Over Easy Breakfast is one of the most popular restaurants in Calgary, and it is worth the hype! If you love eggs benedict, poutine, or have a sweet tooth, this is the perfect place for you. There are multiple locations in Calgary, but make sure you put your name on the waitlist since it can get pretty busy here. Some dish recommendations: - Lobster and Shrimp Crepe - Soul in a Bowl - Ahi Tuna Burger - Gnocchi Breakfast Carbonara - Belgium Waffle

One of the best breakfasts in town! The food is always fresh, creative, and absolutely delicious! What truly makes the experience even better is the outstanding service. Matt went above and beyond to ensure everything was perfect, making us feel welcome and well taken care of. His friendly attitude, attention to detail, and great recommendations made our visit even more enjoyable. Highly recommend!!

We went to OEB for our early Mother's Day brunch, and everything about the experience was just perfect. From the moment we walked in, the service was outstanding—especially the twin servers who were so kind, cheerful, and genuinely attentive. They made us feel really welcome and taken care of. The food was absolutely amazing. We ordered coffee, and it was rich and smooth—just what we needed to start the meal. The burger was juicy and flavorful, and the banana pudding was such a delightful surprise—sweet, creamy, and comforting. The smoked salmon benny was probably my favorite; the eggs were perfectly poached, and the hollandaise had just the right touch of tang. Honestly, every single item we ordered was spot on. It was such a lovely way to celebrate Mother's Day, and I couldn’t have asked for a better place to enjoy it. OEB truly made it special, and we’ll definitely be back again!

This is first visit for this location. It was too busy there and so had to wait for a while. Luckily my friend signed up for the wait list, it did not take too long. As experienced, all dishes were very delicious in a good portion. Staff was very nice and friendly, and my friends and I had great brunch/lunch here :) I definitely recommend this place for anyone looking for nice & yummy brunch !

Having dined at a couple of OEB locations in the city, this one in University District definitely serves better food. The male host, who I believe may have been the manager, could have been more friendly but our server was pretty nice. We came for lunch just after 1pm and was seated within 10 minutes without a reservation. The dining area isn't too big, so it can feel like you're quite close to the tables next to you. What caught our eye and made us want to try out OEB is their beef tallow fried potatoes - a much better alternative to seed oils. I opted for the Gold Digga poutine bowl and he chose the Montreal smoked meat benny. I couldn't help but notice how aesthetically pleasing the plating was when our food came. The large potato wedges were fried to a perfect golden brown and there was a generous amount of sauce and cheese curds in the breakfast poutine. It could have used a few more pieces of pork to balance out the abundance of potatoes though, which felt a bit heavy half way through. He enjoyed his benny but noted the croissant was a little on the small side. Overall, it's a place I'd recommend for a nice breakfast, brunch, or lunch.

Had a lovely breakfast here the other day! Food was great. My breakfast poutine was Insanely good . No issues with the service and the food came out relatively fast! Definitely recommend coming here! Will be back

Google
We had such an amazing brunch today! The service was incredible, the food came out so quickly, and everything was 10/10. We also got to try the new apple pancakes they just added to the menu, sooo delicious. I can’t wait to return. Truly the best brunch spot in Calgary. Thank you for an amazing experience.

Google
Seven people went to the place to celebrate Mother’s Day. Four of us got waffle fries and it was overcooked and cold. Everyone didn’t like the fries. Very disappointed.

Google
Food tastes good! Atmosphere- busy when we dined but its yo be expected. Service- crew was very welcoming and accommodating.

Yelp
Weekends are VERY BUSY Call ahead to join wait list Scramlette/omelette was delicious Great service too. Friendly and fast

Yelp
Great food. Great & quick service. It's our number one breakfast spot in the city. The Benedict's are unreal

Yelp
Enjoyed breakfast here on a weekend in April with family . Very busy on a Saturday around noon and had to wait about half hour . We ordered salmon eggs Benedict and a burger meal . The eggs Benny was good but I wish it coulda included some sliced fruit on the platter . I had this dish long ago at the Edmonton trail place & it had fruit as well . I was a bit disappointed this order didn't ... and it felt kinda skimpy . Don't know if I would come back

Yelp
Service was quick once you get seated and food came out in less than 10 minutes. Our order was correct and portion sizes were fair for the price. The lines are long on the weekend but the virtual line up feature helps a lot. The ambience is lively and energetic, but it may be difficult to have a quiet conversation if that is what you're after.

