The beer was good. I'm a pale ale kinda gal and enjoyed one of their specials. The flatbreads were fantastic! I tried both. Enjoyed the non-vegetarian option better. Only minus- our server disappeared forever and was not the best. I'd come here definitely with different server. Prices reasonable and open late.

We were exhausted after a busy day of touring & shopping in Times Square, not to mention famished after wasting an hour trying to find a place to eat. After experiencing massive disappointment at 2 major American chains, we were so grateful to have stumbled across O’Donoghue’s, and with some time left to enjoy happy hour! I can not say enough good things about this place. The pub is beautifully designed and meticulously clean. The entire staff was so cheerful, attentive, and helpful – even during a super-busy dinner rush. We enjoyed some fabulous drinks and entrees. I have to mention that the salmon on my Caesar salad was cooked perfectly – which is a rare find – so huge kudos to the chef. We would absolutely love to visit again on our next trip. Thanks so much to everyone for such an enjoyable evening!

Google
O Donohue's is a great bar that serves the best beef stew I have ever tasted. The smell of great food and a warm Irish welcome on a cold, frosty evening is a welcome you just can't resist. This lovely establishment is an absolute must to visit & try the food & wines here.

Google
Amazing atmosphere. Great service. Yummy food and good portions. We even enjoyed the music!

Ciarán Gaffney

Google
Great atmosphere, staff that actually remembered us on a second visit and bar tenders you will end up having great conversations with! Great selection of drinks and food too.

Google
Dropped on for drinks. The first round was amazing, and second, not so much. Ordered pork sliders, and they didn't have much flavor and really fatty. The christmas decorations and overall atmosphere was magical. I'm not sure I would return.

Google
Great pub off Time Square, which truly reminded me of our visits to the pubs in Ireland. The front desk seated us promptly with our reservations, and our server came by right away. Typical pub food, but with a nice variety, which we had Crab Mushrooms, Salad with grilled chicken, and Fish and Chips. The crab mushrooms were excellent with lots of real crab, and the Fish and Chips were very well made with crisp texture and very little oil. And of course, Guinness on tap… Overall a great getaway to a friendly pub away from the crowds of Time Square. Tips for your visit: Make a reservation to ensure you have a table

Google
Drinks was amazing Young lady waiting on Us seldom checked on our table and had to ask to order and drinks, water. (Although they were busy) All the food was fantastic Love the Vibe.

Lynne R.

Yelp
I had made a reservation for three for 5:30 p.m. to ensure we had plenty of time to get to our 7:30 p.m. show five minutes away. Our table was not ready when we got there and still wasn't ready 45 minutes later. Luckily, a table for two opened up and the very nice hostess sat us there by turning the table longwise so we all could fit around it. We were supposed to be there for drinks only until our table opened up but when a table opened up they gave it to another party that had been waiting longer than us. Again, luckily another table for two opened and she pushed that one together with ours (unfortunately, inconveniencing the table next to us who had to have their tables moved down), but at least we could order dinner. I don't think our table ever opened up while we were there! The food itself was delicious. We had mozzarella sticks that were typical, but good. My daughter had the fish and chips and they looked great. My cousin had the herb roasted chicken that came with a huge mound of mashed potatoes and sauteed spinach. She gave me the dark meat and it was so good! I just ordered boneless chicken wings with BBQ sauce. I loved it! They didn't like their frozen drinks that weren't blended well, but the second round they liked, a beer and sparkling wine. I had two awesome cosmopolitans. Overall, a good experience but if I make a reservation, I expect to be seated on time. Maybe NYC restaurants don't operate like that and I'm spoiled by DC restaurants, but the hostess did a great job to make sure we got in.

Vivian G.

Yelp
We were the 1st ones in when it opened,& in about 15min the bar was full, in a half the tables were getting full. Good vibe here. I just came off of dry january so I ordered some cosmos, our bartender made them perfectly! Next thing we know the rugby game is on & things got a little loud, it was a cool experience! We snacked on boneless wings(yum) and vegy spring rolls with a great dipping sauce. Loved it here. On the list for definitely returning. Maybe I'll be drinking beer that day

Alyssa H.

