!
google avatar

Andrew R.

Yelp
Staying a block away for a few days, we ate here twice with the dogs and enjoyed the food and baked goods. Only three outside tables, but we were seated within 15 minutes on the weekend and on a weekday, all tables were open. First day, I had the Diva Omelette; my wife had the Cabo Wabo Skillet, and both were very good. The homemade corn muffins (two each) were lovely. On our 2nd breakfast, I had the "Morning After" skillet, which is filled with chorizo, bacon, and sausage and I was stuffed. My wife had the Jose Special with Tomatillo, which was also delicious. Today, the muffins were banana. We had to take a slice of the 'famous' Brown Sugar Crumb Coffee Cake; very good! Not overly sweet, but moist and excellent. Service is good, the kitchen is fast, and this is a very good spot in Hermosa for breakfast. Closed on Wednesdays.

Yelp
Their breakfasts are amazing! Everything I've tried has been tasty, fresh, and generously sized. I can't wait to try them for lunch!

Yelp
A cute little family-owned business that is a local favorite. Customer service, ambiance, and food were very good. There are some homemade baked goods offered daily. I can see why the locals love this diner. I'll keep it on my list of places to visit whenever I'm in the area.

Yelp
I drove down from West LA specifically for this diner and I'm very happy that I did so. I would easily say it's in my top five favorite diners in LA, which is really saying something given that there are over 30-40 of them. Located down in Hermosa Beach, it's in a much sleepier part of town compared to Los Angeles proper so parking is a lot easier than I am used to. It's a true classic diner with booth and counter seating, great coffee, and speedy service. They have a very large menu with a ton of options, and a lot of homemade, fresh baked pastries. Our server was very polite and quick and did a great job with a drink refills. Pricing is also very fair, which is one of the best parts of any diner. I was having a rough week, so I really wanted a delicious comfort food meal. I started off with a cup of coffee, and it was great and strong. Next we shared a coffee cake, and it was truly fantastic. The brown sugar crumble on top was absolutely delicious and we finished every bite. For my entrée I chose a dish that I rarely order but enjoy anytime I do, which was the chicken fried steak. It was a very large portion, with large sides, and it even came with two huge buttermilk biscuits. The biscuits were the true southern style biscuits, and I absolutely love them. The steak was also great, and really hit the spot. The white gravy on top just made it fantastic. Overall a great breakfast, and a great diner. I would recommend to anyone and have already added it to my favorite diners in LA list, so I definitely plan to be back in the near future.

Yelp
Amazing and fast service!! Food is fantastic too. Always wanted to try this place and happy I did. Thank you!
google avatar

Yelp
Consistently good for breakfast when you don't feel like cooking. Nothing special about the menu or cooking though; it's just a nice to have neighborhood spot. Recommend walking not driving; parking is horrible if there's no street parking.
google avatar

Yelp
Food was 4 out of 5 and service was good. Staff very attentive Food can use a little bit more sabor.

Yelp
Ocean Diner was not my first pick for breakfast while staying next door at Quality Inn Hermosa Beach but the breakfast there was not up to par. Thankfully this place was less than a min walk. Arrived on a Monday around 8am, it wasn't so busy when we walked in but when we left it had quite the crowd. The coffee was strong, restroom clean and the diner had a bunch of cool décor. Ordered the Jimmys omelette - Chorizo, tomato, onion, cilantro, Ortega chilies, jack cheese. I don't usually order omelette's when I am out but it was very tasty! it's changed my perspective on them! Also, got the short stack typical but good! For two of us the bill came to about $35 with tip!
google avatar

Leigh M.

Yelp
This is my favorite breakfast/brunch spot in Southern California! They have such a huge selection of breakfast/lunch and healthy/not-so-healthy options. I had the breakfast burrito and couldn't eat it all because it was so full of ingredients. It was delicious but so filling. Street parking is very limited but there's a free public parking garage next door that is never full.
google avatar

Ally Y.

