This is at the Southern end of the beach and at a very good price so don't expect too many home comforts. The room we had was accessed through the restaurant which a was a little strange, but it was comfortable and clean. The room was not made up during our three night stay which meant that we had to ask at reception for extra coffee. It was also a bit unusual to have the wash hand basin outside of the bathroom. However, it is on Ocean Drive and an easy walk to "muscle beach" and the Art Deco museum so for the price I would definitely stay again if in the area.

We needed a place for one night between end of a cruise and our flight. Picked this place based on location. Booked it through AirBNb although it wasn’t disclosed that this is the property we were booking. Room was average but adequate for our needs. Small refrigerator, microwave and coffee maker in our room. We were in a corner room on the back. It much of a view but plenty of windows. Close to the beach which was nice. Front desk folks were very nice. Biggest complaint is the WiFi - it was terrible. Even emailing was slow. Forget downloading a movie or attempting to stream music. Overall ok for one night - wouldn’t recommend for an extended stay.

We spent 5 wonderful nights at this hotel—2 adults and 2 small dogs. A huge thank you for the no additional pet fee—we really appreciated that! Yes, the room was on the smaller side, but it had everything we needed: a fridge, Keurig coffeemaker, and microwave. They also provided beach towels upon request, which was a great bonus. The shower had hot water, the towels were clean and new, and the bed was super comfortable! I highly recommend having breakfast downstairs at the restaurant—it was delicious. One tip: don’t park next to the hotel—it’s $40 per night, which is too much. Instead, use the parking garage on 7th Street (thanks to the hotel for sending that helpful info in their message!).

The hotel was disgusting. Manager Mo came out to my car harassing me and I felt unsafe at arrival. I tried to check in and was refused serves. The hotel took my money and refused to provide me with a full refund. Mo utilized defamation of my character and Booking.com as he was rude and made me feel uncomfortable while trying to check in.

This hotel should not be rated a 3 star hotel. At the very least I expect cleanliness, I appreciate that the amenities are basic, in line with the price and the star rating but this was not what I had expected at all. We had to move after our first night.

+ coffee machine , location, microwave - when we got in to the room, I noticed water dripping from upstairs into the bathroom. I ask the hotel clerk for help. Someone came to look and said that the problem could not be fixed right away. The only solution was to get a full refund find another hotel. - water dripped from the bathroom onto us for 3 nights. We had to constantly put towels.

I had an excellent experience at this hotel! The service was outstanding, and the location couldn’t have been more convenient—close to everything we needed. A special shoutout to Josue at the reception for his warm welcome and professionalism. He went above and beyond to ensure our check-in process was smooth and enjoyable. I also want to give credit to Andy for his incredible help during our stay. His friendly attitude and quick assistance made a big difference and truly enhanced our experience. Overall, I highly recommend this hotel for its exceptional service and prime location. Thank you, Josue and Andy, for making our stay so memorable! Let me know if there’s anything else you’d like to adjust!

We rented two rooms for seven people first of all there was no elevators to go upstairs. We had to go up three floors with all our luggage with no help. The rooms were awful. The beds were all scratched. We couldn’t even close the doors of our bathroom, there was an awful smell in the building. A very dirty place. We talked about our problem with that desk and they just told us we can’t do nothing about it not recommended.

Yelp
Ocean Five Hotel Miami Beach on Ocean Drive in Miami Beach is a cool place to stay in the middle of everything for a good value. I like the location and everything that they have available here. The staff here is very friendly and willing to help you have the best stay. Good experience here.

Yelp
The mildew smell was unbearable in this place. The front desk was friendly. It's really price wise very affordable but you get what you paid for.

Yelp
While location is ok-ish, we were VERY disappointed by our stay. Upon arrival I asked the person at the front desk if our room was noisy. "well, it is indeed" was his answer. He directed us to another building (!!!), ie. we were not able to stay in the main hotel. The other building reminded me my $10 stay in East Asia when backpacking as a student. ZERO charm, you could here all conversations (and other noises...) from other room. NOT what you except at $288 per night. AVOID this place.

