"The Santa Fe Caffeinated Way For 30 years, the locally owned Ohori (est. 1984) has been brewing coffee to loyal patrons and visitors alike. To keep in line with the caffeine trend, there are pour-overs and a lighter roast available. Expect the same classic small batch, traditional gourmet arabica coffee including over two dozen types of micro-roasted beans. The shop is sans Wi-Fi which lets you unplug and enjoy some conversation or hunker down with a good book."

Short walk from the South Capital Rail Runner. Good coffee, nice vibes, lots of local sweets and treats like granola bars, cookies, baked goods, milk, chocolate, and candy. I think I saw meat sticks too.

Came here with my brother and sister. Super cool little shop and easy access from the road. Love the atmosphere and the smell of roasted coffee on the way in! Plenty of seating and not overly crowded, small morning line. The latte my sister and I got was great which was a raspberry mocha. Definitely didn’t disappoint! My brother got a cold brew and something about it was different for sure. All of us love a good strong, dark coffee, but my brother’s was almost overboard, not to mention some grounds with every sip it seemed like. Maybe he got the bottom of the barrel? My sister and I also got a dandelion latte to share and that was different but in a good way! Super glad we got to try something new and enjoy it. We will definitely be back should we ever find ourselves in the area again to try something different!

Google
Great coffee and great service. The barista was knowledgeable and very helpful. The coffee tasted amazing and was strong. The only negative was the amount of flies in the shop. I know they are trying to mitigate that with fly traps but the flies were bothersome.

Google
Coffee was a good value, but the service left a lot to be desired. A simple "good morning" can't hurt. Then the barista making the drinks didn't bother putting creamer in my drink as ordered, and when I dared ask for it they/them looked offended.

Google
I moved to Santa Fe recently & have made it my mission to try every local coffee shop in town. This is hands down the best! High quality & delicious. We’ll definitely be back!

Steve Ott

Google
Loved it! Beats Starbucks in flavor and atmosphere. Kind of contemporary indoor design with large windows. Mini booths for slightly more privacy for 1-2 people.

Polly Severy

Google
What a wonderful coffee shop and gift store!! Nothing like an iced coffee on a summer's day!! They offer burritos from Tesuque Village Market and MataG. The gift store has a nice variety of items.

E S

Google
Coffee isn’t good enough to be looked up and down when walking in and served by snobby baristas. The gentleman taking my order was nice but the girls behind the counter seemed genuinely like high school bullies. Not to mention, not sure if it was a bad batch of beans but it smelled like fish. Won’t be back

Yelp
Excellent espresso. Had a double shot with steamed 1/2 n 1/2 in an 8 oz cup. Strong, smooth, delicious.

Yelp
Ohori's is pretty much hit or miss lately. More misses at the St. Francis location than the other one. Coffee is often very weak compared to some of the competition in Santa Fe. This does have to do with the person doing the pulling though, because there are times when then order is perfect. Having said that, there are a couple people working at this location who probably aren't even coffee drinkers and the quality of the coffee here kind of shows that reality. Probably the new girl. jk Hit or miss. Take your chances. A tad disappointing at times, awesome every once in a while.

Yelp
I was staying at a hotel right across the street, but it was only a halfway past my stay when I realized Ohori's Coffee was there. Their sign is small, but the logo caught my eyes... it's a school house crest of my kindergarten back in Japan! I had Ohori's amazing latte every day until I left Santa Fe. Also went to the other location, and the gift shop too. Their coffee is aromatic, deep, and enjoyable. The staff is very nice, attentive and with lots of positive vibe, and the bakery items are also very fresh and tasty. They've been in business over 40 years in Santa Fe. There's a reason. And of course I am partial to Japanese-American businesses.

Yelp
I would give this place a 3.5. It was very clean, staff was friendly, and you were able to buy from local artists in store which was cool. It is more of a dark roast coffee shop which my husband prefers lighter roasts so not his favorite. It went down for me because my turmeric latte was pretty lack luster.

Alexandra O.

