Oh My Cod!

We visited Oh My Cod today, and the fish and chips were definitely worth the wait! Turns out, today was the last day of the season, but despite that, only two items were unavailable. Since the name says it all, we came in ready for fish and chips. They offered cod or haddock, and we went with the cod. The portions were extra large, and the service was fast and friendly. I also noticed the owner stopping by each table, making sure everyone was happy with their meal. If you're ever in Mahone Bay, give this place a try!

This was our first visit to Oh My Cod! and it won’t be our last! We loved that they came out on the deck to greet us and welcomed us in. It felt like they were inviting us into their home! I couldn’t decide on my drink and she gave me a sample of the cider to try. Our fish and chips was delicious, fresh, and generous serving size. The decor was lovely and it was very clean! The owner came over to chat with us to make sure we were satisfied with everything. Very nice touch!

Excellent dining experience! My husband and I stopped for lunch. I ordered the lobster 🦞 shrimp 🍤 mac'n'cheese. So creamy and loaded with seafood. The owner stopped by each table to make sure all was A+. Our server was very attentive and even the chef popped her head out and said, "Thanks so much for coming." 1st rate establishment.

Oh My Cod is a charming, little restaurant with indoor and outdoor seating with a waterview and has a nice atmosphere.  We got seated quickly,  but there was a lineup upon leaving. The menu has a good variety to choose from with decent prices.  I had the Lobster & Shrimp Mac and Cheese.  My meal was fresh, the seafood was very tasty, the heat was perfect, and the portion was generous and filling.  Our server was friendly, and the service was quick enough.  Everything was good except for the shrimp being forgotten on our guest's salad.

I am visiting from Thorold, Ontario visiting my sister in New Germany Nova Scotia. I have heard nothing but great reviews about Oh My Cod, a quaint little spot. I will say I was not disappointed. We were seated by Michelle, who was new to the restaurant and she was so lovely and helpful. She was such a delight and the owner so friendly. He to was also from Ontario he actually knew where I lived. We sat, we ordered. We had fish and chips (1 haddock and 1 cod) and lobster and chorizo poutine and muscles. Fish was so fresh and delicious. The batter was crispy, fries were fresh cut, coleslaw and tartar made from scratch! I honestly cannot say enough good words about this beautiful little find. Such great food, great atmosphere, and awesome service. This I have to say was well worth visiting. Thanks Leslie and Vern for this beautiful lunch spot. Trust me, you will not be disappointed. A must try. So come one come all. I give this lovely spot a 5 out of 5. Try it, I know you'll love it. Thanks again so much and will definitely return as soon as I can. I was recently visiting a dear friend in Halifax from Philadelphia and told her I wanted some good seafood. She took me to Oh My Cod! in Mahone Bay, and it did not disappoint. The staff was super friendly and accommodating, and we were able to sit out back on the water. I then had the best seafood chowder I've ever had in my life. It was full of all different kinds of fresh fish, including lobster and the perfect broth...not too thick and super flavorable. My friend's fish tacos were stuffed with beautifully fried haddock. We had a fabulous lunch, and I would come back for a meal the next time I'm visiting Nova Scotia!

Smash Burger has 2 patties w bacon. Mmmm so good. Support small business.

Food was way under expectations. Fried cod tasted like frozen fish and not evenly fried. My fish still had chunks of dried dough. Fries are either over cooked or oil was dirty. Very dark and dry. Total costed us 2 hrs to have a lunch. Not worth of time.

FABULOUS Lobster croissant-wich with at LEAST a full pound of delectable lobster, Thai Veggie Soup was SO good that we ordered more to take home. Friendly staff...loved the dancing kitchen cook too! Will visit from Halifax again soon!

There are no reservations allowed, but we were lucky to catch one of the bigger tables leaving so we were able to order within 30min of arriving. Our server was fast and efficient, and really went out of her way to make sure we were comfortable. I ordered the fish and substituted the chips with chowder. Fish was well battered and super crispy but still moist and delicious. Portion sizes are generous so we ended up with a couple takeout boxes. Great clam chowder and worth the upgrade!

