We had such a peaceful and relaxing stay — the entire property feels like a tranquil spa from the moment you arrive. The location itself is incredibly serene, creating the perfect atmosphere to truly slow down and unwind. Even though the weather was rainy during our visit and we didn’t get to fully enjoy all of the beautiful river views, the rain actually made the experience feel even more cozy and calming. A special thank you to Lourenço in Guest Relations, who went above and beyond to make our stay memorable. He helped arrange a wonderful private wine tour and added thoughtful birthday surprises throughout the day for my husband that truly made the trip feel extra special. Overall, it was a fantastic experience — serene, restorative, and exactly the kind of getaway we were hoping for. We would absolutely recommend this resort to anyone looking for a peaceful escape.

This is honestly one of the best hotels I’ve ever stayed in, truly next-level in every way. We booked the Riverview room, and it was absolutely perfect, the view was spectacular, and every little detail in the room felt luxurious and thoughtfully designed. There are two outdoor pools: one on the 10th floor with an incredible panoramic view (perfect for summer), and another on a lower floor, also with stunning scenery. I heard the water there is warmer, though I didn’t get to try it because the weather was cloudy and cool. The indoor pool, however, is just wow. It has an amazing view too, and even the poolside beds were the most comfortable I’ve ever experienced. On the first night, they surprised us with a sleep kit, a pillow mist, eye mask, and earplugs. Such a small gesture, but it really showed how much they care about their guests and the quality of their stay. There are plenty of cozy spots around the hotel to relax with a coffee, and you can order hot drinks almost anywhere. Every corner feels warm and inviting, with breathtaking views all around. I highly recommend this hotel, whether you’re traveling as a couple or with family. Everything was perfect, the staff was incredibly kind, and the service was excellent from start to finish.

This is - without a doubt - the perfect place to a weekend getaway if you’re ever in a need of recharging and escaping from the city chaos. ||From the moment we were cheerfully received by Catarina and given a facilities tour by Daniel to the lovely dinner served by Fatima and the rest of the incredible staff at À Terra and that delicious food. To the draw dropping breakfast selection, where we were happily greeted by Sr. Ribeiro - who gave us marvelous suggestions about where to go and how to spend our time in Douro… Every single person made a difference in our stay. They are all worthy of appreciation words. ||And the rest? The room was incredible, with an amazing view to the Douro River; The food was absolutely delicious, made with local products. (I’m still dreaming about the covert. That’s right. The covert.) The gardens and trails around and within the property were very pleasant to walk through, …||And lastly, I could not end my review without mentioning how incredible pet friendly they are. I brought my frenchie with us and she couldn’t possibly have been more well treated. With a pet kit - consisting of a bed, some treats, a bowl, a toy, a diaper and poo bags - waiting for her in our room and all of the staff giving her so much attention, she was completely in heaven. Also, the À Terra restaurant is also pet friendly, which means we were able to really enjoy the stay alongside our dog!! ||I can’t recommend this place enough, you have to see it for yourselves!||Thank you for all the amazing staff that made our experience so great. I truly hope to visit soon :)

We had an amazing experience at Octant Douro—truly a magical place. It’s perfect for families, with beautiful surroundings and a super relaxing atmosphere. The staff were incredibly friendly and welcoming, and Bernardo took great care of us throughout our stay. We can’t wait to come back!

I stayed at Octant Douro for two nights, and it was truly unforgettable. My River View room was absolutely stunning — waking up to those views was a highlight in itself. The entire property is beautifully designed and feels serene and luxurious. Breakfast each morning was excellent, with great variety and warm, attentive service throughout my stay. The spa was another standout; the steam circuit in particular was incredible and made for such a relaxing experience. My only regret is not staying longer. I will definitely be back at some point — this is a place that stays with you long after you leave, can’t recommend enough!

Arguably the greatest hotel I've ever visited. Every part of our experience was class. The team is kind, welcoming, and prompt to accommodate any request. The rooms are stunning - serene as can be with gorgeous views everywhere you look. The architecture of the property is one of a kind. Walking through the hotel, one can see the luxurious interior blending perfectly with the encompassing nature surrounding us. Every pool is fantastic, each offering a different experience. The food everywhere on the property is excellent. The breakfast buffet is the greatest I've ever been offered at a hotel, but the absolute star is the Raiva restaurant. The prix fixe blew us away. I will be looking for any excuse to return here and relive the getaway of a lifetime.

I recently stayed at Octant Douro and it was an unforgettable experience. The setting is incredibly serene, with beautiful grounds that make it easy to relax and unwind. What truly stood out, though, was the staff — I have never encountered a team so genuinely committed to going above and beyond for their guests. Every interaction felt warm, thoughtful, and personal. The food and beverage program was outstanding, offering both quality and creativity at a very reasonable price point. Dining here was a highlight of the stay. The spa amenities were also exceptional — truly some of the best I’ve experienced, and the perfect complement to the peaceful atmosphere of the property. Everything about Octant Douro struck the perfect balance of luxury, comfort, and value. I would not hesitate to return and highly recommend it to anyone looking for a memorable getaway in Portugal.

Beware this not actually in the doruo valley. It is in the middle of no where. Nothing to do. No restaurant’s around expect on property which are awful. The hotel does not offer a shuttle service anywhere. If you do not have a car you are literally stuck. If you do have a car there is nothing to do. I would not call this a 5 star hotel at all. Very disappointed in everything. We could not wait to leave . I am shocked so many people gave them a good review.