Yelp
Very good breakfast/brunch food, their potatoes are amazing. The breakfast poutines and the eggs benny are my favourites!

Yelp
We were in Calgary on our way to Banff and stopped off at OEB for a weekday brunch. It was fantastic. The service was great and the food was outstanding. The only thing that could have been better would be the iced tea. We are used of black tea but this tea was very lemony. I think that might just be a local thing though. We had the classic breakfast which was delicious and filling. The avocado toast was great and had a little Mediterranean flair. Overall, it was a great choice!

Garry W.

Yelp
A favorite dish. Done better than anywhere else and within walking distance. Busy, every day.

Gabridli L.

Yelp
Excellent food. Mediocre service. Long wait. High price. Read the other reviews. They get it right.

Ben C.

Yelp
Had the lobster hash. Loved it. The coffee was another story. Think of it like pop that had gone flat.... And was filtered through a wet sock. That might be a little generous. Service was good. Great location. Wait was minimal. We will go back, but we'll skip the coffee.

Kelsey B.

Yelp
Service was prompt but the food quality could be better. The fruit didn't taste very fresh, my eggs were overcooked and the potatoes weren't crispy.

Naylil M.

Yelp
Average food and services but expensive. Nothing special about the ambiance of this location. There are other better breakfast places in Calgary and I would not recommend going to this franchise restaurant unless you have no other choices.

Karen S.

Yelp
Food was okey..But...the server was pouting and appeared not even willing to serve us:((.She never offered for any coffee refill and had to request for water. We've been in this Resto many times and this was a noticeable experience comparable to our previous ones. The server was friendlier serving other clients who are of her same color(we are Asians).Coffee tasted bland not as good as before..did she serve us Decaf instead of Regular coffee?.

Gwendolyn S.

Yelp
We ordered breakfast from them (after a really brutal morning) and it was dismal. The burrito was nothing- maybe 2 scrambled eggs and tomato and onion- crap I could've made with little effort, the crepe had barely any filling (I've seen it ordered onsite and it looked amazing-)this had some banana, berries and a scant amount of crème patisserie- so dissatisfied- there are so many other breakfast places in Calgary that take pride in their product- this place was not one of them.

Yelp
There is no place worth an hour wait. I gave up after waiting 45 minutes. Go the down the street to the Borough, awesome Food and great service. No wait.

Jen H.

Yelp
OEB has always been a family favorite. Try soul in a bowl with spinach. Life changing! Yum!

Yelp
I would consider going elsewhere for breakfast. We went for breakfast Saturday morning. Upon arrival, they sat us close to the door and it was really cold. We asked to be moved as our kids were getting cold, they told us no even tho the extra room they have was empty. They told us it opens at 9am however they started sitting people there at 830. Food was ok, service can be better.

Frances C.

Yelp
Good food, good service. Love the blueberry sausage. Busier than I expected at lunch whereas it's a breakfast place so plan ahead.
google avatar

Yelp
Convenient no-wait on weekdays and free 2-hr retail parking in the burgeoning new U-District, OEB's latest expansion hits the spot! Well-staffed and lively modern decor complete with a diverse and hilariously-written menu. My Get Shorty Rib Poutine was a delicious hefty serving of beef brisket chunks and perfect poached eggs, I doused it in Franks hot sauce and loved it. Sis got the meat-less to say poutine and added bacon because of course. Blueberry chicken bangers (chubby sausages) were quite bland but juicy and a nice side. Never thought I'd get the chance to try OEB considering the 2 hour wait for the one in Vancouver-- come to find it's been in Calgary 10+ years with multiple locations! I'll be back.
google avatar

Simon K.