Yelp
Super cute and chill. Extremely good coffee, it's very strong so I can only handle a double shot. I love hearing the barista's conversations, they are all so funny! A bit of patience is required (especially if you're considering the drive thru) but you won't be disappointed!

JD G.

Yelp
This place haas always been top shelf or fresh roasted coffee from all of the worlds three growing regions. Hands down the best coffee roaster and cafe in New Mexico area. Both locations in Santa Fe are similar, so stop in the one along your way, next time you are in Santa Fe.

Peer K.

Yelp
I love this cafe. The coffee is amazing and I always take a pound home with me. I drive from Albuquerque just to go here.
google avatar

Tak L.

Yelp
The coffee is good, and definitely worthy of a stop if you are visiting Santa Fe. The location we visited only allowed drive-up due to covid restrictions. The line was long, so be ready to wait. According to the locals this is the best coffee shop in town, definitely better than Starbucks.

Yelp
Ordered a mocha. Standard is only one shot instead of two, like most other places. Extra shot is only $.80 more, though. They use french roast for the espresso, and even with the chocolate syrup and milk it was really bitter. Wouldn't go back
google avatar

Fly Spy G.

Yelp
I was excited when I read the description of the organic drip. I ordered a small and my husband a medium. I'm so sad to report that the coffee is so so so bitter (yes 3 so's). It's completely burnt. I literally went to the restroom to dump my coffee down the drain. Now with that being said, the chai latte with coconut milk is delicious, the matcha lattes with oat milk are also delicious. I ordered a vanilla latte after I dumped my drip and it was also really good but as the drink cooled down I could taste the bitterness of the espresso. I ended up dumping it with about 1/3 left. There is no where to sit which is a bummer. I really would love to see these roasters improve their skill. I think everything else works here but you're a coffee shop, if you can't get the beans right, I can't see your place having longevity.

Yelp
Damn good latte. From the chipper staff to the easy grip insulated cup, Ohori's was excellent.

Kai F.

Yelp
Super friendly folks, and a great selection of coffee beans at reasonable prices. A lot of folks seem not to like the dark roasts, so I'd recommend sticking with the lights or mediums if you're not into "burnt" coffee, esp since your burnt might be someone else's perfectly dark.

Robert R.

Yelp
Today was the third time I've waited over 10 minutes to be helped, yet there were 5, count them 5 employees behind the counter, and 1 person ahead of us. One customer just left after waiting too long. The staff is not friendly and appear disinterested in the job they do. I like their coffee a great deal, and will give my business to the other location closer to downtown where the staff is attentive and very friendly. The folks at the Saint Francis location need some serious training in customer service. I chose to leave without being helped.

M S.

Yelp
These clowns wouldn't serve me at the DRIVE THRU unless I had a mask on in my own car. Not only that, but they were extremely rude about it. Get a grip people. Take your business elsewhere, plenty of other options nearby.

Charles B.

Yelp
Santa Fe is blessed with a lot of great coffee shops and they all have different attributes that make them good: variety of drinks, quality of baristas, ambiance, food, seating, service, etc. All that said, Ohori's is the best --coffee-- in town. I like the fuller flavor of their darker roast levels, but they also stop well short of the starbucks "nuke it until it bleeds" roast. Food items are limited and there isn't a lot of seating, but when I want good coffee, period, this is where I go. I also buy my coffee for use at home from these folks, except when I order online from Peet's. And speaking of Alfred Peet....he trained Susan Ohori and that explains a lot about the lineage of this great place. https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Alfred_Peet

Yelp
I stopped in after reading a few reviews of where to get coffee in SF, and I almost turned away after entering and noticing the very second-wave vibe and the smell of burnt, over-roasted beans (the "Starbucks smell"). The drink prices were favorable and I needed caffeine, so I decided to stick it out. The barista was a little inattentive (didn't even acknowledge me standing there for a good full minute, even though she wasn't apparently helping anyone else), and I was a bit turned off to find that the prices were only for a single shot (one shot in a 12-oz latte is not even close to the proper ratio), so it ended up being over $4 by the time I added the necessary second shot. The resulting drink was actually not bitter and quite drinkable and even featured some modest latte art, though I could still detect a subtle astringent taste of over-roasted beans. Not quite "awesome third-wave" quality but definitely good and sufficient.

