This is a funky west end must visit. It has been a few years, but they have not missed a beat here. We ordered takeout for 5, 6, and 7 along with the baby potato pancakes and an iced coffee. All were excellent, including the iced coffee.

Google
My husband and I stopped here for a no-fuss good breakfast, and it exceeded our expectations. There are only a few tables, but most people were picking up carry-out orders. I got the #2 English muffin with turkey and avocado and my husband got the SEC on a plain bagel. Both were hot and delicious and very filling. The coffee was excellent as well. We didn't expect to find wine there, but bought a bottle to drink later. There were also super tasty apple cider donuts, which I had to have one of course! We're so glad we stopped here on a whim, delicious!

Google
Oh no? They mean oh YES! What a great experience. Unassuming inside and out. Simple but elegant menu. We ordered four different sandwiches and each was absolutely delicious. Great service. They have a surprisingly diverse wine selection and an uncommonly large selection of imported beer (plus a few local craft beers). This is a great option for eat-in (small space, though) or carryout. Give it a shot.

Google
WOW!! Amazing experience at Ohno. We came in for Breakfast, having traveled from VT. It was the closest spot to our airbnb and we are very glad we went. The staff was extremely friendly, service was quick, and the food was exceptional in taste and quality! I recommend trying the potato pancakes on the side; they were delicious. Thanks again Ohno for a wonderful meal!

Google
I kept getting recommendations to come check this place out, so I finally had to give it a shot. I really like the bagels, and the breakfast sandwiches are definitely worth it. I ordered ahead, but they seemed like they were getting orders done pretty fast. The breakfast sandwiches are a great value for the price and taste great. Definitely recommend checking out Ohno Cafe!

Google
Delicious breakfast sandwiches. The maple spicy prosciutto sandwich is really good! Good coffee too! We try to go any time we visit Portland in the morning.

Google
This place is a very sweet shop with coffee and sandwiches. I had the build your own sandwich once which was great, I like how they really grill your bread. They have vegan/ vegetarian sausage patties. I also another time had a tempeh sandwich with hot honey and coleslaw that was particularly inspired! Came with a very generous side of potato salad

Amanda Martinez

Google
I got the crab cake sandwich (as a wrap) good flavor and not to heavy. Side salad was also tasty. Online ordering was simple and the food was ready in just a few short minutes. Would recommend.

Yelp
I am just realizing I've never reviewed OhNo cafe!! They are closing soon, which is a sad truth. This place has been a staple in the relationship with my wife since we started seeing each other eight years ago. We LOVE the simplicity of their space, the tinfoil trinkets and the uniqueness of the menu! I ALWAYS get a #1 and add bacon to my sandwich (gotta have it on a bialy).

Anna S.

Yelp
All I can say is firreeee! I'm looking for the best salmon lox in Portland and this is one of the top. I got their smoked salmon with spinach and cream cheese on their special bread! All I can say is my sandwich was filled and I will be back! Service was great and a little seating area for you to enjoy your food.

Caci D.

Yelp
Good, inexpensive food. Not super special but definitely a neighborhood gem. Hoping the rumors I hear about them closing aren't true.

Yelp
A little disappointed with my first visit here. Kept things simple...very simple. Ordered the prosciutto, cheddar, tabasco, egg sandwich (#1) with one change, no egg. I know, it's a little bit of an unusual request for a bfast sandwich, but I am what I am. I get it's an odd request, but at the very least I'm simplifying an already simple order. Unfortunately I ended up with no cheese as well. Normally missing one topping wouldn't be huge but its a bit if an important one for making a cohesive sandwich at this point. Unfortunately I had taken the sandwich to go and didn't notice until too late. On the plus side everyone inside seemed kind, but missing half the fillings of a two filling sandwich is just a bit killer.

