Ohio Club

We visited at 1pm on the Saturday after Christmas. We were greeted and seated right away by a cheerful hostess. I had the peach tea cocktail and it was a great balance of iced tea, peach schnapps and whiskey. It had a great flavor and plenty of the good stuff! My partner had the smoked Old Fashioned with a whiskey a step above the well standard. The old fashioned flaming at the table was a fun addition to the already warm atmosphere. We ordered the Ohio Burger and Mahi Mahi sandwich. Both meals were fresh and delicious. The burger was cooked to our exact requested doneness. The Mahi Mahi was blackened and served on a soft hoagie roll. The fish was a good portion size. I will definitely order it next time. There are lots of sides to choose from, but we both opted for the French fries which were well-seasoned, hot and crispy. Our server was friendly and attentive. All the servers were kind and helped each other which made the Ohio Club a really great place for a good lunch in Hot Springs.

This historic nightspot is a fun place to get a good burger. Although it can be loud and crowded, I feel like it’s a must-see while in Hot Springs, especially if someone is interested in gangster history. The bar is beautiful and noteworthy, due to its size. I usually attend when in town and had a perfect burger and fries on this visit.

The oldest bar in the state of Arkansas. We went out of our way just to visit The Ohio Club to get a burger. I ordered the Old Fashioned burger with bacon and a side of tots. It was cooked well and was very good. The tots were not special. My son ordered the Hangover burger, which featured an over easy egg. The yolk was runny and he absolutely loved it. We we were passing through, so no cocktails. The server was young and did a good job, but we overheard a more seasoned server talking to a group and it was like listening to a history teacher. She was really knowledgeable. I would go back to The Ohio Club when I had more time to try some of their cocktails.

First of all, their espresso martini is the best I’ve ever had anywhere. I am not kidding is tastes like coffee ice cream. Their Bloody Mary’s are to die for with the fixins that come on it. It was delicious. Their BURGERS are juicy and the tomatoes taste fresh and flavorful. This is a history rich tavern with all sorts of history, old objects, and things to look at throughout the building. It’s perfect for some entertainment and good food. Oh! And the bar back is hand carved mahogany and is beautiful. There’s so much here and I highly recommend! I felt the pricing was very fair - especially for the quality and other factors they offer.

The food was okay... nothing to write home about, but the atmosphere? Absolutely iconic. I will note the spicy green beans were SO GOOD. The Ohio Club is dripping with history, and if you're even slightly into vintage charm, mobster lore, or old barroom vibes, you'll be hooked. From the massive hand-carved mahogany bar that was hauled here by barge and horse (yes, really), to the wild stories of gangsters, gamblers, and even presidents hanging out here...this place is a living time capsule. Every corner has something cool to look at, and you can feel the stories in the walls. Drinks were solid and definitely worth the price, staff was friendly, and even though the food didn’t blow us away, it’s still a great lunch stop just for the ambiance and the conversation starter it is. You don’t just eat here ... you step into history.

Iconic bar restaurant on bath House Alley. Drinks are a little pricey, they also sell glasses and t-shirts and even charge for small stickers. If I drop $50 at the bar and leave a $15 tip, it sure would be nice if you would give me a $2 sticker. Unfortunately, that's the impression I left with. Next time I'm in Hot Springs I'll give it another shot.

Decently crowded when we went for lunch. I haven't experienced it at night or late night, so maybe its different during those hours. But, for lunch, its overpriced. None of the food was bad or anything like that. Just average to good bar food but a few dollars more expensive per dish than normal. Ill try and go back at night for a different experience, but not for lunch.

Ate a late breakfast just down the street and walking by we decided to stop in for bloody Mary’s as we had never been here when visiting HS. I always wanted to as I’m intrigued by the w Mafia history. What a great spot!! The ultimate bloody Mary’s did not disappoint at all. Perfect blend w spices and Tajin rim served w a k-bob of yummies w cheese, pickles, sausage, bacon, cucumbers, olives. Super cool atmosphere and some awesome bartenders. Look forward to returning for dinner sometime.

