A standout local experience for me and my friend. What set this venue apart from some of the other excellent venues I’ve been to, (as I make my way through each one) in part, was the great light work. My friend and I loved the band, the hype was real. The venue had some large fans in the ceiling that kept the air moving. Drink prices were reasonable. The bathrooms were shaped weird for women but clean and line moved quickly. The line to get in moved efficiently and security did as well. Acoustics seemed great too. I think my friend and I lucked out with there being awesome fellow fans, great theater setup, and amazing light work. I paid for parking in advance which was a bit of a fee, but it was kind of nice to have the car nearby when we were ready to leave.

The Ogden is always great. Saw Amigo the Devil here a few weeks back and had a great time. Got too hot from the crowd and stepped out front and they hung out and gave free water. Overall was a good time, just like every other time in the past. I'm glad venues from when I was a kid are still around and running strong.

Saw Level Up here September 6-7, 2024. She always brings the wins, dubs and plur! Lovely green room area - much bigger than other places I’ve seen. Sound is good , security is tight - what else could one ask for?

The Ogden Theater in Denver is hands down one of the best venues in the city! The variety and quality of shows they bring in are fantastic, always featuring incredible artists and creating an unforgettable atmosphere. What really sets the Ogden apart is the amazing staff that runs the place. They are always friendly, attentive, and genuinely care about making sure everyone has a great experience. I always feel safe and comfortable here, thanks to the team's efforts to look after the crowd and keep things running smoothly. Every time I go, I have the best time – it's the perfect spot for a night of great music and good vibes!

Me and my partner have been here a few times now. Our most recent concert was X Ambassadors, it was a brilliant experience. All good vibes, everyone was very respectful and just wanted to have a good time watching the band they love. There weren't any crazy lines to get in/get beer/toilets. This ensured you got to watch your favourite band as much as possible.

Cool venue. Sound was good both downstairs and upstairs. It holds a fair few people but the show still felt very connected and personal.

My sisters and I drove 9 hours for the Gilo and Asia concert. All good vibes, everyone was very respectful EXCEPT for the arrogant supervisor in charge. I stepped away from the building and took an emergency call on the side of the building (where the employees were taking a break at) and he told me I was unable to reenter due to their policy (citing an uncommunicated policy requiring constant visibility) Which wasn’t mentioned upon arrival OR my quick departure from the building. He was extremely rude. Guessing short man syndrome kicked in. Anyway, I had an idea to purchase another ticket to re-enter. A police officer, who witnessed the exchange, kindly offered to verify the supervisor's decision before I purchased the additional ticket, highlighting the absurdity of the situation. Very distasteful yet comical behavior from that supervisor. SN - The venue allows underage children inside.

Fun venue, I've enjoyed myself anytime I've been. Security is both helpful and thorough, they aren't trying to ruin a good time, but they are clearly trying to keep people safe so everyone can enjoy themselves for several hours. These photos are from the Die Antwoord show on October 30th, 2024

Yelp
Ogden Theatre sits on the heart of Colfax. It's filled with rich history and has welcomed incredible acts over the years. To me, it doesn't have the same allure and magic of some of Denver's rivaled clubs, though I appreciate its place in history. When it was built a hundred years ago, they probably never predicted that this old cow town would turn into as popular of a city as it has become. Attending an event here (or even at Fillmore a few blocks down) is chaos. Parking is extremely minimal, more like a major headache. The tour buses either park directly in front of the venue or on the sidestreet, the line to get in wraps around the building and with the surrounding Colfax chaos it's usually an overstimulating adventure just to make it inside. Ogden is bigger than Bluebird and smaller than Fillmore. Around 1500 capacity. I've seen two acts I really love here, Jerry Cantrell (of Alice In Chains fame) and Rival Sons. The venue floor is tiered and overall a decent setup. It's similar to Bluebird, different barriers separating one from the other. Sound is good, better if you're in the back, but if it's a band I love I'm getting as close as possible. They have two bars, and they do an adequate job serving the masses. You can't do anything about the prices, but occasionally you might find a deal on something. It's a concert, get a beer or a spirit and soda and get out of there! I'm sure I'll find myself here again and though it's not a favorite venue of mine, I can get down with the acts they bring in. If you can, uber there to avoid the parking situation!