Yelp
FANTASTIC FOOD. Large portions and huge menu to pick from, I doubt you could go wrong with anything on the menu - we ordered so much and loved it. My one bit of feedback is that our "over easy" eggs on the skillet were more "over hard" and not runny (see pic) so that was disappointing but still tasty!!
google avatar

Chris N.

Yelp
Cute and charming and trying their best. Everything works well except for the food. Great service, TONS of servers and helpers and the meals came out almost immediately but the quality just wasn't there for us. Love the cute 80s / 40s vibe and everything but the peanut butter pie hand-painted on the window seemed like it was frozen from Sysco. The biscuits reminded me of box cake mix. Not flaky and layered like homemade. If the food was just the tiniest bit more homemade they'd get 4 stars, easy.
google avatar

Pink S.

Yelp
Their service was very rough. We liked the food, but somethings were just average such as potatoes came with our omelets.

Yelp
11/30/22 Met up with our cumadre (otherwise my best girlfriend) for brunch over at Ocean Diner. We've been here before & it's a local favorite for her & her husband. Service is attentive & the server recognizes her as a regular. She tells me the coffee is decent & I trust that it is. We were all embroiled in our conversations & so I didn't pay much attention to the menu & just quickly glanced at it to order in a jiffy. Frank's Special, I think, sounded pretty good so I got that. Hubby ordered something called the Morning After, of course it has chorizo. My cumadre ordered a healthy scramble (egg white only) w/ brown rice. Our food arrived promptly & my home potatoes were very well done, maybe a little over done. It's no matter, I was looking forward to the sourdough toast-buttered & toasted perfectly. Oh so good w/ jam :D My scramble tasted very good, the parmesan was a good addition. It's solid! We all enjoyed our meal. It's a wonderful diner serving up good eats. Would definitely return when we're in the area for breakfast or brunch.

Yelp
"I've been coming to Ocean Diner for years with my family. Although the prices are on the higher side, the food is nothing special--just basic eggs, ham, and bacon. I usually go because it's next to the auto shop I frequent, and the staff is friendly. However, my recent experience was disappointing. I ordered eggs, ham, and bacon, and the bill came to $35, which felt excessive. They even charged extra for the eggs, making the total close to $40 for a simple breakfast. If you're looking to spend $40 on eggs and ham, this is your place. When I mentioned the high price, I was told, 'That's the price of living on the beach,' which was ironic because the beach is actually a mile away. After living here for 9 years, I've found many other restaurants that offer better value."
google avatar

Theodore C.

Yelp
Food is delicious. Service is excellent. Ambiance is cute old school style. I will be returning soon. Price points are and plenty of parking in back and on the street. I had Huevos Rancheros and it was delicious. In addition the brown sugar coffee cake is amazing. Give them a shot!
google avatar

Christine R.

Yelp
Super friendly staff, amazing service and delicious food. Can't wait to go back and try more menu items.
google avatar

Shannon V.

Yelp
We stopped in for breakfast with our family one morning. It was so cute and what I think of when I think of a diner. We were seated right away and started exploring the expansive menu. They have something for everyone! We started with coffee which is nice and strong and they kept coming (always appreciated)! Most of our group got savory dishes but I went with the strawberry cheesecake waffle. Wowa were the portions huge! The cheesecake filling was nice and tart to help counteract the sweetness of some of the other components. I cant believe the massive waffle came with sides. I had to share with others. Such a cute little diner and we look forward to coming back!
google avatar

Yelp
Amazing! 10/10 recommend!! I was looking for a classic diner. I really wanted a turkey club and coleslaw. I found this place and the pictures of the coffee cake is what did it for me. The ambiance is super cute. Very reminiscent of the 40s. I sat on the counter and my order was taken immediately. Firstly the staff is super friendly and the food came super quick. Although not a classic turkey club, I loved loved loved this sandwich. 8/10 for me. And the mad and gravy! So so good. Definitely 9/10. The coleslaw wasn't my favorite. It was too sweet and had pineapple. I also grabbed a coffee cake to go. I was told to heat it up before eating but I couldn't wait. The cake was super moist and not super sweet. A perfect combo for a coffee. I will definitely be back!!
google avatar

Cindy N.