It's a shame I didn't realize that the portions were so Gigantic because I would have gladly paid full price for just a half portion of two of the items we shared for lunch. Luckily the Inn where we are staying has a microwave that we can use to reheat the delicious Lobster & Shrimp Mac&Cheese that we ordered. It was very cheesy with just a touch of heat and a crispy panko topping. There seamed to be more lobster than shrimp- which is a good thing! Our very nice and fun server Kathy set us up with not only a takeaway box but some wooden utensils to use back at the Inn. The other over the top item were the Mussels. They were sautéed in butter, parsley, garlic and white wine and were very good. We managed to finish off the majority of these guys! The two other people in our party each had a Brie Grilled Cheese sandwich with bacon, red onion, jam and apple. Again in addition to being gigantic they were delicious. There are many more fantastic sounding items on the menu and it's a spot you should really check out.

Great little spot in Mahone Bay!! Wow! We had the lobster Mac n cheese, fish tacos and bacon wrapped scallops. I would recommend them all. For the scallops I asked to substitute the fries with their clam chowder. Their chowder is also VERY good. The only critique I have is the bacon on the scallops wasn't cooked enough for me. The scallops were huge though and I'd order it again. They are closing down for the winter Oct 29.

This place was such a gem! Great atmosphere and the food was amazing! Some of the best seafood we had on our girls trip to Nova Scotia.

Very rude manager! Kept clients waiting in a queue while tables are empty with the excuse that it might rain and he is protecting his staff! He refused to open the water front patio as well. We ended up leaving and so many others as we don't know when we will be able to be seated! It's sad!

Over 45 minutes for our food to arrive. That's after waiting in line for 30 minutes. There was more batter than fish and the fish was mushy, not flaky at all.

I choose my afternoon hikes in close proximity to this restaurant. It never disappoints!!

Small but quick. Great service despite a small wait. In fairness it was a wet day and outdoor tables were unable to be fully utilized. That said the sisters and I had a fine feed of fish. They had the haddock and I the cod. After all it's not Oh my Haddock!! The fries were insanely good and the fish tasted as good as it looked . Definitely a must stop for lunch spot when near Mahone Bay

We were headed to Halifax and decided to stop for lunch. Read about this place on Yelp. I mean how do you not stop at a place called "Oh My Cod!"? Glad we stopped. Best Fish n Chips I've ever had. In fact we've been in Nova Scotia for 5 weeks and this is the best meal I've had here. Staff was also very good. Friendly, efficient, and professional.

Delicious lobster roll. Fantastic French fries. Only knocked a star off because it was extremely loud inside with banging plates, pans and echoing walls. Even so, I'd go back but sit outside

First time there tonight, this was the best fish and chips I have ever had! The batter was super thin and crispy, the fish was cooked perfectly, brother in law has the seafood chowder, it was outstanding as well. Waitress was lovely and very attentive...will definitely be back sooner rather than later. Well done Oh My Cod!

Great fish tacos. Offers large portions. Fish and chips. Yummy. Many people love the lobster poutine. Too rich for me so I tend to stick with the delicious tacos.

We were HUNGRY. Luckily this place popped up. I had amazing fish and chips. My husband had lobster Mac and cheese. We were both satiated. Sad that i am just visiting; this is the kind of place you could delight in time and time again. The only slight negative is that there is but one single stall bathroom for all guests.