Yelp
Ocean Five is not a very trendy or high luxury place. If you are looking for something really comfortable - that´s the wrong Hotel. If you want to visit Miami Beach for at least one or two days and would like to taste the perfume of Ocean Drive directly but not be part of the "crazy" mile - this is your place Ocean Five is was not over expensive, except the prices for the parking lot per night are crazy. The rooms are ok for 2 people for one night - but even two nights with 2 adults and 2 kids are doable. The bathroom is really small. And I mean really small. The good news is: you step out of the hotel and you are two steps away from the hipster scene on Ocean Drive. If you like, you can dine in the italian restaurant near the Main Entrance of the Hotel. The quality is ok, if not good. We tried the "low end" food and it was tasty. Really italian. When booking a room here, it comes with continental Breakfast. This means stay in line for Toast, Jelly, Muffins, Cornflakes, Orange Juice and Coffee..... served on paper dishes and coming with plastic knives..... not good style but ok for me for short time. Ocean Five is ArtDeco and therefore old, but well operated, clean and that´s all what counts. The Service was friendly and helpful. So really no complaints from our side. Would I enter the Hotel again for one or two nights. Definitely yes.

Yelp
Our stay was great! There was a slight mix up as to which room was ready when I checked in and, without hesitation, I was upgraded to a one bedroom suite with full kitchen and living room (see the panorama I uploaded in the photos section)! The only two staff members I ever interacted with were extremely pleasant and hospitable. I could tell they wanted to exceed my expectations. The room was clean from the bathroom to the bed sheets. The decor was simple and rustic. I read other reviews and could not believe others mentioned having to "walk through a restaurant to get to the room!" It is a great authentic Italian restaurant set up in a lobby-like area... what's the big deal? Others mentioned the sink in the room rather than the bathroom... Ever been to Europe?! I'm surprised how quickly people will give a low rating for petty things that are many times outside the hotel's control (ie. loud construction next door, bad weather, etc.) Ocean Five is a very nice, quaint hotel in a perfect spot on Ocean Drive with a friendly staff and well kept rooms. My wife and I are looking forward to our next stay with them!

Yelp
It's really all about the Location of this place. Right across from the beach. Rooms need to be updated. I got this room off Hotwire for $100 a night. Room was clean bathroom is nasty looking. If your looking for something nice don't stay here.

Yelp
The room is dirty and ugly, we got promised we would get view to the beach but got view to a yellow building, the room smelled like they smoked something, would not recommend this to anyone

Yelp
I stayed here in March 2005. Originally, it would've been a 3 star review. The original purpose of my trip to Miami was for a conference/course, so I stayed in the hotel set up for that. Once that was over, I wanted something else located more centrally & near more fun stuff that you can walk to (restaurants, bars, beach, shopping) in Miami Beach (more specifically, South Beach), so I moved here. Yup, great location. The place was OK, except there was construction going on right outside of our window. I forget if it was on the hotel itself or next door. Anyway, it was OK, until after I checked out. I had used hotels.com to book the room, so basically, it was pre-paid. But then, the hotel decided to charge me more. Why???? So, I was irate, called up to ask why I was erroneously charged. I was told that it was for room damages. WTF?!?! All I took from the room were toiletries when I left. You want to charge me several hundred dollars for fuckin' toiletries? I had a friend with me most of the time, but she left before I did, and really, we didn't spend much time in the room other than sleep. And anyone who knows me knows that I don't exactly party like a rock star & trash rooms. Anyway, I contested the erroneous charge, & luckily, it got taken off my bill.

Yelp
Finding Oceans Five on Trip advisor, the reviews seemed good. I decided to call directly because I had a main criteria, A QUIET ROOM to sleep. I spoke directly to the Front Desk Manager, Andy. My main criteria was a quiet room for I am a light sleeper. I did not care about any views, my main concern was a room away from loud morning noises to include, garbage trucks, housekeeping rooms, etc. I reiterated this several times. I can only book the room if there is a quiet room and I can get sleep. Andy assures me he has the perfect room 332. Upon arrival, we waited 25 minutes to check in at 4:00. Did not bother us for after all, it was check in time with 1 person behind the desk. Good news is the room was nice, good décor, location and clean. Although it faced 5th and Collins, we couldn't hear too much for there wasn't much traffic. We were excited and continued on our very personal Valentine's Day celebration by seeing a concert at the Arscht Center. This was the one night it was 37 degrees in Miami. Being the room was mostly tile and corner unit, it was somewhat chilly. We turned on the heat but is did not work for it only blew cold air. We layered our clothing but were uncomfortable. I call the front desk about the heat blowing cold. Someone answers the phone replied, "what do you want me to do? Call the manager, Andy at 9:00am"! QUIET ROOM Request At 4:00 am is when all went south. Food elivery trucks were lining up on 5th Street. At 4:30am, the street cleaners were out with alarms going off. At 5:00 am Pepsi did their delivery on 5th and Collins. Housekeeping arrives, slamming doors, talking loud, I open the front door and the housekeeping closet is outside our door. I went down to the front desk at 9:00 am. Andy was not there. I explained to the front desk clerk Jens our request for a QUIET ROOM. Jens explains it was a special request put in by Andy for room 332, We were ready to depart but waited till noon to talk to Front Desk Manager, Andy. I requested a quiet room to get sleep. What could be quiet with a corner room directly facing Collins and 5th? Instead of a Northwest room, perhaps a South West room would have been better? I also have photos with the trucks outside the window at 4:59 am. . Jens was very compassionate and tried to call Andy several times. I sent the above in a letter form to Andy via email. I send again. Being in the travel business for 25 years, I must say it was the first time I did not get any response. Chalk it up as Poor Customer Service.