Yelp
I think I was the oldest person there for the Destroy Lonely concert, so please keep that in mind when reading this. These comments are for parents who might be going with their middle-school kids. - Make sure to download the AXS app or have your kid download it, and show your ticket through there, even if you bought it through Vividseats. - At the entrance, staff were asking EVERYONE, even kids who were obviously not 16 for their IDs, which made them worried. They only need IDs to get an wristband to drink (which they were not going to do) and DID NOT MATTER for getting into the concert, but nobody was telling the kids or parents that. - There are free sealed earplugs offered near the front entrance. - VIP section is worth it (as a parent) if you want to sit down. There's about 20-30 bar stools in the upstairs balcony that is not in the VIP section, but need to grab them early. - Prepaid parking is super close, down the ally next to the theater. Definitely seemed worth it. Two staff took my name on a clipboard, but there are no signs telling you how to find it. - No re-entry, not even to go to your car. - The only way I could step outside and still return was to hang out in the gated smoking section with some friendly folks. - there were many angry people at the entrance yelling at staff about not being allowed in. - The mosh pit at the front seemed pretty safe from too much squeezing, because both sides are kept open. There were a few crowd surfers and a few who formed a circle to bash into each other. A few things were thrown, like water bottles and shoes (who wants to be in a mosh pit without shoes?) and I saw a few bloody people getting treated for minor head wounds , but overall... seemed liked the guards kept things mostly under control. - the upstairs was much much nicer for me and I thought the sound quality was better up there too (less echo).

Yelp
Came here for a comedy show and was surprised there was no seating, standing only. To stand for 3 hours is kinda taxing when it's just comedy, not a concert. They had one large fan, but it was so packed we were sweating, and there was no room to move. Getting in was super fast thankfully, they were checking IDs outside, then the tickets inside. They had a full bar, a tall boy was $15. The sound quality was good, we could hear everyone and if you aren't too short you could see the stage clearly. This was a weird venu for comedy because there were no chairs, but it did make it more intimate and everyone super involved.

Rachel H.

Yelp
Get there early for good spots! The security line is typically fast. The bartenders are faster. Sound system is on point. Lasers go right in the eyes, just how I like it. Intimate venue.

Alisa J.

Yelp
Great concert seeing Lucky Daye at the Ogden. Security and ticketing was super easy and quick. The venue is actually smaller than I thought it was going to be but the concert was super fun. Also plenty of street parking around but definitely get there early. Also some nice food options within walking distance. The bathroom was also actually clean. Wish they would enforce no smoking a bit more

Melanie T.

Yelp
The parking situation can be complicated and there are many paid parking lots spread out. The venue itself is small so you can get a good view of the artist wherever you stand. With that said, it is mainly standing room with limited seating options. If you want a seat, get there early. Even the VIP area doesn't guarantee seats for everyone. I enjoyed the balcony area because it's a good space to breathe and enjoy the show with a great view of the stage. No one was standing in front of me or behind me. It was nice to see the show without everyone's phones in your face.

Harlee S.

Yelp
Not my favorite, but it'll have to do for artists that I want to see. First, it was hot as hell. It looked like the only form of "air conditioning" they had was through the several fans they had throughout the venue. Second, I just don't feel like the venue was built for maximum viewing. There were random poles and overhangs where if you stood in a certain spot, you couldn't see anything. However, the staff were great and getting in was easy and quick.

Henry K.

Yelp
Me and my friend paid 120 to get kicked out for having a celcius energy drink. Security guards were uncooperative and rude.

Keir V.

Yelp
I was the designated driver for my friend and both of us got kicked out for me having an energy drink. Staff were mean and unhelpful. Would not return.