Yelp
One of the more perfect Rubens I've had. The food and customer service was amazing. The venue was extremely loud, but they had live music and the bad was great. I will absolutely return to this spot right off of the main Time Square hub

Rishabh G.

Yelp
We went here on the Saturday before Christmas week, and the atmosphere was amazing--very festive with live music. The place was quite busy, but the server still managed to get a table for us. The service was also fairly quick. We ordered a Frozen Daiquiri and a French Martini, both of which were tasty but lacked the strength I prefer in my drinks. The food was delicious. We ordered boneless chicken wings and veggie spring rolls, both of which were quite good!

Walter T.

Yelp
First time here , we sat at the Long bar and ordered drinks and the appetizer sample platter! The chicken wings were a bit bland , not enough spice or seasoning to warrant the taste. The chicken tenders could used more seasoning on it ! Kinda taste like it was frozen before cooked. The mozzarella sticks were pretty much just! And the potatoe skins actually had the best texture cause the cheese wasn't as greasy! Overall all it's not a Greasy texture . So you WONT be a mess after you're done ! and the sauces are paired w/ the samples! Our bartender was pretty quick on our service there when we needed another drink ! This place is hugh , I would say if you need room to eat and sit down. You're at a good spot . But bring your money . It's not too cheap remember your in Times Square area after all!

Alice T.

Yelp
My husband and I just got to the pub and we were probably mistaken for someone else and thrown out by a bald man with blue eyes with no chance of even attempting to order or speak. Would never go back, there's no feeling welcome here. Would NEVER recommend it to anyone, so many other places around, don't bother.

Tiffany O.

Yelp
Came into O'Donoghue's after walking past and hearing live music. It was a Saturday night and shockingly we got seats right at the bar no wait. The bartenders with their Irish brogues were friendly and were comforting. They were joking with us and other customers but weren't being overly chatty. He also made a killer espresso martini which I was skeptical about ordering at a pub. I would recommend and visit again if I'm in the area.

Eric H.

Yelp
The pub has a warm and comfortable vibe. Our waitress was attentive to what we wanted and the fish and chips were amazing! This was my first time eating in NY and I couldn't have been more pleased. Can't wait to go back and would highly recommend.

Yelp
Definitely, that Irish pub you're looking for from the indoor ambience, to the beer selection to the food! My only gripe is no pitchers of beer! This pub has everything you're looking for trust me! Right at 44th St. and eighth Avenue Near Times Square, New York City! If you're looking for that spot to grab some beers in an incredibly lively atmosphere with a full gigantic Irish bar, and Irish food look no further! You will not be disappointed here. My son and I came here after a convention at the Javits center and we were looking to have multiple beers and lots of different tastes, we got it! They got all your classic, Irish beers like harp, Smithwick, and others, but they also have a selection of IPAs and every kind of beer!! Very good selection! Beers are served in a 16 ounce glass. I have to get this out-of-the-way I really wish they served beer in pictures. I know they make more money by making you buy it by the glass but it's a nice touch to be able to order a pitcher of beer in an Irish pub. It's part of the experience. So my search for that pub continues but this is definitely a must stop place if you're looking for an Irish pub near Times Square. But hey, the food was great! We got a Cuban sandwich, crabcakes, good old, gigantic nachos for an appetizer. The other thing is the seating here is very comfortable. I'm not gonna name the other pub we stopped at first, but the seating was not comfortable, and I knew this pub was nearby so we decided to leave and come here. Best decision I've made in a long time Highly recommended for an authentic Irish pub, near Times Square, look no further!

Yelp
Small place, just one floor and dark. Real candles were indicate. Great service, server was outstanding. The 12oz steak was sizzling and delicious. They allowed to sub the potatoes for salad and all was great tasting. The wings were tasty and the meat just gave off the bone very easily. Buffalo sauce had the right amount of spice!

David B.