Yelp
On our way back to CA from St Lucia, we had to switch flight from MIA. Instead of getting in to LAX at 1:00 AM, why not stay the night in South Beach, get a good night sleep? Then we can fly back to CA refreshed... One good thing - Ocean Five is on a perfect location!!! You can pretty much walk to bars, restaurants, shopping, and beach... We arrived pretty late, and the girl at the front was "friendly". In order to get to the room, we had drag our own bags, go out & walk through the restaurant, and climb up few steps. Okay... whatever.... The room was clean but so basic and very small. Their bed - one of the most uncomfortable bed I've ever slept in. It was LUMPY, and creaked with any little movement... Then I guess people above us came home after "partying" at 3:30 AM. I'm telling you.... It was AWFUL!!! They were walking around with their shoes/heels on a tile floor, making all kinds of noise... My boyfriend called the front desk twice... He totally lost his cool, but who can blame him... It was 3:30 AM and some inconsiderate jerks were preventing us from getting a good night sleep. They noise went on about for 30 min... Then the morning came.... The blinds didn't fit the windows properly so let in loads of light... Needless to say our plan for some "good night sleep" did not happen. We were so tired, cranky, and very disappointed... Just glad it was only for one night.... If you are going to stay at this hotel, be sure to ask for the very top floor...

Yelp
Ocean Five Hotel is a small boutique hotel directly on Ocean Drive across the street from the ocean. It truly was in a fantastic location. The hotel itself is "ok." To be honest, I am an avid airbnb user and for my trips staying in apartments/homes is much better for me. I was desperate & had to make a last minute trip to Miami and came across this hotel. Its a very small room and could use a 2017 face lift. The room has a funny moldy odor but after a few days it went away/or we got used to it. Space was tight with two beds and there were no drawers to put clothes in so we were living out of our suitcase that we had to pull out of the closet every time we had to get dressed. I have to say the people at the front desk were friendly and helpful and the maid service came faithfully everyday and did a great job with replenishing towels and tidying. The lobby was modern but that is basically the extent of it at the hotel. The walls are extremely thin and we heard everyone's conversation on my floor and the room next door. Also, being on south beach its extremely loud between tourists outside and trucks going by. Theres parking available in the parking lot for a fee which is a nice feature although we didn't use it. Also, "breakfast" was a let down. The hotel offers free breakfast at the restaurant directly next door. We went one morning and we arrived breakfast consisted of a tasteless bowl of watermelon, a punch bowl filled with fruit loops, and bread that can be toasted. It was very underwhelming. The hotel did the job - the location truly was the best part. Being across the street from the beach is handy and theres 10000s of restaurants all down the street. Theres a walgreens uber close as well. It definitely needs improvements & a new more modern look.

Yelp
All white everything. I loved our room very clean, modern and the beds were so comfortable. The location is perfect, I will for sure stay at Ocean Five on my next trip to South Beach.

Yelp
The location of this hotel is what makes it worth the money. It is one block away from the beach. The street that it is located on seems to be the most happening street in South Beach. The room was okay! Cannot find anything that I could complain about. Staff is friendly as well. The parking lot next to the hotel is available for guests at $25 per day- multiple entry and exit

Stephanie B.

Yelp
Hotel is nice, staff is friendly, and a great location. However, the 2 restaurants located her are ridiculously expensive. Get ready to spend $100 for 2 people for a decent meal. Very disappointed!

