Our five-night stay at Crows Nest Cottage exceeded our expectations . The cottage itself is a charming, quintessential beach house that offers a perfect blend of comfort and coziness. With its light-filled rooms, breezy atmosphere, and beach themed decor, it provided a most comfortable retreat. The sound of gentle waves lapping the shoreline just a short dune walk behind the cottage added to the serenity of our evenings & mornings. We definitely looked forward to beginning our mornings with the sumptuous complimentary breakfast served in the main lodge. The attentive staff served eggs made to order alongside an assortment of fresh fruit, croissants, meats, and other delightful goodies—an ideal way to fuel our days of relaxing exploration. Our experience at the Nordic Spa was remarkable and unforgettable . We began our “spa day” with a couples massage which was the perfect introduction to the day’s relaxing activities. The spa’s unique blend ( in an exquisite garden setting) of heat treatments, cold plunge, and restful breaks created a holistic cycle that invigorated our bodies, cleared the mind, and uplifted our spirits. The knowledgeable and friendly attendants made the experience even more special, ensuring we felt comfortable and cared for at every step. Complementing our entire Oceanstone experience were the ocean views and gorgeous sunsets from our cottage , which provided the perfect backdrop for unwinding after a days adventures . My wife and I enjoyed walking the pristine beach in front of the cottage, searching for tiny treasures of sea glass & shells which immensely added to the joy of our stay. Overall, Oceanstone Resort and Nordic Spa offered an all-encompassing retreat that nurtured our mind, body, and spirit. The warm hospitality of the staff truly made us feel like valued guests, and we left feeling inspired, and eager to return next year . For anyone seeking a restorative, beautiful, and inspiring getaway, I highly recommend Oceanstone for a complete experience of tranquility and renewal.

Great spa located no to to far out of Halifax. It's definitely worth the drive. Very clean and comfortable. All the The amenities were wonderful and we took full advantage of them all on our 2 hr stay. Make sure you check out the ocean view as well.

Oceanstone is a lovely retreat at the seaside. We found it refreshingly lowkey and restorative. The Nordic circuit is nice, as is the spa and gym. Jumping in the ocean is *very refreshing*. Overall, great experience — will come back. Extra shout out: the resort is run by an army of very young people who did an amazing job of taking care of us, the rooms, and grounds. I’ve never encountered a group of young adults so capable.

This is a wonderful place to come and unwind and be at peace with yourself and nature. Great opportunity to get grounded. It is a small, intimate setting with everyone on the same journey. A great place to come by yourself or reflect and share the experience with others. Staff are very friendly and helpful and the venue is very clean. Relax by the fire, enjoy cucumber or lemon water, and don't forget the chamomile tea (it is very calming). See you again soon.

The location of the resort was great |||and the staff were very friendly and accommodating.|The food at the Rhubarb restaurant was average as were the on site breakfasts.|Nice features include our own fire pit with fresh ingredients stacked campfire wood and a food service for day picnics or for bbqing. |The cabins were OK, nothing special. Perhaps a bit rustic but they were comfortable for our party of 4. |My sense is the resort is trying to be a 5* player but right now only batting 3*.|We did not try the spa which looks like it could be close to a 5* facility.

First stay at resort. Beautiful location, staff are very friendly and accommodating. Room - we had Rhubarb room #2 which is over the kitchen end of the restaurant so we knew when booking that it would be noisier so just be aware that it is - the hours of operation are 11:30 to 8 however they need to prep in the morning so they are there early at 6:30-7 am so no sleeping in unless you have ear plugs this is not a criticism just an awareness. We were good with it as we got up early to get about our day. The view from the deck on our room was spectacular and a great place to sit as long as the weather is good. Bed was comfortable, room is small but again that is ok. The room does not have a chair to sit in which I did make the suggestion to add even a couple of good folding chairs in the closet that could be used. The shower was heavily impacted by the kitchen as well which I also let the resort know about. Overall the room was fine it could just be better with a couple of little tweaks. The common areas are lovely and allow you to enjoy different areas of the resort. The breakfast is bar none the best included breakfast we have had. It is a buffet style, but they take the extra step to make your eggs and bagels fresh to order. The breakfast staff were very welcoming. We would recommend a stay at this resort and we will return.

