This review is for the Pho. Broth on the salty side. Not enough cilantro and onion. The sides just came with one slice of jalapeno, small basil, and a handful of sprouts. The person behind the counter neglected to give me my sticky mango rice until I have to ask for it at the end. The basil spring roll was decent.

I love the ambience, the smells, and the decor as soon as I entered the restaurant for the first time today. I noticed that some menu items have been awarded. I tried the pho and a garlic ribeye bạnh mi. I ordered a sweet iced tea. Everything was great- some of the very best Vietnamese food I’ve had which is saying a lot coming from a Californian who grew up in Orange County CA. I will definitely come back here as often as I can.

I stopped by to get some Vietnamese food. The place inside looks really nice, with great customer service. I do have to say that their broth tasted watered down, but it was still good. I have to say that their bahmi are really good. The bread and the combination of the ingredients make it delicious.

Google
Quiet and clean restaurant. Staff was friendly and gave great recommendations. I had the P6, a pork roll appetizer and a kombucha. The broth is too die for and will be returning soon!

Food is very authentic. Love their pho and banh mi! I have to mention their background music, sorry, the boss loves Michael Bolton too much🤣

Google
I got the spicy beef short ribs banh mi and it was amazing. It had kimchi in it and was a sandwich I’ll be craving until I eat it again. Great atmosphere!

Google
Careful, if get something with “spicy” in it, you will get something spicy!! I’ve loved both my trips here though. Tastes super fresh and light while still being perfectly filling.

Oh mai has been my favorite for years but tonight was the worst experience, I am so upset. The girl told us after we ordered as we were paying that they actually close a half hour earlier so we have to get takeout so we begrudgingly say okay and wait. This was the saddest cold pho of my life. There is 1 cup of broth not even close to enough to cover the hard cold noodles so everything is cold. Idk what is happening to the quality here but fix your hours!

Yelp
I haven't been here in a few years because the last time I did my Pho had the absolute crappiest meat that I swore it off. Fast forward to today. Nothing has changed. 14.95$ tor a bowl with low quality meat and a few noodles. There are far better options in the Valley for Pho. The Bahn Mi 5 spice sandwiches reported to be good. Last time I will throw money away here.

Yelp
the sinner!!! please try it holy cannoli it is the best bahn mi i have ever tried. the bread had a fabulous texture - it reminds me of lechon! a crispy outer layer that is slightly separated from the inner bread which is also crunchy. i have no idea how to explain it but it was a lovely texture. the filling was bomb - the pork belly MELTED in my mouth and was a great foil to the crunchy veg. oh my god i should've gotten two.

Yelp
Good banh mi place in SLC! There banh mi is flavorful and the meat is flavorful as well. I love the pickled carrots and daikon. They also have pho and it was pretty decent. Lots of street parking here!

Yelp
Stopped by the little shop wanting a quick bite. On the menu is the typical Vietnamese fare (pho, noodle dishes, and banh mi). I decided to go with a banh mi (a classic Vietnamese sandwich) with the honey pork filling. The baguette was crispy yet soft on the inside. The filling was delicious pork with picked carrots, pickled dikon radish, and cilantro. The collective sandwich was amazing. So many incredible flavors that come to together in wonderful harmony. The shop was clean and the service was quick. Just ordered at the counter and took my sandwich to go. If you want to sit they offer plenty of space to relax, and enjoy a fantastic meal.

Yelp
If you're looking for a solid sandwich this is the place. I love the variety on the menu and how the food is packed with flavor.

Yelp
Banh mi were soo sooo good but the vermicelli and pho were ok. Customer service is non existent. Order and grab it yourself with all utensils and condiments on the side. Place smell like sewer. I had to order another banh mi and stop eating pho because the banh mi was so good and pho was so mid

Yelp
I got the famous Garlic Ribeye sandwich and it was killer! Tasted so fresh and I left feeling satisfied but light. Pretty quick service. Coming back for sure Could use some background music though :)

