Disclaimer: I don't go here often, because it's usually so busy.
But, last night, I figured I'd try my luck at 5 p.m. Scored a seat at the bar. Place was nearly 100% packed. The 3 people working the floor (one of them, Leah, was also working the bar) were an efficient team, taking orders, delivering food and drinks, clearing tables, and just generally moving people through the Octave experience.
Deep fried pickles. Great. Hot pants burger. Amazing. Onion rings. To die for. Side salad, not incredible, but I used the extra burger juices on my plate to give it a boost. Fine glass of red wine. All of this was just fine.
The highlight of my evening, as an observant diner, was when Leah took a phone order. The place was packed, buzzing, moving...and she patiently explained everything to the person on the other end, what cheeses and toppings were available, where the beef came from, and more. Keep in mind, I was dining alone, so I had nothing better to do than to observe my surroundings.
I think that Leah was on the phone (which is at the bar, which is busy and loud) for at least 10 minutes, if not more. She didn't break a sweat. She didn't roll her eyes. She didn't sigh with exacerbation. She did her job and then some to help a pick up order customer. Her colleagues kept everything moving along while she was on the phone without breaking their stride.
Kudos to all the staff at this restaurant. I can see why you are ALWAYS busy!!