Cassandra T.

Yelp
Pluses: intimate venue, decent sound quality , two bars with fast bartenders who were also nice, decent beer selection on tap in inside bar, tiered standing room. Safety features like metal detectors, bag checks, security throughout. Negatives: so crowded on lower tiers and became a mosh pit , hot as heck once main band started, bathrooms could have been cleaner

Drew S.

Yelp
My wife and I came up to Denver (we always love it here!) to see Kameron Marlowe last night. Overall our trip just kept having snags. We ended up having to cancel most of our plans due to snow and make do. Little things adding up all good but then last straw my wife was feeling claustrophobic and just having a ton of anxiety. So excited for the show, we tried to hang out in the back by the wall and listen. A woman came up to us and offered us VIP bracelets upstairs. The show was amazing and so enjoyable downstairs but moving us upstairs changed everything. So grateful for that my wife had the best time ever and turned our little trip completely around. Thank you so much Ogden Theater, Kameron Marlowe, and especially the lady who gave us the wristbands

Sonja A.

Yelp
Not too bad a venue for live music. * Standing room only downstairs * Limited seating upstairs * Coat check available * 2 bar areas. One located in front foyer, the other behind the merch table * Restrooms are small (with slight need for upgrade) * Security requires patrons walk thru a metal detector. All bags searched! Now for the downside....sound engineering. The music, instruments, vocals are WAY out of balance. I could hear Marc Labelle (lead singer if Dirty Honey) but not very well. He is one voice that deserves to and should be heard. Instead we got a earful of guitar (John Notto is still amazing) but please find the happy medium (Sound guy....this means you). Go to my FB page and take a listen.... raw footage....

Yelp
We came here for a concert to see Ella Mai on Saturday May 20th in Denver. The venue itself is a perfect little spot to watch a show at. It's small so it gives you a more intimate experience in my opinion rather than a big arena type venue would. We had seats on the balcony with no crowdedness to deal with either. One thing that put a damper on things was asking the staff while in line if we were supposed to be in the GA line as we had VIP seats in the balcony. They told us to go to the front, only to find out we were in fact supposed to be in the GA line. So we lost our place, then on the way back to the back of the line again, my wife tripped on the sidewalk as it wasn't level, and sprained her ankle really bad. This really could've been prevented if we were told the correct procedure to line up in the first place.

Richard P.

Yelp
Admittedly a fan of these older, smaller venues for the intimate show opportunities they provide. We saw Chelsea Cutler here Sunday night (4/10/22) and had a great time. We had early access ticks that allowed us to grab barstools on the left balcony that gave us an amazing close-up view of the whole show. The usual $8 Bud Light tall boys and mostly SRO GA, but a great old spot for your favorite non-arena artist.

Gregory H.

Yelp
Classic, must-experience concert venue on iconic Colfax. Solid bar. What's not to like?

Alyssa H.

Yelp
YALL - do emojis work on Yelp because [crying emoji, star eyes emoji] - seeing Bryce Vine perform at the Ogden was so much more than I thought it would be. First and foremost, I'm not a fan of tight spaces and big crowds so I was skeptical it would be comfortable. I took a chance because YOLO (it is historic after all) and it was my birthday. The VIP balcony tickets are 100% worth it if you like a little more space and you're short like me. The view was great! If you want a stool though you've gotta get there earlier. The speaker volume was just right, not so loud that your eardrums burst, but so loud you can feel the energy! The intimacy of this concert venue is unbeatable and felt just as powerful - if not more - than a large stadium. I bought a fast pass and didn't end up needing it because we got there later, so if that's your plan save some money and don't bother. Anyway, this was a dream and I'm thrilled I got to experience it - if you're unsure just do it! You won't regret experiencing this place at least once. PS - for parking I recommend using spot hero in advance. There are several options within walking distance. Don't make the mistake of getting towed (like we saw when we were leaving) to ruin a great night out.

Killian M.