Yelp
Best Bahn Mi in the state, go ahead and name the award after them. I don't even like non toasted sandwiches but I love these. My kids, even the picky ones, like these sandwiches. We love the Bahn Mi sandwiches and feel we're eating a little healthier than a burger and fries. My go to is the S8 Garlic-Ribeye and it is so good. So many yummy flavors, with all the vegetables and sauce. They do add a fresh jalapeño, which I like, but sometimes is a little too hot, but really easy to slide out removing the heat. Listen to these ingredients garlic ribeye, mayo (not heavy at all), caramelized onions, cilantro, pickled carrots and daikons, jalapeños, tomatoes, and black pepper vinaigrette. All on a fresh 8" baguette. My son ordered the Pho and thought it was just okay, but he's only 12, so who knows. The nice lady at the counter was really nice to him and even explained the difference between pho and ramen. Next time he said he's ordering the bahn mi.

Yelp
Best Vietnamese Sandwich in Utah! You won't be disappointed. It's like dining with family but with even better food!

Yelp
Stopped by for takeout. Ordered the short rib banh mi and rainbow salad. Sandwich was perfect. Great crusty bread. Crispy crunchy veggies. Good heat. Salad was beautiful. Fresh and crisp and colorful. Just the right amount of dressing and heat. Very happy I chose Oh Mai today. The price was right and they were nice and friendly!

Yelp
If you're in Salt Lake City and want some pho there aren't a million choices. Oh Mai didn't have the best pho we ever had, but it was good for what was available. The ribeye pho is really just a normal beef pho. It comes out in a paper bowl with the meat already in the soup, but otherwise lots of vegetables and very nice broth. The service was quick and friendly, the prices fair. Next time we are in Salt Lake will probably stop in again!
google avatar

Han F.

Yelp
For the pork sandwich, it was just ok, esp. priced at about $11 each. My partner got the beef and it was also ok. Guess I had higher expectations but came out pretty flat for the amount we paid. The pork was very fish sauce tasting that I expected. The bread was good though.

Doc R.

Yelp
So good. I didn't have high hopes for the pho because we chose this as a last resort since our other favorite places were closed. Surprise it was fantastic! Broth was flavorful. Meat tasty and tender! We got it to go and had no problems separating our broth to warm up hot then adding the meat back into the hot broth. The S1 cold cuts was amazing I want another one and the s9 short ribs was good but too spicy for our liking and we loVvvve spice so that was a new experience. We will be coming back!

Yelp
I know a lot of places are doing more 'encouraged' tipping but I came here with a friend- ordered a noodle bowl first and then my friends ordered the exact same item. He tipped and his food came 12 mins before mine. Lol. It was uncomfortable but maybe that's what you get for not tipping? They eventually came to the table and asked if I hadn't gotten my food yet, and apologized- but there was only one other customer in the restaurant- not a busy time. Mistakes happen, but important to note that the food is still worth it.

Yelp
Wow, their name really will have to saying "oh my" after trying their Banh mi (sandwich). There's no wonder why Guy Fieri featured this restaurant on his TV show. Their "Sinner" Banh mi has super juicy, braised pork belly stuffed with fresh veggies and cilantro, all in a super fresh and soft baguette. We loved how tasty this was and would definitely come back in the future.

Cathy O.

Yelp
We got takeout. The pho was good BUT they put the meat in the broth. Most other places have the thin pieces of raw meat separate. I like it this way because I heat the broth at home since it doesn't stay hot and then add the raw meat to cook. Since the meat was already in the broth, it got overcooked. I will probably not get pho here again for takeout.

Yelp
Wonderful Pho and Banh Mi spot. Came in from a long drive from Vegas, and very good compared what's around. Excellent service and great food .

Yelp
i had high hopes. it's alrightttt. never had a pho this flavor. it was salty sweet and spiced all together. overall i think it's decent pho but def have had better. beef balls were good, beef was dry and didn't have anything else inside the soup. i guess i'm used to having tendon and tripe in pho as well? banh mi was also meh. just nothing amazing. service was good. owner is super nice (:

Yelp
I'm a long time fan of Oh Mai. I remember visiting the original location on state and 33rd ish right after they opened. It was amazing. Killer pho and banh mi. Also crazy low prices. Fast forward to now and there are multiple locations. I went with the pho that had brisket, rib eye and meatballs. For me what makes a good pho is the broth. You know, that complex, spiced liquid that takes hours if not days to make. Unfortunately the pho here fell flat. There was no depth of flavor. The rest of the ingredients were fine. The herb garnish was OK. It didn't include culantro like you find at some pho spots. Lastly everything they served the meal with was disposable. Plastic soup spoon, plastic pho bowl, plastic drink cup, paper garnish tray. I can't imagine that it's cheap to buy all those single use items. Not to mention the environmental impact. I think I'll stick to the banh mi.