Yelp
I came here on a brunch date after my hangover from the night before, and it saved my day! It's a cute and casual diner in Hermosa that serves mostly breakfast items. I wanted something "greasy and hearty" so I was thrilled to see they offered the Country Skillet. The biscuits were served open faced smothered eggs, cheese, gravy with sausages. Their menu was extensive and it was hard to pick from their huge selection of breakfasts (the one my date ordered looked yummy too)! Mine came in a skillet which made the presentation all the better. I couldn't finish it so I did pack it to-go. There's outside seating and a small parking lot in the back. Sometimes it's hard to find a good ole diner where it's not too crazy expensive, so I'm glad to have known about this place to come back to in the future. Plus being in Hermosa, the weather is beautiful--the perfect combo!

Julia L.

Yelp
If you're looking for some good diner breakfast food, this is a great spot. I got eggs with sausage, home fries, their homemade cranberry muffins. Everything was delicious! Along with some coffee that our server always made sure was full. Good portion size for a cheap price. Service was great as well.

Steph G.

Yelp
I had the Sullivan's scramble and it was great. I am picky! The diner was cramped but had some character.
google avatar

Jocelyn C.

Yelp
Such a great little place! They get you in/out fast, and serve a good menu!! Love the breakfast there, and biscuits w gravy! The lunch looks killer, also. A small place, with counter service, bakery, and restaurant. Parking isn't great, but hey, it's Hermosa! At least they serve you here, and it's good! Nice service, and quick. Open morning/early afternoon only.
google avatar

Wayne W.

Yelp
Good food. Good menu. Brought a couple friends, we had the Greek omelette, the guacamole omelette, and a breakfast burrito. All great. Biscuits were great but my burrito friend ate half of them. Potatoes are the russet variety, not my thing, but they cooked them properly. Service was good and friendly. Enjoyed the vibe and the decor. We took a moment after lunch to peruse the 1940s era posters and newspapers on the walls. Interesting. We will be back again PS parking is a challenge.

William R.

Yelp
Beautiful traditional style diner with a kick-a$$ breakfast menu. The biscuits were huge and fresh, the gravy was real homemade, and delicious. Everything we had was above average. And definitely considering the place isn't very expensive. Staff is more than friendly. Dining room was clean. I'd gladly eat there again.

victoria d.

Yelp
Stopped here while visiting the area for breakfast and have nothing negative to say. The customer service was exceptional, the food was delish & the ambiance is very welcoming and total diner vibes. For being a sit down diner, they definitely have some of the best coffee I have ever consumed. Tomatillo sauce on my skillet was very good & the chicken was full of flavor. Definitely recommend this place!
google avatar

Nora H.

Yelp
really nice little tucked away spot in Hermosa for some good breakfast. I really enjoy their skillets, pancakes, and coffee. Their parking is pretty packed and so is the restaurant if you go on a weekend, but it is well worth the hassle. Servers are super welcoming and kind, but i do wish there was a bit more room between tables as its sometimes a bit hard to move your chair. They have a baked goods case as well that always looks enticing.
google avatar

Yelp
Cute little diner we came to after dropping of my mom at LAX. We came around 11 AM on a Saturday morning and we didn't have to wait which was nice. It's a cute little diner vibe with nice seating at the bar, but the stools can use some work because they're not comfy and wobble when you sit on them. The service was quick and the server was nice. I asked if they could make a waffle no longer on the menu and he was able to accommodate! He made me the pecan, banana, and caramel waffle. It used to have butterscotch but they no longer had it on the menu so he subbed it for caramel instead. So nice! The waffle was so good! Not too sweet and an added bonus with chocolate chips and whipped cream on top. The scramble was just ok. The onions and tomatoes were raw and tasted like they just added them in at the last second. I also never add extra salt but felt like both scrambles we ordered were lacking salt and flavor. My partner ordered the hot mess skillet and he said the gravy was lacking flavor and would be better if it was a sausage style gravy. 4/5 for the overall experience but really the food was a 2/5 for the scrambles and 3/5 for the waffle. Pro tip: extra parking in the back behind the restaurant via the alleyway.