We had an overnight staycation at Oceanstone last weekend, and I absolutely loved the massage and body scrub. The scenery and location were also fantastic; living near the ocean truly feels like heaven to me. However, I do have a few complaints about Oceanstone: Issues Encountered * Rhubarb Building Suites smells fried fish: The rooms and hallways, especially in the Rhubarb building, smelled strongly of fish, particularly around lunch and supper. It seems the restaurant downstairs causes these odors to smell into the guest rooms. * No In-Suite Telephones: There are no telephone lines in any of the suites. If you have a concern, you have to use your own phone (where the signal can be weak) or walk to the front desk. * Intermittent Water Supply in Rhubarb Building: The water in the Rhubarb building was frequently on and off. Staff informed us this is due to the restaurant downstairs using a lot of water. * Spa Staff Communication: A spa staff member forgot to get back to me regarding a body wash refill. They didn't inform me that the body wash was out of stock. I am waiting for 14 to 20 minutes inside the shower room wairing for refill. I recommend that resort staff routinely double-check and replenish body wash and shampoo in the changing rooms. The staff did offer us a free room upgrade, which was a very kind gesture. I truly hope Oceanstone continues to improve its services, especially concerning the Rhubarb building rooms."

We recently stayed here in Room #1, and while we appreciated the friendly staff and the wonderful complimentary breakfast, we did encounter a number of issues that made our experience less comfortable than we had hoped. To start, the room itself was quite small—particularly for two guests—and we were surprised to be placed between larger groups. This contributed to a lack of privacy, especially because of the shared balcony design. We were disappointed to find that guests from adjacent rooms frequently walked across our balcony to visit one another. This made us feel like we had no private space to relax or enjoy the view, and it’s something we would not expect from a hotel that advertises a peaceful getaway. The air conditioning unit was another issue—it was a window unit installed in the only operable window, and unfortunately, it was extremely loud. It made sleeping difficult and blocked any chance of enjoying natural ventilation. Additionally, there was no in-room refrigerator or access to ice. While there is a shared fridge in a common area, it felt uncomfortable sharing a refrigerator with guests from six other rooms—especially when storing personal food or medication. Safety was also a concern. The room’s small size made the footboard particularly hazardous. Both my husband and I ended up bumping into it multiple times, and we strongly suggest adding some kind of padding or redesign to prevent future guests from injury. One final note: it felt confusing and a bit off-putting that the restaurant directly below the rooms seemed adamant that they were unaffiliated with the hotel. We chose this place because of its charm and the promise of a relaxing, boutique experience. While we truly appreciated the hospitality of the staff and the quality of the breakfast, the issues above had a significant impact on our overall stay.

Yelp
sorely disappointed with the disgusting change room at the end of the day. Dirty Kleenex floating in sink, an inch of gross water on the floor, robe basket overflowing and flipflops everywhere. It made me gag after a relaxing time outdoors. All this after having to listen to a staff member being rude to a fellow worker. When we were leaving the response was that the cleaner went home early! One staff member followed us out to apologize not like the colleague who was rudely yammering to her colleague. We followed up with a call and email and received a sorry. That too is not appropriate. A refund or something to try to make up for the disgusting state of the non sanitary change room would be an attempt to make things right. Sad situation caution on the change room conditions and less than satisfactory excuses.

Yelp
This place is magical. Truly. We were in Nova Scotia for our honeymoon trip and had only planned the first couple of days and the last couple as well - leaving a bit of room in the middle for spontaneity. An internet search brought us to Oceanstone, which seemed like the perfect place to stay as we also wanted to check out Peggy's Cove too. We were lucky enough to secure one night and totally fell in love with the resort, pretty much at first sight. We had put in our booking comments that we were on our honeymoon, hoping we might get a really nice room. We were so pleasantly surprised to walk up to the kitchen in our super cute private cottage and find a lovely bottle of wine along with handmade, outrageously delicious sea salt caramels and a hand written note. To the resort, perhaps a small gesture but to us, it really make our stay that much more special. We really enjoyed our night's stay in our private cottage, which was just set behind the main lodge. The cottage was quaint, clean, and well appointed. We loved our small balcony just outside the living room area, we enjoyed our coffees out there in the morning. The bed was also super comfy too, like a cloud. We loved it there so much we inquired about staying a second night however sadly the resort happened to be fully booked for a wedding party the days immediately following our stay. We ended up eating at the restaurant on their property, Rhubarb, three times in just 2 days - it was so good. We enjoyed an early dinner when we first arrived, then ordered pizza as a "later" night snack then ordered take out the next day for dinner from the next cottage resort we ended up staying at just down the road. We also took a couple of lovely, calm walks along the ocean front during our stay which was so nice. The property is stunning and it feels like you are in another part of the world completely. Looking forward to someday returning again!

