On the Grid : Of Love & Regret

"When you walk into Of Love & Regret, you're immediately struck with their "old world meets new world" aesthetic - luscious dark woods, exposed brick, and found objects decorate the place. This cozy gastropub is an appealing date spot for foodies, and their full bar includes an extensive beer list, craft brews, and even sparkling wine on tap. Home of Stillwater Artisanal Beers, Of Love & Regret also has great vegetarian options for non-meat eaters. Photo credit: Maura Asteria" - Limonata Creative

We've loved this place ever since the first time we opened the door. The bar is MAGNIFICENT! A classic beauty in a warm and inviting atmosphere. Lots of nice sitting spaces and charming appointments. Low music and style fit the couples and friends that gather. The staff is supremely engaging, warm and inviting of you to their place. Great cocktails and excellent craft beers on tap. We started with fried green tomatoes this night and they were awesome. Tried the Alabama Slamma Chicken - something I've never seen on another MD menu - and it was delicious. We always have a great visit here. Thank you oLaR!

Incredible, always. We have the best time here every time. Today for brunch (chicken & waffles and breakfast burrito) but other times for happy hour and dinner. We love this spot. The cocktails are creative and fun, the bar is great, and the food tastes delicious!

Phenomenal!! This is my new favorite place in Baltimore! My friends took me here for my birthday, yesterday. Everything on the menu looked amazing, so we ordered nearly every appetizer and a couple of entrees to split. First, the drinks. Wonderful cocktail menu. The drinks are crafted by the owner herself and you can tell how much she loves her job. Even the plain dirty martinis we ordered felt like they received just as much attention and effort as the house offerings. Next, the food! Everything was SO good! Way, way beyond our expectations. I particularly recommend the chicken bulgogi lettuce wraps and the pad Thai. Finally, service and atmosphere. We were hosted by Sarah, who hasn't been there long, but did a wonderful job taking care of us. She was attentive, bubbly, and patiently answered all of our questions. The space itself is very welcoming and comfortable, with lovely interior design. We can't wait to come back! Thank you!

Came for Mother's Day and they made it so wonderful and special. Beautiful, charming surrounds and pleasant, friendly staff. All of the food was delicious and made with care. Thank you for making the day even more fantastic for my mom!

While the initial impression of thia restaurant's first floor was less than ideal, the upstairs revealed a pleasant surprise. The dimly lit and musty ground floor was a stark contrast to the beautifully appointed second floor. The food was commendable, making it a great choice for our team's happy hour. The atmosphere upstairs was inviting and perfect for socializing. It's clear why the restaurant was recommended by someone who had previously dined there. There is Parking available for $1/hr opposite to the restaurant. I have a pic posted in my review.

Google
Loved the ambiance, the food and the drinks. This isn’t a place to bring the kids which I was grateful for. Had a girls night and sat at the bar which in itself was a nice production with the bartender making the different drinks. I got the Nice Spice which I loved due to the spiciness but it also was smooth. The bulgogi lettuce wraps and spicy shrimp were good. I ordered the Cowboy burger and the brown sugar coat on the burger with the egg and onions was chefs kiss! The fries were good as well. Make sure to ask about the homemade hot sauce, they have 3 kinds and the pineapple based one was my favorite. This is definitely going to be a repeat spot with friends.

Everyone likes this place and sorry but I don’t get it. It’s fine? We sat outside and the waiter seemed to forget about us a couple of times. He also forgot our orders and had to check again. Then, they didn’t have the side I ordered so he brought a different one out and asked if that was okay as it was already prepared in his hand. Idk. The drink was fine and food was fine.

Google
😍Yup, you guessed it! Incredible experience! Great food, Great drinks, Great atmosphere! You’ll love it! Bar area, indoor seating, outdoor seating, and a large group space on the second floor. We will definitely 👍🏽 be back.

