Oceania Cruises

Our first time trying this line and loved the Vista ship. Our Oceania suite was awesome as was our butler Titus. The high quality sheets were so comfortable. We loved having breakfast in the cabin. We never took advantage of having courses of food (from the restaurants) served in our cabin as we enjoyed going out. Two full bathrooms might seem like overkill for two people, but came in handy when rushing to get ready in the morning. The food was great, but I would have to say I was somewhat disappointed by the Polo Grill in terms of taste (but, service from Luka was wonderful). We particularly enjoyed Red Ginger (Anna was amazing and always a joy to see) and Toscana (Filip was awesome) and went to these specialty restaurants twice. The Grand Dining Room was delicious and Marina was a lot of fun. I also enjoyed Aquamar Terrace's poke bowl and tacos. We loved the Founder's Bar and thought Samuel was great had the skills of true craft bartender. If they could incorporate large clear cubes to their mix, it would elevate the cocktails even more. I also really enjoyed Baristas and the bakery (Tameka was always so nice). We loved the music from the quartet and tried to see them as much as possible. The comedian Jeff Stevenson was awesome and worth seeing twice.

Comments and difficulties on the Oceanic cruise 10 July 2024 2 breakfsast at Hilton : super 3meals in Amsterdam : super On ship, inane music on pool deck : too loud. too repetitive. The Terrace cafe staff are very very helpful and attentive. They offered food that was tasty and well presented. The egress from the ship would use a ramp connected to the shore, or would use a lifeboat , referred to as a tender when the ship was not allowed close to the shore. When we visited Ireland, we used the tender. The first day, the sea was very rough and choppy waves, and we shipped in water by the two front windows . On the second trip, the sea was calmer. When I reported my concerns, I was told that the Security person was in charge of the tenders. Had a talk with him who told me me that voyagers were NEVER told that the life vests were under the seats ! But the airlines always describe in detail the safety precautions. Saw the ship Doctor who prescribed two antibiotics and cough syrup. The cost of treatment was around 1200 Cdn $ Night of 30 June - noisy : Banging. Could not sleep. Arrived in Oslo. Oceania had arranged a room with two beds. We were given one with bed for two people. We protested and were given a bedroom with two beds but I could not use the shower as the bath side was way too high. I had to skip showers for two days. On the day of our departure, the Oslo Grand Hotel was not aware of our plans. We had to take a taxi to the airport. . Our flight routing took us to Warsaw then to Toronto, on a Polish Airline (LOL) Upon arriving to Pearson, we realized that our suitcases had remained at the Oslo airport ; they arrived in Toronto two days after our arrival. Despite the marketing description, this cruise was not geared to Seniors. When visit the Medical Centre, I witnessed Seniors with bloodshot eyes, knee scrapes and other injuries caused by falls. I would not recomend this cruise to Seniors.

We were hugely disappointed by our first cruise on Oceania - Athens to Istanbul in Sep 2024. We tried them for the 1st time because they claim "finest cuisine at sea". We found their food wasn't the finest at all. The food is no better than your average Celebrity, Holland America etc lines... Their bath towels are rough, some hotels use them as towels on the floor in the bathroom. You see for yourself whether the photos I included in this review is the finest at sea. The presentations were not even adequate let alone finest. We will not be sailing with them again.

We did a voyage from Athens to Istanbul on their Riviera ship. This was our first cruise with Oceania. We have done many other cruises on Celebrity, Crystal, Royal Caribbean, (Princess in the 90s). While the cabin was nice and roomy, the overall rating is 3 because Oceania failed to deliver on a premium feel and memorable dining experience. See photos : for "finest dining at sea" - NOT really. For a bit more money, I'd for sure sail with Crystal to experience the premium feel and fine dining...so much better than Oceania. And for a bit less money, I'd go with Celebrity where their food in their dining rooms is almost as good and sometimes better. Actually, when you factor in the included items such as free wifi, specialty dining, excursion credits , drinks package, Oceania isn't that much more money than Celebrity. The food tasted great , very distinctive and delicate tastes. Meats were tender even in the buffet (so much better than Celebrity). But the quality of lobsters was poor... We gave it many tries but each time the lobsters meat was chewy and tasteless. Shame. Desserts were much better than Celebrity. High tea was just a disgrace...why bother !!! Staff was cheerful and polite but 60% struggled with their English. The captain needs more training as he was unable to dock the ship in Dubrovnik due to weather ...while 2 other ships were able to dock. So we won't be going back to Oceania any time soon as there hasn't been anything on this cruise that has wowed us to go back.