Yelp
This bar was next to the hotel I stayed at, and after walking by it a few nights, I decided to stop in for a nightcap. Single, patron and sad at the front end of the bar. I waited for nearly 5 minutes. I watched the bartender at the back of the bar appeared to be gossiping with another employee. He finally came to me after I flagged him down. No greeting or anything . Didn't really feel welcome here at the bar. By this young gentleman tonight. Sad thing is my flight was canceled today and I was just a guy sitting at the end of the bar looking for a virtual hug to come across the counter. I'm stuck here for two more days until I can finally get home.Cheers.

Yelp
Great Irish establishment! Staff were friendly and attentive. The food was equally amazing. It is reminiscent of an Irish pub in Ireland. The owner was very gracious to us. We were a party of 9. The fish and chips were amazing. The Ruben was proportioned and balanced! Chips were cooked to perfection!

Shweta S.

Yelp
Beautiful Irish pub if you are looking for good food, quite place to eat and a nice Irish beer.

Eric C.

Yelp
Food was really good. Fish and chips were 4/5 star! The Beer was served Very cold...excellent!!! Server was friendly and efficient. Prices very decent. The atmosphere had a good pub feel, clean place. Bathroom was exceptional clean, for a public space!!! Worth a visit.

Luis H.

Yelp
It's a place with excellent atmosphere, cheap, good drinks, food and location, with live music

Jessica K.

Yelp
Decent prices for the area. We just got drinks, a frozen margarita for $12 and a Kentucky mule for $14. For this area I was expecting $16-22 each

Riley C.

Yelp
Decorated for Christmas so cute! Best buffalo sauce I've had on wings, chicken breaded and cooked to perfection. Delicious mozzarella sticks and yummy potato skins. Attentive waitress and manager roaming to check in on customers.

Kelly G.

Yelp
We were greeted immediately by very friendly staff, seated at a table towards the back, and the ambiance is festive, good music (not Christmas), and even better food! I order the OD Onion soup, (which I must say is the best I have ever had) and pork bbq sliders that were delicious. My friend Chrissie ordered the Rueben w/ steak fries and described it as "yummy". We are quite pleased with our brunch this fine Autumn day and would definitely return.

Beth E.

Yelp
We only stopped for a beer, but enjoyed our time here. The atmosphere is very much a NYC Irish pub. There were many beers on tap, as well as a big wine selection. I settled on a Stella Artois and it was served in a nice size glass. The server was friendly, but not intrusive. The place has an overall great feel and had many customers so I am guessing it's a good place to stop for food as well.

Greg E.

Yelp
Atmosphere - OK. Located just off of Times Square, the place has a neighborhood pub feel to it. It is very narrow, with a long bar (seating a dozen or so patrons, on the right when you enter and a bunch of small tables on the left side. The place is very dark. Service - Very Good. We had a couple of beers and the bartender was very attentive. Drinks - Very Good. There is a decent selection of beer on tap and bottles. Overall Value - Very Good. I like Irish pubs, and though this place is nothing special, the location and prices make the place a good value

L Minton R.

Yelp
Food expensive and lack of service to match. The cleanliness of the place was questionable (after using their restroom). Be careful as a visitor to NYC, rudeness prevails there amount the New York clientele If you need food in a hurry before a show, the place is OK, but not more.

Lorraine P.

Yelp
Amazing fish and chips!! Waiter was funny when he asked my husband if he wanted to wrap up his empty bowl of stew. Food was delicious. If I ever come back to New York, I will definitely eat here again!!

Jerry K.

Yelp
Came in looking for some Guinness stew. Got a seat at the bar and grabbed a beer and stew. Came out hot and tasty with big chunks of meat topped off with a scoop of mashed potatoes. Wish they were playing Irish music instead of the Bruno Mars collection.

Aidan P.

Yelp
Great Irish Music, okay beer, terrible service. Irish bartender refused to serve more water to our party of 4 simply because 3 refills was the limit. (Not a real policy). Bartender was not busy and singing to the songs that were being played Without actively doing his job properly.

Alana L.