Yelp
Of Love & Regret is one my favorite places in Baltimore. I love the name. The staff is so warm and friendly and service is always great. I've been once for drinks and apps, once for dinner, and most recently for brunch. I've truly liked everything I've had. Both the food and drinks are delicious. My favorite meal so far was the steak tips with mac and cheese and broccoli. The steak was tender and delicious. The mac and cheese was on point and the broccoli was the perfect accompaniment. It's hard for me to choose a favorite drink, but they do a really nice old-fashioned here, and even though Midnight Sky is really fun, I'm a whiskey girl through and through. I love the vibes. It's very charming and welcoming. If I lived nearby, it would be my neighborhood bar. I always look forward to returning.

Yelp
We love OLAR for date night, a dinner with friends, or just sitting at the bar. The cocktails are always amazing and unique. They have a huge selection of spirits that you can try. The food is delicious, especially the burgers!!! The fig burger Happy hour is until 6:30 and has a variety of cocktails, beer, wine, and apps! Definitely worth it, especially since the entrees (besides sandwiches) are usually north of $25 but everything I've gotten here is great. The owner Eli (hope I'm spelling right!) is awesome and every staff member we've interacted with is knowledgeable and friendly. This is our go to spot and should be yours too!

Yelp
Of Love & Regret is the ultimate neighborhood gem. It doesn't disappoint any time, day, or season you visit. The ambiance is always on point, from festive holiday twinkle lights to warm summer outdoor benches. The staff is friendly, helpful, and attentive. You always feel welcomed. The happy hour menu has great beverage and food selections. They always have great wines available but also interesting cocktails like the smoky manhattan--literally smoky. The beer-battered mushrooms are lightly fried and taste like well-seasoned calamari. The sliders come in a few different flavor options and are perfectly sized to sample each. Beware the Nashville has punchy spice! The flatbreads were a little plain but still a nice option for the table. The fried shrimp was crispy and complemented nicely by roasted corn kernels. The restaurant also has a nook with a curated selection of wine, beer, and spirits. I checked out one of their featured red wines and it did not disappoint. You can trust their taste. OLAR has definitely entered into our rotation as a regular spot and we can't recommend it highly enough!

Yelp
I ate for brunch there when they opened on a Sunday morning. I ordered the Chicken and Waffles. The chicken was slightly burnt and the liquid-y, spicy sauce overpowering the chicken. The waffles were also covered in a crispy sugar crust along with the sweet syrup. It was too much sugar and it also overpowered the taste of the waffles. The service was eh, even with only 4 of us and one other dining party of 2 in the entire restaurant. Now the bathrooms...oh boy. The sink was wet (I was the first person in the bathroom when they opened) and the trash bin was overflowing with dirty paper towels from the night before. Ew. So, needless to say, I'm not going back there for brunch.

Yelp
A nice happy hour spot in Canton! My friend and I decided to come check this place out on a rainy Friday evening for happy hour, which they offer Tuesday through Friday from 4:00pm to 6:30pm. This place had a speakeasy vibe, and we ended up grabbing a seat at the bar. They specialize in handcrafted cocktails, and even offer some of their specialty cocktails on happy hour along with glasses of wine. I ordered the Mar Mar Margarita which was really good and not too sweet. My friend had ordered the NOW POWER, which was also on happy hour and she really enjoyed her drink. The drinks did take some time to prepare, but I expected it with how much they put into their craft drinks. They also offer some food on happy hour as well. I got the Nashville chicken sliders which were pretty spicy but really good and the chicken was juicy and flavorful. I also ordered a side of their wedge fries, which I'm not sure if they were forgotten about at first because they didn't come out till about 5-10 min after my sliders had, but they were nice and crispy and the dipping sauce served with it was amazing.

