Ocean Roll is the perfect roadside seafood stop. They serve out of their food truck on-site. There is a small parking lot that can get busy in the peak season. There is a full bathroom for use. Also, seating is outdoors but covered by a tent (as of June 2025). Can’t go wrong with one of their baskets or a classic lobster roll done right.

Google
Best in town!! 🦞 don’t be fooled by other tourist traps, this is the real deal, awesome local owners with the best hot butter lobster roll in the area. Picnic seating makes it even better! Homemade coleslaw as well. Highlight of the trip

Google
I’ve never been more disappointed in a $30 purchase… we have been coming here for years, and this year the food is just not the same. A month ago, I had a similar experience, but wrote it off as a bad day or that maybe they were close to closing as we had went late. Today I ordered fried whole belly clams and am disgusted with my order. These are so slimy and the breading is mooshy, I don’t even know if these are cooked. For a $30 take out meal, with seafood fresh from the area I expected a bit better. I always recommended the Ocean roll to visitors and family but sadly that will not be the case this year.

It was a Thursday not busy but very nice. The weather was good, I got a lobster roll with butter and coleslaw. It was very nice.

Google
A roadside stand that's well designed with converted eating areas and a potty. The three women that run out were delightfully pleasant. The food was excellent.

Google
Great lobster roll! Next time I'll go for the shrimp. It's a quick and easy place with picnic tables under a tent so you can sit in the shade while eating fresh local seafood. Try it. You'll like it!

Google
I've driven by several times after hours. Today i stopp by at 1.30pm Not too busy and quick service I got the clam strip roll and side of fries. There were lobster rolls, haddock roll, shrimp roll, whole belly clam rolls. Everything sounds pretty good and I'll definitely try and come back. Clam roll was huge and side fries also. Could probably feed 2 people with this order. I took leftovers in my cooler for supper tonight Great job ladies!!! Thanks again

Google
Great stop. Had the lobster roll and fish. Good slaw.

Yelp
No longer the bargain I reviewed. One lobster roll, one crab roll, French fries (from freezer to fryer - tasteless), and two soft drinks for $60 pre-tip?

Agnes H.

Yelp
Typically order the swordfish sandwich or lobster roll or fried scallops. Swordfish sandwich hands down my favorite over the years. I ordered fried scallop box a couple days into 2025 season, and was very disappointed. Scallops were overcooked and not juicy, breading just flaked off, didn't hold together. Same experience as last year, so sadly, I will no longer be ordering fried scallops.

Charlie D.

Yelp
First time this year at Ocean Roll. Must say, very disappointed. A clam cake dinner , and half clams and scallops, $61.00!!! We brought our own drinks. I think that the quantity and quality is not as good as previous years. I hate to say this, n but I don't think that we will be returning. Sorry.

Yelp
Crazy Good - should RUN not walk to try this place that's been around since the 60s. Have not had the 1/2 Bacon and 1/3 Burger but am informed it is the GOAT.

Yelp
Very yummy! I was looking to enjoy a lobster roll for a reasonable price and this was the best spot! I got the hot butter lobster roll and my hubby got the hot dog with homemade relish! We were very pleased!

Ed W.

Yelp
Just moved up to Maine. Visited the ocean roll for the first time today. Food was excellent and nice to be able to get a real hot lobster roll. Chowder was great. Looking forward to trying other options there.

Yelp
We stumbled in this truck in the way home from Kennebunk and we were ravenous, but had dinner plans in two hours. We split a hamburger and fries. It was $15, which I thought was steep. The girl taking our order was sick, you could hear that her sinuses were all clogged up, and it made me second-ideas if we should be eating there. The food took about 20 mins, and when it came out it was good. Nothing to write home about - just a pricey burger and fries (crinkle fries!). Nothing bad, but nothing truly noteworthy.