Yelp
A little loud, but delicious penne vodka. Very reasonable prices for being in time square

Yelp
12/08/2021 Having to decide where to eat let alone what cuisine to eat in New York City is quite the feat for the faint of heart. I pretty much scrolled though a bevy of lists on Yelp along with what I have booked marked for this trip alone. Well, the ideal was to visit Carmine's to have Italian for dinner, and we were told to visit their sister restaurant (I don't remember its name). But anyways, O'Donoghues Pub was in my friends list as a lunch option and we happen to walk by it and thought; okay, we're having dinner here instead. When I think of Ireland, or Irish cuisine in general (well there's the pot of gold and dancing leprechaun that I'll think about), but no, I thought of food this time; and I really wanted bangers and mash! The Experience: true to the its Irish and pub roots; that is basically what I saw. It was dimly lit on the inside, and a tad loud with all the patrons. All of the seating are high stools and bar seating. The service and hostesses were so friendly in true Irish manner, with a touch of humor as well. It really brings me back to my time in Dublin. The Food: We started with fried calamari as an appetizer; and it was light and crisp. My bangers and mash was so delicious, and filling. My friend devoured her Atlantic salmon dish with asparagus and mashed potatoes in almost an instant. We each had a cocktail before ordering a round of Irish beer (Smithwicks - I think I have a new favorite beer). This was perhaps the easiest of meals during my visit to the Big Apple and I enjoyed it.

Bob M.

Yelp
Went here with my wife on Saturday evening to get some liquid refreshment before seeing a show at the Belasco. We found a table near the door and got a greyhound and a Smithwicks. I usually opt for a Guinness, but I felt a bit rebellious. I'm very disheartened by the fact that a pint is no longer a pint. I thought it was just a St. Patrick's Day thing, but it appears to be permanent. Anyway, we had a nice conversation with Helen and discovered that she is friends with one of our favorite butcher shop's owner in our local town. If your want a nice bar for a drink pre or post show, stop by here.

Ken N.

Yelp
I worked in Times Square for over 20 years - tried to avoid eating/drinking in the area. But, after a four year break I wanted to go back as a kind of tourist. Stopped in for a drink. A few hours later (and more than a few drinks later) I decided this spot would be my place to hang out when I go back to the City. Our food was great, the clientele were chill, and the bar staff were super friendly and attentive.

Matt N.

Yelp
Nice little pub that opens late in time Square. Kinda small, few medium size TV for sports. Bathroom it's not very clean.

Dan K.

Yelp
Good food and atmosphere right off the heart of Broadway! The corned beef in the Rueben was perfectly tender, and the sandwich was overly stuffed like other places you find in NYC (cmon, do you REALLY need a pound of meat in your sandwich? The ratio of ingredients is important!). I did find the rye breaded toasted, but slightly soft/soggy. I don't know if it was the corned beef or kraut doing it, or just waiting on the back to be delivered. Still was delicious to eat, and a great experience which we will come back for!

Julius D.

Yelp
It's no secret, I'm a fan of true Irish pubs. I love the ambience, the Irish lilt, the food and of course, the libations. I'm a native New Yorker and look forward to the rare times i can get back "home" as it were. I first found this place back in 2017, when my wife and I started making regular trips up north. Whenever we can make the trip, we inevitably find our way here...there isn't anything ultra-special about it (though the weekend live music is worthwhile if you like Irish); but the service is always top-notch, and that's saying something with the number of quality restaurants and bars in the Times Square area. I typically get a Jamie's neat (Jameson's Irish Whiskey for you neophytes) and a cool pour of Guinness (it isn't supposed to be served ice-cold), my wife will usually adopt the same if she's not fancying wine at the moment. We've only ever had a few things off the bar menu and have never had a complaint. I'll usually order potato leek soup w/a side of bacon or a shepherd's pie in such establishments, but I haven't had either here, yet. It is a typical shotgun bar arrangement- when you enter the front door, the restaurant and bar are set up like a long throw- you have a relatively narrow entry way with 2-top bar seating which leads to the bar, which is sited on the right- all the way to the staircase at the back of the restaurant, where there is additional seating. There's also more seating upstairs which is usually packed on live music nights. The bar takes up the right side, and there's more booths to the left, after which it opens out to booths and tables. It is a tight little setup that can get packed on weekend nights, mostly due to the live music and the close proximity to Times Square. It isn't the only Irish pub in the area, it just happens to be my favorite. I'm already looking forward to going back.