Yelp
Recently came in with a group of friends for drag brunch! One of the standout features of our visit was the bottomless mimosas. The staff at Of Love and Regret went above and beyond to ensure our glasses were always full, allowing us to truly indulge in the brunch spirit! Now, let's talk about the food. I opted for the pancakes with breakfast potatoes and fruit, and while it wasn't the most exceptional dish I've ever had, it certainly satisfied my cravings. Though it may not have been a mind-blowing culinary experience, it was a solid choice for brunch fare. The ambiance of Of Love and Regret deserves special mention. The venue was covered with charming decorations that exuded a sense of springtime cheer. The hanging flowers added a whimsical touch, creating a visually appealing backdrop! The highlight of our visit, however, was undoubtedly the drag performances. The talented performers showcased their artistry and entertained the crowd with their captivating acts. The energy in the room was infectious, and we couldn't help but be swept away by the lively and exuberant atmosphere. The combination of delicious food, bottomless mimosas, and fantastic entertainment truly made this a great experience!

Yelp
OLAR has been one of my favorite spots in Baltimore for years. It is very spacious for a Baltimore Canton/Brewer hill area converted townhome restaurant. I think they converted more than one townhome, or it was an end of block apartment building that they converted. Regardless, it is much larger on the inside than it looks from the outside. They have a full bar with wonderful and unique craft cocktails. I highly recommend you try something new every time you go. The food is delicious and well prepared. On our most recent trip, we had the fig Crostini, which was delicious albeit a bit messy. We also had the portobello mushroom cap, which, unfortunately, was not as well balanced. It was not poorly prepared, it just felt a little bland and flat for us. We also tried the petite fillet, which was a small portion size as expected and went well with our small plates approach to dinner. Finally, we tried the Maryland crabcakes. These were well seasoned and decently prepared, but personally, I like to have more crab meat and less filler, even if it means a smaller crabcake. I would suggest getting rid of most of the filler, and simply serving the same amount of crab meat in a smaller crabcake size. Last night they had a burlesque show in the upstairs bar area, which was very enjoyable, and a unique experience. Not sure how often they have those types of events, but I would absolutely go back for another live entertainment event there.

Yelp
I came here for the first time for a large group dinner reserved for about 12-14 people on a Thursday night. Ambiance: We sat in the upstairs area at a large wooden table covered in very nice decorations, supposedly for a wedding that was going to happen. It was a quiet and private area, and overall a cozy vibe. Service: Very attentive and friendly service, really great about answering questions for both the food and the drinks. We had told it was for a meeting/dinner so they were kind enough to provide some pens and notecards, too, which was a thoughtful touch. Food: -Artichoke appetizer: Overall pretty tasty, served with a savory sauce. -Veggie pad thai: While this was an Asian noodle dish, it definitely wasn't a pad thai. The noodle choice was japchae (korean sweet potato glassy noodles), which was an interesting choice. Overall, dish is on the sweeter side. Veggies were well cooked, sauce was decent. A decent noodle dish, but not exactly what I was looking for. Others had the veggie beet burger which was also okay. -Cocktails: They have a very extensive drinks menu and multiple people at the table enjoyed a wide range of drinks, which were all excellent. Overall, I think this would be a great place to come for happy hour with drinks and maybe some appetizers, but not necessarily a place I would return for dinner.

Yelp
Ellie and her team are absolutely amazing! I couldn't have asked for a better location for my baby shower! The food, service, cocktails, mock tails and decor were absolutely perfect! I can't recommend this place enough for your next event! Ellie was such a joy to work with. She was so responsive whenever I had any questions and took so much stress off hosting an event! All of my guests couldn't stop raving about how amazing the shower was and Ellie and her team were to thank for that! Thank you so much! I can't wait to come back soon!

Yelp
Drinks and HH Sriracha shrimp were delicious. The craft cocktails were interesting and the HH options were vast. This is a great place to meet friends and have a drink or two.
google avatar

Lawry F.

Yelp
The first floor has a long bar, a few standard height tables and some high tops. We didn't go upstairs. The decor was very pleasant--1920s kind of feel. The menu has a lot of selections and each of us enjoyed what we got and would recommend any of these: bolognese, burger, lettuce wraps, viet meatball salad, pierogis. Wait and bar staff are friendly and hard working. It wasn't busy when we went (early Sunday evening).

