We came here on a rainy day so it was a bit of a shame but the sky cleared later on the day so we were able to roam around and take photos. This place is perfect if you want to take strolls or have a run. We saw an old man feeding the fish and turtles by the bridge and they were huuuge.

Ohori Park is a beautiful, spacious spot perfect for a relaxing walk or a peaceful break from the city. The lake views are stunning, and the walking path around it is great for jogging, strolling, or just enjoying the scenery. There are plenty of benches, shaded areas, and even a few cafés nearby, making it easy to spend an hour or two here. A must-visit if you’re in Fukuoka and looking for a calm, scenic place to unwind. There is a garden in the park, make sure you visit, the kois there are crazy big and active. Would buy the 100 Yen feed and enjoy a chill time.

Amazing park! During the summer its very hot but lots of big trees which gives a lot of shade when needed. For ¥250 we also visited the Japanese garden, 10/10 recommend. Very relaxing and quiet, not a lot of people.

Google
A really good place to chill, we walked from Amam Dacotan, got our coffee and bread and brought it to the park, and we could sit near the lake to enjoy our food. The Fukuoka art museum was inside, and a few cute shops were nearby as well. Would recommend to go

Google
A nice park with an island in the center in the lake. It was nice and tranquil away from the hustle and bustle of the city. It was cool to see some ducks in the lake and I was thoroughly impressed with the sheer size of the lake. A nice break to help you recharge and be at peace before resuming your exploration of the city!

When I was a kid, I often came here with my brother and did fishing a lot! Very memorable place and after over 20 years later I got to come back again! It’s still nice place to roam around and walk through the park! We had a little pick nick there! :) If you have a spare time in Fukuoka, come visit and have a relaxing time here! Cheers 🥂

Google
This is a lovely park where you could just spend the day slowly relaxing here and there at the park. ( visited: May 2022 ) There is a beautiful garden you need to pay admission fee ( I think it was 650 yen) but it’s worth it I also encountered the yellow pumpkin by yayoi kusama here in the park

Google
Beautiful park surrounding a lake with islands and bridges splitting the lake from North to Southwest. Lovely place for a walk or to pedal boat. Lots of photo opportunities and there’s a designated fishing area for recreational anglers. Food or refreshments are available at the Northern and Southern parts of the park.

Yelp
Ohori Park (大濠公園) is a lake park that opened in 1929. Most of the park is a large lake, and three islands in the center of the lake are connected by bridges. They are Yanagishima Island, Matsushima Island, and Ayameshima Island. Three of the four bridges connecting each island are registered as cultural properties of Fukuoka City. Ohori Park was built to protect the castle when Fukuoka Castle was built. It is said that the name "Ohori" came from the pit dug around the castle wall. The walking path around the lake with 3,000 willow trees planted is very beautiful. Various types of trees such as weeping willows, ginkgo trees, magnolias, tulips, and sunflowers are planted throughout Ohori Park. The Japanese garden in Ohori Park was created in 1984 to commemorate the 50th anniversary of the opening of Ohori Park. If I lived in Fukuoka, I would like to live near Ohori Park. Yelp
Ohori Koen contains the pond which are the remains of the Fukuoka Castle moat. The historical remnants of yesteryear now serve as a local park and green space where one can engage in outdoor activities and/ or discover a haven of respite from the busy city. One can either stroll or run the perimeter of the lake --passing landmarks such as an Art Museum and Japanese Garden -- or meander through the center island across bridges and to the iconic pavilion with bright red railings located on the north side. Here, you will also find the boat house where a swan boat, row boat or standing cycle style boat are available for rent. The park also contains designated fishing spots, some tea/ coffee shops, hot dog stands... you name it! I walked from the south near the art museum to the north end, opting to cut through the center island over the bridges. It was a refreshing walk at such a CLEAN park. It is managed quite intensely as I did watch a worker carefully surveying the area for any morsel of trash to pick up with a handy grabber!

Yelp
Ohori Park / Fukuoka -- This is the ideal spot to start a Fukuoka city walk heading toward Hakata. That was what Jamie W. and I did with our limited time in this city. We took the subway from Hakata station and popped up just outside the park. It was just a five-minute stroll to the central pond where all the attractions are like a Starbucks. Seriously. They had swan paddle boats and a cafe, neither of which we partook. Instead we walked over the long stone footbridge to stroll the small wooded island with an ornate pavilion at the end of a short walkway (photo: https://bit.ly/44quDDR). It was originally part of the moat for Fukuoka Castle but now basically serves as the city's Central Park. A bucolic joy. RELATED - Exploring Japan? Yelp
The local park is THE magnet for folks wanting to catch some fresh air, go jogging or for a walk. Around the pond the park has a restaurant, a few coffee shops, a tea shop and a hotdog stand. There are carp (and other fish) and turtles in the water. You can rent a paddle boat or one of the swan boats (somewhat tight if you're taller than 6'). The park is clean, has a variety of plants and a big play ground.

Yelp
This a wonderful and peaceful park. Lots of beautiful flowers and trees. If you need to take a break or refresh your brain, this is the place to go in Fukuoka.