Gabrielle L.

Yelp
Literally writing this as I'm eating. I got the pho and got a vegetable roll- AMAZING. and i'm from the bay area where i feel there is a lot of good pho. this place is now one of my new favorites. they also gave me a free extra roll... almost fell to my knees. great service and food was out quick. will definitely return. Couldn't stop moaning whilst preparing the pho to eat. Fucking fire. ALSO i got takeout and it's still fire.

Olivia H.

Yelp
1 star because they don't serve you and they are very stingy with their servings. I ordered pho and they gave me small cups with hoisin sauce and I had to ask for siracha and they gave me just a couple drops of it. I wouldn't come back because of that.
google avatar

Rachel L.

Yelp
Came here off of a friends recommendation with my family -- it was great! Got the garlic ribeye banh mi and the ribeye pho, both delicious. Meat was delicious and the service was quick. Had to ask for sriracha and hoisin (they don't have it readily available) but otherwise great little lunch spot. Parking is a little funny with the lot in the back but ample room.

Yelp
Best place for banh mi and pho in Salt Lake City. And it's actually pretty healthy compared to all the other places that add MSG. Nothing in utah compares. I even ran into someone from Los Angeles and Seattle who specifically come to Utah for their banh mi's. Love the small local mom and pop shops!
google avatar

Joanne T.

Yelp
I came here to grab a banh mi sandwich before my flight. The banh mi was pricy (over $9), but absolutely delicious. The service was kind of slow, but there were only 2-3 employees working.
google avatar

David M.

Yelp
Love the S8 sandwich. If you like cilantro you will love this sandwich. For some reason I like the one on 3425 S and State better.

Sabrina G.

Yelp
Great vegetarian sandwiches I love how they included those. The workers are sweet and the place is beautiful.
google avatar

Yelp
Honestly, it was not what I expected especially since it was on Triple D and voted one of the best Vietnamese restaurants. The broth for the pho lacked a lot of flavor. The noodles and meatballs were good. There was also brisket in there and I didn't really care for it. We got the banh mi Guy Fieri got and it was good, but I definitely have had better. I appreciated the thin bread and the flavor of the meat coming together with the jalapeño, pickled veg, and mayo. I wish all their banh mi's came with the pate because that's what makes the Vietnamese banh mi so good!! The honey pork vermicelli was okay. I wish they didn't cut up the vermicelli into bite size. I think the meat was too sweet and a little dry and the nuoc mam did not have the traditional taste to it. The house made kimchi had way too much fish sauce flavoring and it was dry. Overall, I was disappointed. The environment was very dark also and there was construction happening, which i didn't mind, but it was not inviting.
google avatar

Mikey W.

Yelp
I'm torn. Not bad pho by any means just nothing special. The other things available could be better though (but since I haven't tried them I'll leave that for someone else). I ordered the brisket pho, which they said is one of their top menu items. The broth is pretty good actually, though they topped it off with a bunch of unnecessary black pepper which overshadowed it. The brisket was tender and tasty though not rare and the portion felt good. All in all not bad. The food is served in takeout containers and disposable spoons, which I think does them a disservice but it's not a dealbreaker. A good place to get quick food but not likely a place to frequent unless you work nearby.

Yelp
Looking for a quick and easy meal? Look no further! This Vietnamese fusion restaurant has so much to offer. I was drawn by their banh mi sandwiches. Came in during covid. They only take to go orders. Phone in, pre pay, East pick up. They have an extensive menu. But on a hot summer day we opted for their banh mi sandwich. Make sure to try their Garlic Rib Eye. So packed with flavor. Perfect combo of their pickled veggies and the rib eye meat is cooked to perfection. Would not change anything about this dish. Definitely worth stopping by if you're in Salt Lake City. They also have a variety of other locations around the city to choose from. Thanks Oh Mai!