My husband and I stopped here for a very late lunch on our way to Liverpool, Nova Scotia. Overall, the food was really good. We got into Mahone Bay a bit later than planned due to construction on the 103, and we were scheduled to have dinner at my husband's uncle and aunt's place in Liverpool a few hours later, so we shared the Fish Tacos ($15.25) and a bowl of the soup of the day ($9) which was a pureed carrot, pear and beet soup. There were 2 fish tacos per order, so we had one each. We opted for the cod, but the other option was haddock. I asked for the chipotle sauce on the side. The tacos also came with fries. The taco shell was a soft flour tortilla and the filling was some red cabbage slaw and fresh arugula along with a large piece of battered and deep-fried cod. The fish was delicious, really crispy on the outside, and soft and flakey on the inside. I liked the crunch of the slaw and the peppery zing of the arugula. I added the tiniest bit of chipotle sauce and it was perfect. The fries were excellent. They were skin on and really crispy. Maybe a bit too salty, but otherwise great. Unfortunately, I did not enjoy the soup at all, so my husband ended up having practically all of it. I didn't like the grittiness, which was probably due to the pears. I also felt that the flavours didn't go well together. However, my husband loved it, so it depends on your tastes. Service was quick and efficient. We were surprised at how busy the restaurant was at 3pm on a weekday. I think everyone was a tourist like us though ;) They sell ice cream too, but we didn't have any. They only have 1 single unisex and accessible bathroom, so there was always a line up. I'm glad I wasn't sitting at the table right by the bathroom! They have their own parking lot to the right and behind the restaurant but it was packed, not paved, and down a steep slope, so we ended up parking on the street (I think it was free, we didn't pay and didn't get ticketed, lol). FYI: The parking lot to the left which is paved, with painted lines, and looks very nice belongs to BMO, and is reserved for their customers only. I love puns, so I was first drawn to this restaurant because of the name, but I ended up really enjoying the fish tacos. The soup was not to my liking, but I'd say that's due to personal preferences, because the hubby loved it. Mahone Bay is super touristy, so it was much busier than I expected for a small town. We were lucky to find street parking across the street, but I can see how parking can be tricky during high tourist season. We were there mid-July. Also, there were a lot of people just milling about, talking and/or eating ice cream on the streets, completely oblivious to cars trying to get by. This is obviously not the restaurant's fault, so this fact does not affect the rating, but I'm just writing it here, so you are aware of the possible terrain you will have to traverse to get to the restaurant, lol.

Best fish tacos around! This little gem in Mahone Bay was a great stop for lunch. We also enjoyed the Brussel sprout tacos. Delicious. The service was awesome and loved sitting outside on the Bay.

Visiting Mahone Bay and the consensus was we had to eat here. I wish they would have the option of a half portion, or appetizer size lobster/shrimp Mac and cheese...we ordered it to share as an app and it was massive. It was excellent, but what would have taken it to next level is to toast the panko and broil it a touch in the oven to melt the additional cheese on top. The fish and chips, and fish tacos were fine...(I expected amazing). The fish and chips was under seasoned (according to hubby) and all the coleslaw and dressing was on the bottom of the taco, so if you didn't take a full bite, you got just dry wrap and fish. Easily rectified by spreading the dressing/coleslaw on the entire wrap instead of dumping into the bottom. Kid's Mac and cheese a big hit with our 10yr old.

We had a very pleasant lunch here. The restaurant was very busy and there was a line waiting to be seated when we arrived. We sat on the front porch under an umbrella. I ordered the large portion of the cod fish and chips and my husband ordered one of the poutines. Our food arrived in a reasonable amount of time considering how busy the restaurant was. My fish and chips was one of the best I've ever had. It was tender, flakey and just came out of the fryer. The large portion was enough for two people to have a light lunch. My husband ate some of my fish and only a small portion of the poutine. He took the rest of it home and made another meal of it. Incidentally while we were waiting the manager came out and put a rope over the doorway essentially closing the restaurant to any new diners. This was done because of the heat buildup in the kitchen. I would definitely get here for another meal, but get here early if it's a nice warm day or you may miss out.

DELICIOUS seafood! Fresh seafood that is prepared to perfection! Chowder is a full meal loaded with buttery lobster, scallops, loads of fish and mussels. The best fish n chips you can ever have- Fish is fabulous with a crispy thin batter- The warm and friendly service only adds to the outstanding dining experience of this local GEM!!! Big thanks to Paul and the amaaaaazing staff at OH MY COD! The wait to get in is very justifiable and worth it on ever level!!! Yes deserts- ice cream flavors and cakes are in a class of their own.

Best lobster and shrimp Mac n Cheese. The service was the best, always checked on us to make sure we were getting the best from them.

Really great restaurant for seafood. I heard you have to wait a long time but luckily I didn't have to. Staff are great and attentive. I had the lobster mac and cheese, and it was so cheesy good. Large pieces of lobster and loads of melted cheese. The pasta was a bit on the soft overcooked side, but I could attribute that to it continued baking.

