As others have said, a beautiful beach with the sea on one side and a river on the other. Went today in the height of summer and, whilst it was very busy, it didn't feel over crowded as the beach is so big. However, we were there at low tide so much more beach space than when at high tide.
To the north there are rock pools with creatures to find - beach shoes would be very helpful as the layers of rock are hard on your feet.
The only negative is the lack of shade. You can hire a fixed umbrella and two sunbeds for €20 for the day or €15 for half a day. Apart from this the beach is completely exposed and everyone brings their own parasols. Because of this we stayed for less time than we would have liked. Otherwise it's a gorgeous beach with a wonderful combination of the safety of the river for children to play in and bigger waves on the beach for body boarders and surfers. Life guards are also present.
Before walking down onto the beach (which is quite steep and therefore not great for anyone with mobility issues) there are restaurants/shops to get drinks, food and usual items including sun cream.
Be warned though, parking is hard work and limited. If there are spaces on the roadside before the road drops down to the beach then definitely grab one. Would absolutely return to this beautiful place.