Yelp
Went to Oh Mai this evening because it is near our hotel and our usual Vietnamese spot is closed on Mondays. The restaurant is dimly lit, with chairs stacked on tables because -- despite there being ample room for distancing -- it is still take-out only. Service was fast but functional; no greeting or small talk, just get your food and get out. Even though they are clearly COVID conscious, the contactless payment system still didn't work (it wasn't working six months ago, either), so you have to hand your card to the person behind the counter. The most popular item on the menu, the Vietnamese fresh rolls, was not available even though it was only 5:30 pm. The sandwiches were pretty good, but the pho was a total pass: insipid is the word that comes to mind. It was expensive too -- two sandwiches and two bowls of noodles came out to $35. In short, this restaurant isn't one I'll go back to again. I liked the sandwich, but not enough to put up with the corner-cutting and the humorless service.

Yelp
I've been to this Oh Mai location a handful of times and each time has been delicious. I usually get the brisket banh mi and it's always good. I wanted to try the spring rolls my last two visits, including today since I had a bogo deal. Both last time in the evening and today soon after opening, they said they were out. I'm not sure why or what's going on there, but they were kind enough to replace the two orders of spring rolls with a banh mi and it came out quickly! This place is definitely a go-to for my banh mi cravings.

Yelp
My husband and I went here on a Thursday around 11:30. They had just opened and we were the only people in the restaurant. Shortly after we ordered more people showed up. I ordered the chicken curry vermicelli bowl and my husband ordered a banh mi. I can say this was not the best vermicelli bowl I've ever had, but it wasn't horrible either. I still finished it all. A little pricey for what is was. My husband loved his sandwich. It was the one guy fieri likes. He said it was one of the best he has had. If I decide to go back, I will definitely be ordering a banh mi next time.

Aya H.

Yelp
I love these sandwiches! They are fresh and delicious. My only complaint would be the price, but I think for the quality Oh Mai provides it's worth it.
google avatar

Michelle N.

Yelp
The garlic ribeye steak and spicy beef short rib banh mi are always my go-to and they never disappoint. I've had the pho here and it's alright but not my #1. I typically order over the phone and it's ready within 10 minutes or so. The employees have always been nice here and they have a rewards program!
google avatar

Shirley H.

Yelp
I'm a big fan of the curry chicken banh mi. The fresh vegetables against the sweet coconut curry is divine. It makes for a great lunch and is priced reasonably. I've had their pho twice and was let down both times. Broth can really make or break a bowl of pho. Their broth is like soy sauce and water and msg... I can't taste the bone broth that should be the base. I recommend Oh Mai only for their banh mi. I've had bites of other kinds like the cold cut (had traditional Vietnamese sandwich meat) and they're all good, but curry chicken is my favorite. If I want to eat pho, I'd go somewhere else.
google avatar

Donald F.

Yelp
Had a delicious lunch at Oh Mai with my adult daughter. We split two Banh Mi sandwiches, an S9 Spicy Beef Shortrib and an S11 The Sinner which has braised pork belly. Both were superb but both of us liked the Beef Short Rib best. Although we did not see it on the online menu, make sure you get the pho dipping sauce. The Banh Mi's were great by themselves but the Pho Dipping Sauce raised them to an even higher level of deliciousness. Absolutely get the dipping sauce. Would definitely return again. The interior is nothing to write home about but I doubt anyone seeks this restaurant out for its ambiance. The only downside is parking. Street parking is minimal but there's ample parking in the rear which can be found by following a maze. Highly recommend!
google avatar

Kath L.

Yelp
Authentic Vietnamese food and perfect for our large group! Friends who were new to Vietnamese food loved the flavors and spice. Will definitely enjoy again.
google avatar

Manny G.

Yelp
To be honest I was not expecting much, I figured this is Salt Lake City how can they compete with the bay area? Well I was totally of. This place is legit. The special fresh beef spring roll was amazing. The 5 spice chicken salad was on point. All around excellent place. The man at the register is super chill and the staff are all very friendly. Excellent value with generous portions. Can't wait to return.
google avatar

Michelle F.