A Disappointing Experience on Oceania’s Regatta – Far from Luxury After a positive experience on a 30-day Oceania cruise in Africa aboard Nautica, we booked a 40-day cruise on Regatta (Tokyo to New Zealand, October 29, 2024). Unfortunately, it was a major disappointment. If you expect a luxury cruise, stay away from Oceania. Based on this trip, the service is no better than 3.5 to 4 stars. Key Issues on Our Penthouse Journey: 1. Internet – Misleading Advertising Despite being advertised as unlimited, the internet never worked. The manager, Alex Lalhruitluanga, blamed a firewall installation, later admitting Starlink doesn’t work in most of Asia. For 40 days, we had virtually no internet. Had we known, we would never have booked. Oceania should take responsibility for misleading and compensate passengers. 2. Food – Poor Quality & Inconsistency While the bakery was decent, main dishes were overcooked, overly salty, and lacked proper preparation. Even basic requests for rare, medium, or well-done steaks were misunderstood. 3. Air Conditioning & Ventilation – Uncomfortable Conditions Our penthouse suite was unbearably hot at first, though eventually fixed. The gym remained overheated despite constant complaints. Ventilation on the 8th floor was poor, with strong food odors from the 9th-floor restaurant. 4. Drainage & Water Issues Our shower constantly overflowed due to poor drainage. Crew blamed it on ship movements and used a chemical spray to avoid smell. We were also told to minimize water use as the ship couldn’t refill tanks in certain ports. 5. Excursions – Poorly Organized Out of 12 tours, only three were acceptable. Most guides spoke little English. In Hiroshima, the tour company requested a delay due to rain, but Oceania refused, leaving us soaked. In Jakarta, our bus driver got lost, stranding us in +35°C heat for 1 hour 40 minutes. A Darvin tour featured a five-hour ride on a non-air-conditioned bus to see two nearly lifeless crocodiles. 6. Itinerary Changes – Poor Planning Many itinerary changes were blamed on weather, yet new routes resulted in excessive ship shaking. The number of sea days increased, and when docking, Oceania often chose remote ports—even when central locations (e.g., Sydney) had space. 7. Entertainment – Below Standard Entertainment was far weaker than on previous Oceania cruises. 8. Laundry – Ruined Clothing After one use, five of our shirts were damaged beyond repair. 9. Staff – Polite but Ineffective Most staff were friendly but poorly trained. The only thing they efficiently managed was filing complaint tickets. Management, however, was dismissive, making excuses instead of solutions. Final Verdict: Cost-Cutting Over Customer Experience Oceania has clearly shifted its focus to reducing costs at passengers’ expense. This was far from a luxury experience. Would we sail with Oceania again? Absolutely not.

In October I achieved Platinum status in Oceania’s loyalty club. That qualifies me for a free cruise of up to 14 days. I worked with the Future Cruise Director on the ship and chose a 22 day cruise in March 2025 that goes from Singapore to Tokyo. On the Oceania website there are options to take one of two 11 day cruises or a 22 day cruise. The Future Cruise Director advised me to select the 22 day option so I would get full credit for the 14 days. I would be responsible to pay for the additional 8 days of the 22 day cruise. On her advice I did exactly that. When the booking came back from Oceania it only credited me for 11 days. I asked my travel agent why and she was told that cruise is really two 11 day cruises so I only got credit for 11 days. My travel agent pled my case and was offered a $500 shipboard credit for the confusion. Evidently, they were not willing to back up their employee. In addition they accepted no responsibility for offering the 22 day option. In mid-November I sent a personal email requesting a reconsideration of that decision to the Oceania Loyalty Club as well as to Customer Service. After six weeks of hearing nothing my Agent contacted them. The Loyalty Club said they thought the issue was resolved with the credit. She said it was not and they needed to respond to my email. She was told they would. I’m still waiting. In mid-December I sent an email to Passenger Advocate and CEO. I’ve heard nothing. Essentially, I feel like I have been ghosted by the Loyalty Club, the Customer Service, and Upper Management. SInce 2009, I’ve sailed over 300 days with Oceania, always booking their top tier cabins. And now they ghost me. My advice to all of you who are loyal passengers of Oceania is to be very careful. Don’t expect your loyalty to get you much.

First time on Oceanis cruise and we loved it! The beds were so comfortable, service was excellent and we loved every port on French Polynesia cruise. We would definitely cruise them again.

BEWARE you may mot get what you signed for! We paid months in advance for a Baltic cruise and 2 days before departure we got notified that the last stop in Helsinki before our destination port was cancelled due to daylights restrictions in Stockholm. This is not an unexpected event for cancellation as bad weather or political turmoil could be understandable in our view. I contacted the management team on board and was informed that it was a decision to accommodate a large group of travelers with their connecting flights. Good for them, bad for us. Free excursions or credit on board would have been an appreciable gesture instead of the “too bad” treatment I was answered with. We originally booked a few extra days in Stockholm and now because of the short notice we ended up spending 4 days in Stockholm with no cancellation possible. This was our first experience with Oceania which we were highly recommended by friends but disappointed us a great deal. Also among other comments, I will mention that the excursion we took to Berlin was below average as the 3 hours bus ride had no Wifi and we did not get to eat until 2:30pm after waking up at 6am. The martini bar on board the Sirena was understaffed at time with only 1 bartender slammed and rude to passengers. I understand his frustration, but take it on management and not on paying guests. Hours of operation for food service were too short as often we felt rushed when coming back from excursions and service stopped at 9pm, 9:30 would be a much better time. Overall the food was very satisfactory as described by friend’s comments. So in conclusion it was a very deceptive experience for what could have been easily a fantastic time if treated properly with a more caring attitude from the cruise line.