Yelp
The show was very good, I enjoyed it but the rent-a-cops if you can even call them that were abrasive at best. I showed my ID several times and I still got accosted later IN the venue for an ID even when I had a bracelet on. And when I wanted to step outside for a moment to make sure I didn't get towed I was accosted further by the two impotent "guards" by the door and I was told I could not step outside (even though there was a smoking section) when I asked I got nothing but hostility. I understand that there was a no re-entry rule but I literally went around the corner still in front of the venue.

Alex G.

Yelp
Went to the Ogden to see Mau P with my sister and friends for my birthday. My sister was 18 at the time, and after getting our ids checked, we were told she could not enter the building because she had already been kicked out for underage drinking... we had not even had our tickets scanned yet. We tried to explain to them there must be some mix up and asked to speak to the manager- which they refused saying the order came from the manager. Long story short, event staff/security were so incredibly rude and unprofessional - they screamed at my sister to the point she was bawling her eyes out in the middle of the security line. They yelled at me to leave my sister and enter the venue while three adult male security guards are essentially ganging up on her alone. Finally, they realized they had made a mistake and allowed her to enter, but it really did put a damper on the entire night. A nice lady working for the venue came up to apologize, but for a situation like this, it should have been the manager coming to speak to us. We tried to call the next day to report the incident, and we were told there was nothing they could do because they weren't in charge of security. Either way, this incredibly stressful, and honestly traumatizing, experience has really tainted my perception of this venue. Besides this incident, the Ogden gets some great acts and is a nice venue for shows. I would just highly caution others about the security they hire for events.

Yelp
Freaking love this venue! My husband and I came to see underoath, and it was such a great show! The bands kept mentioning how the show almost didn't happen, and then they mentioned that they were trapped in a snowstorm and the venue sent passenger vans to rescue them so that the show could happen. That's some serious dedication. I am so eternally grateful. We have been listening to Underoath for nearly 20 years, and would have been devastated if the show was canceled. Upper level was VIP only, and had its own bar. Two bars on the lower level, plus tables with merch. The womens bathroom on the main level had 8 stalls- even during the peak bathroom time- right before the main band started- the line moved quick and I waited about 20 minutes. Drinks were inconsistent, but not super ridiculous price wise for a venue. I got two vodka sodas (singles, not doubles, $17 and some change). The first was so light my husband asked if there was alcohol in it, the second drink so heavy I had to sip it at first. Bartenders and security were all friendly but firm- a couple guys gave security crap for not letting them in without their vaccination cards, and I was so impressed with how professionally security was in handling them! Security was also very friendly as they were running the metal detectors. They were so patient when I didn't realize my belt had set off the detector, and helped me figure out what it was. Parking off Colfax always sucks- the Ogden has its own lot, but it fills up quick. Other businesses nearby also will let you park for $10- we parked at the Wendy's, which was nice and close and had a surprisingly large lot! There's also some lots with meters that you can pay by the hour. Most of the curbside parking is 2 hours only, so expect to pay for parking, one way or the other. Great venue and would recommend a show here any time.

Rebecca M.

Yelp
I stopped in on Friday night for the Magic City Hippies show. I haven't been to the Ogden for a minute, so it was good to be back. The Ogden is a small theater right on Colfax that harkens back to old cap hill days. You can still check out some of your fave up and coming bands for a reasonable ticket price. The staff is friendly, they get you in the door quickly and the bartenders are quick to keep your cup full. Even when its sold out, its full without being claustrophobic. Support your local artists and venues and go see a show!

Ashley B.

Yelp
Most of the time they overbook shows making each area extremely crowded. The security is absolutely awful, extremely rude and does their jobs poorly. Each time I come here for a concert the staff seems to get worse. Be careful seeing a show here.

Peter H.

Yelp
Great venue !!! However, bar takes NO CASH which is hugely discriminatory and illegal.

Maddy B.