Yelp
Bottom Line: Super friendly service, excellent lobster rolls and satisfying sides. My husband and I stopped at this super cute food truck shortly after landing at PWM. After dealing with many hours of canceled flights, delayed flights and other airport nonsense the only thing that could make the day right was a friendly greeting from the team at The Ocean Roll and an incredibly delicious lunch. My husband got the cold roll and I got the hot. We shared a side of crinkle fries and washed it all down with a fountain Diet Pepsi and iced tea. Both rolls were very good. The hot lobster roll was richer with the butter drizzle whereas the cold lobster roll was more refreshing. The cold lobster roll was served with some lettuce underneath it and chopped celery on top. It was lightly dressed in mayo. Both rolls were served on buttered split top buns. A nice surprise was how good the side of Cole slaw was! I can be fussy with coleslaw but I thought The Ocean Roll's was perfect - not too mayonnaise-y and not too sweet. The crinkle fries were average but I'm not a big fan of crinkle fries anyway. Service was friendly, enthusiastic and helpful. Our food came up quickly and we enjoyed sitting in the warm sun at a clean picnic table for two. Parking was easy and this was an awesome experience.

Yelp
Great lobster roll and shaded picnic area. We got there a few minutes before opening and they took our order and got out food going no problem. Awesome staff.

Yelp
Good was outstanding and the customer service was excellent. If we are ever in this area again we will definitely come back and eat here again.

Denise L.

Yelp
Lobster roll, clam cake and chowder were a perfect afternoon pick us up! Staff was great.
google avatar

Vivian M.

Yelp
The lobster roll was delicious but small. Everything is extra. They also have burgers and hotdogs. $5 bucks for a hotdog which was definitely overpriced. So was the burger.
google avatar

Rose G.

Yelp
So delicious and reasonable! I loved the nostalgic food truck!! You should also try the chowder!
google avatar

Brandi C.

Yelp
Wow! Everything is so so good! The lobster roll was stuffed with lobster and the clam cakes?!? First time having one and absolutely incredible! Wonderful food.
google avatar

Nicole G.

Yelp
Absolute banger. Great lobster rolls with awesome portions. We got the twin hot lobster rolls ($35). Coleslaw was really good. The star of the show was the lobster bisque ($9). It was their soup or the day, but was so good I hope they bring it back as a daily soup. Great stop for a quick bite, and they even have a bathroom out back! Heads up, they are cash only.

Yelp
Wait wait wait...I can roll up here, park, get great food, and NOT spend 20 minutes looking for parking in the tourist trap center of Kennebunkport? Sure, there's good stuff there too, but we were just spent and fed up with crowds (mostly me, really), and this place satisfyingly and efficiently fixed my hangryness. Have I had equally good food elsewhere? Certainly. But this food truck fully met our grab-n-go style seafood expectations. They deservedly had a continuous flow of customers, kept up with it. In addition, they had plenty of seating, reasonable prices, and offered just what we were looking for in terms of food stuffs. If you're in a rush or just sick of the tourist hustle, head on over here instead. Not much to see, but you'll actually get to eat something without waiting forever with someone else breathing down your neck and stepping on your shoes.

Yelp
We wanted to love it but it just didn't work for us. Food (scallops and haddock) was bland and tough. And, it all got "soggy" quickly in the paper boxes.

Nancey R.

Yelp
Consistently excellent. Service quick and staff pleasant Clam cakes were the best I've ever had Prices were very fair considering higher than average quality

A A.

Yelp
Great food at a great price. One of the best lobster rolls we had and we had many during our visit.

Lottie T.

Yelp
Quick and delicious seafood from a truck. You can eat at a picnic table or get it to go.

Lisa S.

Yelp
We are picky lobster roll people. These were one of our absolute FAVORITES!! They had both cold and hot, buttered and Mayo, and no additional items in the roll. Incredible!! The people were pretty darn awesome as well. They added to our enjoyment and experience as well!

Mary R.

Yelp
Best lobster rolls we've ever had. Fried haddock and fried clams are delicious. We stop here every time we are in the area.

Yelp
Great fine! Just happened to go pick up McDonald's for son and drive passed by this food truck, decided to stop on the way back. Ordered: Lobster Roll (5/5)- $18 each or $35 for 2. Not pretentious other places that sell each rolls for $29-$39. This is just pure lobster heaven with hot butter (you can order cold too) in warm buttery bun and it comes with coleslaw on the side. Clam chowder (5/5)- again, not pretentious. Smooth, silky broth with lots of clams (didn't find any potatoes in it). We wish we stay in Kennebunkport a bit longer just to go back to this food truck again, it's that good.
google avatar

Lynne V.

