Ognivo

Family run guest house close to most of the city attractions. The walls are thin so you can basically hear everything that is happening next door and they only provide one little duvet for a double bed so we had to ask for a second one. Facilities are really clean and staff is helpful even if english is a problem sometimes. There is a little comunal area so we decided to prepare our own breakfast there as the breakfast they recommend is on the restaurant next door and sometimes they make you wait for a long time. We had a good experience.

Tucked away in a courtyard is this little boutique hotel. Quantity decorated rooms off a bit of a rabbit warren of corridors are clean comfortable with all necessary facilities. Staffing is an interesting part of this hotel - different front staff each day who all seem to be part-timers - but all who are helpful and spoke passable English. The rooms were not serviced every day but I think that was a staffing issue rather than a hotel policy. Breakfast is no longer served and the offer of breakfast in the restaurant next door was odd as the restaurant didn't open until 12 noon. We walked to all the places and shows we wanted to visit in St Petersburg.

Two years ago, we came to Guest House Ognivo with our son. Very impressed with our stay, this year we came with our daughter.|We didn't even look for another hotel. The memory of the very friendly staff, the highly central location close to many important tourist attractions and great value for money made our decision very easy.||We are very happy with our choice and had a lovely stay here. The food was delicious. We look forward to coming back soon. this property is located near metro station and also in walking distance to many attractions like Hermitage museum, palace square, Nevsky prospekt and summer garden. it is also near the river and famous bridges. ||it has a lovely decoration and rooms are comfortable and well designed. we had a triple bedroom, which has a double bed and a bunk bed on the top. it was very shaky, when the one on the top bed rolled, we got up! despite this negative point, every other things about the room was amazing, specially the bath is very nice and comfortable. the design was also very lovely. ||staff were very friendly and helpful, they let us use their kitchen for making some food. the breakfast was simple but tasty.

Guest House Ognivo is a quirky little hotel within walking distance of the attractions in the centre of the city as well as being about a 10 min walk to the nearest metro station.. The staff are friendly and helpful even though limited English sometimes made communications a bit of a challenge. Our room was comfortable and spacious. There is a small communal area and kitchen with cooking top and microwave where simple meals can be prepared. There is a supermarket across the street which makes it easy to buy food for cooking or snacks. Our only problem was finding the hotel when we arrived as there is no obvious signage on the street, or any indication that the entrance is off a courtyard behind Bretzel, the restaurant on the corner of the street. But once we found the entrance we were warmly welcomed. We were given discount coupons for dining at Bretzel and found this restaurant to have great food as well as being convenient for a dinner out.

My fiance and I stayed at Guest House Ognivo for three nights. We found the rooms to be very clean and modern. We especially liked the bathroom which had a good-sized shower with good pressure and plenty of hot water.||||The Guest House is well-located; approximately 1-2km from many of St Petersburg's main attractions.

We stayed one night in Guest House Ognivo in a very spacious, beautifully decorated room with nice bathroom. Breakfast was simle but tasty, served in a nice, small room. ||The hotel has a unique design which is based on a fairy tale "Ognivo" by Hans Christian Andersen. It is probably good to read this tale with kids before coming to Ognivo :)||The owners were very friendly and helpful. Location is good, very close to a big Park called Summer Garden. It is also very close to my favourite place in Saint Petersburg, the Church of the Savior on Blood which is a top attraction in the city.||I would certainly choose this hotel again.

If it wasn't for a determined taxi driver we wouldn't have found this place, We had a booking and an address and there was a sign outside but no door! Like many apartments in St Petersburg there is an unmarked arched gateway (to the right of the sign) and once inside you turn sharp left to the guest house door in the corner. The staff were very friendly, helpful and spoke English (mainly), the rooms comfortable and well appointed with good facilities and the breakfast more than adequate and included some Russian dishes. The historic part of town is all within walking distance and we did not use any transport for sightseeing, going to the ballet or restaurants. I'd certainly stay here again.