Yelp
I have so many good memories there. They have many nice events every season. Fireworks, Nou:Japanese traditional dance show, Hanami: Cherry blossom parties, etc... Even when they do not have events, so many things to see. Beautiful, peaceful, and relaxing. Price: Free. Parking: Not free. I recommend metro. Superstitious stuff: If a couple rides a boat, they will break up. Many parks have this kind of stuff. One of the famous one is Inogashira park in Kichijoji Tokyo maybe... It happened to me. lol

Yelp
Best park in Fukuoka. Quite big. With a nice a japanese garden. You can also boat and find pretty good food either at Starbucks or royal garden. If you are a runner, there is a track with the distance in it so you can track your performance :) One of my favorite place to hang out on a sunny day!

Yelp
One of my first days living in Fukuoka, I wandered to Ohori park, and I've tried to go almost every day since. Ohori Park is exceptionally clean (seriously just try and find a cleaner park) and well laid out. There are three paths surrounding a giant lake, one for biking, one for running, and one for walking. While people don't strictly adhere to the designated paths, there is a very low stress approach to the park. You can do everything from group running, to a slow walk without feeling too rushed (unless you get tangled in a running group, but that's not very often). Not being one for exercise, the running aspect of the park is pretty lost on me. I do walk the path with friends sometimes, but that's about it. Still, there is plenty to enjoy. There is a beautiful Starbucks with nice outdoor seating (if you get there early enough on a nice day - otherwise it's packed), and the boathouse restaurant that I have yet to try. There is also a Pinkberry. The pond/lake has benches surrounding it, so you can always find a place to sit quietly and look out over the water or watch the coi, turtles, and fish swim around. When I first moved here I kept talking about how much I loved watching the turtles swim around. The park also includes the option of swan boating, canoeing, or these weird bikes on floaty things that look like I would fall off of them if I attempted to use them. You can rent these watercraft at the boat house. If you choose the swan option, be careful not to hit your head when exiting the swan. They tell you that AS you are exiting, but seriously be careful because it happens. Another favorite pastime of people in the park is what we affectionately call the "puppy parade." Lots of people have tiny, fluffy, well groomed dogs here. Often, these puppies are also dressed in tiny outfits. I've seen a dog wearing sunglasses and pants. There are so many nice things to do in the park, not to mention the surrounding areas filled with places for picnics, the nearby castle ruins, and the art museum. There are also multiple playgrounds in the park for children to enjoy. So it's really just a wonderful place to visit.

Yelp
I don't even know where to start with Ohori Park, that's how big this place is. It's one of my absolute favorite places in Japan. -- PARK/LAKE -- - It's so relaxing taking a stroll throughout the park. Throughout certain parts of the park, there are exercising objects and pressure point stimulators for your feet, quite fun to experiment with! There are paddle boat and swan boat rentals for those who want to paddle through the lake. There are joggers and designated bike paths too. -- JAPANESE GARDEN -- Adults - ¥ 240 Children - ¥ 120 - MUST SEE if you come to Ohori! Absolutely gorgeous and breath taking, even through the hot weather. I could spend hours at this garden. The front desk even provides free rentals of umbrellas because the sun is scorching and there isn't much shade through the park. -- NEARBY ATTRACTIONS -- Across the street is Gokoku Shrine, which is a good opportunity to visit a shrine. Fukuoka Castle Ruins (Kokura Castle) is a fun and interactive museum throughout the castle, must go! I wasn't able to visit during the Firework holiday in Fukuoka, but there is a firework event that is held at Ohori during the that time of the year! Don't forget about the Cherry Blossom season, because it would be amazing to view them here.

Yelp
I know it's still winter and all, but I can see how beautiful this park is going to be for the cherry blossom season! Walking through it, you will lose yourself in everything in this park. There are so many kids running around. I love that there are dogs everywhere. People are really friendly. There's a running trail! The scenery is beautiful. OMG, this park is just perfect. I am surprised by the life in the park, which is so different from what I see at home. There are ducks and cranes playing in the water. I could just lose myself here all day.

Yelp
My favorite place in Fukuoka City. You can escape the busy city life here. I enjoy watching all the turtles climb the sides of the lake and sunbathe on nice days. Boat rentals are available for those who want to paddle around the lake. There are also restaurants such as Pinkberry, Starbucks, the Garden Restaurant, and the expensive French restaurant Hana No Ki, located inside the park. Playground areas for kids. Stray cats. And little sparrows that are so used to humans, you can feed them right from your hands. A perfect place to spend a relaxed day.

Yelp
Even though I just passed by the park during my walk to Fukuoka tower, it was hard to resist just stopping to look at the wonderful environment. A very relaxing and peaceful environment, definitely will recommend to allocate some time during your visit to take a stroll through this park when in Japan

Yelp
Beautiful park. Great for running. Good restaurants and a Starbucks with a great view on the lake.

Yelp
A wonderful free local park for walking, running, biking, taking the kids somewhere outdoors to play, or just sitting and reading a book. It is a huge park, complete with a Starbucks if you want to grab a coffee, sit and people watch. Depending on the time of year you visit they do have different events going on, but if not it is a great place to come on a nice day to sit and relax. There is plenty of space to have a picnic, take a nap, or even walk your dog. They have swan boats on the lake (just like in South Korea!) to take your kids, family or a date on for a couple hours on the water. People are very friendly and curious here of others, but watch out for the homeless. They tend to also hang out near this park and can sometimes be bothersome. Besides that though, all of my experiences here have been super positive and it's really a beautiful place to go a sunny spring day, summer day or clear fall day!

Yelp
One of my favorite parks in Japan.Very relaxing and comfortable. And my little child even found a children's playground. We could spend two days on it.The runner should love the synthetic track arround the lake.