Yelp
Best lobster rolls at the best price. Fried clams are epic as well. Eat at a picnic table aside their food truck which is touted as the oldest food truck in America. Or take it to the beach or local park.

Yelp
Came back again the next day, the lobster roll literally may have been the most perfect one I've ever had -- and for a great price. Bring cash, they don't take cards!

David P.

Yelp
We had the 50/50 basket with scallops and haddock and it was really good. And at a good price too! The service was friendly and the food was quick. Sitting under the canopy at the picnic tables was very nice on that sunny day. Also, the horse trailer out back has been converted into a bathroom that is nice and clean. Wife approved.

Robin W.

Yelp
Roadtrip from Texas to Maine and The Ocean Roll was our first Lobster Roll! It was delicious! We had one cold w mayo and one hot with butter. Both were loaded with lobster... fresh, sweet, awesome! The girls running the truck were super friendly and helpful. They had a nice little shaded sitting area to enjoy your Roll in this wonderful Maine weather. We could not have chosen a better spot to enjoy our first Lobster Roll from! Search RobinandTay on TikTok for the full video showing the rolls, truck and sitting area...Enjoy!

Brian B.

Yelp
Had a craving for fried scallops, saw the 50/50 box option and added full bellied clams. Very disappointing! Neither item had any taste. Don't know the reason for this but if I had a second chance I would have just had French fries, same taste!

Jenn M.

Yelp
Been quite a few times this year and never an issue until the other day. Asked if they had chowder (which is a reg item on the menu) and they didn't so had to figure out what my daughter would want instead, only to have the other person in the truck start mouthing off about how it's hot outside and who's going to eat chowder .... Was def a put off. Was going to order for 7 people.... And hubby was looking forward to his twin lobster rolls but he went without. I've been on the other side of a counter so understand both sides but I've never acted in such a way.

Yelp
Never ever have had a bad meal!! Love the covered area to sit outside and eat. Get a delicious lobster roll once or ten times, they will always be the same. Scrumptious! Nothing is too heavily breaded when you order fried seafood. It's light, airy, never greasy. And prices are reasonable for the large amount of food you get!! One note, the ladies that work there are great! They work from Dawn to dusk with a smile. Please remember to tip them. They so deserve it.
google avatar

Will J.

Yelp
Their hours are a lie. Do not bother coming here. They will not be open. It's possible that the existence of this place is just a prank.
google avatar

Richard C.

Yelp
Excellent food truck fare providing more than you can eat portions. Twin lobster rolls at a fair price are freshly picked, chilled or heated with butter, and accompanied by fresh cole slaw. The clam strip box is a terrific buy and my wife and I were only able to polish off half the box. Prompt order fulfillment makes this our "go-to" spot in the summer.
google avatar

Debbie A.

Yelp
Good food, great service. It's a food truck do depending on the weather the ambiance could go either way. Never been disappointed. There are picnic tables some undercover.

Yelp
We had often gone by this truck, but didn't know anything about it. So when friends recommended it, we gave it a try. My husband got the scallop plate which came with fries and slaw. He loved it and got two filling meals from it. I got a clam cake (appetizer), because I am not a big seafood eater. To me, it was just OK. It was deep fried and kind of chewy. I'm used to a softer, breaded, but not deep fried, clam cake, which I prefer. We would probably go back when we are in the area again.

Paige H.

Yelp
This was our last stop on our trip from Georgia. We were told to try the food trucks and we finally did! We got the lobster roll cold and fried scallops. AMAZING! Will definitely be visiting and eating here again!

Terri S.

Yelp
OMG! The clam cake was a revelation. A big fan of crab cakes, I had never even heard of a clam cake. I almost passed on this based on some other Yelpers saying it was dry. So very glad I decided to try it for myself. Moist, tender, perfectly seasoned, and lightly held together, the clam cake was the essence of CLAM. Honestly, I cannot praise these enough. The fried clam bellies were simply awesome. I don't think I have ever had bellies this big. The size allowed the clam flavor to shine. Clean briny tender delicious. My friend had fried scallops and loved them just as much. The night before we had the same meal at one of our favorite restaurants in York. The difference? We got TWICE the amount of food and paid 30% less at this spotlessly clean food truck. I also got lobster rolls to go ($35 for 2). Again, a serious bargain considering I paid $30 for 1 lobster roll of the same size and quality a few days earlier. When I explained the "to go" order, the fun, thoughtful, and all around delightful chefs offer to pack the meat separately from the buns so I could build the lobster rolls fresh when I was ready to eat them. Did I mention dog friendly? They even cut up the hot dog for us. And an actual bathroom with running water instead of a port-o-potty. I cannot think of anything I would wNt to see changed or improved.