Yelp
A Classic Colfax venue, usually pretty clean and the staff is cool. I mean, it's a concert venue and they're not typically hosting the calmest, classiest artists like Tony Bennett or Hans Zimmer so people will be messy and wild but they do a good job at making sure if someone looks like they're becoming a danger to themselves or others, they are removed. Overall, respect the historic theater and it's employees, and they'll respect you too

Cherie C.

Yelp
It's a good size venue. It's big enough to accommodate some established performers I enjoy, but it's still small enough that I don't need binoculars to see them. Staff are great. They handle IDs, security, etc. with efficiency. Once when we cycled to a show on BCycle, we had our helmets but weren't allowed to bring them in. They kept them in the office and let us retrieve them after the show. They didn't NEED to be so accommodating, so I appreciated that. Last show I attended, there was a bucket of earplugs at the bar. I'd forgotten mine, so that was super-cool.

Erin L.

Yelp
Went for Kaleo - and got a great standing spot, no chairs available. You have to get there early to snag a good spot but if you do the view and sound is great. Minus one star because your male bar tenders are very very rude and pretentious and your bathrooms are pretty gross. From a vibe and atmosphere perspective I still prefer the paramount.

Trevor F.

Yelp
I'm from out of town and loved my experience at the Ogden Theatre. My wife and I went to see the Strumbellas. First off, the security process to get in is super quick and simple. Line quickly moved and there were no problems there. Every employee we interacted with was kind and knew what they were doing. The layout of the theatre was great! They have "stadium-standing". So you've got the pit right by the stage, then about 10 feet back there is a ledge up to another "landing" with a rail. Then another 10 feet back there is another ledge up to a "landing" with a rail. There are about four or five "landings". It's awesome because then everyone gets a good view of the show instead of only the tall people. Others have mentioned getting there early enough to get a stool on the balcony, but I thought it was great to be right on a ledge with the railing so I could lean onto that throughout the show. Also, you don't have to be the first in line to get one of those spots! There are fans on the ceiling and then fans along the balcony blowing into the lower level. Our concert was pretty full, but not packed so while it was definitely warmer, it wasn't overly hot. I didn't feel uncomfortable. The sound was pretty good. The opener was a band who thought it was a good idea to play as loud as possible and honestly it just makes the band sound worse than they are. But the main show sounded great. I'd be back here for sure!

Enrique H.

Yelp
Went for the first time to see "Eptic". Wasn't a bad spot for the event, only that the space was tight, and at times the bathrooms were really hard to get into.

Janeen D.

Yelp
I am always laughing when I go by the Ogden and see people waiting outside for hours before a show begins. I went to see Jane's Addiction here, after not seeing them for 26 years! I arrived after the opening band had left the stage, and even though there was still a huge crowd outside, I was able to get inside quickly. A lot of the people outside were in an enclosed area smoking, who had already been admitted to the show. This means that when you arrive, you have to walk by a huge area of smokers, and even once inside, the door to the "smoking area" is open to the inside of the venue, so it smells terrible in the front of the house. I felt like I was at a show back in the 80's! Not to worry though, because after showing your ticket, you can choose to go upstairs quickly, where the smell changes from being completely repulsive, to an overwhelming smell of pot! I chose to watch the show on the main floor, right by the speakers, and had an amazing view of the show. It was great to see one of my favorite bands so close and not have my ears ringing for days afterwards. All the people who I encountered who work at the Ogden were really friendly. Definitely a cool old Colfax space to see a show!

Kevin L.

Yelp
Great venue! Loved the atmosphere of the building. Drinks are a bit overpriced. Paid $17 for two beers. Sound is pretty excellent. Make sure you come early if one of your favorite bands are playing so that you can get a good spot, it can get pretty crowded depending on the show!

Peggy H.

Yelp
We have concert tickets for the English Beat today, and the place is dark and closed. WTF?

Crystal K.

Yelp
I love this venue. It has great headliners, gives an intimate experience with a band, and is one of my favorite Colfax music venues. My experience here has always been resoundingly positive.

Grateful A.