Yelp
They put alternative milks in my breve! Com'on! No one wants soy. No one wants llama milk. Bovine lactose or GTFO!

Yelp
2 of their stores are a bit off the beaten path, but if you're in Santa Fe from out of town looking for something other than chain coffee, you won't go wrong to get your fix here. Love the atmosphere and the people working the counter were super cool. Coffee excellent and became my regular stop while I was in town!

Yelp
We went to Ohori's yesterday morning for some coffee and baked goods. The space is a bit dingy and there's not much seating (especially taking into account the eclectic clientele who enjoy coming in to charge a cellphone). We got a cafe au lait and an iced coffee, and both were excellent. The blueberry muffin was pretty gross, and even though the slab of banana bread was generous, it wasn't much better. The woman who was working was pleasant and friendly. We want to love this place since they've been roasting in Santa Fe for so long, but...meh. There are much better places around town, so not sure if we'll be back again the next time that we're visiting.

Yelp
We were really disappointed with this shop. I hate to give anyone a bad review, but these guys can do so much better. They have a killer location (right in the center of town, and on the bike path), and a cool hippy local vibe. They roast their own beans, and have nice locally sourced baked goods. I'm not a coffee expert, but it seems like they are stuck in coffee wave 2.10. A little better than Charbucks, but just barely. Their beans seem over-roasted / burnt for my taste. They still steam huge pitchers of milk for multiple drinks, instead of each drink getting a dedicated batch. So only one of our drinks (of three) had any foam at all. There was also a big blob of chocolate syrup at the bottom of a mocha. Please take 15 seconds to mix. And I hate to keep going, but all 3 drinks were scalding hot. We could not handle them for longer than 15 seconds (in paper). We kept having to stop and reconfigure on the way to the car because our hands were burning. Perhaps the milk was scorched, which may have added to the bitter burnt taste? Not sure. Two of us had vanilla lattes, and we both threw them away after a couple of swallows. One of us drank 2/3 of their mocha. We were here three years ago and nothing has changed. There are better coffee shops in Santa Fe now, so we thought Ohori's would have improved / evolved, but they haven't.

Tyler C.

Yelp
Put in an online order. Got there. Finally got to the front of the line. They didn't have the order. Finally 30 minutes after my pickup time, they "found" my order and started making it. I've now been here waiting for 45 minutes. Awful service. It can't be that hard.

Marc-Olivier L.

Yelp
I might be a bit of an espresso snob, but I found this place to be a sad excuse for a coffee shop. The coffee beans used for the espresso are border-line burnt. The coffee is only served to go, so we had to endure it in paper cups instead of proper ceramic. Typically, when I ask for an espresso and the response is single or double shot, that is a signed to walked away. I should have.

Yelp
I really enjoyed Ohori's, and I'm glad that I finally found a place in New Mexico that seems to actually be able to good, rather than mediocre, coffee. (As a caveat, I haven't been to Iconik yet, which has received good reviews.) Ohori's has a good selection of organic fair trade coffee of various roasts. I tried two medium roasts (organic Peru and organic Ethiopia) as pour-overs, which were good. I also bought 1/2 a pound of the East Timor, which has a nice bold flavor and really is buttery like the description says. It's also encouraging that Ohori's actually offers different grinds depending on the type of coffeemaker you have. I have yet to try either of the espresso blends that they serve, but that'll be for the next time I go. Stay tuned. The store has a cute atmosphere and good selection of coffee and tea apparatus, and it's good to know that I can get some filters in a pinch. I also like the selection of quirky postcards, the fact that all the people working there seemed to enjoy their jobs, and the variety of music. One of the only things is that I wish that this location had an atmosphere that encouraged more lounging. I guess it's not a big deal, since it seemed like a majority of the business was for walk-in/walk-out people and the drive-through, but I'd like it even better if it were a more comfortable place to hang out (more comfortable tables, Wifi), but that's probably something that people go to the other location for. Even though I know that it would add to the cleaning and maintenance, I would really appreciate real ceramics and glassware for for-here orders; it just adds to the enjoyment of drinking coffee or tea for me.