Yelp
Stellar! Signature drink and concurrent food makes this place a find and a guilty pleasure... yum! Come join me here. Chuck

Yelp
We went for happy hour on a Tuesday and had the best service. Jameson was fantastic and made great suggestions for drinks and food. The special burger was so good and the old bay aioli with the fries was amazing. The bar dog was also a huge plus!

Yelp
Oh, my! I'm at the WTMD First Thursday fest, when I feel myself a little peckish, you might say. I come upon a food vendor called "Of Love and Regret." Great name; gotta try it. I opted for the pulled pork sandwich, served with a side of chips and thankfully, two napkins. Without trying to sound like a food writer, let me say, they knocked it out if the park. NOT SWEET! It is possible! The pork was a savory delight. The cole slaw it shared the bun with was peppery and zingy! NOT SWEET! Loved it! And the chips on the side were fresh and zingy as well. And those two napkins were sure appreciated. Keep up the good work.

Yelp
I can't believe we've lived in the area for 5 years and barely tried OLAR. The interior is incredibly cozy and romantic unlike many of the dingy row home restaurants around Canton. We started with complimentary cranberry infused water served in cute little glass bottles. The battered mushrooms and burrata as apps were very solid. Hubby's smash burger was also perfect however the crab cake and tavern burger with fig and goat cheese missed the mark. The former barely had any crab in it and the latter was greatly overpowered by the fig jam. Admittedly, tavern burgers are really hard to get right. This patty was too thick and round and resembled more of a meatball. Overall, we really enjoyed ourselves and will be back!

Yelp
Very cute establishment with indoor and outdoor seating. Great decor inside! I've visited OLAR a few times for both happy hour and dinner. The entire menu is fantastic. The food is definitely on the pricier side (somewhere between $$ and $$$) but is worth the money. They have a great selection of burgers and entrees. I most recently visited on a Tuesday night which is burger night. They had a special burger with maple glaze and bacon jam -- DELICIOUS! They also have a really extensive cocktail menu with an entire section for craft gin and tonics. Finally, I have always been very impressed with how kind and accommodating the staff is. Needless to say, OLAR is a place I'll keep returning to!

Yelp
I was so excited to try Of Love and Regret for a happy hour! Okay so the corn dip I had was DELICIOUS - I have been thinking about it since nonstop! And the drinks were also very nice. However, the pricing for the drinks was a bit much for the size of the drinks. They were pretty small, but with standard pricing. Overall, I'm looking forward to coming back and trying more:)

Yelp
Super cute bar / restaurant- went for brunch..many great options. The servers were perfect, the drinks well constructed and the food well prepared. Seating was cozy and the atmosphere was warm. Enjoyed the meal!

Yelp
I was in the neighborhood after a long day of running around and decided to give Of Love & Regret a visit. It was around 4pm so I knew I could get in on some Happy Hour deals! When I arrived, the place was pretty quiet and staff was still completing their side work in preparation for the evening rush. I was the only person in there and felt a little bad I was disrupting their workflow but everyone was super nice and friendly. I ordered a cocktail of my choice which is the first option on the Happy Hour cocktail menu. Choose a spirit of your liking and a mixer for $5. I got whiskey and ginger beer. Whew! This drink was strrrrong. Well worth the $5. I also ordered the pretzel with dipping sauces which was also on the Happy Hour menu. I was a little surprised when the pretzel came out because it wasn't actually a pretzel. It was more like bread with cheese and mustard dipping sauces. It was pretty good but definitely not a pretzel (as you can see from the pic, it doesn't even really look like a pretzel, kinda strange). I wouldn't order that again. Either way, I was happy with the service and was satisfied with the prices. I think this is definitely more of a spot for late night drinking rather than food.
google avatar

Alex F.