A great surprise! It looked like many of the places on the road, but we were hungry. There was a line, since the restaurant is small, but the food and the flavors are superb! Their seafood chowder was one of the best I have tried. Their food was delicious and their servers were excellent. They were swamped but always worked hard to ensure you didn't need anything. The owner made a point to stop at every table to talk to each guest. "Old school" manners you don't see very often anywhere. More impressive, since most of his customers then were all tourists. Very nice touch. One of the best meals I had on this trip. Excellent food!! Excellent service!! If not hungry stop for their ice cream at least!

Try the lobster and chorizo poutine. Just try it. Amazing fish and chips as well. But that poutine....

We ate here during our bike trip today The place was packed and it seemed to take longer to usual to get served I had the burger and fries which was great The burger was perfect and the fries were some of the best I've ever eaten. The clams and fries were delicious. ! Best clams I have eaten in a long time ! Thank you !

We popped in here for lunch as a change from our normal Mahone Bay spot. It's a bright inviting space and the service is super friendly and welcoming. It's cafe-like in its size and decor, and it doesn't really try to be a full service restaurant with one menu that extends through lunch and dinner, hours from 11am to 8pm. However, the menu is pretty broad if you like seafood, not so good for carnivores, but why would they go to a place named after a fish anyway? They have one vegetarian option and a couple of things that could be adapted or made gluten friendly, maybe. My cod burger was really good and the fries were excellent. Generally prices are a bit on the high side for the region but still within reason. There is a kids menu with alternatives to fish if you have some picky eaters. Looks like we now have two eating stops when in Mahone Bay!

I have been here before and remember it being good but this time was amazing. Super busy on a Sunday evening but they managed to get our party of 6 looked after. Many of us have the scallops wrapped in bacon with a Spinach salad while my wife had the cod taco. Amazing service, drinks and food .... What more could you want?

We were so pleased with our visit to this fantastic seafood restaurant. 5 stars would not be high enough to add the true value of business. The service was top of the line and the best fish toco's I have ever tried . And here's the kicker Lobster croissant is number one. Thanks ! We will be back soon!!

Average food, average service, pricey for a typical 2-egg breakfast. Strictly for the tourists. Best thing about this place is the location and the name: It'll bring a smile to your face and bring people through the door.

My wife and I have been in Nova Scotia for a little over a month now. For a seafaring nation we found the seafood dishes to be but average. Which has been a disappointment. Saturday, on our way from Yarmouth to Halifax we stumbled upon this little gem. We both had the fish and chips with cod. Amazing. Both the fries and chips were crunchy without being oily. Good flavor and texture. And there was always a line...which the staff handled very professionally. High Marks for the "Oh My Cod!" crew!

We Just drove 5 hours direct from Baddeck up on Cape Bretton Islandto come here for lunch. I wish I could have given them 6 stars. It was that good. Our friends had come here last year and raved about the fish and chips. There were so many amazing options on the menu we ended up sharing the seafood chowder and I had the scallops. Just to be clear this was the best bowl of soup I have had in my life. If you come here definitely get the soup. It is made to order. Unbelievable!!!!! And the scallops were equally good and my wife's clams and chips were also fantastic. I think we might have to come back for lunch tomorrow. One of the best meals on our vacation.

Wow! A total must, something for all and family & dog friendly!!! The mussels are so delicious my 7 year old asked for a second serving instead of desert ;) lol My daughter ate all her fish before even touching her fries, she's 5 and ordered the full size meal. My spouse had the clams and we all dived into his plate...he's a fisherman and was very happy with the freshness of the seafood. I saved the best last , the lobster poutine, is really the best! Im originally from Québec and I'm so picky about my poutine but this one is to die for. Real cheese curds from top to BOTTOM. The sauce is creamy & light, the lobster tastes tender & fresh and the sausage is very generous! The kids adored desert and the service was impeccable given our chaotic young family atmosphere. I almost forgot the view, you have to see for yourself, its picturesque!

Stopped by on our way to Lunenburg. The name piqued my interest. The fish and chips were just perfect. Thin crispy shell and delicious fish on the inside. Cod also just as tasty in the fish tacos. Fries were good too. Tar tar sauce a bit heavy on the capers. Spinach salad good but nothing special.