Giving it 5 stars for the food at atmosphere alone! I decided to try the Rueben sandwich instead of my safe option (mushroom Swiss burger) because it seemed like people raved about it and why not try something new for me, and OH NY GAWD, this was the most delicious sandwich PERIOD. No not just the best Rueben ever, but the best sandwich out of all the sandwiches ever created (too far? I think not.) HIGHLY recommend getting the Rueben if you come here or anything with their corned beef, and you can't go wrong . The Ohio Club is rather a small joint, but full of history and character. I highly recommend reading more about their history in their website but it's definitely a cool place to visit and enjoy a delicious meal! A band also plays upstairs (I believe only in the evenings Thursday through Sunday).

Stopped by after taking a walk in the city. It's a cool music bar. We paid $5 cover charge to come in. We got lucky and found a table since it was a really busy night. The cool part about this bar is that they have TVs of the stage so you still get to enjoy the show if you're not close to the artists. The food is surprisingly delicious and they are huge portions.

The vibe is warm, rugged, and steeped in nostalgia. Live music plays Thursday through Monday. THE FOOD. - Reuben | Slices of corned beef layered with Swiss cheese and sauerkraut. Flavors are on point. Highly recommend. - The Bugsy | Slices of corned beef and pastrami with Swiss cheese. Similar to the Reuben sandwich, but it would've been cool with a bit of sauerkraut for added tanginess. - French Fries | Ordered as a separate side because the sandwiches come with a side of chips. Golden crisp with a soft interior. THE DRUNK DRINKS. - Sam Watt Ginger Drop Martini | Sweet and sour. - Al Capone | Similar to an Old Fashioned. - Dirty Bastard Scotch Ale | Dark and smoky with a malty distinction. - Blue Moon | Wheat forward with citrusy flavors. - Mirassou Pinot Noir | Fruity with hints of oak and vanilla. THE PARKING. Street parking available, but we just walked over from our hotel next door. COMING BACK? Yes, cool vibe and food was great.

History Bang Bang in the Making. Come see the movie that was. A bar named after a custom carved wooden bar breakfront Johnny Depp's pirate would approve as it had a tale as tall as he would tell. A bar named after a piece of wood. By golly yes. You see this wooden bar backing was spotted, purchased and procured from the Great State of Ohio, then hauled down the Mississippi, then put on a wagon, but oops no wagon could muster its weight so a custom wagon had to be built only because an actual TRAIN (the current size at that time) couldn't accommodate it. Then once the wooden monster arrived at its final destination, it was found the entrance could not accommodate the structure so (get this) the front of the building had to be removed (and replaced) so she could be installed. And here she rests & aptly named, Ohio. And now for the people end of the story: If walls could talk: Mae West's review when and big break happened here. Also Chicago Mob Boss Royalty were frequently seen complete with Tommy Gun. Look above. I noticed the souvenirs of the gun slingers input. Dip your toe into this speakeasy turned bar & pretty darn good burger & yums joint. Glorified corruption graced these halls and upstairs alcohol served under cover during prohibition along with a human beings trafficked in the oldest profession. Word is the Great Gatsby was based on this bar. Artifacts from the era abound. So you be the judge. Better yet, ask the walls. They have something to say.

Best damn Reuben I've had! Got it as a recommendation from another patron and it didn't disappoint. My partner got the burger and it was good also. The margarita was top shelf and so was their beer selection. Friend of mine came here and got a dirty martini with stuffed olives and highly recommended it. Great vibe and memorabilia all over the place. Service was great and fast.

Service at the bar was quick and friendly. It was comfortable, quiet and relaxed on a Friday afternoon. The Blue Jalapeño burger was fantastic. Drinks are good.