Yelp
This place is the quintessential Nova Scotia / Atlantic Coast experience. After traveling non stop in the Maritimes for 2 weeks, I ended my trip with a one night stay at Oceanstone. From the minute I arrived, I was thrilled! It's like a private oasis of lovely. Gorgeous & well-kept cottages, a lovely main building, and beach-side cabins. When I walked into Hollyhock #3, I almost fell over. A huge room that was apartment style with a full kitchen, living room area with couch & coffee table, small dining table, and a large king size bed facing double French doors with an amazing view of the ocean. Like off the wall dreamy! Oh, and then there was the large jacuzzi tub. A perfect place for a romantic getaway or a solo retreat. Strolling around the grounds was something out of a movie. The "wedding spot" with the wooden frame near the beach is definitely something from a romance novel. The beach front is a lovely & quiet spot facing the west with a fabulous view of a lighthouse. I'd say any picture you take at Oceanstone is Instagram worthy! I also loved Rhubarb which was basically on the property as well - great to have a lovely dinner and then stroll back to my oasis. The only drawback of my visit: I only stayed for one night! I plan on coming back next year and am considering a retreat there as well.

Yelp
I experienced Oceanstone for the first time this summer at my cousin's wedding. Picturesque to say the least! Summertime cottages scatter along an upwards winding road, amongst wilderness and deep waters. Its an escape from reality at a mere 20 minute drive from the city. The wedding was a huge affair, booking out the entire retreat for a weekend. With the families and guests having full run of things, I was able to do a fair share of peeking around... and let me tell you: this place is serene. Cottages varied in size and each had their very own sweet 'n' seaside title. (For example: "Periwinkle" and "The Captain's House") Decor was country chic, featuring vintage cabinets, rich wooden paneling, homemade quilts and so many other adorable quirks. Lodgings gave the feeling of home and a reflection of peaceful surroundings. The reception hall was just as refined. Its Old Victorian style gave a real atmosphere to the event and was more of a home than a dining hall. Its prolific bar and french doors to the dining room highlighted such character. Oceanstone isn't cheap but its an amazing escape from the everyday. Right off the water and secluded from outside influence, its wilderness is at your fingertips and one step closer to heaven. Swoon.

Yelp
My husband and I recently stayed at Oceanstone as part of our honeymoon and really enjoyed our time there. We stayed in one of the cottages- Ocean Vista. Except for the furniture, it felt like it had been recently renovated. Nice soothing color palate that works perfectly for a beach cottage. The entire studio cottage was on the second floor (I think the first floor may be used for storage) and we had a stunning view of the rest of the grounds and the water. We had a big tub that was outside the bathroom- not a hot tub, but it was a water-jet tub. We spent a good amount of time on the deck in the Adirondack chairs reading and just sitting out there at night. They give you old-school keys, too! It was funny having it jangle around in our bags. The grounds are beautiful! There are gardens everywhere- both veggie and flower. Whoever tends them does a wonderful job! Though we really enjoyed our time there, here were the low points: -No wireless internet during our stay (not because we needed Facebook, but we wanted the convenience of Google maps and checking our email for reservations confirmations and other info) -The mattress needs to be replaced. It sloped inward toward the center! -Our kayaking was cancelled a few days prior to our visit. I'm guessing maybe an instructor left? We were offered free use of the equipment during our stay, though. -There was a restaurant/cafe on site, which was really convenient since we had to drive to get to food otherwise. I say "was" because when we checked in, we were informed that it had closed for good a few days prior. That was a bummer. Despite these hiccups, it was a nice stay. The people here generally have their act together- they were always quick to respond to emails and their website is pretty helpful. The staff was friendly. We'd definitely return! Also of note: Your GPS might not find it. It might want to send you to the community of Peggy's Cove where the lighthouse is. You have to keep driving past there on Route 333 for another 2 miles or so! It'll be on the left.

Yelp
What a cute resort. My family stayed here for one night and really enjoyed our time. We had a sweet, spacious unit with a queen bed and a pull out couch. The unit had a kitchen - which was unexpected and we appreciated! The resort is right on the ocean and we got to see classic maritime fog literally rolling in for the first time here. A very light breakfast is served. Cereal, toast, yogurt, coffee, tea. We weren't expecting anything, and were pleasantly surprised. The staff is very pleasant. I'd definitely recommend staying here if you plan on going to Peggy's Cove the next morning. You wouldn't have to travel far and won't have to wake up so early just to beat the crowds there in the morning.

Yelp
This place was gorgeous and a lovely spot for a wedding celebration. The scenery is breathtaking, and the cottages scattered through the property are adorable. Little messages and snippets of poetry are pinned to the trees on the walkways, and the gardens and woods are impeccably maintained. We were lucky enough to get a suite, with two bedrooms and a sitting area - more than the two of us needed, but would have been wonderful if travelling with a group. The wedding was also lovely - the dining room and dance space were tastefully appointed and well-decorated and the food scrumptious. I have to say that we had a few issues with the reservations and counter-staff, including a lack of familiarity with the wedding that was scheduled when reservations were made, some confusions around the bookings made, and a certain lack of courtesy. If we can get some of that resolved, I'll likely come back and add some more stars, but it added some stress and anxiety to what was otherwise a lovely weekend.