Yelp
Ohno? More like OH-YES! A friend of ours recommended OhNo! Cafe for breakfast after other places in town were either already closed or had huge lines. We made the walk from Downtown Portland - just a 10 min trek - without knowing what to expect and ended up having an amazing breakfast experience. As soon as we walked in we were surprised by how spacious the place was! It's not only a cafe with food, but they also sell wine and beer to go, and they had quite a selection. With that being said, seating was VERY limited, and as of June 2022 they still did not allow indoor dining. The menu was extensive -- it was difficult to pick something as everything looked so good. I went with the Maple Glazed Prosciutto sandwich and holy cow was it good. You could really taste the maple. It was the perfect combination of flavors. My partner picked the hanger steak sandwich and he loved it, too. The sandwiches were between $6 and $7, with the hanger steak and Scottish salmon ones being more expensive. I thought the food was fairly priced! We took both sandwiches to the nearby Harbor Memorial Park, which has picnic tables, and had a great outdoor breakfast date. Can't wait to come back! PS: They have Coffee by Design coffee.

Kristi H.

Yelp
Local breakfast spot for very reasonable prices. Two of us each ate a breakfast sandwich, shared some hashbrowns and each got a coffee for just under $30 while traveling to Portland. Waited 10 minutes instead of the hours long line at some of the other local cafes in the west end. They all have their pros and cons, this is NOT a fancy artisan cafe- but for us, quick, tasty normal folk food before a day of planned activities was just what we were looking for. Menu is online to preview, sandwich wrapper art in the window- 10/10 recommend for what it is!

Yelp
Another place I saw online that was highly recommended, specifically for breakfast. Wasn't a far walk from the water/our hotel (about 10-15 minutes). The #2 was highly recommended so I grabbed that on a bagel (turkey, egg, avocado, tomato, and gouda) and my girlfriend got the #1 (maple prosciutto, egg, cheddar and Tabasco). We also grabbed two citrus sun teas. Had to get it all to go since they had signs saying no eating in but there was a few empty benches right out front. The #2 was pretty good. Your typical, decent sized breakfast sandwich and had a good amount of meat. I actually liked the #1 a little more, it was sweet and salty from the maple prosciutto and some tang and kick from the Tabasco. Sun teas were good, no sugar but a nice hint of citrus. I definitely see why this is a lot of people's go to sandwich spot! They crank out sandwiches pretty quickly and efficiently and the call to order/online pickup system works pretty well from what I've seen. Give it a try!

Tuli S.

Yelp
The hanger steak sandwich is amazing! Get it. We also had a sausage egg and cheese but that tasted exactly as expected. The steak sandwich is a great breakfast after a night out in Portland! It wasn't too busy but we came in March. Could see this spot being crazy during high season.

Tiff W.

Yelp
My favorite item here is the spam sandwich. I usually order online for pickup. Service is quick and convenient, and they have a nice selection of local beverages.

D M.

Yelp
Found this place based on an article I read about it having one of the best sandwiches in the country. I tried their # 7- the spam sandwich. It was a good sandwich and the atmosphere was a lot of fun. I requested the spam be cooked well done and they nailed it. Great customer service.

JJ C.

Yelp
The #1 sandwich was really good! Looking forward to trying the others. Nice bright and clean cafe. Friendly service! Count me as a fan!

Matt S.

Yelp
Stopped here for breakfast while on my way out of town. Tasty breakfast sandwich! With some good, CBD-infused coffee. The combo definitely helped my soul after a long night out in the Old Port. Before I left, grabbed a couple Maine Beer Co beers to enjoy later. I'll definitely be back next time in the area!

Hannah L.

Yelp
Great experience! Delicious coffee, really good gluten free breakfast sandwiches, and nice staff. Definitely recommend the potato pancakes!

Barrett F.

Yelp
Better than solid breakfast sandwiches... we found it on here and it was a great place to grab a quick breakfast before taking on the day!

Mark M.

Yelp
Easy stop for a sandwich in the west end if you are on the run or just want something quick. The #1 has been the go to the last couple of visits. Tobacco sauce!

Victoria L.

Yelp
Ohyes!! Great breakfast bagel sandwiches... didnt get a chance to try their lunch menu but everything looked great. The shop sells some good drink options (Including alcohol) to take with you to-go. The only thing keeping them from 5starz was the wait time. After you grab your food drive over to the lookout for a nice view :)

J D.