Anita M.

Yelp
Great coffee, friendly staff and a convenient drive through. Yet I can't help but be put off at the occasional Satan/Baphomet figures or the BLM Communist Marxist sign that has been displayed on the wall outside the drive through. Good grief. Just sell coffee. Please.
google avatar

Barry B.

Yelp
Awesome espresso in Santa Fe. Don't settle for machine-made multinational brands when you can get a locally roasted and owned store with hand-pulled shots. Not a lot of space to hang out in, but there's some nice outdoor seating. Tourists - this is an easy walk from the plaza.
google avatar

Claire M.

Yelp
Best coffee in Santa Fe! Great baristas, super friendly, good atmosphere. Outside seating and food truck in car park - what more do you need? I appreciated the fact that double shots are the norm and bigger isn't always better.
google avatar

Stacy C.

Yelp
No WiFi. At all. Coffee & service are good. And they do bulletproof coffee. Nice setting. Near downtown. Plenty of parking.
google avatar

Polly A.

Yelp
Good coffee; happy barista, quiet corner to hide with a little amazing Casa store to browse. Love this gem

Margaret G.

Yelp
Welp, I hate to do this but after a snooty counter person told me I have to pay for a tiny amount of decaf with milk in a cup for my 3 yo I will have to sadly put Ohori's on the list of no go. So sick of Santa Fe attitudes. I was going to purchase a pound of beans and a latte but now nothing. I always come here and treat people nicely it only to be treated with a stupid snobby attitude today. I refuse to do business when I get treated like this. Goodbye,

Rob P.

Yelp
Read some other reviews with lower stars due to drive thru wait time. Understand the frustration but since they offer full service roasting - can take more time for prepping a bag of coffee vs drinks only. Coffee is outstanding- smooth and delicious. Great local roasting option and excellent coffee.
google avatar

Emma W.

Yelp
As a fan of purports and delicious coffee, I was rather disappointed with the quality. When we walked in it smelled like Starbucks, which is a smell I love but should have also tipped me off that they burn their beans. This taste is quite evident in their coffee. I completely regretted paying for a pourover when it only tasted like a burnt cup of coffee to me. They did have chocolate truffles in their case though that were delicious and helped to make up for my coffee disappointment. The baristas were rather nice and lacked the typical snobbery that accompanies employees of renown coffee shops. The atmosphere was not the cozy, sit for hours vibe that I'd like on a chilly day. One entire wall was covered in merchandise---which was actually somewhat fun to see but not what I wanted to look at the whole time I was there. Most of the tables are right up by the espresso bar, meaning you kind of always have someone standing by you. It left little opportunities for seclusion. Additionally, it wasn't very homework/laptop friendly in that they had a very limited amount of outlets available---most or all of which were kept along a wall with barstools and a skinny wall mounted table. I'd recommend it if you're coming and going and don't have a very refined palette for coffee. :)
google avatar

Chris Q.

Yelp
Update for just the coffee. That's my rating on coffee. Arrogant staff at original location off Penn St. (go here for good coffee, and if you're into barista bondage- they'll treat you like sh@* and You'll LOVE it).
google avatar

Aintyosideschick W.

Yelp
This place looks like a repackaged Starbucks. Coffee is okay and they offer some organic wrapped food but it feels like they're just trying sell the trend. The staff at the front desk were TERRIBLE. The 3 guys behind the counter were completely in their own world making jokes that didn't make any sense. The guy who took my order was completely RUDE and didn't even say anything to make up for it when it was obvious I wasn't down for his attitude. Made the vibe there SO unwelcoming. So why bother getting your coffee here when there are plenty of better options in Santa Fe? If you get to read this in time, don't follow your desperation or unfortunate curiosity like I did.

Jeffrey R.

Yelp
This place has awesome coffee but why oh why does it take 20 minutes to get a coffee in the drive-thru? Every time!
google avatar

Peter C.