Yelp
I'm going to try to be as objective as possible. There are some great items on the menu and this is probably a great spot for cocktails/ brunch. However, the service is not great. Went here twice and both times was disappointed by lack of professionalism and knowledge. Seemed as if both people were in another world. What we ate: 1) lettuce wraps : delicious and overpriced. 2) burgers and chicken sandwich: dry chicken and stale buns. Don't charge $18 for a sandwich if you can't cook it well. Also menu was incorrect both time i went. Entrees came out with different ingredients than what was on menu. 1) red onion on smash burger was listed on menu, but came out caramelized. 2) fried onion of the Alabama slamma was listed on menu, but comes out raw. This place blows. Sorry.

Yelp
No offense OLAR : suchhhhhh a surprisingly amazing experience. We were so lucky to have Jameson as our server and he made it the worlds best experience and the cocktails were great but the food really blew us away. I'll tell you why I did 4/5. 100% because we were hot (while yes it's the summertime)- most places are old in Baltimore and have trouble with AC but why can't they figure it out like everyone else...?!?! We will go back when we're sure it's cool enough to Sit outside My husband had ribs that were so good but I can't tell a lie they were just a pinch on the smaller size in terms of portion. But prep wise they were so good! && I'm not vegetarian, but was for a long time- I got the veggie burger and it was the best I've ever had in the city. Keep up the good work OLAR! Finally we tried their shot/dessert and I don't even know how to explain it. We'll be back for more of those as well for sure.

Yelp
After the lantern parade, it was a game of 'beat the clock' because the kitchen closed at 10. There was a parking spot, I grabbed it, and walked in. First things first, I ordered a much needed dark beer. I then tried to get my head around the idea of a $32 pad thai (!!), but 2 sips later, I ordered the sabrosa burger with extra aioli. It was 9:20. It came out quickly. The wedge fries were phenomenal and more so with the aioli. The burger was good and cooked perfectly. The bun, however, was waaay too delicate for the beef and quickly fell apart. While that made for wolfing down the burger, it also guaranteed that I got out at 10 at which point like culinary Cinderella, the bar shut down and tables set for the next day.
google avatar

Miranda T.

Yelp
The food and drinks are very good. The reason I give 4 stars rather than 5 is that the food is a little pricey. The last time we went, food took awhile to come out. Overall, we really like OLAR and continue to come back time and time again
google avatar

FoodieChic K.

Yelp
Shay took extremely good care of us. And made us the best cocktail I've ever had with whiskey and walnut. Yum.

Ashley B.

Yelp
I really enjoyed this place. I love that they do happy hour for teachers all night - seriously so cool. The service was 10/10. The Nashville hot chicken sandwich was delicious. Great vibe-fairly busy on a Thursday night. They have a selection of homemade hot sauces that were amazing.

Yelp
Yelp fam!!!! Ok , Let's talk about Burgers! Lots of places have them and I've definitely had my fair share. I've gotten a recommendation for OLAR a few times, recently I decided to go for it. (Spoiler alert- they were so good we ordered twice) My fiancée is a burger connoisseur, so the stakes were high. After checking out the menu I ordered the Smash burger and the OLAR classic burger. We got everything delivered for date night and started to chow down. I can say that was one of the best burgers I've ever eaten. Perfectly cooked and seasonedZ The first time I had the OLAR classic burger which was great! Second time I had the smash burger, both were great. Highly recommend checking them out. Along with the burgers we had wings and some cheese steak egg rolls. Both were tasty accompaniments to the burgers! If you like really good burgers and bar food def give OLAR a try.
google avatar

Tola O.

Yelp
We went for a drag show hosted by of love and regret. The drag show was a bit sloppy but still funny but the mimosas they offered were all orange juice with barely any champagne. My friends eggs Benedict was so bad she couldn't eat it. I had the breakfast burrito and it was over seasoned. We had to get a second brunch somewhere else after we left. Not sure I would go back.
google avatar

Yelp
Date Night Quarantine Order: 1 OLR Smashburg 1 Oder of wings 1 Chef Mo's Sandwich Let me tell you something!!!!! It all equaled greatness. I don't know how I haven't eaten from this spot before but I'm so glad I did. I felt like I was enjoying happy hour in the comfort of my home!

