Meaning "the old festival grounds," this is a traditional and historical section within the Oktoberfest area, created in 2010 to recreate the atmosphere of 19th- and early 20th-century Oktoberfest. Compared to the main Wiesn, it is calmer and more focused on Bavarian heritage, craftsmanship, and folk culture. Here you will find traditional beer tents, hand-operated and vintage fairground rides, folk music and dance performances, brass bands, and regional customs. The Festzelt Tradition is a must-visit highlight, dedicated to traditional Bavarian music, costume, and dance. Its Augustiner Märzen beer is especially well known for its rich, full-bodied flavor. The Museumszelt offers an overview of the history of Oktoberfest, while other attractions include Bavarian tractors, a traditional Kegelbahn (nine-pin bowling), and marionette performances. One of the most iconic highlights is the Motordrom, the legendary "Wall of Death" motorcycle show.
Notes: All payments are cash only. Oide Wiesn is not held in years when the Bavarian Central Agricultural Festival takes place (every four years). Some tents require advance reservations.