Dropped in to see what it was all about. We didn't have much time so we just did a cocktail and two appetizers. A few local that we met said that the burgers were great but again we didn't have the time. We tried the Ultimate Bloody Mary, the fried pickles, and the portobello mushrooms. All of the items were good. The Bloody Mary came with a skewer full of meats, cheese, and veggies! I will definitely come back at some point to try an actual sit down meal. The service was fast and our waitress was super nice! It also had a nice old school vibe and just knowing how long the restaurant has been here makes it a pretty cool thing. I'm giving 4 stars with the idea that I can edit this review after my next visit.

Amazing history, personable and attentive service with fair prices. I appreciate that the liquor tax is already included in the prices- this makes the value even stronger . It may be a while until I am in Hot Springs again but will return

Must visit this cool historical spot when you're downtown. Live music was great but definitely on the loud side. We didn't enjoy the food and drinks much, since it's more of a dive spot which isn't our scene. Service was great. We're glad we visited.

You gotta stop at the Ohio Club when you're in Hot Springs. It's the oldest bar in Arkansas, and has been a Spa City hot spot for more than 100 years. It opened in 1905 as a bar and casino, and was frequented by mobsters like Al Capone, Bugsy Segel and Lucky Luciano, as well as many Major League baseball players. It's a place to get a drink, a bite to eat, and soak in the history of the area. Thursday through Monday, you can come here to hear live music upstairs. The location can't be beat -- Ohio Club is located right across the street from Bathhouse Row. When you step inside, you're greeted by a massive vintage bar that is 15 feet high and 24 feet wide, with hand-carved horse heads. Horse heads! Mobsters! You can't make this up. This restaurant was a finalist for the 2023 Arkansas Food Hall of Fame. Most of their menu is burgers, so you will probably want to get a burger, which seems to be their specialty. I got the Waygu Burger, which is a whiskey-infused patty with barbecue sauce, an onion ring, cheese, mayo, onion, lettuce and tomato. It is huge and hard to eat without getting all sloppy. Honestly, I couldn't tell the difference between a Waygu burger and a regular burger, because of all the stuff on the burger. But maybe my palate is not as refined as others' palates. Our table ordered a few of the appetizers to share, so I got to taste the fried pickles and fried okra, as well as the funnel fries with dipping sauce. Again, my palate is probably not accustomed to fried foods, because the fried pickles and fried okra kind of tasted the same: battered and fried! The funnel fries were fun and a nice ending to the meal, especially because they came with caramel and chocolate dipping sauce. One order is definitely enough to share. Our table had a great time sitting in the upstairs dining room and enjoying our food. But I think the Ohio Club really shines with its bar, so I'd come back for a drink and an appetizer.

This was such a surreal experience! We went early to make sure we were able to avoid crowds and a long wait, (5pm) To our surprise we got sat right away! We had an amazing server who was so quick to know our needs and the food was fantastic! Regular wait time but it was worth it for the burgers. The history behind this place is a good enough reason to try it out, I recommend going later to listen to the band and enjoy drinks if you can!

The food here was excellent, I had the burger sliders with fries. It was perfectly cooked and juicy. The bartender made me a virgin espresso martini. The cold brew espresso is made overnight. No roasting the beans and they added lactose free sweet cream. Delicious! Al Capone, Lucky Lucciano and a host of others came to the Ohio Club in the early 1900 until the casino inside was made illegal. The Ohio Club is the oldest bar in Arkansas. With a visit and they have live music some nights.

Love this place! First the service was great! Our waitress was amazing and funny. The food was delicious too. The history of this place completes your whole experience. I recommend and will definitely return.