Yelp
What can I say about a bar and their food? To start the service is awesome. The ambience is intimate. The wide selection of beer will make you want to come back. The food is hearty, comforting, and while I have no way of describing it properly, distinctively OLAR. If you're looking for a new bar to try out, give this place a look.

Yelp
Recently visited for a Burlesque show and was pretty disappointed in the food + the service was so-so. The portions are pretty small for the prices. As someone who dines a lot in DC, no stranger to $30+ plus entrees. However, the portion and quality of the food at Love and Regret pales in comparison to other DC restaurants of similar price points. I ordered the onion soup for my appetizer and crab cake and mashed potato and Brussels for my entree. Onion soup tasted bad - almost sweet which was strange and not the flavor profile I was expecting. The crab cake was pretty good and not a lot of filler - saved the show! The mashed potatoes were solid as well - nicely seasoned and warm upon arrival. The Brussels sprouts were horrid - cold, unseasoned, no caramelization, just BLAND!! As for service, didn't seem to have an assigned served just saw about 3-4 workers tag teaming tables. Had to repeat requests for salt and pepper , condiments , etc. The ambiance was really nice - great decorations and vibe to get a drink in the neighborhood but that's it. The burlesque show was fantastic so highly recommend attending but perhaps eating beforehand

Yelp
Really nice pub in Fells Point. I stopped in for a bite after work on the recommendation of a friend. I was greeted by a very friendly waitress who seated me and immediately told me about the weekly specials and happy hour specials. I opted for the Marinated Beef Tacos which were one of the weekly specials. They had a nice selection of draft beers, most were local MD brews. The also had some interesting cocktails but I stuck to beer. The tacos came in about 10 minutes and they were fantastic! Perfectly marinated beef and lots of fresh toppings. In looking at their menu, they have some really interesting dishes. I can't wait to get back and try some of the others. Overall, excellent service, fantastic food and wide selection of drink options. I will definitely be back for more.

Yelp
My husband and I had our rehearsal dinner at OLAR and I seriously cannot say enough good things about the entire experience. From start to finish, Ellie and her team were amazing. For the quality of food it is extremely reasonable and Ellie was so dedicated to making our rehearsal perfect for us... and it was!! Whether you're popping in for dinner and drinks or end up booking an event, Of Love and Regret won't disappoint!!!

Yelp
Posting a 5 star review based on wonderful service and the quality of other peoples entrees! The non-coconut salmon was amazing, but the coconut salmon which i ordered was less so. Everyone loved their entrees and I enjoyed my special mocktail. Will definitely be back! Thanks

Yelp
If I could give this place more than 5 stars, I would! My fiancé and I went for a date night and wanted to try someplace new. We came across OLAR and are happy to say we will be back for more. I was unsure of which beverage to try since their signature cocktails are a big part of their ambiance. I told our server that I enjoyed gin and was looking for something sweet and he surprised me with the Yes Queen cocktail. It was absolutely delicious, so delicious I had to write down what was in it so I can make it myself at home. We shared a plate of the beer-battered mushrooms for an appetizer and we're pleasantly surprised! The dish came with a spicy sweet light sauce to go with the mushrooms and the combination was delectable. My fiancé decided to order the bolognese as his entree and I ordered the Vermont Maple Burger for myself. My fiancé thought the bolognese was a tad overpriced for what it is, but understood due to how involved the process is to make it (since it simmers for 6.5 hours). He actually tried my burger and wish he had ordered that, it was so delicious. The caramelized onion and bacon provided a sweetness, the apple slices on it added a very nice crunch to the burger, and the Gouda cheese on it added a little bit of sharpness that just brought everything together. My only complaint was that because it is a pub-style restaurant, we were seated very close to other people and it was a little difficult to hear each other converse, but even that is not enough to take away points. We will definitely be back again!