Bradley C.

Yelp
I had a great visit to this pub prior to a Broadway show at The Belasco Theatre. Good service, good food, good patrons and good booze. I love a great dive bar and this one I recommend and look forward to seeing again. Cheers!

Rena H.

Yelp
Always a great place to go before or after a show! Food, service and ambiance all 5 stars! Live music regularly with some of the great New York entertainers like Dave and Louise (The Diddley Idols).

Jerry M.

Yelp
The wife and I stopped by for a few drinks and where we met the best employees and bartenders we have come across in sometime. We are from Memphis and they treated us like fellow New Yorkers. The wife tried a few different drinks some fruity stuff I have no idea but she loved them all. We ordered the sampler platter because we didn't want to eat a lot in the heat. All the food was great.!! The drinks are a tad pricey but that's expected in the heart of Time Square so that wasn't an issue at all. Just something to keep in mind. I wish I could remember our bartenders name but they both rocked it. To the owner of the establishment I will say this. Keep those two guys forever and keep up the stellar work. Thanks for the great time. We will return soon !!

Kàren T.

Yelp
One of THE BEST Irish (or ANY) Pub in the City!!! Charming, Romantic, and SINCERE Bar Staff , Server's, and Chef's. The Authentic "REAL DEAL" Irish Pub that You'll bring Home MANY Great stories and Memory's!!! "Jersey Shore" Barry & Karen (not that bullshit show)

George I.

Yelp
Good pub food with some Irish and British classics. Fish and chips, bangers and mash were really good. Good wings and burgers too. Everything was reasonably priced. The bar is busy and the drinks were reasonable and spot on. No micro drinks in this place. Most important the staff was professional and attentive. The music was loud but really good and set a good vibe with college hoops, soccer and hockey on the screens. Times Square is like my least favorite place in Manhattan unless it's for the theater. So if you're in for a play or the sights you'll never go wrong here.

Leah S.

Yelp
My party decided to meet up at O'Donoghues Pub because we were looking for a convenient restaurant in the Times Square area with a large menu that would not totally empty out our wallets. O'Donoghues checked off every one of those boxes. Their menu is average but has something for everyone. The turkey club was hearty, but their French fries were tasteless (we recommend the sweet potato fries instead). The space was clean and the service was good. We were able to spend our entire Sunday afternoon there without feeling rushed. Pleasant atmosphere.

Jennifer H.

Yelp
Close to the theater. Great place to grab a bite and a beer. Food was great. It was crazy busy but service was good. Full blown Irish Pub experience.

Tim T.

Yelp
Over a decade on, every word, each syllable still has a sonorous ring of absolute truth. To Sue, Eddie, Orla, Helen, Joe and all the other members of the band past and present, and in no particular order of magnificence... It was a cold, brisk, astringent mid-winter evening in New York City. As the unforgiving wind took hold and the frigid temperature crept ever lower, a British gentleman in need of solace, sustenance and stay strolled down 44th St. Though he had frequented and patronised many bars in Manhattan over the years, warming many a bar stool along the way, a new light caught his eye this particular evening. 'O'Donoghue's Pub' is where we lay our scene. Having escaped the chill of the night, the warmth of this establishment was most welcoming. Pulling up a bar stool, it soon became evident that the true warmth, however, lay in the welcome afforded by the staff. After a convivial, cordial greeting, a swiftly presented beer and some endearing banter, this Brit knew , without hesitation or cause for amendment, that this was to be his home for the duration of his stay and indeed, a regular haunt on each subsequent visit. (As it turns out, dear reader, I later met my future wife at this very establishment, spent several years living in the city, and was able to make this the most venerated and prized place I have ever had the fortune to call my local) From the charming mahogany bar to the plethora of beers on offer; from the genial bar conversations to the piquant nourishment of the menu; from the unquestionably authentic welcome to the courtesy afforded by all who worked there...this was hospitality of the highest order. For the next six evenings, and oft a quick sojourn for luncheon, O' Donoghue's was his unrivaled establishment of choice. I urge those who may be trawling the unrelenting, invigorating, inspiring yet oft exhausting streets and avenues of this fair city, take pause. When that time comes, traverse to O'Donoghue's. May their earnest welcome sooth your weary soul, their appetizing food refuel your body and the intelligent, charming conversation of the staff be your company. Enjoy and remember, many will imitate but none will replicate. See you next time...

