"With their superb fleet of ice-strengthened ships and immersive basecamp cruise concepts (which include camping on the continent itself and technical activities like mountaineering), Oceanwide Expeditions knows the seventh continent and its seas like few others. On their newest vessel, the m/v Janssonius, launching October 2021, they’re offering a 20-day Grand Tour that checks off all the top spots on your Antarctic must-see list, like the Peninsula, South Georgia, and the Falklands. The eclipse will be viewed near the South Orkney Islands close to the Weddell Sea pack-ice. Perfect for hardy adventurers, their hands-on itinerary includes snowshoeing and hiking, as well as wildlife observation to see King, Gentoo, and rockhopper penguins, seals, and more. While the Janssonius is the pick of the litter, with environmentally friendly engineering, charming cabins, and spacious observation deck, Oceanwide is sending two other ships, the m/v Plancius and m/v Hondius, that depart around the same time and follow similar itineraries."

I went on an Antarctica Basecamp expedition with a company, and it was incredible—a memory I'll cherish forever. Camping, kayaking, and mountaineering were so much fun. We spotted lots of penguins, whales, and seals. The crew was awesome and super friendly. Being a vegan, I had a few food options on board, and the chef even cooked special meals for me sometimes. It was an amazing journey that I'll always treasure.

One of the greatest holiday experiences was recently on board the remarkable ship Plancius. The trip was phenomenal, from Ushuaia to inside the Antarctic Circle, camping out overnight under a star filled sky. Setting foot on the Antarctic continent. Experiencing Penguins, Seals, Humpback, Minke, and Fin Whales. Shags and Albatross, plus the breathtaking scenery of Antarctica. The guides are superb, the ship crew sensational. Food choices are as good as any high-class hotel and, in many cases, better. The restaurant team of Jerrica, Charlotte, Kahel, Indira, Prince, Raquel, supported by Jerricho, Maylin, Menchie, Alice, Lemuel, Stephanie, the cooks, the AB team, no better team exists on any ship Yes, it is expensive but if you can, it is highly, highly, highly recommended. The photos do not do it justice. The videos even of whale call can not give you the feeling, but as you can not have my memories, they will have to do.

The expedition to South Georgia, Antarctica and the Arctic Circle will remain in my memories forever.

We enjoyed the service we received during our polar expedition. But there were a group of German passengers on board. Many of the passengers step on the seats with their dirty shoes, even after the crew member reminded them not to do so. They spit on the floor, stare at passengers when they take pictures and sometimes rude towards other non-Caucasian passengers with kids in the dining room.

There are no words to describe the wild beauty of Antarctica and Oceanwide is specialised with an excellent team for these expeditions

HDS25-24 Dec.17/2023--Jan.04/2024 1. Sorry excuse for the hotel managers on board HDS25-24: the two Dutch hotel staff who were supposed to provide pleasant service for me as a passenger who paid 14,600USD for a bed in a quad cabin, and yet they ganged up against me and humiliated me right at the reception: me and the man (assistant manager) were having arguments over my dissatisfaction about their bad service, then suddenly the woman appeared from the back room and, instead of trying to alleviate my anger, she scolded me, one of their paying customer, "Now, you're being very impolite speaking to my staff this way." I was so shocked by such mal-treatment from a hotel reception desk that I just turned to leave with a fit of anger in my heart and a sentence: I don't want to talk anymore! In my traveling experience to 50+ countries, people at a hotel reception desk were always apologetic when they faced a customer's dissatisfaction or unreasonable demand/ request, "I'm really sorry, but . . . " Yet the above-mentioned Dutch assistant manager's response was always, "No, It's impossible . . . ;" "You're not allowed to . . . " "If you're so sensitive to noise, you should've paid big money to have a room to yourself;" "I can only say you bought the ticket at the wrong time." Arrogance or racism? If I were not Asian, would they (especially the woman) be sooooooooooooooo rude to me? Or just a pure lack of humanity? I don't know, but I'm downright pissed off! 2. I paid 14,600USD for a bed in a quad cabin, and I got assigned to a triple cabin, but, a woman from Norway paid 12500euro (which was about 1,000USD less than what I paid) got in a 2-person cabin; a woman from Hong Kong who paid 14,600USD got promoted to a 2-person cabin; another person paid 1,000USD less than what I paid was also assigned to a 2-person cabin. Why? Why? Why is it so confusing? It's sooooooo unfair. 3. The ladder that's placed on the upper bunk was not fixed to the bed, so I was in such bad luck that, when returning and passing through the super wavy Beagle Channel and I happened to be stepping down to the ground floor, the ladder became separated from the bed by severe wavy force to become upright in the air, with me still on the second step from the bottom, I was thus thrown violently left to the small sofa and sprained my left wrist, which to this date is still hurting. To sum up, it's just my pure bad luck that I rode with HDS25-24! I will never take any cruise with Oceanwide and I'll definitely pass around the bad fortune I had with HDS25-24.

A racist firm! Had a horrendous experience with Oceanwide in Antarctica last November. Some of the expedition team members were blatantly racist and mistreated virtually all the Asian guest onboard. Tried to contact the company afterwards but they decided to listen to the lies of their staff and not doing anything!

I’m deeply astonished by the previous rassis-mus comment from the German traveller ‘Heike W’, which contains blatant stereotyping and generalization, as well as unbelievable hate towards children, which constitutes complete Rassis-mus. If we replace ‘Chinese’ by ‘Juden’ in her comment, it reminds me of how they described the Juden 90 years ago, it is unbelievable to read such German comments in 2023!