Yelp
I wish I could leave this venue 0 stars They have $190 drinks that are a .01 fluid oz of ice with a splash of alcohol The only good thing is talented edm artists come here once every 5 months and tickets are $42 Security is the wackest thing I've ever heard of. They have metal detectors to go in the bathroom here I'm so confused about it

Brenda L.

Yelp
Music makes me lose control! I have tons of fun memories here so I have to give credit to this hosting venue! Love the Ogden because the venue is intimate and the shows here are really affordable! I've seen many different shows here including Cashmere Cat, Tinashe, Wax Tailor (I think this was at Ogden...), etc. I like the different levels you can stand/sit at and the fact that there are multiple bars. Bathroom space is limited but the venue is never too crowded so it hasn't been an issue. As Tinashe would say, I like to get 2 on; Ogden is just the place to do that! And as Cashmere Cat would say, well... he wouldn't- cat always getting his tongue. Parking sucks. It's always random street parking and hoping you don't get caught in areas for customers only.

Kimberly I.

Yelp
I am not sure if my review is swayed by severe nostalgia form over the years, but I am going to share my love for the Ogden Theater regardless. The location of The Ogden is one of its perks. IT is located on Colfax in the middle of lots of buzz. There are restaurants to grab a bite before the show, Alpine Dog Brewery is right around the corner, and if you feel like going out after the concert there are a plethora of bars within walking distance. Parking can be a pain on the street, but it is doable. The Wendy's next door offers parking for $10 which is always worth it since it is close and saves you any hassle. There are some other businesses that offer paid parking, but this is my go to. The bands that come through The Ogden vary but seem to be an eclectic version of all the music that I like. I tend to stick with more acoustic, folk, indie rock bands these days and this is the main hub for all of those bands, unless they are playing at Red Rocks. Often times bands will play at Red Rocks but also make a pit stop here while they are in town. The lay out has an upstairs where there is limited seating as well as standing room. The bottom level has different steps, so you can still see even if you are in the back because the room gradually gets lower all the way down to the stage. When you walk into the venue you will go through a metal detector and have your purse checked, with creates a valued level of safety. The front room after you enter is where the merch is housed. This is nice because you can take a look and grab a tee before it gets crazy later on in the night. Beers are not too expensive, ranging from $5-$8 and there is a good selection of local brews. You really cant go wrong here. They blast the AC as much as they can, so it isn't miserably hot during shows and there is lots of space so you never feel like the venue is too smooshed. It has been home to some of my favorite local bands as well as those passing through. I love this place and it holds many special memories. I am sure other natives feel the same way. Music wouldn't be the same in Denver without the Ogden.

Taylor S.

Yelp
I love this venue and I love the talent that is attracts. Yes, it can get crowded. Yes the bar can take a minute but just stop and take a minute to appreciate the hard work it takes to coordinate a venue from the bookings to the day of! There are three bars, so you're bound to stay hydrated or get very drunk. One when you walk in, another on the base floor that tends to take forever and another upstairs. Drinks aren't too pricey and get the job done. Ogden is basically like Southwest Airlines meaning that you sit where you like. Get there early and you're bound to scope out a decent spot. Arrive late and, we'll, hope for the best but usually you can squeeze in somewhere with a decent view.

Lauren B.

Yelp
My second favorite music venue behind Red Rocks in Denver and that's not just because I live within walking distance of the place. Don't try and park in this area because it's pretty hard, take a cab or walk if that's an option. The venue itself is pretty small (as in holds only 1500 people) but every spot you get, you can see the stage. The staff is always very polite and they try to get everyone in here as fast as possible (especially if it's cold outside). The two bars both take credit cards so you don't need to take out cash beforehand. Don't bring mace or chapstick because the Ogden employees will take it from you when you walk into the venue. The bathrooms are clean and it's a cool venue to check out!

Annette K.