Yelp
Excellent little place to grab n go breakfast sandwiches etc.... Staying in a VRBO just a block or so away and was fortunate to have found OHNO on our first day. All of the items we sampled were fresh, filling, and very tasty!

L. S.

Yelp
Orders are incorrect nearly every.single.time. They have no concept of what salt or seasoning meat is. They recently downsized their bagels to the point where they can fit in the palm of my hand. Prices are out of control for what you get. Do yourself a favor and make your own or swing by something like freaking Dunkin or McDonald's. Oh No has become a ridiculous rip off. Never going back.....order was wrong for the last time today. Get it together..

Ann C.

Yelp
Adorable sandwich and wine shop in Portland, Maine, tucked away in a quaint residential area. Tasty sandwich selection for both breakfast and lunch (and if none of them suit your fancy, you can also build your own). The store also sells an eclectic selection of wines and bitters. There's a clever collection of aluminum artwork on the windowsill for your purview while waiting for your sandwich.

Katie H.

Yelp
More like Ohyes! This is exactly the kind of reliable neighborhood breakfast and lunch nook that I love finding and will come back to over and over again. And because it's in Portland, of course the food is top-notch and unique. I got the #1 which is maple glazed prosciutto, Tabasco, cheddar, and egg, but I asked for it on a croissant. This was so freaking delicious. And an absolute mess to it but I loved every second of it, even down to the end where I was licking maple glaze off my fingers with no shame. My husband got the #5 steak, egg, and cheese on bialy and liked it quite a bit too. My sis-in-law was thrilled to see a spam sandwich on the menu, and the #7 took her to spam paradise. Everyone working there is really nice. The space itself is not trendy, but we like that more. There's only a few tables in the place so it's not the greatest for groups if you're planning on dining in unless you come in at the right time, but we were lucky and were able to fit 6 of us at one of the few tables. I can't wait to come back for lunch to try the delectable sounding lunch sandwiches!

Andrea A.

Yelp
(insert Ohyes! joke here) Online ordering worked great and we really enjoyed our breakfast sandwiches to go. Really flavorful and a generous portion for the price. I had a loxy #4 with added tomato and my partner really enjoyed the maple prosciutto on the #1.

Jules F.

Yelp
This is my favorite spot to get a breakfast sandwich. They're quick, to the point, and casual. Sandwiches are served piping hot. They offer Gouda as a cheese option! Plus, you can build your own breakfast sandwich with as many eggs as you want, and the staff doesn't express irritation. Major plus in Portland. Come here for a specialty bialy and enjoy it inside while looking at their vast beer collection. Or grab it to go and enjoy the view at the nearby Harborview Park. Either way, you'll enjoy the freshness of your sandwich, the tasty and unique ingredient mixes, and reasonable prices. It's a go-to.

Dana M.

Yelp
After two years of bliss living across from Ohno Cafe, I moved away and never quite found a breakfast sandwich that compared. I moved to NYC and then Seattle and, still, nothing quite like these sandwiches appeared. And then suddenly a few twists and turns in life brought me back to the very apartment I'd lived in all those years ago and guess where I went first... It's exactly as I remembered. I'm not very fancy so I keep it simple with a bacon, egg, and cheese on an english muffin. But somehow it's impossible to replicate. The muffin is fluffier here, thick enough to make it a stable sandwich without overwhelming everything else. The bacon is crispy, the cheese is cheesy, and the eggs are fried to order. It's certainly not the fanciest place. But it's worth the trip if you're even remotely close to the West End. And after you're done, save the tinfoil and add to the windowsill of masterpiece tinfoil sculptures from sandwich lovers past.

Maia L.

Yelp
Great food that tastes like it was truly made from scratch! Especially the pasta salad! Really friendly workers as well, busy on the weekends so I suggest coming during the week to enjoy a yummy meal at a cute little Portland spot!

Nurai Z.