Oh My Cod was recommended to us by Chris at the shoe store in Mahone Bay, he mentioned his favorite dish, Lobster Poutine... among others. the Lobster Poutine hit it out of the park, we still cannot stop talking about it, it was phenomenal, and the serving size was very generous, the flavor... incredible! We also had fish tacos which did not disappoint. excellent service with a great big smile and great personality by Sarah. seriously recommend this place, I would return many times if I lived closer!

Terrific in every way. 5 of us all enjoyed our meals. The lobster croissant was served with a delicious salad. The cod came with the best fries. Mom had the clam and fries. She felt the clams were too small and a little dry. The fish tacos were a hit. Tony our server was wonderful. Loved the dishes and accessories. The decor was lovely and the location was perfect. We will be back!

Was diving through Mahone Bay this afternoon and had a hankering for ice cream. Saw some people sitting outside so we turned around and went in. What a cute little place very clean. The owner that served us was super friendly and the ice cream was delicious. We will definitely be back . Would much rather support local businesses that have great food and service rather than the big corporations that offer little to nothing in that area.

We have eaten here a quite a few times when we summer in Nova Scotia. The haddock is wonderful. I have tried their fish tacos, and the fish and chips. My husband likes to go for the lobster macaroni and cheese. I highly recommend the place. The staff are great and the restaurant is comfortable. Now with COVID the staff are wearing masks and there is plenty of room between the tables, plus the offer outdoor seating.

The beer batter cod was delicious, crispy and thin batter and moist fish. The scallops were done perfectly as well. And loved hand cut fries. The staff were friendly and accommodated our takeout order on our road trip, even offering a couple suggestions of things to see :)

Beautiful setting, friendly service, and decent food. The seafood chowder was good, but needed more of the "good stuff" than one scallop and one lobster claw...it's heavier on the mussels and haddock. For $18.50 a bowl, it's overpriced for what your get. The kid had the cod burger and it was a solid choice...Well prepared and not too thick on batter. Great fries for sure. Overall, it's a good spot for a quick meal in Mahone Bay, but we would get something other than the chowder.

Best fish and chips I've ever had. Even better than Go Fish near Granville Island in Vancouver. Everything about our lunch today was perfect. Loved the restaurant, the fish and chips were delicious (even the slaw and the tartar sauce), our server was great, and this little town is beautiful! Great day! Thanks!

I asked the server to make my burger as "rare as you dare". This, to them, obviously means "just leave it on the grill and let tectonic drift take it to the customer." My wife's lobster omelette was as lacking in lobster as the Mojave is lacking in water. They seemed to be doing a brisk business in ice cream, but we didn't come there for ice cream.

Slap yo mama good! The lobster and chorizo poutine is AAAAAMAZING!! Wife likes the fish tacos. Don't miss it!

We stopped by here on our east coast travels and the service was great I had the fish and chips (Cod). Fantastic! The homemade coleslaw and tartar sauce was great I've included a photo of my lunch

Great waterfront dining with small but complete menu. Kids raving about Mac and cheese which are cheesy and served in small iron cast pot. For me seafood chowder made the day. Not heavy and full of great bounty of the sea.

We had an excellent lobster roll in crossaint bun. The craft beer was superb. We really enjoyed the outback patio with a view of the harbor behind us. The server was friendly and gave us some pointers on where to find homemade ice cream. Much appreciated.

Stumbled upon this place thanks to yelp. Food was fantastic and well priced. Service was wonderful. All seats on the outdoor porch were spoken for, but the indoor seating was nice. Still had a nice view of the bay. Save room for dessert. The pies were amazing.

The food was tasty, the servers were very pleasant but the owner was very rude not once but twice, and that's a deal breaker for me! We arrived at 2pm party of 8 looking for a table on the ocean side I was informed that "that's not going to happen" ok so what can we do? Well if you don't mind waiting we can have a table on the street side in about 15 mins and pointed for us to wait on the side walk... ok so yes he was a bit rude but they're busy so I kinda brushed it off then while waiting one of our group is looking over to see how close we are to being seated and the guy says " staring is not going to get your table any quicker" The only reason we stayed is for a friend who was on crutches! I understand from the staff that this man is the owner so I'd like to remind this owner that there are great places to eat all over Mahone Bay and Lunenburg with a whole lot less attitude!