Yelp
I really wanted to love Ohori's - small, local, craft roaster, offering a variety of high quality beans, freshly roasted. Sounds perfect. Unfortunately, they only play one note when it comes to roast - very dark. And while I enjoy a dark roast, I also enjoy all the other notes of the fabulous bean, and beans that are best at a medium or light roast. I still use their drive through when I want to pick up a quick cup (they are still better than Starbucks, and I prefer to patronize local businesses), but I buy my beans at the roaster in Whole Food because I can get a variety of roasts of quality beans there. If Ohori's would only offer just a few medium and light roasts they would be perfect, and I would buy my beans there in addition to giving them my occasional drive through business. Oh, and open up on Sundays!
google avatar

Vincent H.

Yelp
Not Impressed. We did the drive through and the person who helped us was very rude. Ordered 2 large chais and they tasted like bunch or milk and cinnamon. Hmm not sure if I'll come back.
google avatar

Jacqueline C.

Yelp
Seriously over roasted burnt coffee. YUCK! I am all for people roasting their own coffee beans but I can't help but feel sad when my coffee tastes like ashes. I saw that this was the only roaster in Santa Fe so I knew I had to try it! I decided to give their Ethiopian a try. Boy oh boy was I not ready for what I was about to taste. No floral aromas, no chocolatey like notes...NOTHING but liquid burnt toast. Yeah...no thank you.
google avatar

Amy M.

Yelp
Oh Ohoris, you are so goddamn good I want to pack you up and bring you home with me every time I come to Santa Fe. I wish coffee didn't have a short shelf life, because I'd load my car up with your Santa Fe Blend, and happily pay for the extra gas I'd need to haul all that awesome beanage back to San Diego with me. We just don't HAVE a roaster like you here, and that makes me very sad. Plus you give a free cup with purchasing beans. PLUS you offered my boyfriend his own cup. PLUS the people working here are really nice.
google avatar

Katie S.

Yelp
Really good coffee, but I found the shop itself to be boring. Not much seating and far too much merchandise. That's always a huge turn off to me--being sold greeting cards while I'm trying to get my coffee. But again, really good coffee.
google avatar

Rob G.

Yelp
They burned the milk, over-extracted the espresso. They have less-than-optimal espresso equipment (simonelli). In short, go to betterday coffee for real espresso drinks.
google avatar

D N.

Yelp
I love coffee shops and this is the ultimate destination coffee vacation. Important to note: I was here in Santa Fe for only a short trip, with two small kids in tow. While the staff were very nice and helpful, I would say this is not a place to sit and relax with your children. Lots of cool, original items to buy but all breakable. Nevertheless, the coffee is stellar. The employees are extremely knowledgeable and the taste is spot on. I'd come here everyday to work on my laptop and live that lifestyle if I could!
google avatar

Jesseca T.

Yelp
I went here on Sunday to buy a pound or two of coffee in my continuing quest for a good coffee source in SF, but they weren't open. That's right, Sunday morning, 8am, and the coffee shop is not open. Closed all day Sunday. Am I wrong in thinking that this would be an ideal time to reach your target market? I, apparently, am not their target market, because I was unable to get what I needed when I needed it. 'Nuf said