Estralda T.

Yelp
Nice hang with buddies spot in Midtown Manhattan. Kinda rolled up in here cause the place we wanted to go to was closed. Tables were nicely spread out, dim bar lighting and groovy music through the airwaves. Atmosphere very welcoming to any Joe Schmoe. Although most of the cocktails feature vodka, the bartender was willing to change the vodka to whisky. I had a delish cocktail, but the most I can remember and most def recommend... it's the first one on the list. My dinner was awesome. Pretty much the only non seafood item on the menu.. my go-to... steak, mash and veggies. Presentation gets 2 thumbs-up, but if I had another hand, the perfectly done medium well steak gets 3 thumbs-up! Nice evening. Not loud, not rambunctious... but nice.

Bill H.

Yelp
Service was excellent waitress was a sweetheart we had a great visit I would recommend this place they treated us great good drinks

Doug L.

Yelp
Let me start with the basics and then get into the issue we had I got a French onion soup. The broth was nice and the cheese good, the bread was mushy. But over I'd say 3.5 We are outside in one of the huts built on the street. Very nice Timing of service. Slow. It did not appear busy and it took a while to get the food Given just the food I would probably rate a 3. One in our party is vegetarian. They had a 44th burger in the menu which has beef+onion+bleu cheese+chorizo. She asked if she could get a veggie burger dressed like a 44th burger less the chorizo. The waiter said he understood the order. What came was a 44th st burger (beef) with a side of veggies (carrots and broccoli) instead of fries. It was clear someone down the chain didn't understand the order. We asked the waiter to fix it and he sent over the manager. She proceeded to lecture us and said 'if you wanted the veggie burger you should have ordered it, not the 44th st burger'. She should have asked us the problem and then responded. We tried to explain but she wasn't listening, but she did say she would remake. What we got was a regular veggie burger. As a manager you should ask the customer what is wrong, not just assume we didn't place the order correctly, which we did We will not be returning

John M.

Yelp
Good pub food. Our reservation was canceled at another restaurant so I decided on pub food. Had a steak with fries and an IPA. Was very good. Many quality beers on tap. The waitress was Irish and did a good job.

Zack V.

Yelp
It's right off of Times Square, so quite touristy. Service is good, although it took a while for us to be seated, as it seemed that no one noticed we were waiting for a table (nor did the waiters really acknowledge for the first 5 minutes). However, they have good, decent bar food, and good beer/cocktails option. The vibe is cool, chill, and a nice spot to rest up for the rest of your day in NYC.

Tim O.

Yelp
Lively atmosphere and traditional Irish menu options. Beef stew was excellent. Lots of beef and flavor was authentic. Fish and chips were just okay. Fish was good but chips were soggy and lacked flavor. Bartender could use a lesson on how to properly pour a pint of Guinness. I would go back but Rosie Dunn's is far better.

Jordan G.

Yelp
Went for lunch & the next day went back for dinner. The waitstaff is INCREDIBLE & the food is even better! Instantly a favorite & honestly one of the things I can't wait to get back to on my next trip!

C C.

Yelp
Stopped in here for a drink. The ambience was truly Irish and so was 1/2 the bar. The drinks were delicious. Everyone was very nice.

Karen Z.

Yelp
The drinks sucked... asked for a Hot Toddy and it was Hot terrible!!! But, this Shepard's Pie was so damn good!