Yelp
Went to see a concert here two weekends for a friend's birthday and had a blast! The venue setup is really nice because there are upstairs staggered standing sections with railings where you can make sure to be able to stand with all your friends and still be super close to the bar area, which is where my friend group chose to go! If you like to be really really close to the music - the downstairs door floor area is your spot. There's also side-standing viewing areas that gives you and in-between view. In no location did I feel squished or overly crowded - although I did choose to stay at the top so I assume if you go to ground level things might be squishier! Sound quality was pretty solid even at the top/not super close! The bartenders were great and friendly and the beer was cheap! Larger 16 oz cans were around $6 and if you're okay with a regular sized PBR can they're only $3-$4. Bottled water was also $3-$4. Minus one star because the bathrooms are a bit small for a concert venue - only two stalls for the ladies, but the lines moved quickly. All in all I prefer this concert venue over places like the Filmore due to better layout and better sound quality.

Ariana O.

Yelp
I really love this venue! I went to see the H.E.R. concert here and it was an almost perfect first time experience. The bartenders were awesome, extremely friendly and very quick. The security guards walked around a few times, and it made me feel really safe. The only thing that ruined my night was the security guard that literally pushed me at the end of the night after I kindly and respectfully asked if I could go back in to buy some merchandise because I was pushed towards the side exit and had no idea where I was going. Unfortunately, I wasn't able to get anything which kinda sucked.. but overall, had an AMAZING time (:

Julie N.

Yelp
Small theatre that also has stools for seats on the 2nd level (no extra charge to go upstairs). Two bars- one upstairs and one downstairs. I like that this theatre is stadium style with really deep rows so that there's plenty of space and people can view the stage from different tiers. Not a bad view from any spot, really. Your classic black theatre, no frills. My ears were ringing at the end of our concert, so if you're sensitive it's not a bad idea to bring ear plugs.

Yelp

Yelp
Definitely almost died here the last time I frequented this venue while adventure club was playing a show! The bass was just too heavy for this space haha! I thought I could feel the thumps from the beat rearranging my internal Organs! Place gets lit but there is limited seating so you might end up on your feet for 5 straight hours!!! Not my favorite but definitely not bad!!

Yelp
When I first moved here, I was blown away by the Ogden. An old theater? Sweet! Saw some amazing shows that really made this one of my favorite live music venues. The Ogden has continued to attract great acts since then, but the shine has worn off a bit for me. For some reason, this venue tends to attract a more annoying crowd. You know, the drunk air violinist and eardrum-busting screamer. Personal space is completely abandoned here. And the beer list is less than appealing, and the few crafts they do have often have a stale taste because they probably don't move as quickly as a normal bar. Also, the parking situation is one of the worst in Denver more venues, the bus to get here is sketch as all get-out, and the food scene nearby for a pre-show bite is lacking. But enough of the griping. The Ogden is still pretty cool, and does bring in some great acts. Far better the the Fillmore, but much less intimate and character than the Bluebird. And even though the box office is only open 10a-2p on Saturdays or before shows, you at least have this option to skip those crazy online "convenience" fees.

Yelp
I attend a lot of shows. I didn't love this venue. I was in the VIP section for a show and there weren't enough seats for every VIP (?). Literally, every young person in the section wasn't even using their chair and just treating it like a coat hanger. I was there with a family member who is a senior and the show didn't start until super late. I asked several young people if my family member could have their chair to sit in, they all said no, thus pretty much implying we should sit on the floor. As you can see, "great" crowd. I do want to give credit to the super nice guard... when I asked her, she gave up her chair immediately. Really nice woman. I was shocked that there wasn't a server who popped specifically into the VIP section even once during the night to take a drink order, mostly because the bar was far away and required walking pretty far amongst a tight crowd. The venue itself just felt like it needed an upgrade. It was super hot, lots of chipped paint and didn't feel super clean. A little makeover would make this place shine. Sound quality was good, but the Theatre isn't memorable.

Yelp
Cool venue! This was my first ever metal show to attend and the theatre did not disappoint. We hung on the balcony and had perfect views of my boyfriends favorite band, The Architects!