Service was HORRIBLE. First of all, I presented a 20% off coupon for checking in on Yelp. They acted as if I was an alien from Outer space. The waiter had no idea it even existed. Secondly, there was a table near me ordering champagne, having a great time which greatly reduce the amount of attention that was paid to me. The mistake I made was ordering the most expensive, $25 hamburger and expecting something exceptional. On the contrary. My $25 hamburger came out cold. I had to ask the waiter after waiting a half hour for the burger. Urging him to go check to see if it was ready. He came back right away with the burger, which means it had been sitting there, explaining the reason it was not even warm anymore. Imagine that a $25 hamburger that isn't even warm. I would never come back here. Horrible experience. DON'T waste your time

This place is very busy but worth some patients to get in. The food is upscale pub and the history of the place and the ambience are very unique. Our server was friendly and attentive in a very busy and challenging environment, the food was very good, and the drinks were even better. Definitely a highlight in Hot Spring Arkansas.

What a fun find! Absolutely loved the history of this place even though I really don't care about gangsters or the movie stars who may have visited, it was still super interesting! So many interesting faces and stories in various pictures around the restaurant and on the menu. The food was excellent! We tried lots of things wish we could've eaten more but we were too full. We all enjoyed the fried pickles more so than the onion rings. Our server was so friendly, knowledgeable about the menu, recommended great drinks and I just loved her accent! It has a fun interior, lots of different things to look at and enjoy. The mahogany bar was interesting after reading about it.

Friendliest bar in town. Everyone we encountered was super friendly and welcoming-Staff, patrons, official ambassador, and even public works crew working outside of front door. We only ate the portobello appetizer. Delicious. Very rich history. Beautiful bar and decor. Went back a second time for Mahi Mahi sandwich with kettle chips and the Ohio Burger with kettle chips. Everything was delicious.

The history of this building is awesome! They have done a fantastic job keep the original decor as well as highlighting the historic pictures around the restaurant. The service was excellent. I sat at the bar and both bartenders took great care of all of the customers. I started with eh chips/ salsa/ and guacamole. The salsa was ok, the guacamole was good, but the chips stole the show! They tasted homemade! So delicious! I then did the sliders because I wasn't very hungry after all of those chips. The burgers were cooked perfectly and the fries were so crispy and delicious. I will definitely be back to try more things. Everything that came out so great at the other tables!

The ambiance is unparalleled. The staff is quite friendly and responsive, and they have great live music. It's a must-go when you're in town.

This is the Oldest bar in Hot Springs. The bar is original and hand carved. The food was really good. Service was attentive and friendly. Don't miss out, make the stop, at least for a drink.

One of my favorite bars anywhere. Old school vibe with prohibition ambience. Our bartender and bar back were very professional with personality. Real Irish coffees were very good and their ultimate Bloody Mary was delicious with loads of food garnishes. While fried okra was the best we've had and the fried portabella mushrooms were great too! A must visit in Hot Springs

The coffee-rubbed short rib burger is the BEST burger I have ever eaten! Has an amazing complex flavor. My 31 year old daughter and I split this, and she also thought it was the best burger she had ever eaten. We ate at the bar, which has such a cool historical vibe. Beer selection (including 2 good sours) is also great. Service is great, too--friendly bartender with good recommendations. LOVE this place!!

Great service and meal. Both meals were great....Reuben with layered cheese was awesome! Thanks Missy for the offer of the "Al Capone" vs a muddled old fashion. Ambiance was very cozy...like dining in a dated establishment and one I visited during college 30 years ago for drinks and live music.

Horrible, bias service, from the wait time to the service. I came to Yelp to see if this very bad service was customary. Then I noted great service comments from the majority ethnic group and poor service comments from minorities. I wholeheartedly agree. I felt my drink was tapered with and the salsa was spaghetti sauce. Less likely to recommend or return. Only regret 0/10 wasn't available to choose from. Just Shameful and Purposeful!!!!