Yelp
It is not look like picture, the room is quite small, you can lay in the bed while you open the door,if two people, one of you must lie on bed. There is a strange smell in the room and restroom, ugly and nauseating

Yelp
Stay here during 4th of july weekend for group of 4. Was greeted immediately by front desk staff. Got there about 2pm room wasn't ready so i dropped off my luggage and scoped out the place. First when you walk in the lobby is very small but comfortable enough to seat about 10 people. AC was very weak, considering it was the month of july hot and humid so you would think they would blast the ac a bit more like the other hotels ive stayed on the strip. There is no pool but then again the beach is only a block away. We finally got our room #110 it was on the lowest floor down the hall by the lobby. When i opened the door, there was a strong moldy mildew smell that smacked me right in the face. It was pretty unbearable. I had kids with me so i didnt want to risk sleeping in here with possible of mold. Ask front desk if we could change our room and he was very accomadating. I didnt mind we had to wait a few hrs before another room was available because i was for sure not gona settle for that smelly room. Time passed and our room was ready. We were directed to a building connected through a restaurant next door and up a level of stairs rm #122 i was super excited to say it was really nice. They upgraded us to a 2 bedroom two bath or should i say 2 connecting rooms that was bright and clean with a fresh scent of vanilla. Beds were comfty and the bathroom had tons of space. AC was blasting cold. It was superb. Overall minus the smelly room it was decent but definitely not worth $600+ for 2 nights ive stayed at the breakwater, cleavlander and sense for just a little more but my expectations were blown away. This place was just ok for me. Great location but im not impressed.

Yelp
This is a great hotel for the price. It's obvious that it is a little old. Some of the walls are getting to be kind of gross, the Windows don't always close l, and there isn't an elevator, but the rooms and lobby are still very modern. Showers and bathrooms are clean. No room service or free parking, it was $30 one night and $25 the next. I would definitely stay here again though.

Yelp
The location is on the south, quiet part of SoBe. The rooms are nice, and the beds are really comforatable. I initially had an issue with the WiFi, but they staff were very concerned and fixed the problem as quickly as they could. This place isn't a luxury stay, or anything that special, but on SoBe for the price, it is clean, quiet, not far from most places, and there's a DecoBike rental hub right across the street. The beach is right across the street, with free towels from the front desk. I was in town for a conference, and was able to fully rest in the hotel. I would stay here again.

Yelp
This is my home away from home. Andy at the front desk always welcomes me warmly and helps out with anything we need. On my last stay we got a room in their new tower. It was amazing, huge rooms, full kitchens, full length mirrors, brand new everything, and comfortable beds. It is truly the best value and best location on south beach.

Yelp
I was in Miami staying at a terrible hotel when I simply couldn't take it anymore. It was a very busy weekend and a Saturday morning so I figured I was stuck. I called the ocean five on a whim and asked about a room. Not only did they have one but the price was so reasonable I thought it was way too good to be true. When I arrived at this gorgeous hotel I couldn't believe my luck. The room was ready immediately upon arrival, the GM, Andy was one of the most generous and accommodating people in Miami. He took care of us better than I would have ever even asked. The rooms are clean, spacious, gorgeous and like a little piece of heaven. The hotel is right on the main bustling south beach strip right near every club, restaurant, bar, and the beach! The location is ideal! The hotel is also connected to a restaurant and the complimentary breakfast in the morning is DELICIOUS! I love everything about this hotel and can't believe I found it on iMaps. This hotel changed my entire vacation experience for the better!!

Yelp
Great experience. Really friendly staff members. Andy was great! Rooms were modern and clean. The beds were very comfortable. The shower was very nice. The location was perfect. Had a great time!

Emiliya V.

Yelp
Extremely rude front desk receptionist. He asked for our personal information during he was on FaceTime call with someone. His name he said is David (or Andy- that was the name on the form they made us to sign), same thing about the manager- totally unprofessional and over the top rude. We will never book a room here.
google avatar

Yelp
served its purpose for why we went. stayed during ultra music festival, so we were barely in the room. in a great location just steps from the beach, the strip and collins, and the most massive walgreens you will ever lay your eyes on. otherwise, rooms are TINY, bathrooms were barely cleaned, hotel is LOUD even when its not 3:30am and if you're not out of bed by 9:30am housekeeping call, your room does not get cleaned. we had to beg for beach towels in order to shower since they didnt clean our room for 3 days. they will hold your luggage for you rather than be charged a late check-out fee, but overall, we would not come back.

Thomas W.

Yelp
listed as a 3 star but what i experienced i would give it two stars. the room is smaller then expected. the rooms say they have flat screen tv's and there was a 19" with the picture going. the sink is located in the bedroom as opposed to the bathroom. the 2nd night we where there the ice machine broke both in the hotel & the restaurant. we asked about ice and was informed svc call was made. we had no ice for the rest of our stay. we put a do not disturb on our door while we out and the staff entered our room anyway. the handle came loose on the tolet and we fix it ourselves. it did have a complimentary continental breakfast. sleep in and skip this one. it had only white bread, watered down coffee, tang in place of oj, room temp. skim milk for the corn flakes. i guess you get what you pay for. being listed as 3 star i was hoping for average. i received below average.