Yelp
I recently spent 1.5 days at Oceanstone with colleagues for our annual corporate retreat/planning session. I've been to a lot of meeting rooms and corporate resorts in the past few years, and I think Oceanstone is alright. The staff were friendly, the scenery is beautiful and the property is well kept. However, the rooms have thin walls, the food was sub-par (undercooked fish at one meal and bland overall), and as a meeting space, it didn't really cut the mustard. I hate giving a two stars to a place that others have enjoyed, but I don't think that I'd choose Oceanstone again.

Yelp
I have yet to actually stay here, but I must say after visiting recently to do a bridal party's makeup this has to be one of the quietest and most picturesque views of the coast I have ever seen. I can't wait to stay here in the future! Make sure you check out their website and look them up when you're looking for a girls weekend away, a romantic weekend away or just some good ol' fashioned relaxation.

Jenn H.

Yelp
The resort is beautiful and well maintained. It has just recently been renovated and the work and upgrades are very well done. I attended my brother's wedding here this past weekend and the staff and grounds were great! Lizzie was the wedding planner extraordinaire and she went out of her way to ensure that everything was done just as the bride and groom wanted. Chris was the food & bar manager and ensured that the guests remained happy and well "fueled"! The food at the reception was delicious - much more high end than I originally expected. I didn't necessarily know what to expect when I arrived (it was first time ever to Halifax and surrounding areas) but I was more than impressed with the venue and would definitely recommend it to anyone interested. The only (minor) downsides is that they need more lighting around the pathways at night time as the grounds get really dark at night. Also, the rooms in the main building don't have the best soundproofing so I would recommend a private cottage if you want more privacy from your neighbors.

Yelp
Great cottages and setting. Friendly staff. The restaurant was good too but they did not know much bout sustainable seafood. However, as we enquirer they asked questions and seemed interested. Wished we could have stayed longer but they were fully booked for a wedding. What a great spot to get married

Florence P.

Yelp
I am beyond DISTURBED with how oceanstone has treated me and fiancé. We had planned for a small elopement (i.e. last second) and we had oceanstone held until Aug 24 as per the wedding coordinator Roberta. We decide to go ahead with the location with all vendors booked and invitations ordered. Today, we book the venue to finalize another thing off our list and we are informed the venue has been BOOKED on our date and that they can no longer accommodate us. The email had suggested they had booked a larger party for a longer period of time. I was DISGUSTED. I reached out to the GM less than an hour from that response. I told him about all our negative experiences with Roberta and how this is the FINAL straw. He was very unhelpful and continued to come up with excuses. He continued to say that because we hadn't paid yet, it means nothing. EVEN THOUGH in writing the coordinator told us that we have the date held until AUGUST 24 (a week away). I am unbelievably disturbed and stressed with our wedding less than TWO months away.

Yelp
My husband and I found the Ocean Stone by sheer accident or act of God. We had reservations at a hotel chain in Halifax but they fell through. Thankfully the Ocean Stone had vacancies. The cottage we had was outstanding, right on the water and very quaint. It had all of the amenities we needed, plus very quiet. It would be our favorite spot to return to if we were not from the West Coast.

Yelp
My husband, myself and another couple booked a night away at Oceanstone Resort . We had heard great things about the resort as well as the restaurant. Our friends had to cancel because of a condition that occasionally flares up. Just would not be fun for them. Aww darn we are still going. Or so I thought until my husband ends up in emerge. They want him to stay in the hospital until more tests can be done . Long weekend and all. I had to cancel . I phoned the resort and told them what had happened. She wished us luck and was very sincere. Unlike our friends we were well past the cancellation deadline. You are charged 25% at the time of booking which is totally understandable . I was expecting to be charged that. Ok a part of me wondered whether I would be charged for the entire room because they had every right to do so. When I phoned to cancel I didn't ask and she didn't say. My husband went to sleep and I left to buy some stuff. My God the man does not own a pair of pyjamas. When I got to the car I checked my phone . Already an email from the resort, saying they had refunded my deposit and wishing my husband a fast recovery . How classy,no how sweet is that? I think her name was Gracie. In this crazy world we live it made me smile . In our little Nova Scotia we still have heart and compassion for our fellow human beings. I can't wait for our next get away because it will be at Oceanstone. I owe you fine folks that. I really want to meet you . I hope you could rent our room and had a busy weekend .