Yelp
Amazing!!! I LOVE their Covid precautions. It's prepaid take out orders only. Customer service was over the top. The sandwich was well seasoned, fresh and tasty overall. The coffee is definitely in my top 3 favorites. They make the pick up process very easy, clean, and quick. You can tell they really care about their customers.

Kitty E.

Yelp
I love this place. Can't stop coming back for more. Yum yum yum yum. Food is delicious, staff is nice, very cozy.

Brendan C.

Yelp
A group of 5 of us tried to come here for breakfast sandwiches. We were told the wait for food was 40 minutes. Guy working the grill yelled over to tell us that if we were in a hurry, Ohno wasn't for us. On our way out the door, he yelled again "welcome to Portland, Maine on a Sunday. You should probably try the Dunkin' Donuts drive through." Smug and condescending when all we tried to do was give him our business.

John B.

Yelp
The staff is a super friendly and has a down-to-earth attitude. The menu is tasty and catered towards adult flavored cafe style foods. The coffee was tasty and has a bring your own mug discount! Food came out quick and was worth coming for and the price was reasonable.

Marc H.

Yelp
Ohno café is a quaint little coffee house on Bracket Street in Portland, Maine. They're located in a residential area near the west end. The wake-me-up aroma of dark roasted, coffee mixed with the delicious smells the breakfast sandwiches cooking on the oversized grill! You will also find trendy organic soft drinks, beer and wine along with pastries and amazing salads and a cozy atmosphere! Stop by for a Treat!

Courtland H.

Yelp
A lovely stop on our way out of town for breakfast. The menu looked fantastic. It was tough to settle on just one sandwich! Service was kind and courteous. I'd highly recommend this stop.

Risa K.

Yelp
Sandwich was amazing. Ordered online and picked up to go. They also had small containers of cream and oat milk for coffee which I thought was a great idea for COVID times.

Humming H.

Yelp
Absolutely loved it. Incredible breakfast sammys and a solid coffee selection. Worth a stop when you're in Portland!

Amanda W.

Yelp
I am grateful Yelp pointed out this little gem near my Airbnb. The sandwiches are bomb and they come out quickly. I had the iced coffee one morning and it was pretty strong, too. My only advice here is to pay in cash or bring a little cash if possible. I had a twinge of guilt each time I purchased a sandwich using my card after I found out they can't do CC tips.

Patrick C.

Yelp
An underwhelming meh. The sandwiches are okay, it's nothing that exciting or exceptionally made for what they are charging and the coffee is always bad and overpriced.

Angelika D.

Yelp
Great food, but the customer service could be better. Today the cashier was chewing gum and seemed inconvenienced by us not initially knowing what we wanted and no one else was in line. Otherwise great atmosphere and food. And now mask-free!

Steff D.

Yelp
I had never been inside the Ohno! Cafe despite passing by it hundreds of dozens of time. After spending an afternoon there working an alcohol promotion, though, I became an instant fan. It has an intimate, welcoming feeling sans any judgmental attitudes or exclusivity towards people who aren't locals, specifically West Enders. For a small neighborhood cafe, it has a seriously impressive beer and wine selection. The owners (who are as real as it gets) are active in their community and outwardly proud of it. They believe in supporting locally owned businesses, so microbrews made in Maine seem to a) always be on hand (with some varieties I can't seem to find elsewhere); and b) cheaper than other locations in town. I go out of my way to buy my Allagash White here now! I can't speak on the food, but every time I'm here it seems they're straight-out making orders - that's a good enough sign to me that they're doing something right! So, don't make the same mistake I did, and walk past this place for years like it's "just another building". Because it's definitely not!

Jessica M.

Yelp
So good! Exactly what I needed after a night of drinking. I got the breakfast sandwich with smoked salmon, and it was delicious. It's a cute little shop that also sells lunch, beer, and wine. I will be back for another breakfast sandwich the next time I'm in Portland!

Randy M.

Yelp
Honestly. I could eat here every day. Oh wait, I'm eating here nearly every day. It's amazing. #1 breakfast sandwich on a bialy blows your mind. Their crab cake sandwich in a wrap...incredible. If you get between me and this place, I'm coming for you!!