Yelp
Had breakfast in Hermosa Beach and short walk from our friends townhouse. Really enjoyed this place. Everything was hot, fresh and delicious and fresh squeezed juice and good coffee. Food preparation was good. Can't go wrong here for breakfast just come early because it's small joint and fills ups fast.

John T.

Yelp
Excellent food, and Outstanding service. The grilled shrimp tacos were so fresh and succulent. Our server was the personification of perfect.

Yelp
I am so sorry. I thought I had already reviewed this place. I am chagrined to see that I have not. This place is consistently great. It doesn't hurt that everybody who works here is very nice too, including Rick the owner. I usually get one of their great omelettes, particularly the chili, cheese, omelette, or the California enchiladas, AND a piece of their great coffee cake! I cannot recommend the coffee cake enough. Actually, don't get it, so there is more for me. Last time, my friend, convinced me to have the peanut butter pie, which I must say, was really heavenly, surprisingly light, and delectable. Today I had the Iron Man, to which I added chorizo. It was very sweet and savory, and just excellent. I stopped myself to fall. This easily could have served to people, but I was being selfish. And hungry. I even got the honey and cornmeal muffins, and it barely budged my sugar. Excellent service, excellent food, excellent service. Excellent!
google avatar

Laura P.

Yelp
Great food, large portions. I noticed that there seem to be a lot of regulars that came in based on how they were greeted. However, I was also greeted very nicely. It was a very warm and cozy place you could sit inside or outside. It is not a big place, but there is a lot of warmth and the nicest of service. I would definitely recommend going there and I would go back. There's a lot of different items to choose from on the menu. It took me a little while to make up my mind because everything sounded so good. You will not be disappointed.

Yelp
SCORE!!!! 1,000% classic American Diner. LEGIT. ***** Five-PLUS stars***** This place is the REAL DEAL. Feels like a time-machine set me back to my youth, only BETTER! This place is on-fire with activity, buzzing with energy. There is a 'natural euphoric' emotional state in this place. A sure cure for depression! You won't even need to sample the delicious coffee. Just absorb the effervescence of the moment! The palpable feel of Ocean-vibe, chill-enthusiasm, easy-going attitude..... I expect the big Lebowski to casually slide in and declare that he 'abides', in this place. Wonderful. Wonderful. Wonderful. California.....you have gone and TOTALLY REDEEMED YOURSELF! Thank you, Ocean Diner for making my day spectacular. GREAT CROWD. Friendly, polite, NICE people. Great staff. Attentive, fast, engaged. Best breakfast potato's that I've ever had! Eggs: AMAZING Even the toast was: PERFECT. This place BUZZES. Action-packed. Yet NOBODY is stressed. A very happy crowd of customers and a distinctly happy, organized staff. Phenomenal. I am putting this place in my Will. I want my family to experience this awesome place in CELEBRATION of life!

Janeth G.

Yelp
Cute tiny place on a busy corner. Parking is not always easy to find, they have a small lot behind the restaurant but it's always packed. I guess those are the "perks" of being close to a beach and busy intersection. Had the strawberry cheesecake waffle , it's huge but one word, Delicious. Unfortunately, out of all the thing I've tried here, the waffle is the only thing that keeps me coming back.
google avatar

Amanda W.

Yelp
I wanted to like this place so much. The decor is cute, 50s style diner with a seated bar area. The servers were kind and the food looked delicious when it came out. That was the beginning of the experience going wrong. I ordered a chicken club with french fries. The fries were cold and bland, even coming straight out of the kitchen. I found a hair embedded in the melted cheese of my sandwich. They gave me half off my meal and a free slice of cake, but needless to say I wasn't very hungry anymore. On top of that, I got food poisoning that night to the point I had to leave work early. No Ocean Diner for me anymore.
