Ofelias Hotel (Barcelona, Catalonia) 13 Hotel Reviews | Tablet Hotels

"The climate, the seaside, the food, the famously late-partying populace — Barcelona’s got quite a lot going for it, even aside from its hotels. By local standards, Ofelias Hotel is a hotel whose charms are quite subtle — but that says perhaps more about the the quality of the competition than it does about Ofelias itself." - Tablet Hotels

We stayed at Ofelias Hotel in October for our company gathering in Barcelona, and the experience was fantastic from start to finish. The staff were incredibly welcoming and helpful, making sure everything ran smoothly for our group. The rooms were modern, comfortable, and spotless, and the location made it easy for everyone to explore the city during our free time. The hotel team went above and beyond to accommodate our needs throughout the event: from coordinating group check-ins to helping with last-minute logistics. Everything felt effortless thanks to their professionalism and kindness. Highly recommended for business groups and company gatherings, we’d happily return!

In a city that seems like it never sleeps, Barcelona's Ofelias Hotel was a glad oasis. e had a superior room with spacious terrace. The bed was comfortable, the room was impeccably laid out, and the quiet private outdoor space made things all the more relaxing. Breakfast, for those who like to start the day with a full meal, was a relatively accessible €18. Cafe Tartella up the street offers alternative breakfast and healthy lunch options. A mall across the street offers backup for necessities. Within two blocks of the metro. An excellent spot.

Stunning! My husband & I stayed for one night on a little mini euro trip starting in Barcelona. The hotel is beautiful! Rooms were cleans & modern with possibly the softest sheets I’ve ever slept on 😂 The pool area is adequate for hotel size & location and is beautifully lined with tropical plants and loungers. Towels are provided. We don’t have breakfast in the hotel but did have a quick look in & it looked standard continental style buffet. We were able to store our luggage & use the pool area after check out too which is nice.

Stayed 4 nights at the hotel. On arrival room looked good and was clean, room smelled a bit of perfume, especially the bathroom. After using the bathroom 1-2 times it started smelling of sewage. We kept door closed but extremely unpleasant. Mentioned to staff and cleaners asked if we didn’t like the perfume smell, probably language barrier. However this resulted in room having a rather weird smell even when keeping balcony door open when around. All our belongings damp and smelly when leaving. Area fine with lots of restaurant within 10-20 minutes walk. Noice from underground.

We booked a 4-star Superior hotel but was given a room with a strong mould and damp smell. We complained immediately, but the only “solution” that night was spraying perfume in the room. The next day, after a sleepless and uncomfortable night, we were finally moved to another room. The hotel refuses to refund the ruined first night and even tried to justify the situation as being “normal for Barcelona’s climate, especially in historic buildings.” Completely unacceptable excuse. A hotel at this level should guarantee clean, healthy rooms from the start.

Absolutely disgusting hotel, shabby, dirty, smelly. We couldn't stay here and other guests outside were confirming how bad the hotel was. Avoid. They refused to refund us even partially. I took lots of photos.

Disorganized, Unprofessional, and Unsafe – Avoid This Hotel My experience at this hotel was extremely disappointing. From the moment I arrived, it was clear that management was disorganized. I was initially sent to a room that had not been cleaned, which was an unpleasant and unhygienic surprise. After addressing the issue, I was given another room, only to discover that there was no hot water for the entirety of my three-night stay. On top of that, after my room was finally cleaned, it was left open, creating a major security concern—anyone could have walked in. To make matters even worse, the staff showed complete disregard for guest privacy by opening my hotel room door without knocking. This lack of professionalism and respect for guests is completely unacceptable. What made everything even more frustrating was the complete lack of concern from the staff—no apology, no attempt to resolve the issue, and no compensation offered for the inconvenience. The overall service was indifferent at best, making it clear that guest satisfaction is not a priority here. If you're looking for a hassle-free, safe, and comfortable stay, I strongly advise choosing another hotel. This one is simply not worth the frustration.

Myself and partner booked the hotel thinking it was a 4* as part of our honeymoon trip. We arrived and noticed the bed was the hardest thing. We asked at reception and they put a mattress topper on. I woke later that night with pins and needles.||We complained again in the middle of the night as the metro was under the hotel and was really noisy.|The reception gave us mattress toppers and pillows which we had to sort ourselves. The next morning we found mould in the walls and very dusty AC vent. The bathroom has no door or separation creating heat and humidity in the room.||The AC is dusty so the combination is terrible especially having severe asthma. We complained again and the woman on reception was very rude and did not listen and told us the manager is off and is entitled to it and to sort it out on Monday (it was Saturday). I had white bite marks on my feet from all of the bedding which didn't come with pillow cases or protection and that what we was left to sort. Dust, mite marks, humidity and mould is really not ok for somebody with asthma. So we left the hotel and of course hours later we were offered another hotel under their brand. After the experience we did not want to stay and left as it was our honeymoon. The hotel still charged for a night we didn't stay! We booked into a 3* hotel afterwards and received a more comfortable, cleaner stay and with better service! HEADS UP DON'T WASTE YOUR MONEY!

Yelp
Absolutely terrible hotel and management. The hotel is significantly not as described in pictures. It is dirty, dusty and tatty. When confronted we were told there was only one upgrade option and that room was worse. Then after we left they refused to partially refund us and then lied and informed the booking company they showed us four rooms in total. This was inaccurate

Yelp
Excellent boutique hotel in the heart of it all. The staff could not be nicer! They were very kind and helpful as to what, where, and how. The hotel is right across from the Centro Arenas and steps away from Plaza de Espana. The hotel is also a short walk from Poble Espanyol, Magic Fountain of Montjuic, and Les Rambles. The room was a fair size and very clean. The hotel in general was clean and chic. Un hotel maravilloso!!

Yelp
It's been ages since I've written a Yelp review, so I think it's good to kick things off with a 5-star post. I stayed at Ofelias Hotel back in October. It was a long weekend trip to Barcelona to celebrate my birthday and also soak up some autumn sun. I had an amazing time. Barcelona is a beautiful city, so I'm sure I would have enjoyed it either way, but the sun was shining, the food didn't disappoint and we stayed at Ofelias. First thing you notice as you step into the reception is the smell of perfume. Not too intrusive and not overly sweet, the scent perforates every room and space in the hotel. It's not an ant-hill of a hotel - it's fairly small and not busy at all. You'll have enough privacy, even by the rooftop pool. Another great thing about the hotel is the design. It's decorated extremely tastefully, with stunning paintings tactically placed to complement the stylish furniture. The staff are very friendly and helpful. The beds are comfortable. The bathrooms are have a kickass walk-in shower. Oh, what more could you ask for? Bicycles, you say? Well, the hotel offers a free bicycle hire service. There you go, those 5 stars are completely justified. I would happily stay at Ofelias again and again and again.

Yelp
I got food poisoning from Room Service and was ill the rest of my trip and continuing home. What did the hotel do, "Well, we won't charge you for the food". I wrote to the manager and to Bondia Hotels to complain about my experience. I think they should have comped the remainder of my stay since my holiday was ruined. I was too ill to move hotels. There are plenty of other hotels. Skip this experience.

Yelp
One of the best boutique hotels I have stayed in while traveling in Europe. The staff was very welcoming and knowledgeable - eager to make our visit the very best. The rooms are clean, comfortable and had everything a weary traveler would ask for - comfy beds and excellent location. I'd rebook a star on my next trip to Barcelona.

Yelp
Chic hotel with a very friendly staff. The rooms were lovely and modern. I loved that they had bikes, balconies and a rooftop pool. It was a small hotel with very nice furnishings. We loved it.