Yelp
This is by far, one of the best, most intimate venues to see a live show. My sister, cousin and I had the pleasure of seeing Rachel Platten & Erik Hutchinson here on Friday night and we all loved the intimate feel, killer lights, full bar offered and a variety of ticket options. we opted for general admission - so we stood the entire concert, which actually proved to be more fun. We danced the night away and were close to the bar. Only downside is that people tend to get a little territorial over their spaces - as one girl proceeded to push down my cousin for stepping in a 10 foot area she tried to save! Come happy, thirsty and ready to experience some great music, acoustics and a generally great atmosphere to enjoy a concert!

Yelp
Went to this theater for the Ziggy Marley concert which was BOMB, by the way. The facility was good.

Yelp
Mmmm, Ogden Theatre. You little piece of magic. I've been coming to the Ogden since before I lived in Denver, and something about this place is just so special to me. As someone who goes out to see a fair amount of live music, this is probably my favorite venue in the Mile High. Why? A list for you: -- They book an awesome mix of local and national acts! I've seen some of my favorite shows EVER here (D'Angelo, Nathaniel Rateliff & the Night Sweats) and feel lucky to have a top notch venue right in my backyard. -- The Ogden is listed in the national register of historic places, so talk about old school vibes! From the marquee to the moldings, the building itself speaks to its long Denver history. -- Their designers rock! I love the aesthetic of the show posters on the wall. They all look of a similar brand, with different twists for each artist. I'd love to own some! -- The sound and light techs do a really great job--shows sound and look good from any part of the venue. I love getting out of the crowd and heading upstairs for a better view. Parking is super tricky in the part of town, especially on nights of big shows. I suggest ubering here--that way you can grab a few cocktails at the bar, too :)

Yelp
This is a fantastic venue, but your opinion on it will really depend on the other venues that you are used to. We came out to the Jack's Mannequin concert from Salt Lake and were really impressed with the space. In Salt Lake, our similar sized concert venues completely suck. They are all essentially flat warehouses. Awful sound, awful views, just really bad. I really liked this place. We arrived about ten minutes before the doors opened to a fairly long line. The doors opened, the line moved quick, and we were soon in. We secured good seats on the balcony...seats!!! Salt Lake venues force you to stand or sit on the nasty floor. Here we had comfortable bar stools and a railing to lean on and put drinks on. It was amazing. The balcony goes all the way around the venue and has great seats. The other amazing thing that we don't have were the different levels of floors. Again, Salt Lake venues are just completely flat warehouses...here you could see 3 or 4 levels of floor, providing great views for just about anyone in the theatre. Just about anywhere you are in this place you should have a good view. The sound was good too. I'm no sound expert, but it definitely sounded better than when we've seen the exact same artist play in Salt Lake. Overall it was an amazing place, when compared to the venues that I'm used to back home. Your view on it may change based on what you're used to, but we were very happy to see a concert here.

Yelp
A concert venue is kind of like a dress. Without anyone filling out, it's just sort of blah. And depending on what kind of person you put inside, it's going to look significantly different from night to night. You get a hot girl on Friday in it and it rocks your socks off. But the fat girl that showed up on Monday, and it left a lot to be desired. Then when TWO GUYS put the damn thing on on Wednesday...while it was slightly awkward I had a blast watching it (but don't tell any of my friends.) Such is The Ogden. It can be super full, it can be empty. It's got lots of great places to stand and sit for shows (get there early and find a seat or a place to stand in the upper balcony, you'll be insanely glad you did. Unless you're 15 and still the type of person who thinks that the quality of the show proportionally decreases with your distance from the area where if you were at a Gallagher show you'd be covered in watermelon. The bar is usually quick and has lots of friendly bartenders, prices are okay, and the vertical stripes are very slimming! The decor inside is...pretty standard for a concert venue. It's nothing spectacular, but it's also not some drab awful place. It's a pretty middle of the road concert venue that won't disappoint, but again, how much you like the Ogden is going to be right in line with how much you like the act there.