Kat M.

Yelp
Great for those who need a gluten free option! I had the maple prosciutto on gluten free bread and it was FANTASTIC.

Jessica D.

Yelp
One of my favorite breakfast sandwich places! I've been here quite a few times. Staff always really nice. Place is small but cute!

Rob B.

Yelp
Really dope sandwiches- fresh ingredients and at a reasonable price. Good texture melange. However, one person in our party is vegetarian and got pieces of prosciutto strewn in their sandwich. Cross contamination- Ohno!

Jess B.

Yelp
Get the #1 for breakfast, you're welcome. Cheap and the best breakfast sandwich in town. Also makes great lunch sandwiches and salads. Tip: make sure you call ahead! They get VERY busy in the morning hours.

J E.

Yelp
Had the Maple Glazed Prosciutto and Scottish Salmon sandwiches. Both excellent. Male cashier with beard and glasses was friendly, greeted us when we walked in. Female cook stared at us in ambivalence, waiting to hear our order. Pretty much did the same for all subsequent patrons. She definitely turned on the charm when she recognized a regular come in. Must try when in Portland!

Yelena S.

Yelp
Some pros: - It's in a convenient location - Some sandwiches are actually really yummy (we got the #4, smoked salmon with cream cheese, spinach, and capers on a bialy) - They have a large beer/various alcohol selection - They seem dog friendly! Cons: - It's really not a hang out place, more like a get your sandwich to-go kinda place. - There's not a lot of seating and it gets really crowded on weekends (20 minute wait for said #4 breakfast sandwich, and it's not even cooked) - The staff has never really been friendly the handful of times I've been there - Some sandwiches are actually not that good (or are expensive, the #4 is small for $7, $15 for two after tax doesn't seem worth it)

Margot P.

Yelp
My friends and I did take out sandwiches and they were all amazing. They were able to handle a complicated order over the phone and got it perfect. They toast their sandwiches and they are delicious. They have lots of options to customize sandwiches. Would highly recommend.

Amanda R.

Yelp
I will always love this great breakfast establishment in Portland, however the last time I went...I made a mistake on my end. I sincerely thought that all of the breakfast sandwiches came with egg, so I went for #6 Cream cheese, spinach, tomato, cucumber, red onion & Sriracha like I said I would in the review prior. When I got it, I was sad because of no egg, then I went up to the counter and ordered one to put in my sandwich and felt horrible! It was very acidic and I couldn't finish the sandwich completely. I will still explore other magical and tasty breakfast sandwiches they have on that chalkboard!

Robert L.

Yelp
One of my favorite sandwich places ever. Trendy without pretentiousness and a big focus on fresh ingredients and getting you full. Staff is super patient, and the table spaces are inviting for a quick meetup with friends. Other big pluses are the wine and beer selection; I usually grab a breakfast sandwich and a bottle of wine for dinner later. I hope this place stays around forever. It's hard to find a sandwich place that wants to keep doing what it does best and not slap on a million random ingredients just to charge customers more to keep their palates adderalled.

Shell A.

Yelp
I don't know what it is about this place, they are just sandwiches, but every sandwich I get here is phenomenal. I think I'm here at least once a week, occasionally twice if I'm running late for work and need a quick bite or have nothing to bring for lunch. The #2 is my absolute favorite though and I'm guilty of getting this majority of the time now. Turkey, egg, cheese, tomato and avocado on an English muffin. Amazing. You can also add anything to any sandwich to customize it. They also have coffee and a pretty decent wine selection if you want to grab a bottle to go.

Emily H.

Yelp
Waited over 55 minutes for two sandwiches here yesterday on my way to the airport no less. The lady behind the counter was totally unapologetic and said "it's ready when it's ready" which is not how you speak to a customer. I ordered the crabcake sandwich and sadly the slaw was way better than the soggy mainly breading and fishy-tasting crab cake. The other was a flank steak sandwich which was fine but the poor customer service attitude overshadowed it all. Oh No!