Yelp
Ohori's - Another Santa Fe idiot coffee house with ATTITUDE! It's no wonder I would rather be going across the street to Starbucks to get my coffee than to Ohori's. Not only does Ohori's coffee taste acidic and the barista's are poorly trained but they seem to have quite the attitude as well. Starbucks on the other hand serves up my coffee the way I want it with a great big smile on their face. Imagine great customer service... So you might be asking what could I have possibly ordered that Ohori's was so unwillingly to do? OMG so simple.. All I wanted was a medium size coffee in a large size cup to go so I would not burn myself. The idiot barista says they sell it by the cup and she could not give it to me that way without charging me for a large size cup of coffee. I said hey I just don't want to burn myself with hot coffee if it spills out a little.. She said nope can't do it, it's policy.. I said since when is it policy I came by yesterday and ordered it that way. Oh well she said, they did the wrong thing but it's still policy and I can't do that for you. Imagine a customer doesn't want to get burned by coffee but it's their policy. I suspect this idiot barista young college age woman probably got her policies wrong, but in the end, I just walked out. There are a lot of better places in town I can give my money too. Just across the street is a Starbucks.. Hey I think I will go there.. screw the local guy with the attitude!! Come to think of it, the last time I was in an Ohori's they had an attitude as well. I have not been back to Ohori's for over 10 years since then because of their attitude and thought I would give them a try to see if anything has changed, it clearly has not. Yesterday when I came in they did give me what I wanted but the taste was very acidic. I thought I would try it again today just to make sure it was consistently acidic or just a mistake. What I got was an acidic barista instead.... Imagine just like their coffee.. so nothing has changed i guess. As I said, the last time I walked out of there was about 10 years before yesterday. I asked them at that time, if they by any chance had WIFI which is the norm for coffee houses even back then. What I got was quite the attitude how they don't believe in WiFi. their customers should just come in and order their coffee and leave or read. They don't want any computers in there yada yada yada.. So lets see what their attitudes has cost them these past 10 years. I buy one cup "A Breve" a day for an average of $3.50 plus $.50 for a tip. Yearly that is $1,456 per year or $14,560 for 10 years. Can you imagine how much money these folks are chasing away by their attitudes? Oh well.. seems like an idiot business to me! Way to go Ohori's I am sure you are so Santa Fe Proud!!!
google avatar

Mike B.

Yelp
Gotta agree with a number of reviews talking about poor training and bad attitudes just trying to get a cup of coffee and a croissant. Don't know what I did either waiting for the girl to just reach into the case and grab my order as she continued to take other people's orders and do other chores instead of finishing up with mine? When I asked for the rest of mine courteously twice just got snarled at. Geez, found a great little place not far away, Angels, great pastries and friendly efficient staff go there!!

Santa Fe ..

Yelp
A big Thank You to Ohori's for donating bags of coffee to Kitchen Angels to give to their meal delivery clients at Christmas time. It was so nice to receive the Santa Fe blend and have real coffee at home for those of us who can't get out due to temporary (we hope) health problems. Thank you for your kindness.

Yelp
I have always loved the coffee here. I'm usually an americano kind of girl but getting a triple shot vanilla bean latte is my new favorite thing when I drive to this side of town. I like that they make their syrup in house and it isn't too sweet. It really compliments the espresso. Only complaint? The staff never seems happy. I have never gotten a smile from anyone who works there. Good thing the lattes are great.
google avatar

Christi K.

Yelp
Delicious espresso. Some of the best I've had! Great coffee house vibe. Cute kitschy knicknacks, books, kitchen items, etc. No blended beverages :) so go somewhere else if you want your frappa-dappa-chino crap! God, I love this place!!

Yelp
A quaint little shop with a lot of interesting wares like teapots, filters, bamboo cutting boards and glassware offered. Personally, I don't think a good coffee shop needs all that, but maybe in that area it is appreciated. The staff was pretty great, I have to say. Highly accommodating and polite, and they mixed me up a delicious mocha. My main complaint, however, is that there is no comfortable seating. There are high tables with hard chairs, restricting a person who might want to linger over coffee(s) and treat(s) while indulging in some reading or writing. In my opinion, all coffee shops should be built to accommodate that sort of clientele, which is the most profitable kind. There *is* outdoor seating which I ultimately opted for -- it consisted of plastic chairs and rot iron tables. Not super comfortable but better than inside. Over all I'd recommend people at least try this shop to see if they like it. The coffee and staff are great --- so maybe that's enough.

Yelp
AWESOME coffee!!! It was totally worth the long walk! when you order the macchiato, you get the real deal, expect to get re-awaken :) I loved my cappuccino as well, very smooth. I was tempted to try their chocolate as well, but when I took a close look at them in the display case... eh.. pretty sure, they've been there for a while, part of the surface was dry and sorta chipping off. Nevertheless, if you are in the area and want good coffee, do walk!