I loved it. A little bit of history, a little bit of southern hospitality, and a lot of good bites. We got: -Spicy fried green beans - a little overpriced and not spicy, but good! -Black and Bleu - old style burger so as long as you like that and blue cheese you're set, would get again -The bugsy - great even without the cheese (dairy allergy, ofc I wouldn't take that off unless necessary!) Next time I'd come during the live music, but I was taking it easy and slow for the week

Such a great place, really steeped in history. The ambiance is great! We sat at the bar Sunday, Nov 10 and the bartenders were phenomenal. Drinks were perfect, my wife had the aviation and I had Arkansas IPAs. We sat there for 2 hours. Had the spicy fried green beans, angus sliders and a Ruben. All excellent and even though the place was packed the bartender and staff was amazing. Even though busy they all chatted with us and just made it a great visit. Ohio Club is a MUST DO while visiting hot springs!!!

Worth a visit just for the ambiance. Rooted in Prohibition gangster nostalgia, the restaurant has a lot of history. To top it off, the food was really good but somewhat pricey. The reuben was excellent but would have been better with cheese. The patty melt was great. The Hawaiian burger was excellent. Everyone loved the fries. Our server, Missy, was on top of everything and is happy to provide lots of historical background. The restaurant also has had a number of well known jazz performers.

3.5* overall We were recommended this place by our hotel and were told they had items from burgers to fine dining. We didn't really get that feel when we got there and looked at the menu but for lack of a better option (our first choice was already closed) and being pretty hungry, we stayed. There were only two items on the menu that caught my eye so I let my server help with that choice. The restaurant does seem to be on the more rundown side. I know it's old but there were quite a few tell-tale signs of lacking upkeep. I really appreciated being able to read about the history of The Ohio Club. I'd recommend reading the framed "History" paper at the top of the stairs for more information about the carved bar. The menu also had a slight sense of humor. Under the vegetarian section there was a mushroom burger with the option to add bacon... for an additional $100. What we got: The Bugsy - 4* I was quite happy with my food and it made up for the run down nature of the restaurant. The fries were also pretty good, though on the lighter side than what id expect from a bar. The BLT - 2* it had a lot of bacon, just like it said it would. But then it only had one slice of tomato and one leaf of lettuce. Not the best combo. The bacon was also overcooked.

Great service for a busy lunch time. I'm guessing out-of-towners (ehemm) had this place pretty busy during my visit but the staff was working hard to keep everyone happy. Sandwiches, sliders, and burgers were all well received and satisfactory by our table. Lunch salads were a miss so re-evaluate if necessary. At night there is live music upstairs which must get pretty loud considering the square footage but it's likely a great time based on its history. Unfortunately I wasn't able to visit at night but did cruise past and everyone seemed to be enjoying their time. Til next time Ohio Club.

I was in town on a Friday night, and this place was hopping! Thankfully, it was just me, so I could easily find a seat at the bar. I had the Reuben sandwich with fries. I love a good Reuben! It was a good sandwich, but not the best. The bottom side of the sandwich was a bit soggy, but I can get past that. :-) The fries were really good... with a little extra dash of salt and pepper and some ketchup! I had the blackberry old fashioned, which was recommended by the bartender. I was only going to be in Hot Springs one day (the next day) and got a great briefing from one of the staff about things going on, where to park, and places to go. The valley came in and told stories to me and the couple seated next to me about the bar - it's the oldest bar in Arkansas and was a place that Al Capone and other gangsters frequented. Such interesting history... and the downstairs bar area is untouched and in its original form. I had to get a shirt before leaving to commemorate visiting and having a beverage at such a historic location!

The Ohio Club is a must-do in Hot Springs. This historic club is usually packed on the weekends, but don't let that deter you. The prohibition-inspired cocktails will transport you back in time, while the house band will have you dancing and singing along. The burgers and fries are a great choice, but the best thing on the menu is the Rueben!

Courtney was an awesome! She embodies what service should be. After a disaster at Grateful Dead Pizza - we ended up at the Ohio Club. Talk about night and day! Great service, delicious food, and the cocktails were fabulous.

