Iconic amphitheater makes for a stunning venue. If you’re in Athens as a tourist book tickets to whatever is on here during your stay and go, you won’t regret it. Be wary of the steep steps to get to the seats, take your time and be careful. Sitting here amongst the crowd is a wonderful experience.

Majestic and unforgettable – a true masterpiece of ancient architecture The Odeon of Herodes Atticus is an absolute highlight when visiting Athens. Standing in this beautifully preserved ancient amphitheater is a truly humbling experience. The architectural details, the semi-circular seating, and the grand backdrop of the stone façade are simply breathtaking. It’s incredible to imagine the performances that once took place here – and even more amazing that the venue still hosts concerts and cultural events today. The views from the upper levels are spectacular, offering a panoramic glance over the city and surrounding hills. Whether you’re passionate about history, architecture, or just looking for an inspiring place to visit, this is a must-see. The combination of cultural richness and scenic beauty is unbeatable. Highly recommended – you’ll leave with goosebumps and a deep appreciation for ancient Greek civilization. (Photos included speak for themselves – this place is extraordinary!)

A stunning ancient amphitheatre located just beneath the Acropolis, which makes it truly one of a kind. I’ve been twice and both times were great experiences. The atmosphere is magical, especially as night falls and the stage lights up. However, the stone seating is extremely uncomfortable—after two hours or more it becomes quite hard to enjoy the show fully. Still, I’d definitely recommend the experience; it’s absolutely worth it.

First time experiencing this truly magical environment with Max Richter orchestra. The kiosks outside have some lovely recycled tote bags and T-shirts, commemorating the outing. The bars are all very crowded with long queues so I recommend that you bring your own bottle of water. Instructions says no heels 👠 only flats 🥿 and it makes perfect sense :-) They are a bit anal with the no phone recording, probably just to avoid the night flash, to inconvenience other’s experience, where it could just be stated no filming with a flash or other exposures …. Two parts, separated by a 20mins break. A must see and experience

We went to watch Athens State Orchestra as part of the Athens Epidaurus Festival (June and July) and wow what an experience! Every seat had a cushion, so I was less uncomfortable than expected on such a hard surface. It was so magical to watch old music with a full crowd of locals and fellow travellers, with the ancient Acropolis and ancient moon looking on 🌙 They were really efficient getting us in, and helping find your seat. As an English speaker, I'm very humbled by everyone I've met being able to help me outside of their native tongue 🙏 Definitely have a look to see if there are events on here, as you'll get a far more authentic experience of the site and how it was meant to be used :)

You can see the seating areas in the lower part of the Acropolis theater. The seats of the city's notables are in a certain way. There is a security wall between the seats and the area. There is a wall built to ensure safety during shows with dangerous animals. It is a magnificent theater in very good condition.

We went there to attend the concert with family. It was a magnificent atmosphere with excellent lighting. The seats were very tight space with no legroom but cushions were provided for extra comfort.

A beautiful amphitheater that is still used to this day from ancient times. While this is not accessible to view as part of the entrance fee for the Parthenon, one can still gaze down at wonder at the effort that went into its construction. It is amazing to see something so old still being able to be used to this day for the same purpose that it was built for.