Yelp
The wait on a weekend is not worth it, especially during the winter when waiting outside can be challenging. If I am in the area again on weekdays, I will for sure consider eating here. However, I am not going out of my way to eat here on the weekend. The food itself is decent but there are just so many good breakfast/brunch places around nowadays that you don't really need to seek out an OEB. My neighbourhood breakfast place is just as good as OEB with better pricing and shorter wait time to get a table.

Dawn K.

Yelp
We had reservations but were sat in their heated patio area. The heat was blasting down the whole time. Food was tasty including my pineapple mimosa. Service was ok, nothing outstanding, it felt a bit rushed.

Simon D.

Yelp
I love OEB but this location is awful. Service was terrible, food was cold on arrival, a fire alarm went off for around 20 minutes while we were there, the server we had was scattered and forgetful and honestly this room could be way better managed with some better oversight! The manager/supervisor was totally absent even after I talked to the server about the poor service he'd provided there was no remedy offered. I am a hospitality industry professional and this was the second time that I have been to this location and will honestly not return to it after this latest fiasco!

Venisse W.

Yelp
Perfect brunch place with an amazing "Do Not Even Go There" crepe for the sweet tooth! Not too sweet and not too heavy with the right amount of fresh fruits inside! Patio is great for a sunny day out to chat with friends and have great food
google avatar

Chris J.

Yelp
Happy had a rez, place was packed. Food was good, prompt service. Couldn't help but feel rushed, would go back, but not on a weekend.
google avatar

Lynette P.

Yelp
Everything is good here! You won't be disappointed! Specially seafood crepe which is my favourite!

Leigh S.

Yelp
Great brunch spot for a quick breakfast. Good service too. I found the ambiance a little hectic and busy.

Jennifer A.

Yelp
I heard a lot of hype about this place and got curious seeing their always packed and had to cancel my visit twice because of the long wait. But honestly speaking, I feel like it's overrated. Overpriced for the quality of the food. I seriously enjoyed my granddaughter's plain pancakes more than what I ordered. I enjoyed our time there but I don't think I would come back anytime soon.
google avatar

Maria S.

Yelp
I make a reservation today and it was canceled without informing me and I arrived with my 2 kids and the host told me that she will put me back in the list and that I will be first then 10 minutes later she said that I will have to wait 25 minutes! This is a lack of respect with clients and obviously this girl that is managing the wait list la k experience and she is careless about dissatisfied clients.

Carmen S.

Yelp
You are quickly greeted as soon as you sit down. The food came out very fast and what I expected - delicious! They're a very efficient, we were in and out within 45 minutes. Couple of hot tips before you go to any OEB: I love using the Yelp app to help "wait in line", and the timing is usually very close to what they post there! AND they sell gift cards at Costco so you can get a $100 value for $80!
google avatar

Albert B.

Yelp
One of the best brunch places in the northwest. Unfortunately they are wildly disorganized when it comes to seating people and flipping tables. We regularly watch people get seated ahead of us when we checked in first, their wait-list barely works, and much of the patio seating is unpleasant due to glare from the sun. The food really is great, though.

Anthony F.

Yelp
Very poor experience me and fiancé had today. First, we ordered our drinks after waiting 10 mins at the table, I ordered a orange juice and my fiancé ordered a smoothie Plus coffees. We did not get our drinks until after our food came and then they came in "to go" cups after asking where the drinks were twice. Second I had ordered my meal with a extra egg and when my order came out no one seemed to know about the extra egg, I had to then wait 5 more minutes for a egg that was then brought to the wrong table, when I finally got my extra egg it came completely unseasoned in a Dish, which is unfortunate maybe could have came with the hollandaise sauce my meal originally had on it or some kind of seasoning period. Last thing the service was all in all terrible, we never got offered a coffee refill, when the coffee cream was brought to the table it was a empty carafe. On other notes the food was good as always hats off the the staff in back of house, front of house needs help, very disappointing as this was one of our new favourite breakfast places.