Yelp
A solid 4.5 ALMOST 5. David and I came in here for a casual weekend brunching action. The menu gave us a runfor our money, David was having the hardest time trying to decide between the crab cake sandwich and the breakfast burrito. In the end he got the crab cake sandwich and I went with the steak and eggs (market price was $19, pretty solid deal!) Seriously this place did not disappoint. The steak and eggs were SO GOOD. I mean steak and perfectly runny eggs over seasoned potatoes AND cheese sauce?! It was amazing. It looked like a small portion at first but I promise you it was perfect, for a 5'3" Asian girl who eats more than you would think. David's crab cake sandwich was HUGE (see picture) he was happy. We noted that they didn't skimp on the crab, GOOD JOB OLAR. Overall we'd definitely come back, so glad we stopped in after we tried Annabel down the street and their hours weren't as posted. Only thing about brunching here that was slightly annoying were the open doors and constant flies buzzing around our food - I usually don't comment on stuff like that but the fact that I actually remembered means it was a little annoying.

Yelp
I had the veggie burger. Never had one before.. I was skeptical but it was delicious they also have bottomless mimosas I recommend. I like the vibe inside as well as the outside vibe. Personality of staff and friendliness is sub-par.

Yelp
Absolutely loved this place! I was extremely impressed. A few friends and I decided to stop by for a bite last minute and were impressed that they had space. It's a great destination for dates or simple get togethers. It has an amazing ambiance! The food and drinks are very well and impressively composed. And the service was great. Over all I would highly recommend the place.

Yelp
Great gatropub with fantastic owners who offer delicious food, AMAZING cocktails, great beer selection and really eclectic wine selection. Been going for years and absolutely love how welcoming and low key this place is!

Marla M.

Yelp
A hidden gem with the best brunch and amazing dinners! Craft cocktails and fantastic service!

Yelp
Fantastic food, great service, all kinds of interesting cocktails. The chili cook off for the firefighters was over the top. Support this restaurant, the owners care about our city and you!

Brandon C.

Yelp
We just got OLAR from grub hub which is normally great. We noticed they didn't provide the Ailoi it was more per meal. The fries were soggy and the pretzel app for $9 was so small. This meal was not $18 quality.

Yelp
Was excited to try this place with my girlfriend last week, but our experience was subpar, which, judging from most other reviews, might just be a one-off anomoly. We got there around 5 and sat at the empty bar. The bartender was nice but told us we had to move down to different seats because "it was a small bar" - not sure what that means but not a big deal, just a little strange to me. The food was overpriced for what you get. My girlfriend got pasta bolognese, which she said was too sweet for her to eat. My food was fine, though. Drinks were good but more comparable to NYC prices than Baltimore. I get it - this is supposed to be a trendy upscale establishment, but it still seemed a little steep. The real issue we had and the reason that we can't go back was that my girlfriend is epileptic and something about the low lighting and the shadows that the ceiling fan above us was casting on the bar counter made her feel like she was going to have a seizure so she had to leave abruptly and wait outside while I quickly paid the bill. They didn't dim the lighting until about 6 or so, which is why we were able to be there for a little while before it became apparent. Neither of us blames the restaurant for that, though, and we both recognize that a seizure warning would be a ridiculous thing for a restaurant to post.

Yelp
Almost $100 after tip for mid-level brunch for 2 people (including us each getting the most watered down, mid grade blood Mary's for $17 each) is ridiculous. I'm not afraid about spending a bag when going out to eat but the quality to cost ratio is is asinine. Y'all are really wild for those prices.