Yelp
I've had lobster rolls all over New England including some of the supposed best places in Boston, and none have compared to the lobster roll at The Ocean Roll. The cold roll had perfectly sweet, fresh lobster with the right amount of mayo, celery, and lettuce all on a fresh buttered roll. The quintessential lobster roll! The clam chowder was also up there with the best clam chowder i've had anywhere in New England. Tender pieces of clam, potatoes, rich cream, and seasoned perfectly. The Ocean Roll is a destination if you're anywhere near Kennebunkport, and a detour if you're not!
google avatar

Monica L.

Yelp
I loved the fried haddock, coleslaw and fries. My friends all raved about the lobster rolls -- both the one with mayo and the one with butter. I would definitely go back!
google avatar

Andrew M.

Yelp
Great people. Great Lobster roll. The best we had while we were on Maine and we had lobster rolls each day for lunch! Lovely buttery toast to the bun, perfectly cooked lobster and nice crunchy celery.
google avatar

Elizabeth A.

Yelp
Really disappointed. we were looking forward to having a great dinner only to get it home and find that the Swordfish nuggets and the shrimp were completely over done. The coating was hard and dark brown and the food tasted burnt. Not at all what we expected.
google avatar

Sally R.

Yelp
Asked a local where to find reasonably priced clams that were good and we weren't disappointed'. they were freshly breaded as we ordered them and fried and served hot and tender. The best clams that we've had since being in New England for a week

Irv S.

Yelp
It is the best lobster and scallop rolls!! Just remember it is cash only and being a food truck you wait outside for your order

Kristin L.

Yelp
Terrible customer service, and not great food. Overrated. And the bathroom is broken.
google avatar

Tania S.

Yelp
There are a lot of really great lobster rolls to be had in Maine and this was definitely one of my favorites. Well-seasoned, good cole slaw and they even give you antibacterial wipes with every order, much appreciated in covid times. This food truck's lobster rolls beats out a lot of the sit down restaurant's rolls. Definitely come give it a try if you're in the area.
google avatar

Daniel G.

Yelp
Terrific cold and hot lobster rolls, best cole slaw! French fries sadly generic (frozen?). Yelp at its best finding gems like this.

Kenneth M.

Yelp
The Ocean Roll has become a common fixture in the Kennebunk area on Port Road. We always look forward to the tasty haddock bites, clam strips, swordfish bites, swordfish sandwiches, fries, etc. You can either eat there in the open air or in the tented areas or even better, take it to the beach and have a tasty dinner on the beach. We look forward to the food at the Ocean Roll year after year. Make sure you stop by and have some really tasty sea food. Thumbs up to the Ocean Roll.

Habiba L.

Yelp
Very friendly & welcoming staff Excellent lobster rolls and side. Cash only (no card)

Chevon B.

Yelp
All I can say is yesssssssss, fressshhhhhh and thee besssstttttt. The oldest food truck in the U.S. for a reason. The freshest frikkin haddock evah!!! Everything we had was so super fresh. The service was great with very personable crew including the sweetest and most polite young man working with his family for the Summer. I like their menu selections and also the mix & match options. There's benches and umbrella coverage and they're kept nice & clean. This is what you hope for when you come to a place like Maine. Just don't expect a bathroom, that's the one thing you won't get.
google avatar

Debrin S.

Yelp
Whoa! Looks are deceiving. This red & white truck w it's theater bulbs brightness parked on an immaculate patch of green w red picnic tables is so colorful & inviting. But, apparently it does a lot of seafood frying so um, perhaps regular oil changes? Old oil ruins fresh seafood & anything else for that matter. It was wholly apparent that the oil was old when we bit into our whole belly clams. They were soggy, not crunchy, or even tender on the inside. And the Kraft soybean tarter sauce? Yuk. It's sooo much easier & cost effective to make your own from scratch. We were disappointed. Perhaps it was an off night-