Tony T.

Yelp
Just left restaurant. Was seated with menus by host. Sat for 15 mins. No server, no greeting, no coffee. In a restaurant less than 30% full. 8-10 servers walking around restaurant.

Tavish B.

Yelp
Packed place on a Sunday but the service was kind and the food was great. Just a little cold out on the enclosed patio.

Chiara B.

Yelp
I have been here at least 3 times because the food is good. The service just ruins the whole experience here. It's just the worst

Oxy F.

Yelp
Beyond frustrating. Join the wait list they ask you to come at a certain time to tell you that there are 80 people in front of you. Nice

Brandon S.

Yelp
Service was terrible. Server was dismissive and rude, didn't get our food right, and our table wasn't properly set. Asked for sugar when I got coffee and never got it even when I asked for it a couple of times, had to borrow from another table. Any other OEB location is better than this one, and it's not a high bar.

Bruce T.

Yelp
Late Brunch was a lovely time, fair amount of room between tables kept the noise down. Food was good, filling and loved the potatoes. Soft poached eggs were a bit too soft but not a showstopper. Service was about right, with coffee top ups keeping it hot.

Dylan W.

Yelp
Super excited to have this location opening. Right beside my university! I loved the 4th street and mission location OEB as well as I live right beside it and would always go for breakfast and brunch there. Now i can enjoy it on a weekday as well in between classes. Love OEB and the food super excited for this restaurant! Everyone should check it out opening day :)

Gary L.

Yelp
Very disappointed, been coming to OEB for years, usually the Bridgeland location. I was so excited when they opened location at University City as it was closer to home. But it's not the same, service is so bad however food is good. This morning was the last straw, we got seated right away then the wait started, the worst part was we were right by the hostess station, there were 3 young girls standing there talking to each other. Finally we asked if we could get some service, they looked at each other clueless on what to do, never saying a word to us. They spotted a waitress coming and I could see them visually relax, still not saying a word. But the waitress walked right by and went to the table of people that came in after us. We got up and left, out the door I spotted the manager and went back in and told him what happened. No reaction, no apology, nothing just a blank look. Finally he said do you want to still eat here? I said no you have just lost a customer, again no reaction. So sad, I really like their food. We drove to oeb in bridgeland and had an excellant experience. So mad now I have to drive 30 minutes extra to bridgeland

Heather D.

Yelp
I took my family there for fathers day this past Sunday. We showed up at 830am and there were plenty of tables available. I would say the restaurant was only 30percent filled. We were told to sign up on the waiting list even tho the restaurant was not filled. So I did. It told me I had 117-124 min wait. Which is thought was insane. Again the restaurant was empty. They were holding takes for people who were no ot even there j stead of serving the people actually physically waiting outside. By the time we got in was 11am 2.5 hour wait with two small children. I have never heard of using a waitlist before the restaurant was full. This disorganized and the manager should have come in to fix it. Noone apologized for the mess up, it still was not full at 11am when we got our table. I counted at least 6 open tables including the family table that sits over 10 people. Which in the 2.5 hours we waited never had any customers sitting at it and the bar was almost always open. Worst experience I have ever had at a restaurant. Yelp waitlist is horrible please go back to normal pen and paper waiting list. It should always be first come first serve. Not sign in at your home and sit there and wait until its your turn and drive from god knows where while other people are waiting hours. Terrible business decision.

Yelp
The original OEB on Edmonton Trail in Calgary was to my knowledge one of the first up-scale breakfast places in Calgary. Since then there are now franchise locations in several western Canadian locations and the USA. The newest one in Calgary is the one in the University District west of U of C. The food remains good, but like everything else these days the prices are higher. Although they had been open only 4 days the restaurant appears to be well run and although busy on a Wednesday morning, was not full. I am sure this location will be a busy restaurant since few other good breakfast places are in the area. As I said, it is good but expensive, which will limit my visits for purely monetary reasons.