Yelp
Recently went to a private party and was amazed beyond belief. The entire 2nd floor is used for private events and is well-equipped with a fully stocked bar, 2 bathrooms, and dining space. There were ~20 people at the event and there was never a shortage of space, but it also never felt so big that there weren't enough people there. Food: they waited until people started arriving to bring the appetizers out. The spring rolls were delicious and the sauces paired with them exceeded all expectations. Dinner was three courses: an appetizer (soup or salad), meal choice (2 options with shrimp, one with filet, one with chicken + pasta), and a dessert. I took so many boxes of food home; the serving sizes were massive and the food was so delicious. Throughout dinner, there were servers bringing around Drinks: the main bartender is definitely a mixologist blessed on this earth from above. You could explain to her what drinks and flavors you prefer and she would make you a superb drink. The wine choices were on display so you didn't have to constantly ask what options they have for red or white. She provided smaller glasses for sampling wines if you weren't positive you were going to enjoy it. Overall rating: 10/10. Everything about this event was amazing and would highly recommend to anyone looking for a good space for a private event.

Yelp
OLAR is now my favorite bar to grab food and drinks. They have AMAZING cocktails! There's literally so much variety to choose from, and my favorite would be the whiskey sours. The combination of flavors are nothing like anything I've tried before. I have yet to expand outside of that and I look forward to! I've had dinner here twice before, and I can say they have pretty good food as well. For appetizers, I've had the sushi rice squares and the curry roasted cauliflower. Really good flavors on both. Also had their salad and a classic burger. Those were not as mind blowing but in conjunction with the cocktails and the ambiance of this place, this place is definitely a win!

Yelp
This has been a great local spot since I moved here 3 years ago but I have to say the quality has fallen off. Ordered takeout for a OLAR burger and it was awful. Sesame seed bun was stale and crumbly, burger was over cooked, and I got like 5 gigantic steak fries. I mean not the end of the world but for an $18 meal definitely not worth the money. Oh and I just realized they charged me for aïoli sauce that they offered as if it came with the burger SMH

Yelp
This is hands down the best place to go in Baltimore for specialty cocktails and delicious food. The owner and staff go out of their way to provide an exceptional experience. We recently booked their upstairs space for a special occasion and could not have been more impressed with the whole experience! OLAR is a shining star of the Baltimore food/cocktail scene!

Yelp
Of Love & Regret is a dimly lit, seductive place. It almost feels like a sexy, rustic lodge. When you first walk in, you immediately understand that this is a drinking establishment. The bar is the first thing you see with rows and rows of glass bottles glinting flickers of light. My first visit to Of Love & Regret was a couple of years ago and my taste buds were captured. This place was my lover and the drinks were sweet nothings that warmed my mouth. I insist on returning every time I visit Baltimore. All of the food is elevated bar fare. Think toasts, burgers, calamari, charcuterie, etc. Then there are some (IMHO) random Asian infusions: banh mi, dumplings, and shrimp toast. It's cool and I like it. From what I understand, ownership/management has shifted. That shift resulted in less focus on the bar, which was a shining beacon drawing thirsty patrons. The bar scene is still good but I didn't have anything especially memorable during my most recent visit. The service was okay. I wanted to order more things and the server wasn't there. Some of my companions thought that she was great. We were initially delighted that the server gave us split bills until one of my companions pointed out that a 20% gratuity was added (there were five of us and then two people joined us later). That was really disappointing considering I didn't notice and tipped 20% on top of that. I'll probably continue to return to Of Love & Regret in hopes that the spark will one day turn into a flame.

Yelp
Having been to OLaR several times now for dinner and brunch, I realized a review was long overdue for this neighborhood hot spot. If you're looking for your quintessential subterranean Baltimore hidden gem, OLaR should definitely be on your list. Great for groups and couples alike, OLaR offers a cocktail and beer list fit for any aficionado, alongside flavorful, inventive dishes. Some of my favorites have included the creamy tomato soup with the perfect side of crunchy ciabatta, and the Veggie Bahn Mi Burriot, with each bite providing a complex mix of savory, sweet and textural diversity. Whether a weeknight or over the weekend, OLaR is a spot to check out!

Yelp
We ordered the smash burger and dukes burger as well as the Mac and cheese. Everything tasted amazing and the service was great. They have discounted burgers on Tuesdays so we'll definitely be coming back for that.