Yelp
Delish! Their garlic ribeye Banh Mi is legit. I also tried the curry chicken Banh Mi and it was legit as well. The Banh Mi's are huge and big enough for two people to share one. BUT I suggest getting a full one to yourself. They are decently priced too. In San Francisco we typically pay $2-$3 MORE for a drastically smaller Banh Mi. I wish I had time to try their Pho! Another go to spot in Utah for me.
google avatar

Park N.

Yelp
Worst asian food ever! The banh mi was not even fresh...the pho broth did not hit the spot. I would not recommend going here. Just moved here from Orange County and trust I know Vietnamese food. Save your money
google avatar

Steve G.

Yelp
We were in town for the weekend and wanted something comforting. We found Oh Mai in a very small , out of the way area. Pho was great. We thought we wanted a sandwich to go with it, but decided to take it back to the room for supper. The atmosphere is very eclectic and the staff was very friendly. Answered questions without an attitude. We will definitely go back when in Salt Lake City
google avatar

Jeff B.

Yelp
Refused to give me sriracha with my pho even though there was a large bottle on their counter. They told me the company went out of business. They lied to me for reasons I cannot understand. Don't go here.
google avatar

Ashley E.

Yelp
This place is so good! I knew immediately I was going to love it when I saw the bonafide stamp of approval from DDD (my dude, Guy Fieri). We ordered the short rib (because of the kimchee) and the lemon grass tofu bon mi. On a whim I threw in the pho dip. Y'ALL. That pho dip is life changing! It was so gooood. It added so much warmth and flavor to both sandwiches. Seriously, get it. Their online ordering system is super easy to figure out, and the service was fast and efficient. I need to go back to try Guy's favorite, the garlic ribeye.

Jess P.

Yelp
The cashier was nice but the pho wasn't my favorite. For me it was lacking flavor. Also they didn't have siracha. I know there's a shortage but it could've definitely use some. The broth is more peppery and plain than beefy. Usually for me a good pho can be eaten without any seasoning but this one was in need of seasoning.
google avatar

Victoria M.

Yelp
We came to this location today for lunch. The cashier was training a new employee. Nvm that I didn't mind. It was pretty empty - but none of the tables seemed as if they had been wiped down, which threw me off since there was a lady sweeping the floor as I walked in. So maybe they forgot to wipe down the tables? Well again, nvm that. But I was put off by the fact that 3 items cost us $20 with a discount from my five star account. Why? I also noticed that the banh mi cost about 7-8 bucks which is pretty silly since we are used to buying banh mi from California for abt 3-4 bucks. So yeah, that was a bit strange. Also, my husband said the chicken pho was bland and the iced coffee wasn't even strong. Idk this experience just kind of put me off. Another watered down eatery with marked up prices. So, with that said, I'm not sure I like this place enough to come back again.
google avatar

Julia M.

Yelp
Nothing Bad, But nothing Special. In my opinion, the broth makes the pho, and this was a bit salty. If I come back, It'll be to try a Banh mi Sandwich. Disappointed no Vietnamese coffee, Thai tea, boba available. Also small portion/value for prices.
google avatar

Aria S.

Yelp
Was sooo exciting to come here and boy it did NOT disappoint! There were just so many vegetarian and vegan options! One for each of their categories: bahn mi, pho, vermicelli noodles, and rice entree. Even multiple :) A lot of Vietnamese places use beef broths or fish sauces so this was not the case here. After that, i noticed the prices! Everything was under $10. Bahn mi starting at $6. That's incredible. Idk if it's cause I'm from SF and you can't even get like a pack of gum for that price but it was refreshing and nice to save some dough for the slopes :) Ok finally the food!! I was really flavorful, delishhh and hit the spot on a cold Wintery day.

Yelp
Went here because my "go to Viet" place La Cai Noodle House was closed for staff summer vacation. Struggled to find the parking lot. Which you enter from an alley way on 800 S. We had P6 Pho. The flavor was good, but it was way too oily! I was also a little disheartened that they use plastic bowls and plastic utensils. The plastic cheapened the overall experience - not to mention what all that plastic does for the environment. They had a mango and sticky rice dessert which was pretty good. I just forgot to take a picture. Overall: Meh... Better than some. Not as good as others. Still sad my go to place was closed.
