Octant Praia Verde, Eastern Algarve, Portugal - Explore & Book

"Here on the eastern coast, you'll find a rare pocket of the Algarve that hasn’t been over-developed. Set amidst protected pine forests, you're only a short hop across to Spain, and a 15-minute stroll down to a magnificent sandy beach with a handful of low-key restaurants and bars. Most of its 65 suites have bijou kitchenettes and sofabeds, so it’s especially handy for families or as a base for longer stays. Design is sleek and clean, with good use of slate and mosaic tiles. This boutique hotel cleverly blends a homely, honest feel into a contemporary open-plan style. But there's a touch of soul, too. We found the service absolutely charming. Their popular restaurant A Terra serves hearty dishes from the wood-burning oven, and they have an exclusive beach restaurant too. For those in search of local produce (including the famous Castro Marim 'flor de sal'), there's a small deli corner which is great for gifts. We left with the following words chalked up on their reception blackboard: "The world is a book, and those who do not travel read only one page!" Indeed. Praia Verde is a page not worth skipping. Highs We loved the relaxed, friendly, open-plan vibe and delicious food An easy 15-minute walk to one of the Algarve's best beaches, which has a choice of seasonal restaurants, kiosks and bars, in addition to the hotel's own A great, unspoilt location, with lots to do (cycling, dolphin watching, castles); and Seville is only 1.5 hours drive away Affordable family suites and free kids club during the summer months Less than a 45-minute drive from Faro airport Lows The hotel was renovated and extended in 2025, with a new spa, pool and 20 new rooms which we haven't yet seen Pine trees obscure much of the view from lower-floor rooms You'll probably want a hire car – there are few shops or transport links nearby Suite kitchenettes are pretty basic but useful for preparing snacks" - Aidan Forestier-Walker

Wonderful hotel with the friendliest staff. The hotel looks bigger than it is which is a big plus. They have thought of everything and despite not being right next to the sea, the trolley ride or even walk there is short and nice. The offered sunbeds and umbrella on the beach are brilliant and the staff there are also extremely friendly and accommodating. We'll definitely be back!

A Peaceful and Stylish Escape Octant Praia Verde is the perfect mix of comfort, nature, and style. Surrounded by pine trees and just a short walk from the beach, it’s a peaceful retreat with beautifully designed suites, great food, and exceptional service. From the moment we arrived to the moment we (reluctantly) had to leave, our experience at this hotel was nothing short of exceptional. The facilities are beautifully designed - modern, spacious and filled with natural light. We were lucky to have a room on the 3rd floor with a fantastic view, which made our stay even more memorable. Practical touches like the on-site EV chargers were a big bonus, allowing us to recharge our vehicle overnight and continue our journey stress-free the next day.||The À TERRA restaurant deserves a special mention - it was truly one of the culinary highlights of our entire trip through Portugal. Every dish was thoughtful, fresh, and bursting with flavour.||But what really made this stay extraordinary was the team. The staff were warm, welcoming and consistently went above and beyond. Every interaction from check-in, to housekeeping, to the restaurant and bar staff was marked by professionalism, kindness and genuine hospitality. It’s rare to find a team so consistently dedicated to making guests feel looked after, and it’s something we won’t forget.||Our only regret was that we couldn’t stay longer due to a flight. We would absolutely recommend this hotel to anyone visiting the area and will definitely be back if we find ourselves in this beautiful region again.

A stunning hotel in a beautiful setting! The rooms are lovely, the breakfast is super varied and delicious, and most of all, the staff is incredibly attentive and professional. We absolutely loved our stay at Octant Praia Verde. A fantastic experience! We just hope the prices don’t go up too much with the hotel’s upcoming expansion 🤞🤟😃

It’s an excellent four star hotel. It’s perfect for families with young children and the kids club activities are pretty great. The pool is lovely and never felt crowded. They have a buggy that takes you 3 minutes to the beach where they have a beachside concession with umbrellas and toys for the kids. The rooms are not obsequiously decorated and are very comfortable. The food ranges from pretty good to phenomenal at times (the arroz de polvo is served paella style and is excellent!) The staff overflows with positivity (especially if you’re a foreigner who speaks some Portuguese, as we do). Coordinating plans and activities over email prior to our arrival was super easy. We travel frequently and typically only stay at phenomenal hotels. The staff here meets and often exceeds that standard. They’re a very impressive team with obviously strong leadership. Well done!

We have stayed at this hotel several times, and each time has been positive. We just returned from yet another stay, and wanted to give credit where credit is due. First of all, the staff at this hotel is ALWAYS SMILING, ALWAYS FRIENDLY, ALWAYS HELPFUL. You cannot help but feel well cared for when everyone is so kind. The property is clean, airy, lovely. The beach (which is either a short walk or a hotel shuttle ride) is a vast white-sand beauty. Although we did stay here when our 3 kids were younger, this particular stay was just my husband and I. I would definitely call this a family-friendly hotel (there were small kids galore), but the hotel accommodates families with ease, and if you prefer quiet, it's easy to find solitude in the natural surroundings. A couple specifics that I've always loved: they provide each guest with a terrific beach hat, a beach bag, and even a small pouch (to carry incidentals). The rooms (many of them suite-style) are roomy and comfortable. The housekeeping staff is stellar, and they provide you with little bags called "Sleeping Kits", which include a small lavender spray bottle and ear plugs (such a sweet touch), as well as bottles of water and delicious cookies that I loved. Meals were outstanding, and - in fact - this was particularly telling on this visit because we happened to be there when the country-wide power outage occurred (April 2025). The Octant had generators that kicked right in, so we did not miss a thing, and that includes a fabulous breakfast, lunch and dinner. The breakfast spread, by the way, is incredible. Top notch. While I could probably go on, one final note is that the manager is always present. He wanders around, fully engaging with guests, staff, and making sure everyone is being well cared-for. A highly visible hotel manager is always a good thing. High recommendations for the Octant Praia Verde.

Excellent facilities and attention to detail, from all staff in the hotel. The room was spacious and met all our needs. The gardens were magnificant and it was wonderful for us to sit out and have a leisurely breakfast in the garden.

The most lovely hotel – incredibly attentive and charming staff and a brilliant atmosphere as a result. The restaurant is amazing – fantastic food and incredible sommeliers and wine list. The staff and hotel are incredibly accommodating to small children – including delivering cookies, bedtime stories and even having a little teepee in our bedroom. The pool area is lovely And the beach and the beach set up – recliners, staff, cold drinks et cetera is all superb. We thoroughly recommend.