I can't believe I visited the oldest bar in Arkansas! It is kind of small but well-kept place with an incredible history on every wall. The Ohio Club started in 1905 as a Bar and Casino and they welcome celebrities like Al Capone, Bugsy Segel, Bugs Moran and Lucky Luciano. We sat at the bar and order some cocktails. Also burgers with fries. Everything was great, good service too. We chatted with people sitting at the bar and although there were tourists like us, we were also able to chat with locals. They say that on weekends people line up to get in. We were lucky to go on a weekday, we will return!

Came in on a Monday, there were only two other tables being served. Workers seem to intentionally avoid eye contact with us. Hostess, who was very friendly, sat us at a table and gave us menus, and we waited for about 20 minutes with no one else making eye contact or coming by our table. So we left. We ate here in 2021 and had a great experience then- but apparently things have changed.

Amazing bar and restaurant. Oldest bar in Arkansas. Beautiful wood bar and tin ceilings. I had the blackened mahi mahi sandwich . The spice level was pretty hot and salty. For checking in on the yelp app we were given 20-% off an appetizer which was really nice. The adult beverages were delicious. You'll definitely want to give one of those a try!

Absolutely fantastic!! This was our first visit to Hot Springs & The Ohio Club was out last stop. Couldn't have ended our trip with a better place! This actually sealed the deal for is making a return trip to HS in the future. the atmosphere is great, our waitress was super sweet & attentive, the drinks were fabulous & the food was REALLY good too!

Love, love, love the history! Ultimate Bloody Mary- excellent, loved all the accompaniments!!! Appetizer- fried green beans - yummy, crispy and not too greasy Bugsy sando- great, bread was a bit greasy. Excellent service- attentive, & friendly Was there on a Sunday night. Ate here for lunch today. I was STARVING. Had a grilled chicken sandwich and fries and it absolutely hit the spot. Crispy delicious fries, a solid good piece of chicken and a nice waitress. This place would be 5 stars except I can't get over the stickiness of the floors. It was a complete turnoff. My sneakers literally made the honey on the floor sticky sound with every step on the tile and rubber stairs. I know this is a really old bar, but there is a lot of really old in this town and it's the only place it's happened. I'd eat here again though, in a heartbeat.

Cool bar in hot springs, lots of history and live music as well! Cheese board was 1/5 but drinks were cheap so I'm not complaining!

The food was just appetizers and it was just average. The service was poor. Our server was talking to his friends instead of taking care of our service. I'm glad that I went and got to experience it, but I will never go back again.

First of all the seating here is terrible. We were hoping to have a family meal but this is definitely not the place for that! I found them on Yelp and it said they close at midnight. No mention that the kitchen closes at 10 pm. There was one waitress running around and she was super rude. We just gladly left. I have no clue how this place is rated so highly.

Just being in the ambience of a club with such history was just a treat. We ordered off the menu, which is bar food for the most part, but it was really good. The staff and ambience was amazing. We chose to sit in the bar area and not wait a long time for a regular table and that was much faster for us. But that did not disappoint us at the least.

Went here for a girls trip. We had a Lovely lunch and enjoyed the historic bar and other decorations.

The ambiance, food, music, and service have been great both times we've went. It's perfect for a date night, family, or small group. Beware it's been packed in my experiences so you may have a wait for a table, but on the occasions I've went it was a party of two and we were seated very promptly. I thoroughly enjoy their in house only brew. Schultz. It's a brown ale style beer similar to Newcastle but it pairs great with the signature burger. My wife had the Reuben and it was amazing as well. I would recommend ever to give this place a try.

The food was great- highly recommend the fried pickles. My husband bordered the Reuben and said it was very good. I had the sliders which were deli and more than I could finish. We sat at the bar, the drinks were fun and delicious and the service friendly and attentive. The bar back is magnificent and well worth the trip in just to see it. Would definitely recommend for a casual dinner with a fun vibe!

Old school bar and grill with live music. It is practically a museum (in a good way). Burgers are spot on. Good location.
